The 25 Best Outdoor Restaurants In London

"The Allotment Kitchen is where we go to escape London, when we’re too lazy to actually leave London. The cafe, part of Stepney City Farm, is a leafy, fairy light-sprinkled oasis that draws nature-starved Londoners with the promise of excellent, creative brunch dishes and winning honeycomb-topped Guinness cake. Plus, you’ll eat your orange mascarpone french toast while sitting at a table fashioned from a tree trunk, as the friendly farm cat curls around your legs." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak

The Best Guinness Cakes In London

"The Allotment Kitchen—part of Stepney City Farm—is the kind of leafy, fairy light-sprinkled oasis that draws nature-starved Londoners with the promise of Baileys hot chocolate and honeycomb-topped Guinness cake. If that doesn’t sound wholesome enough, you’ll eat your cake while sitting at a table fashioned from a tree trunk, as the friendly farm cat curls around your legs. And what a cake. We want to meet the mind that decided to top the dark, chocolatey cake with a thick, heavy layer of decadent cream cheese, studded with clusters of sweet honeycomb. Because we’d definitely be friends." - sinead cranna

Where To Eat When Cycling Is Your Whole Personality

"If your romanticised idea of a bike ride involves a pit stop for brunch and a little pedal alongside a canal, head to The Allotment Kitchen. This cafe is part of Stepney City Farm, and it’s where nature-starved Londoners go for honeycomb-topped Guinness cake and Baileys hot chocolate. If that doesn’t sound wholesome enough, you’ll eat orange mascarpone french toast while sitting at a table fashioned from a tree trunk, as the friendly farm cat curls around your legs. It’s also just a short, three-minute cycle from Mile End Park, which has a pleasant route alongside the Regent’s Canal. " - sinead cranna

The Allotment Kitchen Review - Stepney Green - London - The Infatuation

"The Allotment Kitchen is where we go to escape London, while being too lazy to actually leave London. The cafe, part of Stepney City Farm, is the kind of leafy, fairy light-sprinkled oasis that draws nature-starved Londoners with the promise of Baileys hot chocolate and honeycomb-topped Guinness cake. If that doesn’t sound wholesome enough, you’ll eat your orange mascarpone french toast while sitting at a table fashioned from a tree trunk, as the friendly farm cat curls around your legs. The creative dishes are excellent—like confit garlic white bean mash with lemony leeks and crispy sage—and this is one of our favourite brunch spots in the city. Come on the weekend and take a stroll around the farmers’ market, and leave with a blissed-out, rested feeling. photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat" - Sinéad Cranna

Best Christmas Sandwiches 2020 | London Restaurant Christmas Sandwiches - Eater London

"The ‘AK Christmas Sarnie’ is The Muppets Christmas Carol of Christmas sandwiches: a wholesome, hearty, and utterly charming delight that one could quite easily consume every day of the month without getting tired. Two handsome wedges of Bread Station sourdough encase slow-cooked Stepney City Farm pork shoulder, roast turkey breast, mushroom and spinach stuffing, homemade cranberry sauce, mayo, and a token lettuce leaf to tie it all together. Is the lettuce necessary? Absolutely not. But green is good in December. The sandwich is available at Allotment Kitchen for the whole of December and there’s even a vegetarian version knocking about for the non-meat eaters." - Lucas Oakeley

Truly one of the best brunches I have had as a vegetarian. The menu was innovative, between three of us we ordered 4 brunch dishes (3 is more than enough, we just couldn’t narrow it down to 1 dish each). The staff are so jolly and friendly which makes the overall visit enjoyable. I have also been to grab coffees a few times, I can attest to the coffee’s being good - far better than any other coffee shop in Stepney Green. With drinks we paid just over £60, £20 per person which is well priced for London.

Had the most incredible brunch here with friends! All food was overflowing & bursting with flavour! I had the vegan option and it was divine. Would be nice if they got some vegan pastries in but other than that, can’t complain about a thing!

I took myself on a little solo date to this cafe today, It’s beautiful! I had the peach & burrata sourdough and elderflower cooler and they both tasted amazing. The atmosphere is calming with lots of greenery and staff is very friendly. The food came out quick too! The menu was on the slightly pricier side but given that ingredients used are grown in the adjacent farm, it makes sense. It was packed full of people and I’m excited to try the beautiful range of cakes next time! After my visit I had a gander around the Stepney city farm which is just next to the café. Overall lovely experience and a great place to go with friends.

Came across the Allotment Kitchen when we went to Stepney City Farm last weekend. Their brunch was so good we walked via the canals from Shoreditch today to try some more dishes. The chefs really know what they’re doing here. Seriously impressive. Great produce and some awesome food. Fantastic friendly service in a lovely outside space. Even bought some cakes to enjoy later. Well worth a look.

A little oasis in the city. The staff at the cafe are friendly and the at atmosphere is chilled and homely. Potentially the best bacon sandwich I’ve ever had?! I asked for the bacon to be crispy and it was cooked perfectly, as was the egg with a soft runny yolk! I didn’t catch exactly what the chilli mayo sauce was but it was delicious. The rhubarb and almond French toast was equally delicious although incredibly rich! Very beautifully served though.

Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and great food. The sourdough with burrata, pesto and cherry tomatoes was particularly good. You can take a trip around the farm after lunch to see the goats and other animals! The only thing I would note further is that it would be nice if they had a few more cheaper options, as most of the menu was over £10.

We had Sunday brunch here. The place is lovely and atmosphere was nice. We had French toast, English muffin with goat curds and poached eggs, lemon cake and pesto pasta for the kids. Food was delicious but I found the English muffin a bit dry and the French toast portion a bit small otherwise the food was really good and the flavours were good. Customer service was good and the staff were nice.
