18 Best Greenville, South Carolina, Restaurants | Eater Carolinas

"Greenville’s most celebrated farm-to-table restaurant got a big beverage boost with the recent return of Mills Higgins; the upstairs cocktail bar feels revitalized under his talented hand. Equally important is the addition of sommelier Bruce Wise, who surprised many by recently leaving Larkins to join the team at the West Greenville restaurant as the general manager. Wine dinners at the Anchorage have become an institution, typically pairing five courses with wine and featuring the winemaker in attendance. Champagne dinners tend to sell out the same day. Small plates remain the focus for chef Steve Zurkey, with proteins and produce sourced from hyper-local growers. And although the menu is offered à la carte, the tasting table option is a great way to experience what’s in season in the Upstate." - Stephanie Burnette

Maura waitress & bartender was amazing, chef was hip as they come. Drinks were inventive but not to much, asked my preference and made a cocktail on the fly. Cacio e Pepe was unique and flavorful, bread service was fresh baked, Collard Green plate was creative and great. They deserve a Michelin Star

My wife and I ate at the bar upstairs. The atmosphere was relaxed and the service was attentive, friendly, and not rushed. We got the tasting menu and asked for recommended wine pairings. The sommelier was very conversational and informative. The bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was fantastic, but the overall experience was very enjoyable and memorable. Even though we were in town only for a quick vacation, this place was worth leaving downtown for. Not inexpensive, but still highly recommended.

Everything about the Anchorage speaks yummy! Friend had the gnochetti with anchovy and loved it. I had the sablefish with creamed corn and to say it was delicious is an understatement. It was truly amazing. The white wine we ordered was outstanding, perhaps the best white I've ever tasted at a local Greenville restaurant. Order this one if you love white wine! See the photo. The server Tabitha was so bubbly and fun, and her personality shone through. The manager acted as som and was chatty throughout. We were a table of five as walk-ins and the staff accomodated us promptly. We even sat on the upstairs deck outside for a nightcap. Do not miss this little gem of a balcony! A great spot for an after dinner drink.

Anchorage delivered an outstanding dining experience, from the moment we arrived to the last bite of dessert. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the service is impeccable, and the food? Absolutely phenomenal. Appetizers: Bread Service – The sourdough bread was incredibly fresh, with a satisfying crust and soft interior. The cultured butter and bourbon liver mousse were both excellent—perfectly spreadable and paired beautifully with the bread. Louisiana Tuna Crudo – Bright, refreshing, and full of exciting textures. The balance of citrus, umami, and the crunch of black sesame seeds made every bite a delight. Main Courses: Brasstown Beef Flat Iron Steak – Cooked to perfection and paired beautifully with the Covington sweet potatoes, kale, and rutabaga purée. The sauce was the silent powerhouse—deep umami-rich flavors with just an ever-so-slight hint of sourness, adding intrigue and balance. Pappardelle Bolognese – A rich, full-bodied dish with perfectly cooked pasta and deeply flavorful veal & flank steak sauce. Every element was executed flawlessly. Drinks: French 75 – A beautifully balanced, crisp cocktail with Roku Gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, and sparkling wine. The citrus was bright but not overpowering, and the effervescence added just the right amount of elegance. Mango Angel – A tropical and velvety drink made with Espolon Tequila, lime juice, spiced mango cordial, and egg white. The egg white foam gave it a smooth, silky mouthfeel, while the spiced mango added a subtle heat and complexity. Dessert: Pecan Entremet – A beautifully presented dessert with layers of nutty, creamy, and caramel flavors. The textures were just as impressive as the taste, with a crisp shortbread base, airy mousse, and a glossy, delicate finish. Service & Atmosphere: The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and made sure we felt well taken care of. The restaurant itself is in a charming area with quirky shops, bars, and restaurants, making it a great destination for a night out. Parking was surprisingly easy, which is always a plus. Pricing: The quality of the food, service, and ambiance justifies the pricing. Our meal, including two cocktails, two appetizers, two entrées, and a dessert, came to $127 before tip. Given the execution, portion sizes, and the use of high-quality, fresh, seasonal ingredients, the prices felt reasonable for a fine dining experience. Missed Opportunity?: If there’s one small thing that would have made the experience even better, it would have been the option for an after-dinner espresso. It wasn’t on the menu, but perhaps they offer it if requested. Final Thoughts: Anchorage is a must-visit for special occasions or anyone who appreciates seasonal, high-quality dining. The rotating menu means there’s always something new to experience, and we can’t wait to see what they offer next time.

I wanted to love our experience here... It started off great, but ultimately, we left disappointed and hungry. My wife and I made dinner reservations for New Year's Eve at 5:45. We had our 7 month old with us as she is breastfed and couldn't be left with the sitter like our 3 year old. We were greeted warmly and brought to a table. We asked if there was a high chair available (we would have stated this in the reservation but did not see a place for notes). They accommodated us generously and moved us to a table upstairs that allowed space for a high chair. We had a few minutes to review the set menu for the night before moving to the new table (3 course meals + dessert for $95/person). When our new server greeted us, it was brief and unpersonable. We told him our order, and then he rarely stopped by throughout our meal. The courses were poorly spaced, leaving 10-15 minutes between each one and nearly 30 minutes between clearing our main course dishes and the arrival of our dessert. This was extra frustrating with an infant who was growing more tired by the minute. We timed the reservation to finish up around her bedtime, but we ended up being there a full 2 hours. The other members of the staff, like our first server and the bartender upstairs, made a point to come check on us and converse. Our server put us on the back burner, timed the meal poorly, and it ruined the experience. The food was overall pretty good, but the portions were small, and we left still hungry. More than $200 for two of us to eat (no drinks), and we left after 2 hours, hungry. We spent more time waiting for food than we did eating.

We got the tasting menu Simply amazing food. Every dish was a 9 or 10/10

Google
We visited for a special occasion with a party of four. We had the tasting menu, four courses with a total of 11 dishes. It's impossible to pick a favorite, though the spiced pecan entremet is hovering near the top. Our server was attentive, the food was inventive. Pricey, but worth it for an event.

Ann B

Google
This meal was out of this world. We did the table tasting and they serve all 9 of their entrees in sets of 3 (for 3 courses) and in portions perfect for the party. The dishes were creative and the flavors were amazing. The 4th course is a dessert. There are 2 floors for dining, the kitchen is open on the 1st floor. The music is great. Service outstanding. Such a wonderful experience.

Yelp
I've dined at this restaurant before but very impressed with the attention to detail and thoughtfulness of the menu tonight. And the ambiance is as always sublime just the right amount of effortless urban charm. Enjoyed every dish but this dessert was a showstopper.

Yelp
I was SO excited to return to anchorage for the first time since 2020. I remembered vividly how much we loved the tasting experience and also an amazing mocktail that I had during that visit when I couldn't drink. My husband and I finally went back with a couple friend of ours who didn't love their first experience but wanted to try it out again (they didn't do the tasting the first time and regretted that - I agree that that $80 pp four course tasting experience is the way to go. The issue is the whole table does have to do it. But it's curated by chef and you get to basically try the whole menu. The plates on their own are a bit small if ordered individually and they left hungry the first time. With the tasting, you get your fill of everything!!) What we LOVED this visit: 1. Each main course of dishes before dessert were all delicious just as we remembered- so fresh and I love that the menu is very seasonal with the freshest ingredients. 2. The plating was beautiful on each dish as well. The standouts were the peach salad, charred cauliflower, stuffed pasta with escargot, bread service, pork, and mountain trout. 3. The unanimous favorite between the 4 of us was the pasta - it's served family style and we all wished there was more of the pasta because it was SO incredibly delicious. What we didn't love: 1. The mocktail fell pretty flat this time. I was looking forward to that (ironically couldn't drink on this visit either) because I remember how good and custom and unique they made it for me last time. This time the server gave me only 2 generic mocktail options, basically a strawberry cordial that sounded syrupy sweet and a lemon lime option. I went with the latter and it was underwhelming, very sweet and basically a lemonade. A big step back from the mocktail I had last time and not creative at all, sadly. I've found so many good ones around GVL lately so it surprised me to see that theirs was so basic. 2. Service was not as great as we remembered but we all have our off days. The man who seated us kind of just clicked his tongue to let us know to follow him to our table, didn't really say anything at all except telling us who'd be our server and kind of seemed annoyed - it was a bit odd but maybe he just had an off night. Just Wasn't the friendliest or best way to start the experience. Our server was very friendly! She did have trouble splitting our check at the end - she brought one check and we asked to split between the 2 couples, and we were told they couldn't split a bottle of wine 2 ways that was shared (which we do often at other places) and then when we said ok and just asked for individual drinks to be put on individual checks, there was an error and it had to be voided and so it led to possible double charges on both cards. It wasn't complicated bill to split so that was odd to me - we've never had that issue and I've been in service industry so I know that bill splitting isn't that difficult so I don't love that some restaurants avoid doing it or try to act like they "can't do it". Especially when the total is around $300 per couple (with tip included). Not a huge deal just a bit inconvenient. 3. Lastly, the desserts were sadly underwhelming. The meal was so delicious so we were excited for the finish - they sounded great and looked beautiful but they really lacked flavor. The chocolate tarte was one dimensional and it was just hard to end on a note that wasn't high after such delicious main dishes!! All in all, we did win over our friends because they enjoyed doing the tasting much more than their last visit. And we still love the Anchorage and see it as a true foodie experience and we would definitely return again!!

Yelp
Great experience. We went with another couple and were seated upstairs. The place does. have ambiance. The upstairs is an old bar looking place with some character. We all selected the "Tasting Table". The menu currently says it's a four course meal, and that everyone at the table must order it for it to be served. Our meal was more like 7 or 8 courses. We also picked up a couple of bottles of nice wine. I'm not going to get into the details of the meal since we basically had everything on the menu. It was a serious experience with everything served having quite complex and flavorful recipes. We had a wide range of dishes ranging from beets to grits, to a beef tartar to cod. If you are curious, I suggest that you check out the menu on their web site.

Yelp
I appreciate the staff working us into a bar space without reservations. The food was for, however, not the best I've ever had here. BUT, the menu constantly changes! The bartender was outstanding and the ambiance is always enjoyable!

Yelp
The Anchorage is a great place for a larger dinner party. It had great options for the entire party to share and try many things off the menu. The menu changes based on season. The flavor combinations were unique and some I had never tried before. Some standouts were the anchovy's and lamb tartare. The overall atmosphere was bright and welcoming.

Yelp
The tasting table option is the way to go- it just wouldn't be fair to all the other menu items if you ordered ala carte and left any one dish unselected. Trust me, the tasting menu is plenty of food. Food is expertly prepared, masterfully composed and wonderful to taste with consideration given to presentation and fresh ingredient- all staff is on point, watching the kitchen to to the front of the house all working smoothly like well trained and managed machine -- the dishes didn't waste ingredients, each could be appreciated and complemented the goal of the dish- trout, vegetables, venison ragu were outstanding - all dishes ranged in grading from "excellent" to "phenomenal"-- love the setting and ambience- great for a small group or nice date night and all in sight of the action of the kitchen and operation- all staff super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, concept and food-

Yelp
Horrible menu selections. Very limited. Call before you go, can't trust online menu. I have a fish protein allergy. I went on an online mini night with pasta. There was no pasta offered and everything was seafood. Decided to just have a salad and let my wife enjoy the evening. The salad selection was a disgusting lump of cold hamburger. Trying too hard to be sophisticated. Ended up with a $200 + bill and a trip thru the closest drive through. Way better white cloth experiences in Greenville. Would have given 0 stars.

Yelp
Anchorage is the best restaurant in Greenville for vegetable preparations. They used to have a legendary brunch until Covid. I dream that they bring it back.

Yelp
Wow Great small tapas plates! Sat at the bar enjoyed learning from Emily! To start out with the homemade bread and in-house made butter and liver pate we're so so tasty and I'm normally never eat liver pate and this was delicious. It was almost like a whipped butter It was so smooth Yellowfin tuna was tasty light with tiger blood orange and watermelon radish. Light tasty and fresh Followed by butternut squash with Pesto and tasty cheese shavings.. there is no way a description can do this justice. It's not hot and it's not cold --fresh and again flavorful. Short rib pasta dish was not overpowering nor too heavy with in-house pasta made In addition we had homemade desserts one with strawberries and in-house cream . Along with another dessert that you just have to try I cannot remember what's in it but they both were fantastic This was long overdue that I got back to this restaurant.. can't wait to go back!

We had wonderful date night seated at the upstairs bar with great service, ambiance, and fresh and flavorful food.

Yelp
While in Greenville for a weekend getaway, my husband and I decided on The Anchorage to celebrate our anniversary. We both ate our hearts out and loved everything we tried. There were a number of vegetarian options including local bitter greens (one of the best salads I've ever had), tahina hummus, rainbow carrots, and the farro verde. It was so refreshing to see such creative vegetarian options like these!! For dessert, we tried all three options (I would not recommend doing this for two people but my husband's a big dessert guy lol) and we were incredibly full after having ever last bite because everything was so good! Excellent service, beautiful atmosphere and in a cute walkable area! We had no issue grabbing street parking on a Saturday night. This would be my first stop if I ever visit Greenville again.

Yelp
I never have to eat again! Every year I do a food crawl (as opposed to a bar crawl) for my birthday. Just had the tasting menu at The Anchorage. It is the left side of the menu. Phenomenal ! Lexie and the staff were attentive and, delightful. Lovely presentation. Cannot rave enough.

Yelp
Excellent food. Tasting menu is the way to go. They are very accommodating for different diets. Tons of vegetables versus protein centered dishes which makes it stand out compared to other restaurants.

Yelp
This restaurant blew us away. My fiancé and I had been wanting to try it for a while and just got the chance to go last night. I wish I would have remembered to take pictures because everything was beautifully plated but we wanted to dig right in. I would definitely recommend doing the tasting, it's pricey but 100% worth it with all the fresh, local ingredients. I can't remember all the dishes but the standouts were the fresh bread and liver mousse butter (don't knock it til you try it!), ahi tuna, tagliatelle shrimp, braised lamb, and catfish. The vegetarian dishes were amazing and had great flavor as well but too many different ingredients to name. They have an extensive wine list for such a small restaurant but could use a few more beers. Our server was great as well as everyone bringing out the dishes and explaining them to us. I highly recommend this place, it's definitely one of our new favorites and we plan on going more often as the menu is always rotating!

Yelp
Incredible! My husband and I were able to snag a Saturday reservation at the bar (which is our typical preference when it's just the two of us) and ordered the tasting menu per suggestion of the bartender. It's $75 per person and you get tastings of everything on the menu. It's a great way to try everything and not miss out. With each round, the dishes served became more and more flavorful. My only regret was not capturing photos to share with you. But promise to do so next time we go. So if you're tired of the downtown scene and want a culinary experience, check out The Anchorage. Truly worth every penny!

David J.

Yelp
Food was good. We had reservations for which we had to place a deposit. We were seated upstairs and seemed to have a hodgepodge of wait staff. Sometimes the bartender, sometimes other random people. Not a spectacular exper in terms of that. Actually, pretty disappointed given we spent $75 per person for a tasting menu and had to ask for things like water refills. At one point just got up to get our own plates since we were forgotten. Wish I could rate this higher based on food but just can't given the poor wait experience.

Bynthia B.

Yelp
The swordfish was overcooked and the steak was raw... my server was great but that is the only thing that went decent. I never really write reviews, I just disliked my experience so much. I ordered a specific IPA & received one that tasted off, and when I asked about it I learned they gave me a different brand and style entirely. Their beer selection is dismal, the food seemed rushed, the portions are small and I left hungry after spending $140. This is my second time here and my second disappointment.
google avatar

Anna C.

Yelp
Absolutely exceptional night out. The interior is beautiful, love the open kitchen. The staff was more than professional while still being friendly and just incredible. Our server gave us descriptions for each meal and helped guide us through ordering. The food itself did not disappoint either! I had a grass fed steak entree, and my company had lamb raviolis and grilled cheese. For dessert we tried the authentic mexican churros and our server also told us the story about how those came to be which was great, and we had some sort of pistachio postre as well. This place is definitely worth your money!

Christopher D.

Yelp
One of those restaurants that combines all sorts of random foods into a beautifully designed, well balanced meal. I highly recommend the tasting menu to get a feel for each of the dishes (you won't be disappointed). Drinks were good and so was the service!

Yelp
The food was delicious. We did the chefs table, and had great explanations for every dish delivered to us.

Yelp
Fell in love with The Anchorage the first time we came here and immediately came back for an anniversary dinner the following week. I love the ambiance of The Anchorage with a farmhouse interior and an open kitchen concept. They also have a bar upstairs with a small rooftop terrace as well as outdoor seating. We were so impressed with the food and drinks. Their menu changes frequently since they use local produce. I'm pretty sure their cheese board doesn't leave the menu though and this is an absolute must try. They have stecca bread from Swamp Rabbit Cafe, liver pate, a variety of cheeses and meats as well as jam, honey and pickled vegetables. It was a very impressive cheese board.

Rebecca M.

Yelp
This restaurant literally blew my mind. The service was terrific, the energy and space was super inviting, but the food was probably the best I've ever had. Every single dish from the tasting menu was basically scientifically perfected with the exact perfect combination of salt, fat, acid, heat, and textures. I cannot say enough great things about this restaurant. I will absolutely recommend anyone visiting the Greenville area to make it a point to check this place out. 10/10 perfection

Tiffany S.

Yelp
Left hungry. Total disappointment. The tasting menu was strongly pushed on us for $75pp for just food, no alcohol. The entire table needed to do it though, so if one person did not want it, then not available. Awkward. The vegetarian modification was offered at the same price (but with no protein except a pinch of cheese on each plate). Opinion; waste of money for morsels of food, a Tablespoon scoop of rice and corn (shared), and small scraps. Server(s) were friendly. Ambiance was average, nothing special. Seemed clean. Had high hopes but not going back and would not recommend.

Wendy M.

Yelp
Dani and Greg, Shame on you! After my friend and I spent $150 at your bar we were informed another rsvp had checked in and we needed to move. While you did offer us an open table downstair, you didn't offer to comp our drinks, meal or anything. I don't know how much money it takes to qualify as a valued guest in your restaurant but I feel confident Halls, Urban Wren, Jianna, etc would have never treated us this way. I may be a little nobody to you but I have money to spend and will tell everyone in my little circle about this unprofessional experience we had to endure!

Yelp
Overall, it was a nice evening. We got seated about 5 min after our reservation time but the tables were so close together that my husband and I felt like we were at a communal dining table. Our server was extremely busy and we had to wait a good bit for her but another waiter took our drink orders while we waited. When our server finally arrived she was apologetic and sweet and we're not jerks so we were understanding. After inspecting the small menu we opted for the 4 course tasting menu so we could try everything. We also asked our non waiter if we could do a wine pairing with the dinner and she obliged but our wine pairing never showed up...Any who we were distracted by how delicious the first course was and our real waiter brought me a delicious chardonnay that I very much enjoyed. The first course consisted of the scallop ceviche, a twist on a caesar salad and glazed beets. OH. MY. GOODNESS. If that was my last meal on earth I would not be mad. Our waiter informed us that the lettuce in our salad was more than likely picked earlier that morning from somewhere down the street. You could tell how fresh it was and the balance of the white anchovy with the tang of the dressing was impeccable. I was also pleased to find some shaved kohlrabi, which is not very popular or commonly seen in American dishes. The beets were great and fresh and the ceviche with the pickled jalapenos and chili oil were a perfect combination. 2nd course we had the burrata with peaches, divine! The pork loin with confit tuna, fried capers and some sort of aioli. This was better than I expected, mostly bc I am not a huge pork fan these days but my husband basically scooted the plate toward him and gave me the look of 'please let me eat all of this by myself.' LOL. The spaghetti with clams was meh and a little too lemony for my taste but still good. The last course was our least favorite and I think that was due to the first course absolutely knocking our socks off. We were getting pretty full anyhow so no harm no foul. We had swordfish, more pork and seared cauliflower. This course had the most mild flavors. We also had the zucchini chocolate cake for dessert which we almost fought over it was so good and very moist and decadent without being overpowering. All in all it was a great dinner with a few hiccups but we are huge foodies and LOVE tasting menus so we will be back to discover how the menu changes.

Yelp
We went to Greenville for a Christmas getaway in 2021. Our family of 6, with 4 children, ate at the Anchorage and loved it. We were seated right next to the bar upstairs so my wife and I got our cocktails very quickly and they were delicious. We had swordfish shashimi, burrata cheese, and probably 6 other dishes shared between all of us. They had 2 dessert options and they were so good that we had to double up. Amazing food and memorable dining experience.

Yelp
I visited the anchorage and choose to do the tasting table. Each person at the table must do the tasting table and they make each item on the menu with a small serving for each person to get to try everything. The menu changes every few weeks made with local, in season ingredients. My favorite items I tried were a green curry soup, swordfish kabobs, and a buckwheat pasta with red sauce and pesto. Cocktails were fresh and they had a great wine list with also many bottles for sale in a small market area when you first walk in.

Yelp
I would 100% recommend The Anchorage to anyone traveling to Greenville. The restaurant has ample parking nearby, it's clean and beautiful. We sat upstairs at the bar and enjoyed the atmosphere. If you get a choice, sit at the bar and enjoy the service from the knowledgeable bartenders. The menu is adventurous and definitely unlike one you expect to see in Greenville. We celebrated a birthday here by both ordering the tasting menu, which is an absolute steal at $65 for the variety of plates you receive. The meal started with a sourdough bread with cultured butter. We could not get enough of the bread. Since the menu changes, let me just say my favorite thing on the tasting menu on 6/4 was the Grilled Grass Fed Beef, so perfect with blue cheese and potatoes. The Anson Mills Carolina Gold Risotto was a close second. I didn't want to fill up on risotto but I could not stop eating it. The Burrata served here is a can't miss! We both said we were surprised how flavorful the cheese was on its own. The cocktails are properly made and a pleasure to enjoy. I enjoyed an Old Fashioned and the Violet Beauregarde. The Violet was an effervescent, foamy soda that would have slipped down very easily had I already not been post-dinner. We ordered two desserts and I would recommend the Carrot Cake, if they have it. With two people sharing a tasting menu, there is plenty to enjoy from each course. What are you waiting for? Make a reservation!

Tracy S.

Yelp
Wonderful meal here, and a total price performer for the tasting menu. One of the best meals we had on our epic tour of the south. Somehow we managed to bomb in Charleston this time through, but surprisingly made up for it in Greenville. :)

Yelp
First time here for a celebration. It was really interesting. We researched this restaurant before going every thing look great we could not wait we were so excited! Well we got there and let's just say I was kinda disappointed. No where on their website did it say small plates and everything was Alacart. We had gotten two pork belly's which my people said it was delicious for like an appetizer for one . Small serving for $23.00 each . Our other friend had gotten the zucchini and Summer squash and literally that's all it was like a side dish. I had gotten the scallops which the chili oil was tasty in it but the scallops are paper thin and raw ( not cooked) . It was a good experience ,we won't be back. It's very expensive. But the restaurant was nice and clean the staff wasn't overly friendly. I feel like our waitress was there just to work ! She did how ever answer our question but I could tell she really didn't like her job... she was just there to be there! This restaurant doesn't sell full dinners ( like whole meal) ! But if you like small plates and like to spend a lot of money for little food then this place is for you! They do however have tasty food. And a clean restaurant. Everyone has different opinions , come in make up your own mind ...

Yelp
Calling all gastronomes/foodies in Greenville, SC: Don't waste your time visiting other restaurants downtown UNTIL you have dined here first! This is hands-down, the best restaurant in Greenville. Each menu item is thoughtfully & artfully created with regard to texture and flavors. Each item on this menu evokes the entire taste experience in which all senses combine! The service was impeccable (the restaurant was even short-staffed and the kitchen and servers didn't miss a beat)! YOU MUST order the Tasting Table here!! My photos feature: "The Tasting Table" for 1 person (I arrived starving and couldn't eat all 10 courses brought to the table--amazing leftovers)!

Yelp
We have been many times to this amazingly delicious place -- even before the well-deserved James Beard nomination. The itty bitty fridge they have here should be a clue to how fresh and ever-changing the menu is here. On our most recent visit we were there with a large group and got to experience a tasting menu that was out of this world. The only thing I managed to photograph were a couple of the desserts since everything else disappeared so quickly. If you've ever been, you know the only frustrating thing about The Anchorage experience can be waiting for (and getting) a table or even a stool at the bar. It's hit or miss whether you'll wait an hour or just 15 minutes and hard to predict. Their online "waitlist" is only for parties of six or more and in my experience, doesn't improve the wait time that greatly. Having just returned from London and Paris, I think this is a world-class gem of a restaurant in our sweet "little" town. Go.

Yelp
Great quality fare! All the dish's have a unique flare. I have eaten here a couple times and each time is good. the menu is always changing and evolving. Definitely worth the $$ in food quality and service. consistency for sure, especially with a frequently changing menu. As i say....good job folks!

Yelp
We've been thé The Anchorage 3 times now and this will likely be the last. We spent $230 and not once had our water or wine filled, food was bland and underwhelming. We eat/travel often in Europe so we like something different when eating out in Greenville. I had the short ribs and they were super fatty and chewy...basically had bread and wine for $230. Not a fan, sorry!

Yelp
Amazing food! People and the service was top notch! The full course menu is worth to try it for a special event or birthday! The wines were good and they have options once you are out... the wine expert was awesome with us!

Yelp
Last Friday was a most amazing experience. Hopefully my review does it justice. My date and are both keto and when I made the reservation on Resy I noted that I'd like to discuss low carb options on arrival. Little did I know that they customized the whole meal (5 course tasting menu) for us! It started out with a charcuterie platter (sans bread) that had killer sopressata and a liver mousse that had a unique consistency. On the side we each had a Virginia oyster on the half shell with a spicy pepper (banana?) topping. The next course was amazing. It was a "Fromage blanc" cheese with heirloom tomatoes, grilled corn and peaches (on the side... for keto).. Next was beef tartare and a second dish ahi tuna with a Thai style slaw. The tartare had fresh cilantro and was oh, so tasty. Next we had grilled vegetables and a cucumber yogurt dish along with pork belly. By now, the involuntary drooling for the next course had commenced! Ok, now for a keto dessert. How would Chef Alex pull this off? Here's how. Warm ricotta with shaved chocolate and ground hazelnuts. Jess was our server. Amazing, like the food. Wow, what more can I say. cannot wait to return!

Yelp
We went here for my bridal brunch this past Sunday & enjoyed ourselves! Cocktails were good. Some of us ordered a mimosa carafe, others ordered from cocktail menu. I ordered the St. Charles cocktail. It reminded me of a cognac old fashioned, simple & strong. I enjoyed it since I did not want anything too sweet. The menu is small and it changes frequently. I ordered the fried cauliflower "chicken" biscuit which was DELICIOUS! I was skeptical at first because I thought I would want some meat but the cauliflower was huge & fried to perfection. The sauce that came on it was super yummy with the perfect amount of spicy! Everyone in our group enjoyed our food & no leftovers to bring home!

Yelp
Wow! I was so impressed with my experience here. I sat outside because it was so nice out. Their menu changes weekly, and everything I had was fantastic. It's pointless to tell you what I got since it will change, but I'm going to tell you, anyway. I initially ordered: Snapper with cucumber and pepper: My waiter (who was amazing) warned me that it was served raw, but that ended up being incredible. All the flavors worked well together, and nothing was overpowering. It actually would make a killer taco.... Goat cheese tortellini: I don't normally care for cheese, but those raviolis were amazing! It had was sautéed in a ham broth with broccoli rabe and mushrooms. Clemson carrots with harissa, burnt honey, puffed quinoa, and mint: They were charred rainbow carrots! The orange ones were tough, but the purple ones were sweeter and softer. I'm mature, so I only figuratively licked the plates clean. And then I asked my waiter to surprise me with another dish: Charleston Rudder Fish with beets and a Beet-horseradish-dill yogurt sauce: Stellar. Cooked perfectly and the colors were also amazing. On a side note, I sat outside and you can only have beer and wine on the patio, so I also got a glass of wine. Honestly, I still don't know what I had, and I don't mind because I know so little about wine that I'd instantly forget, but it was fantastic. My server looked at the selections and suggested one based on the food I'd ordered and explained to me the reasons for picking it. I really appreciated his knowledge of the menu and the glass I ended up with really did pair very well.

Yelp
This is the best restaurant in Greenville SC. I have tried many of the restaurants Greenville has to offer but nothing comes close to The Anchorage. From the servers to the food, everything is phenomenal! The Eggs Benedict is a must if you come for brunch on Sunday. I usually pair mine with a yogurt parfait.

Yelp
My husband and I love coming here for special occasions. For Mother's Day, we did the tasting menu and thoroughly enjoyed everything they brought out. I can't say enough good things about The Anchorage. The servers seem passionate about the food they serve and made us feel really comfortable. The drinks are also amazing. Go hungry and do the tasting menu, you won't regret it.

Yelp
Dining here was an experience. Allow yourself 2 hours for dinner to really appreciate the complexities of a meal and drinks here. As a table of two, we chose to do the chef's tasting menu at $55 per person. You will not be disappointed or hungry after this meal. It started off with oysters and a charcuterie board, followed by tuna crudo with a "cheddar" cauliflower tartare. We then were served the agnolotti which had a unique chestnut bolognese. Our main entree was the snapper with carrots, brussels, and potato accompaniments. Finally, our dessert was a decadent, "fancy s'more". All of which are local, farm to table choices that were amazingly fresh tasting and served immediately from the open kitchen. We could not have had a more pleasant dining experience in Greenville, thank you.

Yelp
Outstanding Sunday brunch! Everything was delicious and our server, Rebecca, was awesome. We had the chicken fried cauliflower biscuit (packed with flavor) and the chilaquiles both with a farm fresh egg. The biscuit was a little dry but still yummy. I had a side of grits (curious about differences between upcountry and low country versions) and WOWZA! I'm sure there was at least a stick of butter in the one side but damn it was worth it. Maybe some of the best grits I've had. Their draft cocktail is powerful and their house made ginger beer is a must try with a dark and stormy. Stop looking at reviews and just go! Oh and the building is painted with a beautiful mural that pays homage to bountiful vegetables. You can't miss it!

Yelp
Another great meal at Anchorage. Ricotta cavatelli was great and just the right portion. Delicious and inventive cocktails and great service! We'll be back, one of our favorites in Greenville!

Yelp
My husband and I enjoy food that is adventurous, so we decided to try The Anchorage for our anniversary dinner. I love the chef's tasting menu idea so we were able to experience that with the wine pairings. The restaurant is very clean and attractive with that perfect Greenville vibe. We sat upstairs right next to the bannister and the sound from the tables below traveled right up to our table. No problem though, that spot has a really nice view. Our waitress was kind, knowledgeable, and frequently checked in on us. The food overall was very inventive and fun to try, but a lot of it was not what I was expecting to get versus the price. While the melon, farro, tomato, and squash dishes were good, I guess I was just feeling a little let down based on what others had told me about their experiences. The hanger steak, crudo, and halibut were my favorite dishes. I would definitely go back, but I recommend checking the menu out before committing to make sure you will enjoy most of the dishes.

Yelp
This was my third time at The Anchorage and the first time I had brought the rest of my family. Sadly, this third time left much to be desired -- especially over such good experiences the first times. And it left me mourning once more for the untimely death of Dive 'n' Boar which, in a stretch of 6-9 months in late 2016 and early 2017 was the best restaurant in Greenville. Exec summary for those surfing reviews, trying to decide whether to go: if it's during the warmer part of the year, and hopefully if some of these comments below have had any effect, I think this is an option well worth considering! I remember comparing The Anchorage with Dive 'n' Boar to several people back when they were both open. Whereas DnB felt surprisingly informal despite its food and environment, The A feels surprisingly stuffy despite its casual environment. Still does. Our waiter this time was super condescending and not good at service. & Whereas DnB's food was approachably delicious despite its carefully crafted local ingredients, The A might feel intimidating to those unfamiliar with ingredients that are named on the menu in such a way as to sound obscure or even mysterious. Including when the food comes out. Often the presentation and sometimes even the concepts for construction of the dishes isn't quite right. Note: I'm talking about this winter meal, not so much the ones I had back in the spring and summer. Also, I discovered the hard way that Greg & co at The A can knock the socks off warmer season ingredients but really struggle with winter ingredients. Out of nearly 12 separate items we shared, only a couple were excellent (the bourbon liver mousse pâté, the trout, the semifreddo). Despite their clever names, one cocktail (Bringing Asbach) was just ok, and the other (Gimme the Beets Boy) was awful. Even with an embarrassing insult of it by my father in law to our waiter, our server never got the hint, never took it away (the entire meal, through dessert), never apologized nor offered to replace it. Greg, I want you to know that I'm committed to this restaurant. In my past visits, I've loved your contribution to the GVL food scene (with the caveats listed above which I believe are well worth your while to learn from the former Dive n Boar). But this visit wasn't good. The qualities that made The A promising in its early days are at least a little at risk. I saw you on the way out but didn't say anything. Thought it might be more helpful and more likely to get your attention if I left my thoughts this way. Very best wishes to you all, and here's to taking it to the next level!

Yelp
One of the best meals I've ever had. It's unfortunate I don't live in Greenville. We went two nights in a row when visiting. Went one Friday night for cocktails. The bartenders are true artists. The cocktails we ordered were very reasonably priced and delicious. The upstairs bar where we sat was so beautiful. We went back the next night and the three of us did the tasting menu. What a deal! You basically get to try everything on the menu for $50. Truly a culinary experience. Out of the whole menu there was really only one dish we were disappointed with. They rotate the menu often based off of produce/time of year, etc. I love that they work with local farmers. Have the bartenders make you a custom cocktail. Again, quite the experience!. You let them know what you like and they make you a true work of art. I ended with a smoked Scotch drink with freshly sliced Ginger. Delicious! Truly a must do and I will be there every time I'm in Greenville.

We had a yummy Fathers Day brunch. The sourdough pancake was amazing! Our service was super attentive.
