"This red-brick pub has stood here for over 500 years and nowadays looks as good as ever thanks to its beautiful, no-expense-spared restoration. The stylish restaurant is divided into several rooms – and fans of wooden beams and open fireplaces won’t be disappointed. The kitchen team excel in making their simple yet skilled dishes uncomplicatedly delicious, like the pea and mint soup or the terrific boulangère potatoes, whose perfect crisping and flavour exemplify the virtues of the place. Stay overnight in one of the bedrooms and explore the area." - Michelin Inspector

Popped in on the off chance as online booking said no tables. Friendly, jolly staff and the food came quickly, hot and well cooked.

What a beautiful pub, very atmospheric with thatched roof and a warm welcome as we arrived. As an Abbot Ale fan, I was even happier to find it on draft and in excellent condition. The food was pleasant, with the main courses defeintely being better than the deserts. The mushroom fajita was nice and I'd have it again, although it wasn't that spicy and had a quite a bit of oil left in the dish. The sticky toffee bread and butter pudding sounded amazing, and different - but didn't quite have the toffee flavour explosion. So, love the pub and would happily eat there again. and the following shows my bad taste in humour and isn't really related...... After God created 24 hours of alternating darkness and light, one of the angels asked him, "what are you going to do now?" God said, "I think I'm going to call it a day." How I Mark I may mark differently to some other reviewers, some might see this as harsh, others may see it as fair. But here's how I look at it: 5 star - WOW. I want to go back and look forward to doing so. They delivered everything expected and more. The 'more; is normally about the service or attitude of the staff. 4 star - GOOD. They delivered everything I wanted and a bit more. I recommend them and would go back. 3 star - OK. They delivered what I expected, I would go back if I needed to, although don't currently plan on doing so. 2 star - Not very good. I didn't get what I expected and the service wasn't good. I don't recommend this place. I might get dragged back here, although will always try to avoid it 1 star - This was rubbish. Don't go there, I certainly won't go there again. I didn't get what I wanted, the people were unhelpful and I didn't enjoy it in any way.e

We visited here on Sunday 7th September and there were 5 of us. We all ordered different starters mains deserts and all of us loved the food. Staff very friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere was really good as well. Would recommend 100 per cent. Definitely over that way again will go back.

Is there an option for 6 stars?? This place is fantastic! The food was of the highest standard and very generously portioned, the drinks were well priced ( including the pubs very own pilsner!) doggies are welcome inside and out and they even offer a little something for them on the menu! If you want to relax, eat great food and enjoy the warm atmosphere?! Please give this place a try! Will come back time and time again!

Went here with my family for the first time as it was my mum's birthday and it was a fantastic visit. My sister and her husband and my mum do go quite a lot. Fantastic atmosphere, service, and food is out of this world.

First-time users of The Angel Inn. The welcoming staff made us both feel like we were regular customers. The food for both my wife and I was cooked to perfection. The beer battered fish was so thin, crispy, and full of taste. Very friendly staff. Amazing place. We are going back soon....

Excellent food, served by great people, nice atmosphere in restaurant section. Photos show Double Stacked Cheeseburger with Streaky Bacon and Pan Roasted Pork Fillet with Fondant Potato.

Yelp
You know, I did love this place. But it's rustic charm stopped rubbing off on me when it became very snobby, in my view. However, the Sunday Roast is something to queue at the door for as long as you don't mind paying premium for it. The Angel serves the Thorpe Bay residents, definitely not Shoebury, and anyone else west with a fear in their eye.

Yelp
Up the road from me in North Shoebury . Lovely building with thatched roof . ample parking . Reasonable food .Served in pleasant surroundings. Pub devoid of atmosphere attracts a lot of Thorpe Bay people who are pretentious and up themselves . Benches outside

Yelp
Great pub. Can enjoy a drink and meal without drunken yobs spoiling it. Car park can get busy. Watch out for real ale festivals. A bit expensive but worth it.

Yelp
Great pub. No noisy yobs anywhere in sight. Good drinks selection. Can get busy at weekends. Friendly staff. Prices are more expensive but reflect people visiting.

Yelp
Easily the best in the area, but alas there is not much competion so rather a monopoly. Has always been rather expensive but the quality and service is good. Gets busy so best to get there early especially at the weekend.
