The Annex Hotel

Great stay! We were pleasantly surprised with the vibe and service. Especially for the price. If you like to see a city as local, this hotel is for you. Room was great, loved the turntable and the bar fridge. We ate at the restaurant Raffaella, the food and service were both excellent. We’ll stay again in the future.

Excellent place to stay and experience this great city like a local. So many city gems within easy walking distance. The neighborhood has a great vibe. The rooms were bright, clean, spacious, and well-appointed. The in-room turntable with its vintage vinyl was such a nice touch. The staff were also all so friendly, helpful, and kind. I look forward to staying here again.

The Annex is a very cool and stylish spot to stay in Toronto. The vibe is hip and modern with upscale design touches throughout, giving it a fresh and creative feel. And a turntable with records! |The location is excellent—close to everything, yet tucked into a neighborhood that feels authentic and walkable. Staff were welcoming and genuinely friendly, which made the whole experience even better. Overall, a comfortable and memorable stay. Would definitely stay here again!

Very cool hotel! Great showers, comfortable beds, record player in the room was a unique touch. Incredibly friendly staff. Excellent pizza, super convenient. Nice lobby area with comfortable seating and good coffee. Our room also had a perfect view of the CN Tower. Will not hesitate to stay here again next time we’re in town!

The Annex hotel is funky, cool and comfortable hotel. Our room was clean, attractive in a minimalistic way. It was refreshing not to have a tv and instead a stereo. The staff were all friendly, efficient and helpful. While the breakfast menu didn’t offer much variety there are many cafes nearby. The beds are super comfortable. The AC was loud but otherwise the hotel was surprisingly quiet at night. It would be nice to have a coffee maker in the room. On the whole this a great location if you want something a little different.

Stopped into The Annex Hotel for a pre-dinner drink and snack. The location is excellent and the space has a nice feel a little run down, but service was unfortunately very slow. It took around 15 minutes just to receive our first drink, which meant we only had time for one. The cocktails were unimaginative and a bit dull, and the team seemed more interested in chatting among themselves than looking after guests. A quicker pace and a more creative drinks list would make a real difference, especially for those popping in before a reservation.

My favorite place to stay when I travel to Toronto for work. What an absolute gem of a hotel - the interior design, the lobby atmosphere, and the staff are all excellent. I love coming home to the relaxed neighborhood after a day of work. I won’t be staying at any other hotel!

We loved this unique hotel. Great beds, shower, and very cool extras like a turntable connected to a quality Bluetooth speaker (and a supply of vintage albums). Perfect central location…..very walkable neighbourhood. But what stood out the most was the super nice staff.

It's very hip, feels like a cool loft if my 20-something cousins owned a hotel. But for the price its amenities were poor and below the standard of a Fairfield inn: no in-room coffee, no in-room ironing board, only one wastebasket, a complicated shower that soaked me when I tried to use it (no instructions), thin walls, only housekeeping on request. There is no elevator. And they rely entirely on apps, so if you're not tech-savvy, it's going to frustrate you. That said the bed was comfy, the room was clean. There was a turntable with speakers and some LPs. I would rather have had some in-room coffee than a turntable. Sorry, it's cool but I'm a seasoned traveler and I expected more sausage and less sizzle for the price.

Attention attention, this place has a lovely cafe! Their croissants are delicious! First discovered them on Too Good to Go -- so cool that they're into food waste reduction and sustainability. They've got such a sweet patio, and they have stand-up comedy nights outside. And the bar is gorgeous-- it feels like a little secret hideaway from the bustle of Bloor Street. Very recommended!

I loved this place!!!!!! My boyfriend Jay and I stayed here for a night Labor Day weekend and we had some much fun. It's a great place to stay if you're looking for something a little different than a traditional hotel experience but still with all the same amenities. Really cool rooms. It's like staying in a page straight out of an Urban Outfitters catalog. Andre our host was extremely kind!!! They have free breakfast that is delicious. It's a free breakfast sandwich and coffee and they were both divine. The shampoo and conditioner in their showers is really nice!! Yes, it's a little bit away from downtown so you'll have to drive or take a bus. But what's cool is it enabled us to explore some not as touristy parts of the city like the Kensington neighborhood. It's also really close to Casa Loma which I definitely recommend seeing. However, if you're American like Jay and I, make sure you get your hands on some Canadian cash before going too off the grid or else you'll almost be stuck in a parking garage like we were.

Tucked away in the Annex neighborhood, is a hotel that is truly representative of the essence and embodiment of the Downtown District in Toronto. Proximity to attractions such as the Royal Ontario Museum, the St Lawrence Market and Rogers Centre made exploring the area easy and inviting. The Annex is a boutique hotel has everything you need; privacy, excellent room accoutrements (top shelf comfort for a good night's sleep), a turntable with selected music, bluetooth speaker, an iPad with Netflix access, secure entry, a wine bar and patio and the concierge service is exceptional. I needed to obtain something very specific and they went the distance, and then some, to find and procure the item. Each morning we started the day with tasty pastries and some of the best coffee anywhere. The whole vibe here is one of comfort and care. The next time I am in Toronto I will definitely stay with the people and scene we found at The Annex.

I had an awesome and very relaxing stay at the Annex. The vibe is very chill and hip, definitely geared to the late 20s - mid-30s crowd but great for anyone looking to stay downtown Toronto in a cool spot without splurging. Great coffee (or tea, lattes, etc) and breakfast is included in your stay each day and the baristas are awesome. If you need anything, you can text anytime. It's homey and unpretentious but still luxe - like staying at your cool Brooklyn-based artist friend's house. Great toiletries, comfy bed. Other reviews complained about the noise but I had no issues sleeping. If you're a city person, should be no issue. I loved that it was a three minute walk to the subway, surrounded by awesome street art, and spacious. Just a warning for anyone with mobility issues that this place is a walk-up. It's more tech-forward and less old-school concierge-y but I like that. It's only one flight of stairs but it wouldn't be family and accessibility friendly. Otherwise, it's a very cool spot with some personality and centrally located, making for a very convenient stay.

Had to find a space to do some work and have a coffee with an interview subject. They suggested we meet in The Annex, and I totally remembered that this place had opened up. Right now there is a lobby lounge with a cafe and bar, which serves Reunion Island Coffee. I decided to meet up with my interview subject there so we could sit down and chat, in private. Since it's a bit hidden (the entrance is off Brunswick), it isn't too busy. There were lots of plugs everywhere and free wifi which made for a good coworking situation. Drinks at the cafe ranged in price from $4 to $5.50 if I'm not mistaken and on this day, I ended up ordering a honey chai latte. It was super tasty. Fun fact: the huge patio that The Annex has (right off the patio) is the former Green Room's patio. I might have missed it, but if the lobby had more food options, I likely would have stayed longer. Will 100% be returning here in the future to work.

A friend and I arrived to the wine bar just as they were closing and instead of sending us away they served us with welcome and love. It was so refreshing to see employees loving where they worked and wanting to share it us. The aesthetics are stunning and room a perfect size for a small private party if you're looking for a venue. I hope they stay open forever. Benji

Came to visit with a girlfriend. The stylish interior gave it a very cool vibe for a Saturday night out. Seven lives tacos - you cant go wrong. Service was awesome and would definitely be returning to have girls night drinks!

tried to book the hotel during their promo. got through but they had a credit card defect which they denied until i asked for tech support to look into it. Management was indifferent and non-supportive when trying to help QA their issue. If the email threads are an indication of service then i'll pass.

The Annex Hotel makes you feel like you are visiting your hip friend! Super friendly and accommodating staff, the most comfortable bed, and aesthetically appealing vibe. The location was also a great for exploring Toronto.

This hotel is a near perfect distillation of the limitations of tech start up culture. The pics online are lovely but when you arrive you realize many basic amenities are missing. There are no irons or ironing boards in the rooms - hope you don't have to look presentable for any professional events while you're staying here. There are no phones in the room & thus no clear cut way to call the front desk - wait there's also no front desk - there's sometimes someone sitting in the bar/restaurant/coffee shop area. They text you your info to get into your room. There is no complimentary coffee or tea in the room. there is a coffee shop downstairs - spend more $$ down there. There's a bar that's super loud - so if you have a second floor room by the stairs - it is impossible to sleep. I could hear individual people's conversations. There's no TV but there is an iPad - I guess that's fine. Meh. But there was a turntable and records - and poorly framed artwork and books about the military and women's erotic wrestling. This is a tech bros glorified hostel or an Airbnb with fewer amenities. Buyer beware.
