There’s also an intimate chef’s table, beloved by the city’s more discreet diners."

"The Apollo has put contemporary Greek food on the local map. Shared plates are designed to bring the table together—start with the more traditional taramasalata mullet roe dip with warm pita and olives or the more innovative saganaki cheese with honey and oregano. Heartier mains are cooked over wood and charcoal, from barbecued octopus and white beans to oven-baked lamb shoulder with lemon and Greek yogurt. Loukoumades donuts make a divine dessert." - Sophie Davies

Google
Very popular and hard to get a booking and not sure why. Drinks are expensive.($22 for a glass of wine) Food prices on the high side but more size is good to share. Was disappointed in the small lamb shoulder($58) as while tender was lacking in flavour where's the garlic and salt.? Was 2nd visit after a year or so. Was better the first time.

Google
Loved the vibe here—stylish, warm, and perfect for a cosy brunch or night out. The food was mostly amazing- saganaki with honey? Game changer, and the lamb shoulder was super tender and full of flavour. A couple of dishes felt a bit pricey for the portion, and service was a little slow when it got busy. But overall, a great experience and definitely worth a visit if you're craving modern Greek done right

Lauren Marino

Google
Have been twice now, and the second time was even better. The saganaki, wild weed pie, snapper, and lamb were excellent. Didn’t love the cuttlefish or octopus we had last time, but everything else on the menu was fantastic. The Greek martini’s are brilliant too.

Google
Went with my girlfriend, and we ordered a variety of dishes. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, however all the dishes we ordered were very disappointing, except for the Village Salad which was quite delicious. The split pea dip, the zucchini flower, the roast potatoes, the moussaka, and the snapper were all bland and boring. And worst of all, the lamb shoulder was not only bland but very salty, and we couldn't eat it. Won't come back, unfortunately.

Walked in for a dinner for 4 on a Wednesday night and it was rather lovely. We got the outside table but the service was still great. The sakanagi honey cheese with pita was amazing, and we enjoyed our prawn pasta. The iceberg lettuce was on the pricer side for what it was. The lemon pie was good to share. The cocktails were yummy! Will definitely return!

I called here to book a table, the female waiter was acting like the restaurant was busy, she said she could do 6:30, 6:45 or 6:15. My friend was quite shocked and said 7 works best for me if you can’t do it then next time. She hung up. I called a few hours later a gentle men answer I asked for 7 pm he was fast and efficient, and said yes we can do table for 2at 7.. it was a Monday night. My friend said to me the wait is acting to be super busy ect let leave it. I was like oh really. Well we ended up going we had a dip, it was quite nice. We shared a salad, lamb shoulder, and potato’s the lamb was the best iv ever had it fell apart. The potato’s were crispy on the outside and nice un the middle! The salad was fresh. Loved the meal. Just a shame that the girl made us feel like you were too good for us at the Beginning!

Google
Visited it since I heard amazing things about the lamb shoulder and honestly it wasn’t as extraordinary as I expected but it was still good, my favorite was actually the okra which was amazing and I also loved the honey donuts. My server was great and since I was dining alone he let me order half sizes of the food. Also you get complimentary olives which is always a plus!

Google
I've dined at The Apollo twice now and both times have been great, delicious experiences. The menu is very well balanced so you're guaranteed to enjoy any combination of dishes and leave feeling satisfied. The dishes are on the pricier side but you're not going to break over $150 on a full dinner unless you buy drinks. For the cost, the dishes are well portioned and wonderfully cooked. There is no clear star of the show when the stage is already so equal - you're bound to enjoy whatever you select! The service is prompt and lovely, I have absolutely no complaints and look forward to dining with The Apollo again soon!

Yelp
Apollo was the best meal we had in Sydney and Sean was our fabulous server! Saganaki and octopus were exceptional and the deconstructed lemon pie was the perfect end to a perfect meal.

Yelp
Two of us ordered "Full Greek" option for $70 per person. Very good option if you want to try this type of cousin. Humus, cheese and lamb were really great! Loved the cozy and quiet atmosphere.

Yelp
Saw the reviews on this restaurant and booked it online. The drinks at this place were very tasty. The food was good and some was great, but overall above average. The service came in waves. Sometimes the server was very attentive, and other times I felt that I had to beg to get attention.

Yelp
I love this restaurant. My husband and I have been a few times and the food and service are always excellent. I love the relaxed, neighbourhood atmosphere as well. Highly recommend!

Yelp
After booking a month in advance and being excited to try Apollo. We were seated at the bar, having our knees shoved up against the bar underneath. Where was our reservation for a table? We were on time and the place was packed. Being at the bar made it quite difficult to communicate with the server who clearly acted like she didn't want to be there. I literally had to wave my arms to get attention to refill our water glasses. Not cool. The food was amazing and I want to commend the kitchen on the beautifully executed dishes we had, but a major part of the overall enjoyment was hindered by the seating situation.

Yelp
Went there for a friends bday party, 12 people, table was great - front & centre, service was patient and accommodating for a big group and food was tasty and timely - not stellar but good for a large group.

Yelp
The food was beautifully cooked, authentically Greek but with a delightful twist. The service was exceptional. Thank you Apollo for a great night out.

Yelp
After all these years this amazing restaurant still delivers. The distressed interior hasn't changed, it doesn't need to. Cool, fabulous, trendy but still with the incredible food. Been loving coming here for a decade !

Yelp
It was Date Night for us! We sat at the bar, which we love to do. The atmosphere was perfect, our server was excellent and helpful in recommendating tasteful Greek wines. We started with saganaki, pork/eggplant moussaka, baked snapper, lamb shoulder - all mouth watering delicious and finished off with watermelon/mint/ouzo and of course loukoumades (greek donuts) out of this world! Defintely will be going back soon!

Yelp
Dinner at The Apollo was so tasty - all the dishes had a perfect blend of taste profiles. The highlight of the meal was the saganaki cheese in bubbling honey - just the right balance of salty and sweet. The portion was huge and good for sharing (my sister and I split it between the two of us and that got us pretty full before our main came out). For our main, we shared the baked snapper in brown butter and vine leaves, cooked over wood and charcoal. The snapper was cooked to perfection - juicy yet tender. As much as I wanted to try the loukamades (honey doughnuts) we were sadly too stuffed. So, plan your meal accordingly! Overall amazing greek food with great service, and will most definitely be back!

Yelp
I came to The Apollo for my Birthday a few months ago and couldn't be happier with the choice. First is the restaurant itself. That romantic Grecian room is damn easy on the eyes. The décor is dramatic, but somehow understated. Those arched windows, the time-worn columns, golden lighting and the peeling white walls. Warm, sultry and lively with diners. The perfect mix of good feelings. One might call it an ambience trifecta. The Greek food here is as beautiful. It's what I love so much about Mediterranean cuisine; the ability to extract so much flavour from a few well-sourced ingredients. As a cheese enthusiast, ordering the baked cheese dish was a no-brainer. Golden fried haloumi came out sizzling in a little pan, covered in bubbling honey and dried oregano. So friggen good. We had a group table, but the L shaped bar is super sexy. I want to sit there next time. Our waitress was so accommodating and lovely that we felt compelled to invite her to sit and have birthday cake with us afterwards.

Yelp
It's pretty busy and they don't take reservations so I would recommend getting there early. I wanted to taste everything they had so I ordered the Full Greek. They warned me it would be a lot of food and it really was! So delicious. Definitely the most tender lamb shoulder I've ever had. Highly recommend!

Yelp
My family was exhausted from flying from LAX. So I asked the concierge what's the best option - they said their personal favorite was the Apollo. Wow! I've been to Greece three times. My fav in the states is Milos at the cosmo in Las Vegas. This was as good if not better. Wowow! What a great way to start our Sydney trip.

Yelp
I was in Sydney for the night and my friends picked The Apollo as it's one of their favourites. We went for the set menu, which was a ton of food and great value for $55. Starting with a big bowl of olives and jars of the most perfect taramasalata, gobbled down on top of warm soft pita bread. The saganaki was next, and easily the stand out of all the dishes. The drizzle of honey on the fried cheese created the perfect balance of saltiness and sweetness. Then came the lamb and potatoes. The lamb was so tender and fell off the bone, as you would hope. Dessert was a walnut filo pastry with coffee cream. Sure to say that we rolled out of the restaurant that evening. The only downside was that the staff were quite cold, not the kind of hospitality you'd expect, especially in a Greek restaurant. Tip: Bookings essential!

Yelp
the confluence of why I go out for dinner - special space, beautiful food that is refreshed but always consistent and seamless service. probably the best value in great dining.

Yelp
Great food, great atmosphere, good for a date or small group dinner. Awesome Tuesday night meal in Sydney. Highly recommend this place especially on an off night because the wait can be quite long. If you arrive on a busy night put your name down and walk across the street and grab a few drinks at the Roosevelt. Order: haloumi/saganaki fried cheese), Sardines, braised lamb w/ Greek yogurt, and the donuts!!! Saganaki was the best I've had period. Everything was delicious. Lamb could've had a bit more flavor. The Donuts were lit!! Only wanted one and ended up eating 4 lol. Sommelier was very helpful with wine pairings as well. Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
We were dined here again because the last time was so good.....and still, this place continues to go from strength to strength, and getting better and better! The meals are simply world class, and consistently so. Delightful people serve in this place at a standard that is high. The Kritharaki Pasta with braised oxtail tomato skordalia is stunning, the oven baked lamb shoulder with lemon and greek yohurt is also amazing and so too the grilled octopus. Beyond these three dishes, there is nothing on the menu that I would not be excited about or have again. The wine list is excellent and well priced. This place serves food with love, passion and care...simply an extraordinary dining destination. One of our favourites on the globe!

Yelp
There were no plates (intentionally) broken at The Apollo No "Opa!"s shouted No napkins waved above heads No scantily-clad women playing finger cymbals No togas, plastic pillars or ivy to be seen They seemingly skipped all the, ahem, "traditional" Greek restaurant ingredients in favour of stunning food, fresh, traditional meat and produce, and minimalist, urban-chic decor. Why they would serve up bubbling fried saganaki with honey and oregano and crispy roasted chat potatoes with garlic and herbs instead of dishes called "Betta Wit Feta," "Gyro K" and "Ouzo Daddy" is just beyond me. I mean... what were they thinking?
google avatar

Laurie T.

Yelp
Very difficult to find out how many stars it deserves...I am sure I could have rated it 4 or 5 if we had a different waiter. Honestly the food is amazing: super original, colourful and tasteful. The lamb was memorable. But, when you go to a nice restaurant, you are looking for a nice experience and food is not enough. Our waiter was one of the worst I ever had: impatient while we were choosing and asking for recommendations, useless when we asked him to reduce Air Con (it was freezing), arrogant when we asked questions about wine/food... We were so pissed off that we did not order deserts or more drinks because we wanted to leave as soon as possible. I might be back but I will specifically ask not to be served by this guy...
google avatar

Zvezdana O.

Yelp
Wow, everyone loves The Apollo, huh? Well, we had a damn fine meal here. And yes, the saganaki grilled haloumi thing is something you MUST try if you come here!!! Grilled haloumi-style cheese swimming in bubbling hot honey might sound weird, but trust me its absolutely heavenly! The barramundi is spectacular. The lamb is spectacular. The chicken is great. Dessert is just... out of this world!!! We had the honey doughnuts and the lemon curd pie. The lemon curd pie was just... you just want to stick your face in it and eat it, lol. The service... sigh. We had a total dingbat waiter. It was like pulling teeth to get suggestions and advice on how to order and what menu items are what, he forgot stuff we ordered, never checked on us, didn't clear our plates for ages and ages. Then, mid meal, he shoved his bum in my friends face while leaning over and talking to the table next to us, like right in it!!! He moved just as I was leaning over to poke him in his skinny hipster bum with my fork. I'm not even kidding. LOL. Also, we all agreed that since the mains are supposedly designed to be shared by 2, the portions are pretty small and not enough.

Yelp
Amazing. Incredible food and incredible service. I took some Greek family members, (who are used to traditional Greek home cooking so were a tad apprehensive) and we were all blown away by the calibre of the food. We ordered marinated olives, village Greek salad, fried king prawns and slow-cooked lamb shoulder. All delicious and exquisitely presented, but the stand-out was the lamb shoulder, which was cooked so beautifully it fell straight off the bone. Even more impressive however was the service - helpful, attentive waitstaff who are knowledgeable on everything on the menu, from what dip to start with, to which of the many Greek wines on offer will best match your dish selection. Cannot recommend enough.

Yelp
There's nothing I didn't like about this place. The atmos was great, the food was delicious (we had that greek feast thing which included salad, breads, dips and lamb and potatoes and all other sorts of Greek things). The prices are bloody reasonable for the locale too - so don't fear wallet rape here. The potts point crowd are usually able to drag down any experience with their -whatever the opposite of effortless coolness is - you know what I mean? Straight-cut fringes, big glasses, pasty starvation gazing, clothes that are deliberately mis-shaped, Ill-fitting, overpriced and so on. But not even their mundane pseudo intellectualizing could dent the relaxed sure-footedness of the place. Service needs some tuning but who cares. Restaurants are for food and atmosphere.
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
The vibe was excellent - young & happening crowed with funky ambient music. Service was great. Food was around a 4 mark - I feel Alpha Restaurant has better flavour in its food & is better value. If you're looking to celebrate, catch up with a friend or go on a date - The Apollo is the place to be in Potts Point.

Yelp
Despite the dimmer than dim lighting, being tucked in the corner blocking their wine room door and high expense I refuse to deduct any stars. Our waitress seemed moody at first (probably due to our slow decision making speed), but when she offered her assistance her skill and character were revealed. I wish I got her name to address directly but she took our order in her head and didn't miss a thing. Apologized for the wait for drinks (the restaurant was packed), and was intuitive in providing more bread for the taramasalata and just generally knowing her stuff. I drank the best lemon, lime and bitters I've ever drank (complete with slices of lemon and lime), and the food in general was too good to pause taking any pictures. The saganaki and lamb are a must and the Greek salad was perfection. Ideal for a romantic date, a girls night out or in my case a relaxing dinner sharing food with family.

Yelp
Magnificent place to eat. Beautiful decor, very relaxing. Food and service both superb. Couldn't go past the Lamb shoulder with lemon juice on both visits. Highly recommended

Yelp
I got taken again! And I don't mean someone took me to Apollo. I mean I walked in, was seated at the bar, and the server asked if I'd like some water. I must've said "yes, just still please" because it was only after I'd received the check that I noticed I'd been charged $8.00! Believe me I've learned my lesson to never let my guard down and to always say "tap", "tap",..."tap"! Worst, I was seated by myself. Hey, server, do you really think I'm going to drink a whole bottle by myself? Apollo gets a negative mark from me for running the same con that a number of others do. But I will be conned no more! Nor will I be visiting Apollo in the near future. I've been there several times and always enjoyed the food but if/when I go back I will be on water alert!

Yelp
I was excited to finally have a go at what many consider to be Sydney's best greek restaurant. Buzzing atmosphere with food designed to be shared - it was an ideal restaurant to host our group of 10 friends. We went for the $55 menu (great value for money) + spent about $30 per head for a few nice bottles of wine. I was not 'wowed' by any of the dishes but they were all very good - great quality food assembled with taste and presented in an un-sophisticated way (which I like). Slow cooked lamb, Haloumi cooked in honey, home made Tarama..... Strongly recommend you to have a go at this restaurant !
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
Wow this place was fabulous!!!! Apparently I am clearly a Sydney newbie as I hadn't heard of it before. Well whatever am glad I have now! We had a lovely light white Greek wine - was too tired last night to look at labels so I can't be more specific than that! But it was all about the food! I haven't had Greek for ages and I will be eating it a lot more often! We started with the taramasalata - no idea on spelling there. It came out in this super cute yogurt like tub with fresh warm pitta. We ordered extra pitta up front because there is never enough/can't be too much which came in a cute cardboard takeaway container. Then we sure needed the extra pitta to have with the amazing saganaki and honey cheese which you have to order! We then ordered the salad of the day which was cucumber based with what tasted like slightly crispy dill - I don't normally like dill but this was great. And then the lamb. Wow wow wow!! So tender! And we got complimentary roast potatoes as they had done one order too many in the kitchen. They were also amazing!!!! We were so good full by the end we didn't finish the potatoes - this could be the first time I've ever not finished warm potatoes!!! Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
The Apollo is cool, I know it, they know it, read on McDuff and you'll know it. Food is straight up delicious, service of a very high standard and the fit out that trendy stripped down polished Concrete look (which I personally despise but I'm told is fashionable{looks like an art gallery and I am allergic to an Art gallery, it brings me out in symptoms similar to a peanut allergy rolled in with multiple bee stings[I can't tell you which Art Gallery tho so stop asking me]}). I've just one bug bear with the Apollo I can cook this stuff at home player! That combined with the top end Price Point made me feel slightly resentful. Fantastic Greek cooking in my humble opinion is very accessible to people, super fresh salads, grilled chicken, meatballs, dolmades, tzatziki... I do like the fact you serve you tzat in a wee bottle and I loved the Saganaki, I tip my hat to you for the service of the sacred cheese in the traditional pan and the addition of Honey, well words fail me (but I think I want to fist bump the chef and nod in silence whilst never breaking eye contact with him and frowning slightly with a Marlboro Red hanging from the corner of my mouth and a set of worry beads gently spinning from my fingers). Also no Mythos keeps that elusive Fifth Star from your grip this time Apollo, but I'm sure we will meet again. Post Script (Further information not available at time of review): I've been fortunate to have spent more time than necessary in both Greek mainland and island Taverna's drinking my pants wet with Mythos and feasting on the spoils of the Sea under the stars whilst smoking cigarettes, always with a Bouzouki within plucking distance, so Apollo was always going to be judged harshly by me. In summary I do recommend a visit this restaurant its sure to not disappoint, just bring our wallet and come around 6pm as they don't take bookings for groups of two. Anyway 4 stars, now close the door on your way out.

Yelp
Came here on a date night right before Christmas after hearing great things. It's only a block away from where I live so I was pretty excited to check it out. It was really busy for a Monday so we took a seat at the bar. After scanning the menu, we decided to do the Greek sampler (can't remember what it's called). It was fantastic! Our dinner started with some warm olives and warm pita bread. Then we got a caviar spread that was actually delicious. I'm not one for fishy tasting things and this spread was really good! Then we had my favorite course, the grilled cheese with honey. This was absolutely to die for. Words can't even do justice. Just make sure you get it no matter what. For the main course we had lamb with a side salad of tomatoes, cucumbers, and feta and roasted potatoes. The salad and potatoes were good but the lamb was FANTASTIC! I don't love lamb but I would go back for more at Apollo. Lastly we had baklava for desert which I have to admit was my least favorite course. Regardless, this meal costs $55 per person, a bargain for Sydney and Potts point! Highly recommend.

Yelp
I went at 5pm on a Sunday, not realising that it is usually tough to get a table during peak times - great timing! We ordered way too much food, bu... fennel and orange salad; the OCTOPUS! Oh God - the octopus. Chargrilled, tender and flavour to boot. Lamb. Oh there was lamb. She was slow roasted and melted in the mouth. Served up with a Greek salad, which can be cold, clunky and boring - but THIS one. The cheese was soft and creamy. Plenty of good quality olive oil and oregano flavours - the TOMATOES! Hooooh those tomatoes. Mouthgasm. I have not tried such vibrant, juicy, bright, RED tomatoes like that since... since - PAROS, GREECE! Nailed it.

Yelp
Food for the Gods sent down from Oympus to us mere mortals. Sydney has a thriving Greek community that requires a certain level of quality in the kitchen. Alas, Los Angeles, has only a light dusting of of Greek restaurants none of which are noteworthy except perhaps the provincial every day fare at Papa Cristos behind C and K Imports Market. So, a flight to Sydney for excellent Greek cuisine made more sense than slogging through LA traffic. My Apollo mission resulted in a perfect landing. The kitchen is definitely Greek, however all the dishes have been tweaked, updated and modified to please and entice any discriminating palate. The restaurant is large and beautifully appointed. It is elegantly understated with a large granite bar and soft lighting which creates a lovely atmosphere worthy of a Greek shipping magnate. Plus there is no annoying Greek music blaring at concert volume, no drunks awash in cheap Ouzo yelling yasou and flinging dinner plates against a brick wall. No chubby belly dancer in a sweat stained thong imploring you to put down your fork full of Moussaka and join her gyrations for a bill pushed in her cleavage. Thank the Gods for being kind as there is none of that here. The Apollo does not take reservations (bookings Down Unda) for less than 6 and the place is jammed every night they are open, and rightfully so, as the food is truly divine. For example, the Vine Leaf Parcels Baked Onion Pork Tomato were exquisite. The vine leaf was oven crisped, and laid open to reveal the caramelized onion stuffed with pork and tomato. I thought that was a wonderful dish until the Calamari with Sumac Chili appeared. It seemed the kitchen presents dishes that are both simple and yet complex. Its like dining with Siamese twins joined at the lips. The Krithramaki Pasta (Greek orzo) with Oxtail Ragu and Tomato Skodalia (tradionally a puree of potato and garlic) was rich and terrific too. I only wish I had room for all the dishes. Okay, who doesn't have room for Saganaki? Here, it is served with Greek oregano and a drizzle of honey. The drizzle of honey was new and interesting. It was the ultimate bar snack which was great as the bar was truly equal to the food. The Bar is often the "A" table. At The Apollo The Bartender was friendly, engaging, helpful and made me two killer whiskey sours. One with good old Makers Mark and one with a smoky blend he had stashed. Heroic pours, both of them. In fact the entire staff was efficient and professional. Teh small share plates came out as soon as they were prepared and the yet the plates didn't stack up. Everything the ktichen sent was timed to generate a fine experience. I did my best to shyly forego dessert until I saw the Caramelized Pineapple Frozen Yogurt with Sheets of White Chocolate beckoning from the menu. Go ahead twist my arm, although it would have been difficult to eat that way. I managed. I think a rich dark chocolate might have worked better but that's just one over stuffed diner's humble opinion. Was it Greek? No. Was it great? Yes. Light and a nice balance to an excellent Greek meal. Most dining adventures in a Greek restaurant end in a Greek tragedy, but at the The Apollo it is a Greek triumph. It's not all Greek to me. If I had a choice of an evening at home with Helena Paparizou or dinner out at the Apollo, sorry honey, don't wait up. .

Yelp
Excellent mains, very flavourful and with plenty of high quality protein. Top notch presentation, and service at the bar was also really good, professional and friendly. Slightly disappointed by the Loukoumades. Yes, fresh donuts, but they were somewhat lacking in flavour, perhaps due to a dearth of honey/yogurt/pistachios. If I wanted to eat bread I'd have done it earlier in the meal, although I admire the skill required in making non-greasy donuts. Seating is a little tight, but I can understand that considering rent in that location and the fact they are very popular. Mix of ladies who lunch and business lunches. Not many casual diners. Still coming back.

Yelp
I've probably eaten here 10 times so I thought I would write a review. It's obviously a great restaurant so this is more of a recommendation on what to order than a full blown review. Slow cooked lamb (12hrs at 90c), spatchcock (small but tasty), okra (lemon zest and breaks up the heavy meat), chat potatoes (deep fried) and the sheeps milk cheese salad will make your experience worth while. The Greek salad is pretty standard and if you want desert I would head somewhere else.

Yelp
Honestly, so tasty. Great ambiance. Would recommend for a catch up or special occasion!

Yelp
We had heard a couple of rave reviews of this place and decided it was time to check it out. Friday night, bookings for 6 or more only, an hours wait for a table (sigh). I tried to tempt the maitre de with a bribe but no dice. So we wandered around and stumbled across The Roosevelt, a silver lining since it was on my list to try anyways. More on that next. Meanwhile, back at Apollo, we got a table after about 45 minutes. First impressions are a somewhat contrived un decorated look, with exposed wires and pipes and gaps in the paintwork where walls used to be. A second glance reveals that the place is full of terribly well dressed and trendy folks with clearly too much money all having a whale of a time! Micro mini skirts and high heels abound, along with blokes in tight shirts and the metro mohawk look. O well. The menu is basic Greek fare with a few twists not usually seen here, the wine list average, with a cocktail list that's a little different. Of course you can't go Greek without having lamb, which we did, and also the pork, accompanied by a Greek salad and some pita bread. Amazingly our food arrived before our drinks, and in no time we were tucking into lovely soft lamb with yoghurt sauce and warm pita bread served in a cardboard box - kinda funky but a bit wasteful I thought. She thought the lamb was a bit fatty, and it was! Delicious! And the pork, likewise very tender and tasty. The salad was average, but then it is hard to make anything special of a Greek salad, I'll grant you that. Eventually our drinks arrived, which kept us going while we we busy people watching as a steady flow of folks coming and going keeps the place very busy. Outside on the pavement there is a rowing band of wandering foodies waiting for a table. All in all a nice spot, but we actually waited longer for a table than we spent in the restaurant, maybe our bad as we didn't have desert. I'd go again but take 5 friends so we can book!

Yelp
They do Greek dishes with a modern twist and everything is so flavoursome! I've been here a few times and it does not disappoint. I loved the lamb, octopus, pita bread, Greek salad, Loukemades... Most things on the menu! The atmosphere is nice and friendly too!

Yelp
I've been here twice now and both times the table has ordered "the full Greek," which is their version of a tasting menu. At $55 per person I'm convinced it's one of the best kept secrets in Sydney. All of us left STUFFED with a massive doggie bag as well. You start with olives and a mullet roe dip/pita bread. The dip is good (not too fishy) but don't make the rookie mistake I did and fill up on the bread. I promise the even better stuff is yet to come, like the melted ooey gooey saganaki cheese skillet that is to DIE FOR. The lamb shoulder and chat potatoes are considered the main dishes and do not disappoint; although by this time you'll be unbuttoning your pants and wishing you hadn't eaten anything earlier in the day. By the time dessert came I could only take a couple of bites- I'm not big into greek desserts and would rather have had more cheese, but it was a nice finish to the meal. Great wine selection (and great range of price points for bottles), great service- only downside would be that you can't book a table if you're under 6 people and this place is packed, so if you are going at a popular time you may have to wait. Definitely has become one of my favorites in Sydney!

Yelp
I think I'm slightly obsessed with Greek food! Earlier this year I tried Alpha and absolutely loved it and now I can say I'm a huge fan of Apollo too. I can't decide which I love more. The food, service and ambience are impressive at both restaurants. Alpha is more on the sophisticated side, where Apollo has an understated, contemporary, urban feel. Both amazing! Here's the low down on Apollo... Chef Johnathan Barthelmess, former head chef of Manly Pavillion The Vibe This elegantly simple, yet highly impactful minimalistic restaurant is situated on the corner of Macleay St and Crick Ave. Peering through the glowing arched windows before walking in, I was so surprised to see the place was absolutely packed at 7.30pm on a Monday. Inside - unfinished concrete walls, oversized rustic pillars and an exposed off-white painted ceiling. Will impress This place is great for group bookings; the restaurant caters for larger groups really well. Reservations are only accepted for groups of 6 or more and there's a very generous and affordable set menu to simplify the bill split. I however came here for a casual dinner date for two, which I would also recommend. We only had to wait 10mins to be seated at the candle lit marble bar to begin our Greek feast. The bar area is a little small if you're ordering multiple dishes (which you will be as most dishes are to share); luckily the staff are very quick to remove finished plates. Unfortunately, this means Marc J, Louis or Givenchy will need to be seated on the floor as there are no hooks either. Spend $$$ Mains are between $25-$35. The $55 set menu is exceptional value Dress Code Keep it casual but modern. Opted for clean cuts like a tailored jacket (love the over the shoulder look) or a shirt. Food WOW -We (Evan too!) love the food here. We got a bit greedy and wanted to try as much food as possible so we went for the set menu. Can I just say it's a hell of a lot of food for two people (9 dishes). I'm salivating just thinking about it. My favourites were: The taramasalata is smooth and slightly sour, served with a side of warm herbed pita bread - Divine! The saganakI is a dream, it comes sizzling hot, inside: soft and salty, outside: the crispy grilled layer is sweet (honey) and tangy (lemon & oregano). The slow cooked lamb is so tender, it just breaks into pieces and it's nicely complimented by the garlic yoghurt, lemon and lamb juice... To die for! The roast chat potatoes are a must if you're ordering the lamb. The original set menu comes with the walnuts filo pastry coffee cream but we changed ours to loukoumades (honey doughnuts) , they were really fluffy inside and crisp on the outside, however I wasn't a huge fan of the lemon, honey cinnamon flavouring. The lemon spoiled it for me and alone it's a dry dished, the yoghurt is not enough, instead I would have liked some ice cream on the side. Drinks To drink, make sure you order the Pearsephone (ketel one, st germain elderflower, pear coriander), such a beautiful aroma. It's dangerously easy to drink! If you're not planning on an early night, you must try the All Press espresso! The coffee is so smooth and full bodied. Makes you wish they were open for my morning coffee. Love Bangers x

Yelp
Redefined my expectations of Greek food. The fried cheese with oregano and honey is simply amazing and nothing like I imagined. Lots of fresh seafood, funky atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious flavors. What else can you ask for?

Yelp
Oh my- sublime! We had the bean dip with radish and capers. Eggplant and pomegranate and tahini yoghurt as starters. They stole the show. I never write a review but...

Yelp
On a Saturday night when some form of sporting event had the whole city out and about, there was a wait of over an hour for a table here. But the wait was well worth it; the Apollo has some truly delicious Greek food, and strikes a great balance with simple food in a higher-end setting. A highlight was the Saganaki; the addition of honey and oregano was fantastic, it's definitely one to try. The grilled calamari with olives, tomato and eggplant was also very, very good. The roasted lamb shoulder melted in my mouth, and honestly tasted like it had been made with love - a total cuddle of a dish. The staff were friendly, attentive and downright lovely to chat to, and when we couldn't finish a few dishes, they bundled them up into a cute brown paper package that my mother would describe as "smart". I would definitely go back to the Apollo, which is saying something, because I live 875km away. Enjoy!

Yelp
Trendy hip restaurant. We sat at the bar which is always fun. The staff gave great recommendations and everything we had was delicious. It can be quite rich tough and portions are large so keep that in mind. Would definitely go back or recommend to a friend.

Yelp
One of the best meals we ate during our stay in Sydney. We started with the pea dip which was great. The lamb shoulder was outstanding. Great wine list. It's a bit pricey and stands out from all the fast food and cheaper restaurants in the area that mostly cater to backpackers.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants I went to in town. The lamb was phenomenal. Highly recommend it. Every aspect of the dinner was top notch.
