D.C.’s Most Beautiful Restaurant Bathrooms

"Accessed with a shake of a steel hand sculpture, the lavatory look inside downtown’s ambitious secret lounge includes stacked analog TVs with mirrored screens and symmetrical rows of 3D trinkets that represent Japanese good luck charms. More destination bathrooms sit inside its next-door izakaya sibling Shōto. Doubling as an upscale spa experience, each black stone carved sink nestled around polished pebble stones is accompanied by Aesop soap and luxurious terry cloth towels." - Abi Newhouse, Nicole Schaller, Eater Staff

The Hottest New Bars Around D.C. Right Now

"Downtown’s high-brow izakaya Shōtō doubled down with a next-level lounge in the back. The 2-month-old weekend respite does big-ticketed table service with high-caliber DJs to match. The sprawling time capsule of a space pays homage to circa-1970s Tokyo, when its rock-and-roll era rose to fame. Managing partner Arman Naqi’s vision for the Arcade came to light while wandering the flashing streets of Shinjuku and Shibuya." - Tierney Plumb

If you’re looking for a spot that delivers on vibes, The Arcade absolutely hits the mark. The decor is arcade-themed but with a sleek, upscale twist that makes it feel more like a trendy club in Miami or Ibiza than a novelty bar. The music is a standout. The DJs bring an energy that reminds me of Bagatelle or similar high-end spots in party capitals around the world. It’s not just background noise—it’s a real part of the experience and totally sets the tone for the night. Yes, some reviews mention the drink prices, and yes, they are high, but in line with similar places in the city like Balos or Shoto… what probably shocks some people is the 20% added gratuity. So maybe not a great option if you’re just looking to go get drunk. But, if you’re looking for a place with great music, a lively crowd, and a unique, elevated vibe, The Arcade should be at the top of your list.

How could anyone come here? (Read full review) I have been to hundreds of true “exclusive” establishments- places with outrageous prices but fantastic quality. this place tries desperately to fall into that category without having any of the production or service value to back it up. The production value of the club is pretty horrible, with a bad sound system and non existent lights. The dance floor is tiny and constantly packed. But by far the worst thing about arcade is the service of those who run it. I booked a table the other night at arcade and the first thing I noticed was how poorly the table lines were organized. chaos, people shoving and pushing and the bouncers / promoters only making it worse. finally i get in amidst the shoving with a flimsy paper green bracelet designating me as having a table. bottle service inside was very slow. i was informed i could leave and have a smoke and come back in with my green bracelet. because of the insane amount of people they had let in, my cheap green bracelet got ruffled in the crowd. when i finally made it to the front of the line again after 30 minutes of shoving the bouncer grabbed my wrist, took my bracelet off, and sent me home — he offered no explanation and refused to speak to me. Don’t make the same mistake I did!

The worst club in DC. Service is absolutely horrible and bizarre. I was at the bar with my friend trying to order a drink and the bartender literally took 15 minutes was looking at me, but did not pay any mind. For no reason, they were talking with each other and laughing and just totally ignoring the The customers. I am shocked this type of club even exists in DC

The Arcade is truly a slice of the South of France, Mykonos, and Ibiza nightlife in its own unique way. This upscale, Japanese-themed nightclub is an experience like no other in the District. The cocktails are expertly crafted (definitely try the Pikachu), the sound system is phenomenal, and the music transports you straight to the best European dance floors. While you won’t catch any Pokémons at The Arcade, you’re guaranteed to catch incredible vibes, unforgettable dances, and an all-around great time!

The most insanely priced and overrated bar I’ve ever been to in my decade+ living in DC. $35+ cocktails that were completely average at best. They also added gratuity to every bill, even a 1-drink bar tab. Most egregious of all, they refused us water unless we paid for it. Is that even legal? $10 for a 10oz Evian, absolute madness. Avoid at all costs unless your intention is to waste a lot of money having a mediocre evening.

This place was a total letdown. It felt incredibly pretentious, with no real vibe to speak of. There was no dance floor, just a bunch of VIP tables blocking any view of the DJ booth. The whole atmosphere felt lifeless. The DJs also deserve a real crowd and energy, not to be stifled behind velvet ropes. I won’t be coming back.

We got our drinks spiked despite being next to our husbands, imagine alone. They don’t check bags but cover the front camera of your phone at the entrance so you can’t record inside. Be careful ladies, very dangerous place.

Be aware of this place when it comes to the bill. First of all everything is twice as expensive compare to other clubs around which is fine but i did not appreciate when they charged by 12% tax (instead of 6%) on the night i was out with my friend. So, check your bill carefully so that you are not overpaying. I expected i would be overcharged for drinks i took but that part was good, they were even sneaker to bill me twice as much taxes. My bill was close to 900 so 6 vs 12 is significant.
