The Argyle - Review - Chelsea - New York - The Infatuation

"UnderneathMarkette, a Caribbean-ish restaurant in Chelsea, this cocktail lounge brings some of the same influences to snacks like jerk short rib sandwiches and salt cod fritters. The drinks program sounds fun, with cocktails like There’s Always Money In The Banana Stand (rum, pasilla, chocolate and banana), and PB&J Sazerac (sesame and peanut butter-infused whiskey, cognac, and concord grape)." - Will Hartman

NYC Restaurants Are Adding Lunch in Midtown | Eater NY

"A new 50-seat Chelsea cocktail lounge from the team behind Markette (formerly Haymarket), this spot opens Friday, September 5, at 326 Seventh Avenue at West 28th Street with a throwback cocktail list curated by bar director Chris Figueroa (Saga, Crown Shy, Overstory) and a Caribbean-influenced menu that includes a jerk short rib sandwich and peri peri chicken fingers; chefs India Doris (previously executive sous chef at the two-Michelin-starred Saga) and Alex Pfaffenbach (an alum of Eleven Madison Park and Quality Branded) are behind the food and drink program." - Melissa McCart

Killer addition to the midtown cocktail scene. Had the Paloma and Creamsicle - both great. The downstairs lounge is spacious and has a great vibe. Some nice comfortable chairs around for prime people watching too. My pal also tried the straciatella ice cream and that looked fantastic. Staff were all incredibly nice and welcoming. Looking forward to coming back.

The new cocktail lounge tucked beneath Markette in Chelsea, it feels like a natural extension of the team’s point of view. Led by partners India Doris (formerly of two-Michelin-starred SAGA) and Alex Pfaffenbach (Eleven Madison Park, Quality Branded), the space pairs a nostalgia-driven cocktail program with Caribbean-influenced small plates and elevated sandwiches. Bar Director Chris Figueroa delivers a playful yet thoughtful drinks menu. The food goes beyond expectations—deeply satisfying and expressive, drawing from Doris’ Caribbean heritage and personal food memories. Designed by Fogarty Finger, the lounge is warm and transportive. The vibe strikes that rare balance of upscale yet inviting, equally suited for dinner and drinks or a small group dinner event. Must-orders: Wellfleet oysters Fried fish sandwich Fries (+ caviar)

The Argyle is a stylish cocktail bar featuring inventive drinks and delicious food from the kitchen of the restaurant it resides under: Markette. The PB&J Sazerac was wonderful and paired beautifully with the Jerk Rib Sandwich. The aesthetic and mood is gorgeous, so if you're looking for a cool late night bite, consider The Argyle. Also, they take InKind to save your wallet a bit (get $25 off using the link in my bio).

Finally got to check out the downstairs bar / lounge / restaurant below Markette after a show at The Garden next door. Having been to Markette now a couple times, this place had been on my list to check out, especially after I realized they’d be open after the show for a nightcap. The food is run by the same chef as the restaurant upstairs but they do have bar special items like a jerk rib sandwich with homemade coco bread I’ll have to try next time. The bar director Chris curated the perfect playlist to see the vibe as u fined at the dynamic bar that lowers down to wheelchair height.

We came a little after 8pm on a Thursday and sat at the bar - the decor was beautiful, service was attentive, and drinks were delicious. Loved the unique glassware which really helped to complement the drinks; we got the Do U Believe and Emerald City and both were great!

Great new bar downstairs from Markette. We tried two drinks: 1. The PB&J Sazerac which was fantastic. I was reluctant to order it at first since I’m not a big Sazerac fan and have had bad PB&J flavored drinks. However, the waitress recommended it and it was indeed a great sipping cocktail. 2. We then had the Holy Mole, which was a twist on an espresso martini, and also worked well. (Both of these got recommended by the waitress) For food, we had the jerk club sandwich and peri peri tenders. The sandwich was rich and well executed with soft rib meat and a great spice rub and sauce. The tenders were crunchy and the peri peri sauce made them perfect as a side for drinks. The room is big and has great acoustics. Me and my friend could easily talk and hear the background music without being bothered by a 20 people group in the other side of the room. Overall, this is a great bar for cocktails, elevated food for catching up or a date.

Beautiful hidden gem in near by MSG / Pen Station. Awesome staff and amazing drinks. Top notch buildout. It’s well worth stopping in.

Google
Phenomenal experience, up until the check came. Genuinely feel scammed. This place has great vibes, the service was top notch, and the drinks were great. Date and I ordered Espresso Martinis, an Old Fashioned, and Vodka Soda. $40 per Espresso Martini. $43 Vodka soda. $60 Old Fashioned. Under no circumstance should you order anything off menu, they will simply make up a price and that is what you will pay. I would 100% go back here, if not for the shady bill that the server hurriedly had me sign for and then push me out the door. Yikes

Yelp
Really solid cocktails and chicken in a great space. The neighborhood isn't the best, but for a cocktail bar in this neighborhood this is really shining!
