The 20 Best Breakfast Sandwiches in SF - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"$10 is all you need for a successful trip to The Art Bistro. The cash-only spot in the Richmond charges single-digit prices for most of their menu, including a solid BEC breakfast sandwich with three crispy pieces of bacon, mayo, and hot sauce for less than $6. You’ll need to wait your turn, though—this takeout place probably churns out hundreds of these things to mobs of middle schoolers and early bird golfers daily. Make sure to snag a thai tea on the side." - patrick wong, julia chen 1

Best Breakfasts in San Francisco | Eater SF

"If a middle schooler were writing this list, the Art Bistro would surely be on here. While this list happens to be written by an adult, the Art Bistro is still on here. Weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. are peak hours at this corner cafe and should be avoided by anyone not currently attending Presidio Middle School. But when you find yourself in the Richmond after a long night, the Art Bistro will be here for you. The bagel sandwiches here are cheesy, sweet, spicy, saucy, and only five bucks; the Vietnamese iced coffee is a no-brainer." - Matt Tillquist

SF Coffee Shops With Free Wifi and Good Food | Eater SF

"This cozy coffee shop doesn’t have a ton of seating, but the cushy couches and affordable food make it a favorite with Outer Richmond locals. Food includes breakfast bagels and croissant sandwiches, and the Thai iced tea is the drink to order. Bring cash because that’s all they accept." - Ellen Fort

Google
A real hidden gem! The woman running the place is so warm and welcoming that makes you feel right at home. They offer a variety of hearty small bites with generous portions at great prices. We tried the lemon loaf cake, Thai iced tea, and croissant sandwich and enjoyed all of them - you honestly can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

Google
The bagels and croissants are absolutely delicious, and the iced Thai tea is fantastic! The staff are super friendly, and best of all, the prices are unbeatable—easily the best deal in SF!

Google
My mom and I came here when visiting the Legion of Honor, and it's a cozy quiet shop near a beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge. We got a bagel and a daily special - it was only $10 and it was so good! The woman serving was so nice and the service was great. Would recommend if you are looking for a straightforward lunch and coffee spot!

Literal hole in the wall. Amazing food, amazing drinks, AND it's all super cheap. It doesn't really have seating or a ton of space, hence the hole in the wall joke, but it's a full 9/10. Went there a couple years ago and literally could not forget it. My friends also agreed that it was amazing and most importantly, SUPER FLIPPING CHEAP. I would go here every day if I didn't live an hour from the city. Editing to recommend my onion, bacon, egg, and cheese bagel. Mango boba tea. Hot cider. Their regular bagel and cream cheese is also really good, not too much or too little cream cheese. I also pictured my friend's food, since I ate mine too fast.

Google
lovely little corner cafe with the best breakfast croissants and chai lattes! the service was wonderful and super inexpensive for such a quality experience. $6 bacon, egg, and cheese croissant with a $3 medium chai latte — can’t beat that! was only in san fran for a 4 day trip, and visited twice. if you live here, how lucky are you to have this gem 🍀

Google
A hidden gem! Recently visited this little cafe with a local regular. The breakfast sandwiches and coffee are phenomenal! The owner is just the sweetest! She greeted everyone with the warmest smile and acknowledged regular customers by name. Even more impressive, she remembers their orders! They have truly mastered the art of amazing customer service!

Google
Happened upon this space while on a puzzle hunt-walkabout thing. The breakfast sandwiches are killer, they have SO MANY kinds of Haribo gummy candy, and the folks are sweet as can be. There was not much room to sit as they were doing a little renovation work when we were there, but I’ll say it again, awesome breakfast sandwich!

Google
I’ve been coming here since middle school back in 2008, art is the best person. She has the best personality and hospitality. Her food and coffee is amazing. Would highly recommend coming here and support this local business. Also, can anyone tell me how she makes her egg for her egg cheese bagels?!?? I need to know the secret, they come out perfect every time!!!! 😭😭😭

Yelp
This charming little café is tucked away in the corner, making it easy to spot. Parking can be a bit challenging, but I usually double-park and keep an eye on my car after I place my order. The interior is quite small, with space for only 2-3 people at a time. They used to have a few small tables for seating, but those are not unavailable after COVID. The woman behind the counter, who appears to be the owner, is always there with a warm smile, joyfully greeting every customer. She's incredibly welcoming and sweet. My go-to order is the BLTA on a croissant paired with an iced vanilla latte, it never disappoints!

Yelp
Such a gem of a coffe shop in the city! The best price you can get for a bagel sandwich in SF. Not to mention they give 3 pieces of bacon, delicious cheese they added some special seasoning to, and the bagel is soft and flatter than most bagel, not too thick. It's a perfect bagel imo. A very cute little corner store with the cutest, sweetest lady running the shop. Discovered this place two weeks ago and have been twice already!

Yelp
Delicious breakfast sandwiches for a price you can't beat in the city! We stopped by Art Bistro for our first meal of the day. Unfortunately they did not have eggs because of the shortage. They customized our breakfast sandwiches with other ingredients to compensate. Only forms of payment accepted is cash and Venmo. The ladies were so friendly and sweet. I love the small business energy. There's not much seating, so we walked to the park up the hill to enjoy our food. I just wish I lived closer to this place!

Yelp
Really sweet people that dona lot for the community. The food and drinks are great too.

Yelp
The Art Bistro, near my kids' middle school, is a true gem. The quality is outstanding. You can taste the love and effort in every delicious drink and sandwich. The prices are more than reasonable, making it a wonderful spot for students, parents, locals, and visitors to the city. Each visit is a masterclass in generosity and kindness, making you feel right at home.
google avatar

Yelp
When I saw the prices on their menu, I thought it was too good to be true. Nowadays, it's so rare to find a lox bagel under $14. I got the asiago bagel with lox, and was very happy with my order! The asiago bagel had a nice chew, and the cream cheese and lox added a good tangy and salty flavor to the overall sandwich. I would 100% come back!

Yelp
Little hole in the wall coffee shop with awesome breakfast sandwiches. I got the bacon egg and cheese on croissant and the croissant was flaky and soft. My husband got the everything bagel which was delicious. Very limited seating only about one table outside but we sat there and they served us which was super sweet considering how busy they were. Cash only but they do take Venmo!

Yelp
I found this place when I moved into the neighborhood about 3 years ago and I just love it! It's my go to for yummy bagels! They're reasonably priced and the staff are so sweet and friendly too!

Yelp
A neighbor recommended this place once but I didn't go. Then the Chron listed it as having a top Breakfast sandwich so that tipped the scale. "Hidden gem" might be an overused phrase but you could walk past the Art Bistro and not give it a second thought. I have, many times. But today the Marina Deli & Liquor thwarted my breakfast sando mission by shutting that part of its menu down at noon, and I went here instead. Major upgrade! On time, large, meaty, with super-courteous service. Its unassuming atmosphere and simple menu belies the quality they put into the product. The best establishments throw in something extra, like a chef's amuse, for example. Here you get a free sauce for dipping. Since a lot of their "clientele" are students from neighboring Presidio Middle School, prices are low and affordable for all. A great joint, hidden in the Richmond. Top breakfast sandwich for the price.

Yelp
My go to spot for morning breakfast sammy near Lands End/Bakers Beach. The sammy is only $5 and the ladies are so sweet. Kindness exudes from this spot, as demonstrated by the basket of goods for those in need.

Yelp
Great little neighborhood place where you can grab breakfast and lunch. Very cutely decorated. Super nice people and great vibes. Food was yummy. Thai iced tea was good.

Yelp
SO GOOD! SO QUICK! Love the ladies that run this place. Our first time here and they treat everyone like family. The bagel sandwiches were perfectly toasted filled with fresh ingredients. Thai iced tea was the best! Looking forward to coming back soon.

Yelp
I've been here quite a few times but it's finally time I wrote a review. This small hole in the wall shop at the corner of the street is a perfect location for a quick bite and some coffee or even Thai ice tea with boba! Every time I come here, it seems like a lot of locals visit this spot because they're always chatting with the workers. The lady there is the sweetest lady ever. She's so welcoming and friendly. I don't come as often as I'm sure others do but every time I do, her energy is the exact same - super contagious. Their prices have not changed (or if they did, not by much) since I came almost about a year ago. I've only tried their bagels here so I can't speak for their other items but that's because their bagels always hit the spot. They're bigger than most coffee shops that serves bagels + they allow you to include mayo, ketchup, and hot sauce! How awesome is that? They also use a generous amount of cheese, just look at how melty the cheese is on my bagel. I've tried their Thai tea once since they advertise it as the best in the world. I wouldn't go as far as to say best but it's a decent Thai ice tea. And where else can you get a large Thai ice tea for $3.50? You can get a big bagel and a large Thai ice tea for under $10! Right outside, they have a little small stand for food donations and for anyone to take if they need it. It's such a sweet gesture and it's awesome seeing people in the community contribute to it. Definitely stop by and support this spot if you're in the area and looking for a quick bite. The lady is the sweetest and you can tell she loves doing what she does. She even go as far to come around the counter and bring out your order!
google avatar

Joan J.

Yelp
After reading all of the reviews, I was very disappointed in this place. There was a man who stopped by to chat with the counter person. I had to stand there and wait just to submit my order because the counterperson was so busy chatting to this man. Also, this place does not accept credit cards. The only way to pay is either cash or Venmo. It was a nice day outside and there was no outdoor seating available. Advice to the owner, tell your employees to spend more time taking care of your customers and less time talking to their friends.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this place and found a hidden treasure in the Richmond district! This cafe may be tiny, but the food is SO YUMMY! It is highly affordable, and the food is so inexpensive I felt guilty for paying so little! The people here are very kind and welcoming. If you're ever around Lands End, definitely visit the Art Bistro!
google avatar

Alex P.

Yelp
Went here over the weekend and grabbed a iced latte, Thai tea, and sausage breakfast sandwich. Super friendly and always happy and smiling. I really enjoyed their small shop right on the corner in the Richmond district. I will go back again and my experience has been delightful.

Wally C.

Yelp
Fast and always so welcoming. $4 for a large Thai tea with boba $3.50 large w/o boba.
google avatar

Matt V.

Yelp
Such a hole in the wall place with friendly owners and great coffee! The expresso was well made, and the croissant sandwiches according to my friend was one of the best he's had. The prices are so reasonable too! $4 for a cappuccino? Super creamy and foamy and flavorful. You can't get that anywhere else.
google avatar

Philina M.

Yelp
Delicious mochas and breakfast sandwiches! The owner and staff are also incredibly nice. One of my favorite local cafes!

Marie S.

Yelp
I used to live in the area and this was always my go to spot for fresh bagel sandwiches and of course, their Thai ice tea. Every time I'm in town to visit, I go out of my way to make sure to stop by here.. this local joint has the sweetest owners and the most reasonably priced bagel sandwiches and drinks.. (which is so rare these days). The inside is not anything fancy, but the energy of the people running this place is what makes them special.. they are hardworking and genuinely care for the community... and their food items is always fresh and on point. Their Thai tea is also amazing and lives up to the claim of being "the best Thai tea on Earth". Love this place!
google avatar

Laura J.

Yelp
**CASH ONLY** Really cute and small cafe. Me and my friend wanted the mini thai tea that they used to sell for $1, but sadly they no longer do those. So we just opted to get their regular sized thai teas. I got a medium thai iced tea (now $2.95) + boba which was an extra 50 cents. Came out very fast as they had a lot of thai tea pre-made and ready to sell. Boba was super soft and chewy. But the thai tea does run a little on the sweeter side.
google avatar

Yenni H.

Yelp
Art bistro continously brings quality to their breakfast sandwiches since my high school days. I am so happy that they're still open even after all these years. It is truly a gem in the Richmond community and I wished more people visited this place. The staff is always so friendly and make you feel comfortable in their establishment. I will always support this small business and you should too! Come by after or before the beaches that surround the area to get a bite, you won't regret it!
google avatar

Yelp
I don't give 5 star reviews because EVERYTHING has to measure up, including VALUE to warrant it. This is one of those RARE places. The only downside here is that there is no indoor seating since Covid. Too bad - very cute place, but limited seating outdoors. THIS IS MAINLY a bagel - fresh every morning- and sandwich shop hole-in-the-wall with some bagel/croissant combos for breakfast. We note that the most expensive thing on their menu, the BLT, was $6.25, EXCEPT for the bagel w/ Lox which is $9.50. Everything else is 5 1/2 dollars or less! Service: The charming demeanor of the lady ( owner) who served us was outstanding! We were looking for an early morning, coffee and breakfast place. Both the coffee and the morning special, an egg, cheese, and sausage croissant, exceeded our expectations. We opted to have ours with mayo and hot sauce. Turned out to be the perfect combination as the hot sauce is not too hot, but does have a bit of zip to the dish that accentuates the flavor. The buttery croissant did not disappoint, especially when it was paired with a healthy serving of sausage and eggs, and the right amount of cheese to blend all those delicious flavors together, accentuated by a lovely tangy hot sauce that was savory and not sweet. Large coffee: $2.50. - better than Starbucks and almost as good as Peet's. 5 stars. Special: toasted egg, sausage and cheese croissant: $5:50 - amazing! Although we didn't have it we noted that the Thai iced tea was $2.95 or $3.50 for a large. Normally you cannot get this for less than $4.95 in SFO.

Yelp
This is my favorite spot to get coffee. Their coffee some reason taste so good. They also have yummy breakfast and hot sandwiches. Everyone here so friendly, I always felt welcome here. 10/10 you have to check this place out.
google avatar

Yelp
Thai the owner is very friendly and hard-working. The place is very tiny but can dish out the bagel sandwiches and Boba drinks and coffee drinks once people start lining up. It is a very busy place during school time after hours but during the summer on a regular weekday, you will not have to wait in line. Prices have NOT changed in the last five years so it is very affordable.
google avatar

Charly P.

Yelp
Slay, nice people, smells good, did i mention its iconic? Anyways, their Thai ice tea is bomb rlly cheap cuz yuh. (I was told to write in slang but like its realllyyyyy yummy)
google avatar

Abha S.

Yelp
Cute spot! It's very small though and no room to sit and eat. Great for a grab and go!

Janice R.

Yelp
My favorite go-to for coffee and bagel sandwiches. But it's not just the excellent coffee --it's the kindly women who operate the place. Every customer is greeted with a smile. And soon all the neighbors and newcomers are greeting each other as well. It's a special place.
google avatar

Ryan A.

Yelp
Everything is good here, but here's my story. I get perpetually get weird looks for ordering thai tea with espresso. This place not only repeated my order as if they were distilled sunshine, but reached back and got out the specific pitcher _with the specifically selected espresso_ that stands up to red tea. I've never felt so seen. Charming decor, Kind staff, and priced accordingly. May this place stand a thousand years.
google avatar

Madison M.

Yelp
A cute neighborhood favorite! The women working are always so sweet and welcoming. I try to go once a week to get a late breakfast. The bacon egg & cheese on Asiago is my go to, my boyfriend likes the lox bagel. The Thai iced tea is also a great add on.

Elias G.

Yelp
Sure cute vibe, a little hole in the wall and the staff is so sweet. Great place for a breakfast sandwich
google avatar

Jordan L.

Yelp
This place was great! Came recommended by family so we had to try! It's a cute little corner spot with random fun treats inside. The lady working there was lovely and helpful. We opted for the sausage egg cheese croissant and a bagel and cream cheese. Also the hot chocolate is so good!
google avatar

Yelp
Cute little bistro with such nice owners. The food is great and the cheapest you'll find in the entire Bay Area. 1000% recommend

Adrienne Z.

Yelp
I found this place because I was looking for something with low prices and great food. This is a small corner shop with a delightful staff. There wasn't much seating, but my friend and I did snag a couple of them. While we were there, the foot traffic into this little gem was non-stop. Everyone who entered seemed to know the proprietors. So friendly. Coffee and tea drinks are great. The breakfast bagels and croissants are made to order with whatever you want inside. The cafe might be tiny, bit it manages to serve great food at affordable prices. I would come back here in a heartbeat.
google avatar

Kristine O.

Yelp
Such a cute spot. The lady who runs the place is super sweet. They have so many awesome menu items including bagel/croissant breakfast sandwiches, baked goods, lattes, bubble teas, kids menu, snacks. There's like two indoor seating spots so not a ton but it's so cozy and cute. We got vanilla latte and croissant breakfast sandwich with egg and cheese. They were delicious. The sandwich portion is huge and for what you pay, you get a lot of value.
google avatar

Suriya A.

Yelp
One of the best places for some amazing crossiant sandwich with such a delicious taste by the most genuine sweet owners! I always come back for some more everytime. The service is always amazing! Been coming here since 2016
google avatar

Jerry W.

Yelp
Love The Art Bistro. It has a small coffee shop feel. Staff is wonderful and friendly. Their sandwiches all come with a sweet mayo... if you can tolerate sweet and mayo... then you must include it. So the tuna cheddar is really a tuna salad melt.... but they use that addictive sweet mayo. The tuna salad is very tasty. There is a slight hint of fish so you know what you are eating. Love the crunch of the small diced celery. If you are going all the way with a creamy tuna salad, you have to order it in a large buttery croissant. So much YUM in a small bag. NOTE: its cash only, but they do Venmo.
google avatar

Samantha J.

Yelp
I love this place sooooo much. I used to live near by but now I will drive way out of the way anytime I'm in SF just to say hi and pick up my favorite iced chai latte (best I ever haddddd) Their food is sooo good and homemade. Just YUM. 10/10 recommend.

Orlando L.

Yelp
Bacon egg and cheese sesame bagel with house mayo is the best sandwich I have ever had. The service was also amazing, the lady was so polite.
google avatar

Tadhg O.

Yelp
We love the Art Bistro! This was our first time visiting this cafe. We walked by it at night, peaked in the window and agreed we had to come back. We are happy we did! The sandwiches and coffee are delicious - Tai, the owner, and Golf, the chef, made us feel so welcome in their beautifully decorated corner cafe. Golf went above and beyond to make our sandwiches special. My partner ordered the breakfast sandwich and it was incredible - full with plenty of cheese, mixed with a Mayo/Sriracha sauce that was I ordered the Lox bagel with extra bacon - every bite I took was so satisfying. The crunch of the fresh red onion, the perfect amount of cream cheese, the 'just right' crispy bacon, right down to the cheese-bagel. I washed it all down with a hazelnut cappuccino that was super light and tasted excellent. We will be back for more, if not for the same order!
google avatar

Nadiia G.

Yelp
The best breakfast spot I've even been to: from my lox bagel to customer service- this place is phenomenal
google avatar

Henry S.

Yelp
Super friendly staff. Generous portions. Fairly priced. I remember when the art bistro used to be on 33rd and Geary - now they're on 31st and clement. Different location same great people, food, and drinks. Just happy to see Art Bistro still around after the move + pandemic! Thai tea + no boba - very good and refreshing slightly on the sweeter side (I don't mind) Bacon + sausage + egg + cheese + focaccia bread - good size sandwich. Lots of cheese on it. I added mayo but I wish I added some hot sauce also for some extra flavors. (Would get again)

Yelp
This place is amazing all around. The food, service, and atmosphere. The food is consistent and absolutely delicious. I got the BLT on a croissant with turkey and avocado. They ask if you want the turkey hot or cold, you can get it on a bagel or croissant, and can add many different toppings. My bf gets the loc bagel on a jalepeno cheese bagel. The apple pie here is perfect. They also ask if we want it warm or not. The Thai iced tea is the best I've ever had, I don't normally like it but my bf loves it. I get an iced coffee with caramel syrup and it is again the best I've ever tasted. For my taste buds the coffee is strong but not overly strong, sweet but not abundant, and it's not watery. It's also very affordable! The cafe itself is small and cozy, it has tables and chairs for outside when it's not raining. It can be a little cramped but overall it's a quaint San Fran neighborhood cafe! The shop staff (I believe she is the owner) is so sweet and fun. Her personality is great! She is funny, warm, and inviting. She will have conversations and has been upbeat every time we come in. She is definitely the heart of this cafe. It is worth every penny! P.s. it's an all cash business.

Yelp
Lovely place to enjoy coffee and treats We've been coming for 15 plus years and always a wonderful experience. The sisters that own this treat us like family

Tristan G.

Yelp
Best place to go! Every drink is delicious at a very good price! They're all so nice and welcoming. Definitely recommend. 100000/10 :)

Yelp
Been coming here for the past few years and finally decided to write a review. The ladies are super nice and always in a good mood. I always get the same amazing meal with an amazing drink for less than $10( super affordable for the city). Their egg sausage and cheese croissant is just delicious. I get it with all the sauces( ketchup, Mayo, hot sauce I believe) and everything is just blended in perfectly together. Feels like something you can make at home but it's not the same. Their croissants are made with love! Best Thai tea in the city if not Bay Area!

Shawndina M.

Yelp
You know the coffee's going to bring you so much joy on that first sip before even trying because the color is right. Walked in to this cute little mom and pop shop and the ladies were the sweetest! I got a Vanilla Latte with oatmilk and a Bagel with Sausage, Egg, and Cheese. The first sip and bite were everything, had me yelling yes out on the street walking back to my car. Simple menus but they nailed it with great service and quality. Remember to bring cash or have Venmo if you're here~

Leonid Z.

Yelp
Quality and consistency! I have been coming here for a few months now and I never leave disappointed. Friendly staff is also a nice bonus; this place my go to spot for breakfast beagles

Munazza S.

Yelp
Art Bistro is the spot! I've been coming to this neighborhood gem since 2010 and it continues to hold such a special place in my heart. I usually get their tuna melt on everything or sesame bagel and they always make sure it is LOADED (as you can see the tuna almost spilling out in the photo) and toasted to perfection. Their tuna is slightly sweet which is personally just the way I like it. Tai and the rest of her staff treat all their customers like family and you can genuinely taste the love they put into their food. They are also very well known for their Thai iced tea/coffee drinks and have a bunch of snacks/ pastries inside by their register. With limited seating outside, it is still a great grab and go spot when you're looking for a quick meal!
