This restaurant/art gallery mashup is very interesting. Our first visit, I had the smash burger and my husband had the chilaquiles with a City Slicker mocktail. Other visits, we've had the shrimp & grits, tacos, a virgin Bloody Mary, and quite possibly the best biscuits that I've had in my life. A walkthrough of the art gallery afterwards or while you're waiting for your food is fun. We always leave happy that we stopped by for brunch. Good food, super friendly staff, and a pretty chill atmosphere. Yet another great spot for brunch in DTLA (downtown Los Angeles).

When you go to an art gallery, you expect to enjoy art. When you go to a nice restaurant, you expect excellent food. At The Art Room, you find both. The food is exceptionally good here and the atmosphere is very comfortable. There isn't a single dish here that is not above average - which means everything I've tried has been more than satisfactory.

In love with this new restaurant, bar, art gallery trio!! Amazing cocktails, food and vibe. The art gallery of two rooms are open to anyone to walk though with their drinks too. Furbaby dogs are allowed. Happy Hour 4pm-630pm $9 amazing cocktails, $3-$8 delicious appetizers at the bar. Vibe reminds me of Tabula Rasa or a low-key trendy wine bar. There are nights with either live music or a DJ. Cocktails are made with real juice, great ingredients, and a great bartender. Bartender Francisco makes the best cocktails!! GM Daniel created such an excellent bar program. The food was surprisingly delicious. Really great way of luring us back in for dinner. The staff are really sweet. Love love loved the cocktails and appetizers we tried. Happy hour menu items can change. - $9 HH margarita, $9 HH Moscow mule (given the base spirit option, we picked mezcal). - $6 HH Thai chile wings (6pc), $8 HH fried chicken (4 pc?) - Apple martini shooter/shot is a really nice dessert drink to sip on! Delicious!! Staff understood what ingredients are used in case anyone needs to ask about any food allergies. We visited on a Friday night. The bar was completely filled up by 615pm, and the middle dining area was filled with different parties. - Front area is a dining area is an enclosed outdoor patio. - Middle area is a dining area with a live band setup. - Back area is half bar (left) and half art gallery (right). - End of the venue are gendar neutral bathrooms.

When you find yourself downtown, don't miss out on this extraordinary spot. We stopped by today and were blown away by its uniqueness. This isn't just a dining destination, it's also home to a comprehensive bar, a rotating art exhibit, and a phenomenal team. The general manager, Daniel, was exceptional, personally crafting a sublime cup of drip coffee, laced with his handmade Lemongrass Cinnamon syrup, (as Daniel called it his 'café de la Hoya'. ) The culinary maestro prepared an astounding burrito, filled with eggs, bacon, and potatoes, all generously coated in a mouth-watering sauce. It's a culinary experience you must partake in. Drop by, acquaint yourself with Daniel and Rafael, admire the captivating art, and relax with a beverage. The cocktails are hand crafted masterpiece created by Daniel. He let me try some try some of his amazing hand made syrups and I was blown away by the flavors. Go check this place for the art, for atmosphere, for the great staff. We're truly thankful for the presence of such a gem in DTLA ~Southpark.

Yelp
Love this little gem in DTLA. The vibes are always great, all of the food is delicious and the art is really cool. I've had the lomo saltado, and multiple tacos. and a friend had the wings and ramen. I am always very impressed with the food. This is a perfect spot for just about any occasion whether grabbing happy hour with friends or making new ones at the bar. Highly recommend the art room.

Yelp
My friend and I came for happy hour and we will definitely be back! I did 4 of the tacos. In order of flavor I like them: Sambal Beef 9/10 (make sure to add the pickled cucumbers in this and the chicken satay taco) Chicken satay 8.5/10 Napales cactus 7.5/10 Cajun shrimp - 7/10 (it was lacking flavor for me, but the mango salsa was great) I had 2 house margs and they tasted like a very typical margarita. Clearly good enough that I ordered it twice! The bartenders were both great, but my friend and I didn't realize we could actually eat in the gallery room. We wish we would have done that cuz the photography is really fun in the gallery. My friend also ordered the jerk wings and he said they were really really good. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
The food and cocktails here were AMAZING. Everything was delicious. We started with the guacamole and homemade tortilla chips before our mains. My husband said the beef taco was one of the best he's ever had and I loved my lomo saltado. When ordering drinks I highly recommend The Billy, but the mezcal cocktails and espresso martini was amazing too. What we couldn't understand, was that this place was completely empty? It was a Saturday night at 7 and we were the only ones there. Definitely underrated and deserving of more hype.

Yelp
Hidden gem serving perfect adult beverages. On our way back to our car we noticed this cool looking gem. We were greatly impressed by its decor and ambiance. Super friendly bartenders. They put on a show for us and their drinks were perfect. We even had an espresso shot. Yes they have an espresso machine. Clean restrooms and plenty of unique artwork. Glad we found this place. A must try.

Yelp
I am rarely here in the local Downtown LA area but a friend wanted to come and try this new place out on Sunday Brunch. They were open today and we were pretty much the only ones for this brunch date. I was surprised at how empty it is when the food here is pretty darn good. I wish more people would come and check this place out. It has art pieces all around with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They also have a sick bar with chairs to sit on and a little exhibit on the side that you can walk around while you are waiting for your food to come. This was all our first time and we were starving so we ordered some Parmesan garlic fries (new item), mac n cheese, breakfast quesadillas, hangover potatoes (cute name), the art of fried chicken, and a bunch of tacos. Each food item had a unique flavor and taste. We all enjoyed it and we all shared each dish. We were given small circular plates so it made it easier to share everything. We were able to order items from the dinner menu and we asked our server if that was possible he was super nice and told us more about the different items that we ordered. Also, the drinks tasted nice and refreshing you can order alcoholic ones or none both were tasty! I think I found an amazing place and I hope more will come and check this place out.

Yelp
I LOVE it here. It's become my new go-to and the most welcome addition to the neighborhood. What you notice immediately (besides the beautiful space, including adjacent art gallery where you can view with drinks in hand even,) is how wonderful the staff is. I feel so at home here (and I'm from Hawaii the land of aloha, so that's saying a lot!)...they all genuinely seem to appreciate every customer, from the minute they greet you as you walk through the doors to when the bartenders serve the most delightful cocktails and the food is ran to you. This review is overdue but I really hope word spreads on this gem. I typically like to write reviews only after a few visits; at this point I have many under my belt and each time has been fantastic. I've brought friends from Weho, Eastside, etc. and all have agreed how great it is. Drinks: you can't go wrong with anything you order. None of the cocktails are overly sweet, and they are so nicely crafted/presented. I don't recall the last time I felt compelled to order an appletini but couldn't resist here where they make them fresh (no Apple Pucker here!) as well as the blueberry margarita which I've noticed has been a friend-favorite with the guests I've brought here. Food: tacos are a must- so many varieties! Even one-off selections like huevos rancheros and their butternut corn-nut (GET THIS by the way...it's vegan but so good and spicy; everyone both staff/customers were raving about it for right reason). Sweet Thai Chili Wings are served full (drum/wing and the bar bites that we tried on Fri night for the first time. The spinach fritters were yummy as was the "fish cake" - like a crab cake but with imitation crab meat...may sound strange to some but it really was so tasty. During the day you can come in here and get coffee/pastries and at night there are different events, even a DJ on weekends apparently (there was on this past Fri night when we were there). Please check it out! I want word to spread how great this is.

Yelp
Such a nice space! Highly recommend. All the tacos were great. The size is slightly larger than a street taco. Loved the amount of veggies they added to each dish as well as how all tacos came with a sauce. The exhibit was small. When I went it was a photography one and it was nice to persue after a meal. Will come back to try the drinks!

Yelp
Giselle literally makes the best martini in all of LA. The vibe is perfect, the food is aces and Giselle is the best bartender this city h

Yelp
Ok, so this is one of those places that you can easily drive by and miss. No, really, you can.. I know this because I did ‍ I drove past once- didn't see it. I drove past twice- saw it(!!) but wasn't prepared to parallel park on a one-way street. Then the third time I was able to find free street parking half a block away- yay for broken meters!! All that to say, it is exactly where your navigation system says it is. Just park and walk. You'll be glad you did because this spot has such mellow vibes. Very artsy- yet unpretentious- vibes, if that makes sense. I was there for a private event so was in their side gallery- which doubles as a private dining space- and was nothing but impressed. It is the perfect spot for a gathering- if there's nothing to talk about, talk about the art! Upon arriving I was lucky enough to run into the GM and was glad I had the opportunity to tell him how special the space was and thank him for having us! I can't wait to go back. It'll be soon, everyone was raving about the food! I had their catered items (which were so SO yummy!) but the menu looked pretty awesome too. -1 star simply because I haven't tried their menu & want to leave room to hopefully praise them even more when I do! Bonus info: this would be an amazing coffee/work spot during a rainy day. The massive glass entry area would be ideal to have a perfectly unobstructed view of all the raindrops without pretending otherwise.

Yelp
The only negative is the location. Not the best place in town. The food was great! We were there at happy hour. Prices were great! We had fish tacos, beef tacos and crab cakes. Some spicy noodles came with the crab. It packed a punch but was very satisfying. I would definitely return if in the area!

Yelp
That smash burger was dankkk. Will be coming back to try other menu items. Enjoyed everything and the ambience is another reason to make a stop. Very friendly and inviting location. Looking forward to my next time downtown.

Yelp
I came here randomly to have a quick drink before going to the art gallery next door. The female server was very friendly and nice (i didn't catch her name). As a matter of fact the food and happy hour specials were great. The margarita wasn't strong, but at $9, who could complain? I ordered the wings, which were actually tasty, especially with the cilantro lime sauce that accompanied them. All in all, a pleasurable experience. I knocked the review down a star because when i ended up closing my tab, i closed it with the guy with the glasses... he brought my bill back to me (with no pen to sign the bill) btw. I had to flag him down for that, and then i went next door to the art gallery. After leaving, and being several blocks away at this point, i realized the guy with the glasses never gave me my credit card back. I rushed back to the bar where the card was handed over to me. Thankfully, i didn't get all the way home to realize it wasn't handed back to me. Rule of thumb, always put the credit card in with the bill when you hand it to the customer. Forgetting the pen should have been my red flag... i should have closed out with the girl who started my tab. Lessons learned... also, be sure to check if your card is with the bill.

Yelp
Food and service were amazing - ordered the guac & chips, lomo saltado, jidori, wings, route 66 burger, and shrimp n grits. Cocktails were perfectly mixed (tried the Margo's spritz, cherry lane, and fridas coconuts) and loved the interior design/vibes/music. Came by for dinner on a Sunday night, there was no wait and appreciated that our dog was welcomed! Will have to come back when there is live music available :)

Yelp
Art indeed!!! With full transparency, I work literally right next door so I have a personal acquaintance with the space and the people. That said, I will ALWAYS be honest about the food and cocktails anywhere I go and here they are AMAZING!! My absolutely favorite cocktail is the Appletini, a forgotten classic that's finally be done right with house-made syrup so that it's a perfect balance of suble apple and even subtler sweetness. The tacos are all phenomenal, Mac and cheese is creamy and flavorful, the breakfast quesadilla is a taste explosion. But my absolute favorite are the fritters...heavenly little bites! The space is beautiful and comfortable and don't dare leave without checking out whichever current exciting artist is hanging in the gallery. If you're in the area, don't walk by, pop in and enjoy!

Yelp
Great spot. Great service. Creative menu. Loved the corn nut taco. Looking forward to coming here for drinks in the evening. Simple space with a relaxed vibe.

Yelp
Wow this place just got added to my rotation! We came by after watching a basketball game at Tom's nearby. The drinks were sooo good (try The Billy if you're a tequila fan!) and they had just finished an event displaying the art of local high schoolers, so we got to walk the little gallery and see their work. Afterwards we sat on the couches and enjoyed the ambiance, I will definitely be back!

Yelp
This place is excellent. Great ambience, friendly staff, excellent food, great drink selection, I can go on and on. I will definitely visit again.

Yelp
A great neighborhood surprise Art Gallery with full bar and delicious menu. Having emerged mid-COVID on the DTLA scene with an expansion into dining. I'm always blown away with the care shown in atmosphere and ambiance. Tonight (Saturday) had a chill live DJ spinning easy groove and the tacos are the best on the block. Can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Yelp
I love Art Room! Very quiet and cozy. The service is incredible and they have Happy Hour from 3p-6pm Wednesday-Sunday. Oh and the best part is the Art Gallery so don't forget to check it out!

Yelp
Hello Yelpers! I hope everyone's well. I wanted to drop a quick note about the Art room. I cannot begin to tell you how amazing the art room is. The food is always on point. Daniel, the amazing mixologist, who makes all of the drinks and comes up with all the concept for each of the drinks pairs, everything perfectly with each dish. The chef is always so welcoming and open to any questions about the menu. My personal favorites have been the fried chicken, the salad and the burger and of course the torn potatoes. The drinks are so well balanced too. You will not be disappointed. You could enjoy a great meal and then take a tour of the art room. Right now they have the Sankofa exhibit until late November.

Yelp
Great location and the place is lovely. Our waitress was excellent. Would've loved more food options. It was dead for Friday night.

Yelp
Came here with a friend and the food was absolute amazing. I had the salmon, bulgogi, and sweet potato & black bean taco. You must try this place!

Yelp
We were looking for a private, quiet, yet atmospheric place for a 20-person group dinner in DTLA when we discovered The Art Room in our neighborhood. We rented the gallery portion, which fits around 30 people per section, and chose the back section for more privacy. Previously, I had only had coffee and tacos here, but the wait staff were great, and we liked that they featured and supported local artists in a naturally well-lit gallery. Joshua, the manager, was extremely easy to work with and meticulously accommodated all our requests regarding setup, menu choices, and drink selections well in advance. Robert, the chef, was also very accommodating of different dietary restrictions and communicated quickly and effectively with us. We secured an incredible deal on a three-course menu. The starters included a salad, salsa & chips, and biscuits. The biscuits were a hit--soft yet crisp, super buttery, and everyone loved them. For mains, we were offered a specially catered menu for our guests alongside the regular menu, which featured a wide range of choices such as steaks, salmon, Cajun shrimp & grits, Japanese sandos, and burgers. Guests loved the food! Our only feedback is that the mains came out a bit later than we would have liked despite ordering all the menu items in advance, and some steaks were cooked a bit too much for some guests' liking. Dessert was a flavorful lemon or mango sorbet with berries. The wait staff were incredibly attentive, and Joshua himself checked in on us multiple times to ensure everything was going smoothly. The cocktails were nice and strong, and Joshua even provided a few complimentary red wine bottles for our guests. We were also given a separate Bluetooth tower speaker to play our own music in the gallery and not have the main restaurant music piped in, which definitely added a personal touch to the evening. Guests enjoyed walking around and looking at the artwork displayed around the gallery. Although we initially rented the space from 7-10 PM, Joshua graciously allowed us to stay until midnight, the closing time, which allowed our guests continue to socialize. Overall, we are very happy we chose The Art Room for our group dinner thanks to their great food, wonderful atmosphere, and outstanding service! :)

Yelp
Awful experience. I can hardly describe how chaotic this place is. The drinks are outrageously overpriced, the music is bad, and the overall vibe is just off. It's no surprise this spot never gained any real popularity. A word of advice: avoid bartender Claudia--she's incredibly rude and nasty. I was even kicked out for apparently making Claudia feel "uncomfortable." Huh? Lol As a local who's familiar with the DTLA scene, I can assure you there are much better bars nearby (Library Bar, Resident, Bar Mateo, etc.). They treat customers terribly here. Save your money and skip the Art Room.

Yelp
My partner and I had been dealing with a lot of stress lately so I wanted to surprise them with a special date night. I made a reservation for 6pm however we got there earlier than expected. So we looked around the art gallery for a bit. It was a beautiful gallery! I loved that a Black artist was featured it was so lovely and welcoming to see art that we could relate to! After walking around for a while we got seated. It was empty so we were able to sit anywhere. The service was excellent! Everyone from the bartender to the server to the food runner was so kind! I ordered a Hazy and the Pasta Oilo with Salmon. My partner ordered the chicken sandwich with an old fashioned. The hazy was a 10/10 the pasta was beautiful plated and the salmon was cooked perfectly! However the pasta itself was very under seasoned so for that I would have to give it a 6/10. My partner rated the sandwich an 8/10 and the old fashioned was a bit too sweet for their taste they gave it a 5/10. However I thought it was pretty good 9/10 but I enjoy sweet tasting cocktails. At the end of our meal a server asked if we liked chocolate and brought us a chocolate mousse with fresh berries and mint leaves on top! 10/10! It was a perfect way to end the night! I would highly recommend this restaurant! The music was great and so was the atmosphere!

Yelp
Food was delicious and the staff are great. Giselle's recommendations were spot on with the lomo, tacos and biscuit. She also makes a mean pisco sour! We'll be back for more.

Yelp
stumbled upon this place by accident but so glad I did. They have a cute little happy hour and a full bar if it's nothing in there you like. I love the fact that you can take your drink with you into the art gallery. Lowkey place but def worth checking out!
google avatar

Dave C.

Yelp
They updated their menu recently with more options on the way. I've tried the jidori wings and the washugyu NY. I really enjoyed the wings: crispy with a tasty dip. The steak was excellent and I liked the sides, a great combination.
google avatar

Gabriela G.

Yelp
I love this place , for my first time here to be greeted with great customer service made my day! Love their espresso martinis with tequila and their wings will be coming back to explore more plates from their menu ! Shout outs to the bar tenders :) 10/10

Yelp
Came by last weekend and wow, what a surprise! The space is part art gallery, part bar, part open air street side patio, but not at all pretentious. Somehow, it all works together. It's cozy and intimate despite being so many things in one space. And the space is in the heart of downtown which adds to the energy. It's the kinda spot where even if all you did was have dinner here, you feel like you had a full evening experience, if that makes sense. But the food is the real surprise! It's the kind of menu that has something for everyone-- salads, tacos, sandwiches, comfort food (mac and cheese, burgers), healthy dishes (salmon and veggies, etc). These kinds of menus can disappoint on flavor and quality because they're trying too do too much but we ordered an array of things and everything was fantastic. The steak- Perfectly cooked, well seasoned (not too much) and accompanied by the crispiest home style potatoes with just the right amount of salt. The brisket taco- super flavorful, tender beef on what seemed to be a homemade flour tortilla (hard to find at a non-Mexican spot but makes all the difference!) The salmon salad with arugula, fennel, and tomato- both light and satisfying. Huge filet of salmon, well seasoned, over a bed of greens with just the right amount of dressing, perfectly tossed. Dressing was delicate, not overpowering, which let the fennel standout. Such a fun spot with a menu that delivers on its impressive breadth. Def give it a try. I wanna see this place stick around for a long time!
google avatar

Tyler M.

Yelp
This place is amazing. We went before a concert at the Ace Hotel and I was blown away. Obviously the most important quality is the food, which is some of the best I have had in LA. Their shredded potatoes are out of this world. Tacos were delicious. I also really liked the concept of the restaurant/art room - was a fun vibe. Our server was so kind and friendly. Great pick for a date spot if you're considering. If you go and are not impressed, you can blame me. I guarantee you will enjoy it.

James N.

Yelp
If you're ever dtla you have to go by art room! Such great vibes, amazing aesthetic, the bartenders feel like family!! Ask for Claudia , she's the sweetest person! She'll take care of you. Art room feels like home! Great live music and art! Make this new weekly spot

Brandy N.

Yelp
Really like the vibe of the art room. Nice long bar with open setting. Food and drinks, we're amazing. I like the brisket tacos and the chorizo and potato tacos, good amount of choice to choose from. Drinks were amazing too I tried there hibiscus tea if you don't care to drink also had the art room mule both I recommend.

Ariel Z.

Yelp
No service at all. Waiter didn't even care about customers. We were so looking forward to the dining at first but they just didn't respond to us at all.

Yelp
Went in around 330pm on Thursday. Ordered the Spinach friters and they were amazing! The owner/ manager is very friendly. Ordered 3 tacos fried checken, canitas and beef and they were good in that order. Very cool little place. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
The Service is on top on everything! The margarita was so fresh & the tacos was so great!! My husband got the old fashion, he said it was amazing as well. It has a great happy hour too, it's worth a try if you're around

Alec B.

Yelp
Food and drink are both great, they have some fantastic mocktails if you don't drink alcohol. Art gallery has amazing pieces. They also occasionally host live music. The show I saw had some great bands!

Chris C.

Yelp
I wish I could give less than 1 star. Terrible experience, terrible customer service, servers couldn't be bothered with anything. Arrived to a dirty table though the restaurant was completely empty, asked server if they could clean the table and they barely wiped half. Took our order only to come back the table three more times to confirm what we ordered. Didn't bring us what we ordered, didn't care to refill water. Found a plastic like squeeze bottle cap in the fried fish taco and when we showed our server he just laughed and threw it away. They had people there showcasing their art which is nice to offer but the staff spent more time schmoozing them than customers, which we were the only people in there so really wouldn't have been hard to make any aspect of our experience feel good or worthwhile. Came here for a birthday, let them know about the birthday, not even a word was said. This place seems to replace the quality of the experience with show and pomp, and what lies under the surface is a waste of your time. DTLA is diverse enough that you're lucky enough you could eat at 1,000,000 INCREDIBLE restaurants and never have to stumble in here once. We made that mistake, I just hope other people don't. Food was good but I could be even more satistied by Taco Bell for honestly the same price nowadays but at least I wouldn't have to deal with disrespectful people making a killing off tips they hardly deserve.

LIZ J.

Yelp
This may be my new fav spot. Good vibes and layout. Half gallery and bar/restaurant. Decent food.

Yelp
Super trendy and new. Super good happy hour :) I got the margarita and was satisfied...I got three

Yelp
If I could leave 0 stars I would. I walked in yesterday with my boyfriend for drinks and food before the dodger game, was seated and given water.. and never acknowledge again. We had to walk out and go somewhere else. The girl behind the bar seemed to be new because she kept asking questions to the other guy behind the bar.. but her attentiveness was non existent. Terrible. Waste of time.

R B.

Yelp
Super cool spot. Long tables are great for larger parties. Their cocktails are well crafted with some TLC. We ordered tacos, burgers, salads, pasta and more to share in a large group. Every item was on point. Environment: Good style, good vibes, super nice employees. Bonus: when you're stuffed, you can walk around and look at some fun art.

Savannah V.

Yelp
WOW stumbled across this gem after a long day and let me just say, this place is impressive. My girlfriend and I came by closer to 9PM on a Saturday and a DJ was starting to play music. The vibes are amazing! The food was delicious! Brisket Mac N Cheese was the best thing we tried. We also had the Roasted Cauliflower Salad which was mid. The curry in it was very overpowering. I thought since it had "roasted" in the name that it was going to be a hot dish, but it was cold. We also shared the Hangover Potatoes, Pasta Olio with chicken, and Fried Chicken Sandwich. The Hangover Potatoes were pretty good. The Pasta Olio was alright. Kinda bland. The "sauce" is literally just olive oil and the chicken was super dry and well done. The Fried Chicken Sandwich was amazing though! I convinced the guy next to me to order it and when he took his first bite, he had the same reaction as me, "OH MY GOD! " haha the green sauce that it comes with makes the sandwich even better! After dinner we walked around the art room and admired the art. Very cool concept. Loved this place and will be back very soon, definitely bringing friends!

Yelp
Went a few weeks ago and the food, drinks, art and staff made it a place I definitely wanted to go back. They have random events, tonight it's a comedy show....looking forward to some more fun. Plenty of parking across the street. Casual, laid back environment.

Yelp
The food here is so fantastic, we've come twice in the same week, which we never do. The first time we enjoyed the broccoli mushroom almondaise, romesco & beet, butternut cornut, & salmon tacos - amazing! This time we're enjoying the mac & cheese & breakfast burrito. The avocado lime creme sauce is delicious on the burrito, highly recommend. The atmosphere & music are chill, which adds to the appeal for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Oh, & they're dog friendly! They even brought out a bowl of water for our pitbull, which was thoughtful. Overall, we love this place & highly recommend! Sorry about the photos, we inhaled the food before remembering to take photos.
