"Led by Los Angeles chef D. Brandon Walker, this 3,500-square-foot hybrid cafe/restaurant/gallery in South Park (corner of 9th and Olive) will open in late March or April inside a rehabbed 1915 building a block from the Ace Hotel and Freehand. It will initially operate as a grab-and-go focusing on breakfast and lunch—think breakfast burritos and vegan falafel salads—with a light evening bar-bites service before expanding by summer into a fuller dinner program featuring pastas, steaks, burgers, drinks, and occasional tasting-menu nights presented in the attached Seasons LA gallery. The stark cafe, designed by award-winning AUX Architecture, is intended to work cohesively with the gallery for live events and installations. Walker, known for the now-closed Mar Vista and his MV Grab & Go, emphasizes community-building—staffing kitchens through a streets-to-employment pipeline with the St. Joseph Center—and plans to continue that social mission with this venue." - Farley Elliott
