Austin’s Standout Queer-Owned Bars & Restaurants - Austin - The Infatuation

"Finally, a gay bar somewhere other than Downtown. This newer spot in Northeast Austin is part of the Eagle franchise, with locations in New York City, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. It’s primarily a leather bar, but you don’t have to have body hair and a harness to play trivia on Thursdays or watch RuPaul’s Drag Race on Fridays. (You might want them for kink bingo on the first Sunday afternoon of the month, though.) Naturally, things get rowdier as the night progresses. This is where to go for cheap drinks and burly men." - matthew jacobs

Best LGBTQ Bars in Austin | Eater Austin

"One of the city’s newest gay bars is also the only one located outside of Downtown. The Austin Eagle is a neighborhood leather bar in Northeast Austin that hosts a ton of fun activities throughout the week, like RuPaul’s Drag Race viewing parties, karaoke, trivia, and leather and kink events. The food and drink specials here change frequently, but highlights include 75 cent wings all day on Tuesday, $10 burger and beer happy hour on Thursdays, free ice cream on Saturdays and beer and barbecue on the outdoor patio on Sundays." - Lane Gillespie

So much fun! They just had their 2 year anniversary party! Right now is the best time to continue to support local 🌈 businesses! Ordered the club, it is HUGE. Came to see a performer on a Sunday night and it did not disappoint! Also, loved that they had an interpreter. The owners are absolute gems. Thank you for being awesome!

One of my FAVORITE Austin hangouts. However, this is the second time I’ve been here with a utilities issue. First time it was no power, today it’s no A/C😅 I vote you close your doors when these things happen. On to somewhere that is well cooled with these Austin temps😵‍💫

Always an amazing time here with the Gay Leather and Kink communities. They also have Drag Shows and other events for ALL sexual orientations. EVERYONE is welcome here - and the vibes are always GREAT!

Love coming here when visiting Austin. It’s kinda dead during week days but fridays and Saturdays are packed. Love the staff. Place is big with the outside area.

Google
I bought a sandwich and Topo Chico that was listed at $14, but I was shocked to see I was charged $22 total. Turns out a fraudulent tip was added without my knowledge or consent. That’s an $8 overcharge, absolutely unacceptable. Total rip-off. Be careful if you eat here check your receipt before you pay!

I came here for FUR. It was a lot of fun. The drinks, however, were quite weak, and didn't taste good. I could hardly taste either vodka or cherry in my cherry vodka sour. I ended up asking for the girliest drink they had - and got served a sex on the beach slush, which at least tasted good. The vibe is always fun every time I've gone.

Google
It's asking me to rate the Eagle :P I haven't been too often but they host events from my community there and provide what seems to be a safe environment for everyone to just be themselves. I don't know why anyone would rate anything but 5 stars who comes here.

Yelp
The Austin Eagle might be the best bar in town, but probably not for the reasons you'd think. The location can be a bit of a trip (unless you live in north east Austin, as I do), the food isn't going to score a James Beard award, the bathroom smells (as noted in other reviews) can be off-putting, and the staff can frankly be inconsistent. That said - the space The Eagle has created for queers and kinksters is second to none...in Austin. If you're looking for the NY Eagle - go to New York, and if you're looking for a dark room - check out Berlin. Adjust your expectations to something like an "Eagle Lite," bring a good attitude, and commend this place for the incredible community they're promoting through great programming, community fundraisers, and a safe space.

Yelp
I had an opportunity to visit the Austin Eagle for lunch during its soft opening period. Located in east Austin in an area of office parks, the Eagle is an easy drive just off of Hwy 290. The bar space has an industrial theme with red, black, and stainless steel the predominant colors. There are two long bars on either side of the dining/dance floor, and a very nice outdoor patio that wraps around the building, providing plenty of opportunities to socialize. The pub menu has a nice selection of appetizers, entrees and desserts including vegetarian options. The entrees include three kinds of street tacos, and a Tuesday night special of a steak dinner. There are also several varieties of burgers-I chose the Eagle Nest, a half-pound Angus patty on a brioche bun topped with thick Texas-style bacon and a fried egg with a spicy mayo, onion, lettuce and tomato. Accompanied by seasoned fries, the burger was cooked exactly as requested (medium-rare) and really meaty and delicious with the perfectly crispy bacon. I'll have to come back and try dinner with one of the desserts, carrot cake, German chocolate cake or cheesecake. Bartender Nate provided friendly and attentive service. There's plenty of free parking in the neighborhood so you won't have to spend a ton of money feeding the meter or a city garage. This is going to be a fun venue and an alternative to the downtown bars especially if you live in east or north Austin, Round Rock, Pflugerville, Manor and surrounding towns. With the daily opening at 11 am, it will also provide a great lunch place for the area. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Thursdays trivia is amazing! Come before for their happy hour, get a little tipsy, then play trivia for free with prizes at the end for winners. The host Malibu Imported will keep you entertained for sure! Humor, wit, charisma and good music between questions!

Yelp
Excited there's a new gay/kink bar to visit in the area! My pup and I came here for the karaoke pup play event night (every third Wednesday, 8PM I believe) to check it out. The parking lot does not have many spaces, and we slipped into one that was really overflow for the neighboring gas station/convenience store, as many others had obviously done, LOL. But I noticed there was also plenty of nearby parallel street parking available too. All of the parking is free, hooray! Also nice location away from downtown. We were each carded on entry and made our way inside. The interior is a bit small and there aren't skads of tables/chairs... with so many folks packed into the place, it was hard to find a place to stand, however it wouldn't totally surprise me if some folks consider that a plus... better to meet someone, right? Not why we were there though, haha. We mingled a bit though. They had a couple employees staffing the bar who were managing to keep up alright, only a small wait to purchase a beverage. I asked for something sweet and fruity and was given what amounted to two pours of Deep Eddy Ruby Red (an Austin OG), a squeezed lime, a maraschino cherry, and a whole lotta ice. More tart than sweet, my friend, LOL. Gotta be good at making drinks for gay twinks... I want something FABULOUS. Cost $9.75, not great not terrible pricing. The bartender also didn't bother giving my partner the water he requested... so, um, k. I really appreciated that they had decorated the interior decor for the evening with pup pride flags and banners. It was a nice touch. I was also extremely appreciative of the two All Gender restrooms in the back. Hooray for inclusivity! There was a long list to wait to do a karaoke song, but my husband quite enjoyed doing his number. I hope they will tweak their sound system in the future though, as the music was a bit quiet and hard to hear the song over the other noise in the small building. The mic was also pretty garbled. But we had fun and will be back again perhaps next month. With some small improvements, I could see myself upping this rating to a 5-star.

Yelp
Great local bar catering to everyone in the LGBT+ community and their allies. Especially love Trivia Night with Malibu Imported!

Yelp
The staff at this bar was beyond friendly!! My best friend and I were in town visiting for the weekend and the bar was more than welcoming. Definitely a great place to relax and have a drink and some good food or to party it up with friends later in the night. They made us feel like friends not just visitors.

Yelp
I've been coming to this bar for the last 8 or so months and I absolutely love it. Early in the day it is a nice casual bar where you can hang out and socialize, later in the evening it starts to crank up the music and be more high energy. All of the staff I have met are extremely friendly. It is a kink bar so keep that in mind, but it has a very welcoming feel. They have a bunch of awesome events, I love the kinky karaoke and kink bingo. As one positive shout out that I really appreciate; they serve Ritual drinks (a line of non-alcoholic alcohol alternatives), as someone who is sober I really love having that option. I haven't come across another bar that does that.

Yelp
Have only been here 3 times & other than the first time - each time I've went back the experience has gotten worse. The first time I came here I got the Eagle burger medium well + taters and it was pretty good. The 2nd time ordered another burger and noticed it was slightly pink in the middle (no photos of that) ... so when I returned today I specifically stated that I do not want any pink in my burger. Service took extremely long , nearly 30 minutes to get a burger + fries out. Once I opened the box the burger was put thrown together extremely SLOPPY... & once I finally started eating I became nauseous. Take a look & see the inside of my burger is completely fucking pink after I specifically asked for no pink I'm the burger it's almost as if the cook was being funny in response to the request or he just ignored what my sever told him. P.S. building Is way too small to play the music so loud it's annoying...

Yelp
I'm coming to Tbe Eagle every time I'm in town! If I lived there, you couldn't keep me away from their delicious brunch. I love how fun, fine, and friendly everyone is.... the owners, the bar staff, The DJs, the guests... it's just a really fun time. I even got to sit for a bootblack last weekend. My leather was thirsty and got the love it needed. I suggest checking their social media to see what's popping and to visit on a night that looks exciting to you. Be sure to check out the red chair and the local art on the patio, out back.

Yelp
Let's hear it for The Austin Eagle! Finally an Eagle in Austin. Specific bar/restaurant that welcomes all. The space is great with a nice outdoor area to enjoy a drink with friends. Bartenders that serve amazing mixes and cold draft IPA with a smile (and a wink). The D.J. drops incredible beats and Crail hosts a entertaining drag show on occasion. Can't speak for the food...yet! Sunday Funday this weekend maybe. Tip: Parking can be a challenge and be mindful of the "No Parking cars will be towed" signs and be kind to other businesses. Love wins

Yelp
My first time .. Wonderful bartender great service. The bad rave music all night, no was dancing. Most customers were outside to get away from the DJ bad selection of music. This could be a nice bar to go back to on next visit. I hope the owners upgrade the music in the future.

Yelp
Love the staff here. Very friendly and welcoming. Every time. I wish they had food past 9:00 PM All in all. Very versatile place for a lot of people.

Yelp
My Husband and I dropped in to meet some friends. We had a party of 8. The space was clean clean clean. Our server greater us promptly and beverages delivered quickly. A few in our party had beer (they have a nice selection of beer), while others stuck to water and iced tea. (I had a lightly sweetened sweet tea and it was perfect) We shared a few appetizers. We sampled the onion rings, fried mushrooms and The Tater Cake Jumbos. Everything was prepared fresh and delivered piping hot to their table. On to burgers. Omg. 'Dats one tasty burger. I had the Eagle Burger (half pound with Eagle sauce, lettuce, pickles, tomato. Medium. Skipped the onion but thats just my preference. ) The burger was cooked perfectly and came with a generous side of seasoned fries. I dislike ketchup ( that's just me again) so asked for some BBQ sauce for my fries. The server brought me a fresh cup of Jack Daniel's BBQ sauce. I am not sure if they make this blend there, but it was absolutely delightful and next time, will have that on my burger. We visited during weekend lunch service so the mood was energetic with an easy energy that was enjoyed by all. Oh. I was crushing hard on our server. He had a smile and playfulness that had me grinning ear to ear. He was friendly and delightfully engaged with the energy of our party. ( just a group of friends that realized we haven't seen each other since COVID and perhaps our enthusiasm was apparent.) Bottom line. We'll be back. There is a whole bunch of menu we still need to sample. And as working folk, Tuesdays may be hard, but I fully intend to get down there to Tuesday Steak Night. No bad news here on any level. There's adequate parking for day visits for sure . And supporting a new venue that is LBGQT positive with EXCEPTIONAL food, cleanliness and friendly, efficient staffing... you can't go wrong with a visit to this new and exciting business in East Austin.

Yelp
So I realized the situation: If the Manger lets you smell his arm pits then you end up getting great service !! If you're an average dude just in for an early afternoon cocktail and some good tasting hot non greasy cold fries YOU ARE OUT OF LUCK Come on guys pay attention to people what they're ordering please look up in a bartender's guide how to make a drink do so please!!! Instead of Winging it Speaking of wings mine were nasty

Yelp
Take note: THIS IS A BAR / RESTAURANT / COMMUNITY FETISH-FRIENDLY SPACE Food: 5-star For the price, the servings are generous. I got to speak with the menu planner and The Austin Eagle really did a great job at offering affordable, tasty meals. Service: 5-star Came with a large crowd at 2pm, and service was still speedy given the number of people ordering food and drinks. Ambiance: 4-star Think of a modern leather bar. I've come several times, during a local kink weekend event, during a regular evening to socialize, and during midafternoon to eat with a large group. Every time, the crowd is consistently pro-kink and LGBT-friendly. I repeat, Trans-friendly and all-friendly.

Yelp
We just had the BEST time and the BEST food here. Everyone was so nice and the food was great. Happy hour is 4-8 which is so long. The music was great. The decor was gay-bar-cute. Seriously go here. LOVE IT!

Yelp
Decided to come have dinner and drinks with the bf to check out the new place. We were excited to get a Eagle here in Austin. We ended up being overcharged for drinks well over $100. I went back the next day to get a refund. We got the refund and thought we were good. Fast forward a week later (today) and they have all of a sudden re-charged me again for the table over $100! It already cleared last week. Now, I have to go through the hassle of disputing this again! This is very shady! Disappointing! If I decide to return to this establishment, I will not be opening a bar tab, as now I don't trust the staff! Not a good first experience!

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
The $3.50 fried mushrooms are unbelievable. Fresh, hot, and a bunch of them in an order, these little shroomies do not disappoint. I ordered the spicy Eagle sauce. They taste like fresh mushrooms, not frozen. The service was friendly, fast, cozy. The drop-dead gorgeous bartender offered to let me sample the booze before I bought it. Yes, please. The drink specials are cheap. Did I mention hot bartenders? Yeah, that. I will be back.

Yelp
Friendly, inclusive and awesome spot. A great place for LGBTQ folks to hang out and socialize. My husband and visited from LA and didn't know much about this new location. We were very pleased and pleasantly surprised. Loved it here. Absolutely will return. An awesome spot with amazing people and good service. Definitely go here!

Kyle A.

Yelp
It's so refreshing to have a bar that feels this welcoming. On Thanksgiving, I needed a spot that felt welcoming and kind and they were there with smiles on their faces and food available for everyone. Seriously one of my new favorites- thanks yall for being here and doing what you do!

Mike M.

Yelp
Menu is spot on! Great app's, burgers, sandwiches. Meatballs are to die for. Happy Hour pricing can't be beat for good and quality beverages. "Wells" are above and beyond.

Jamie T.

Yelp
been in Austin 2 weeks and this is the worst bar so far. I went in on a Friday night 8pm. One bartender. One. I sat at the bar with about 4 other people and waited and waited on service. When bartender did pay attention to those of us at the bar we had to repeat our order and names several times. I wanted drinks and food but all that was being served was the never ending line of people walking up to the register. Had two drinks finally gave up and left. It also smelled pretty bad in there not sure if it was a sewer issue or something cooking. do not recommend

Dacoda M.

Yelp
mixologist services are suck and they cut my line and they take ahead order come up closed kitchen

Luiz Claudio P.

Yelp
Best gay bar in town! Best burgers, staff super friendly, and great atmosphere! Love this place

Yelp
The vibe and music were just what I needed and the drinks were stiff. Josh hooked it up with some new [to me] cocktails.
