The Authentique Wine Bar & Crêperie

Stepping into this French restaurant was like being transported straight to Paris! The ambiance was simply delightful, authentically French with charming decor and a cozy, inviting atmosphere. The addition of live music truly elevated the experience, providing the perfect soundtrack to our evening. We started with the wine flight, which was an excellent choice, allowing us to sample a wonderful selection of both white and red wines – each one a fantastic representation. For our meal, the crepes were absolutely excellent, perfectly prepared and bursting with flavor. The charcuterie board was another highlight; it was incredibly well-curated, and the bread that accompanied it was exceptionally good, making every bite a pleasure. What truly made our night special was the outstanding customer experience, particularly thanks to Alex. He was wonderfully engaging and even entertained us, giving us the perfect opportunity to practice our French! It added such a unique and personal touch to our dinner. Overall, this restaurant offers a fantastic culinary journey with an authentic feel and exceptional service. Highly recommended for a memorable French dining experience!

I had the pleasure of hosting my retirement party at the Authentique. Alex and Philippine made the process so easy and so fun. I was able to have everything just the way I wanted. The food was of the highest quality, and the drinks were amazing, as always. My guests were happy and I was thrilled. It was absolutely the perfect party. The service was incredible, thanks to Alex, Philippine, and Ben. Thanks so much to all of you. As a regular to this restaurant, I would highly recommend using them for a private event.

Made a reservation Friday night since it’s a small place. The French wine options were great. I enjoyed a port wine at the end. The sandwiches with a salad weren’t enough, so we ordered the cheese plate. The butter was fantastic! Everything was. Really enjoyed ourselves and the live jazz music.

We had the BEST time at the French wine tasting! Alex was so great - his knowledge and passion for French wines is palpable. Perhaps the first tasting I’ve ever been to where I’ve genuinely loved every wine that I tasted. Can’t wait to return :)

I have never been to a place that has such care and mindfulness. They make sure every dish is made to perfection and you can tell how authentic it is ( lives up to its name). Our server was a actaully from France and talked to us a little bit about her experince and care for this restaurant and food. All I got was the charcuterie board but that was the best charcuterie board I have had in my life. A blend of fresh cheeses and cured meats with a great selection of sides. I cant recommend this place enough, Service 10/10, atmosphere ( had some live music that was great background music) 10/10, food 10/10 (from what we tried. An absolute gem in east nashville. Overall score: 4.8/5

Wow - talk about a business owner who knows his stuff and how to serve! Alex is the best of the best. I’m not even a wine lover, as much as the main clientele but holy cow did he make me want to be! He was equally informative, entertaining, and passionate about French wine. Can’t speak to the food but it smelled amazing! Will be back and if anyone has a knack or desire to learn about French wine this is your spot. Look no further!

This place is truly a Nashville gem! The restaurant immediately makes you feel like you've left East Nashville and entered into a beautiful 1920s French themed wine cellar. The interior design alone is captivating and if you visit during their live Jazz hour, it adds even more to the experience. The owner is extremely knowledgeable of all of his wines and makes you feel very welcomed the moment you walk through the doors. The food is also amazing and they all pair so well with the unique wine selection. This place has easily become of of my favorite East Nashville Gems

My friend brought me here for my birthday! I was extremely pleased with our time at the authentique. Our waiter was very knowledgable about every wine on the menu. This is helpful for me, as I dont know specifics just general information about wine. It was so fun to learn about the kinds of wine they have. We did the specialty red flight. It was five different wines ranging from least bold to most. Sadly for me, my favorite was the most expensive one. Although, I will probably not buy a whole bottle of this it was very fun to try. They also threw in a birthday surprise- salted caramel crepe. It was quite literally the best crepe Ive ever had (Ive only eaten crepes in France up until now). The entire establishment (two workers and three customers) sang happy birthday to me. It was very special, I would highly recommend the authentique.

It was a great spot to catch up with friends or have an intimate date. The live music was a nice classy touch to our wine experience. The staff were attentive and the food was delish. The steak tartar is a must have. It blends well with the saltiness from the capers, egg yolk, and spicy Dijon. I was very tempted to order another round. The sparkling flight was fun and every single one was amazing. Be sure to make a reservation as this quaint establishment fills to capacity.

Warm and cozy, The Authentique is perfect for date nights, girls outings and solo adventures alike. I'll be a regular and recommend for all of the above!

Stopped in for a couple of glasses of wine. Great vibe! Beautiful interior. Wine-tender was very knowledgeable and super friendly. They had a small jazz duo who started at 630. Definitely be back for the midweek HH!!

First time back since the ownership change. The owners were present and involved. The new food menu is great. I enjoyed my crepe. I also liked the wine flight. They had live jazz music which I enjoyed. Just a great atmosphere. I'll be back.

Recently moved to the East side of the city and have been in search of a chill wine bar, and then boom, we spotted The Authentique (Thanks Yelp!) The Authentique is a French inspired wine bar that sits in a non-descript strip mall on Gallatin Avenue not far from Tailgate Brewery, Kroger and Publix. While the exterior is pretty unassuming and to be honest, "meh", the moment you walk in the door you pick up the vibe of quaint wine bar. From the ornate ceiling tiles, to the dark walls with artwork in oversized frames to the decorative lighting, this place certainly knows who they are. While everything above sounds grandiose, this spot is quite small...they just have a lot packed into this small space! This is the perfect spot for a small meet up, date night or even a pre/post dinner night cap...but anything beyond a group of 4 is going to be tough here. The bar seats around 10, then there are 3 hightops and 4 to 5 standard tables ranging in 2 to 4 tops. For the best enjoyment for you and everyone else, I would say this is not the spot for a large group or party. Now down to the goods! We had a few glasses of wine that were recommended to us by the owner, and we paired it with the charcuterie board. The wine was excellent, a great recommendation and great sip. The charcuterie board was standard, nothing exciting, but definitely nothing terrible. It paired well with our wine. Both came at a premium cost, which was not surprising, but slightly surprising. Two glasses of wine and a charcuterie board ran us around $60. Overall, The Authentique is a great find and a place that we will certainly swing back through when the vibe beckons! Outside of the cost above, my only other issue is that on the night we went, it was blazing hot inside. Not sure if that is a temperature regulation thing for the wine, but it was pretty unpleasant, which is why we only stayed for one glass.

I stopped here for some drinks with a friend and very much enjoyed the experience. The decor is beautiful and really transports you to another place/time, and the service from the bartender was great. He was very knowledgeable and attentive. I'd like to come back soon.

I like this little place. It's very hard to find even when you're looking for it. It doesn't have bright lights or a sign on the street level so if you're driving you will kiss it. It right across the street from Advanced Financial on Gallatin and next to Boost Mobile and a pizza place. As soon as you walk in, you'll feel you stepped somewhere in Europe. The light is mellow and they have candles that make it even more cozy. The music is very European too and a bit loud for the small space but at the same time it works ok so you don't hear everyone else's conversation. They offer small plates food and a variety of wines, beers and they have a small section of non-alcoholic beverages too to choose from. The staff was friendly and attentive. The place was clean and bathroom too. A nice little place to come and have a drink.

I came here with my boyfriend, and it was amazing. We live right down the street, and have been meaning to check it out for a while and it absolutely lived up to our expectations. Super knowledgeable and kind owner. Super delicious food and wine. It's also SUCH a beautiful space. ALSO if the homemade ice cream is on the menu you HAVE to get it. It's the owner's mom's recipe, and it is killer. I literally wanted to lick the bowl. Literally the only thing I would change is dimming the lights a little bit (but I'm obsessed with a dimmed bar) which is just personal preference! Love love love. Will be back. Merci!

This entrepreneur has a zest for his business and I would encourage everyone to come in for amazing ambiance and great wine (I am from Napa, so I am picky). A gem of a find for my first night in town wanting a fun place to drink!

Chef Anton will take your palate on a culinary journey you'll never forget. Meanwhile Alex will make excellent recommendations from their fine wine selection. What an amazing concept! Attention to detail in every aspect of this gem. Anton's beef tartare is possibly the best dish I have ever experienced. Quality sourced ingredients, excellent cut of beef sirloin, accompanied with a delicious mustard sauce. The vegetable crêpe was incredibly savory with the mushrooms having the perfect texture! The cozy interior design is very intentional with exquisite choices in lighting and decor. I would 100% recommend this establishment.

My wife and I have wanted to try this spot for quite some time and on a random night this last week we decided to stop for a drink. Upon on arrival we were able to park at the front entrance (free parking). I noticed last year that the ownership had changed and happened to be a very professionally young couple who purchased the spot. The gentleman who served our meal which was our waiter Alexander for our 30th wedding anniversary at another establishment. Alexander was was the new owner with his partner Philippine purchased then reopened this cool spot. Once we entered the establishment we were immediately welcomed in by both owners. The atmosphere was extremely welcoming and extremely comfortable making for a great hang out to collaborate with friends. I observed many locals from area enjoying a great place that lends itself to great times and many wonderful memories. Alex is wise beyond his years and Philippine was as wonderful and knowledgeable about the wines as well as food. The power couple have dedicated themselves to a successful venture and went above and beyond to explain each choice we made while enjoying the relaxed vibe. I ordered the hot brownie which Chef Anton prepared and it was excellent! We observed Chef Anton preparing various dishes with laser focus. Chef Anton displayed perfect execution and we could not help but notice the painstaking detail in executing his presentation/soul of his food. Please plan on getting to this gem that is crushing cool and service in East Nashville with emphasis on friendly French atmosphere.

I'm so glad I was finally able to visit The Authentique! It's tucked away in a nondescript strip mall on Gallatin Road. Once inside you are transported to France. I've never been to France, but it certainly gives off that vibe. They really paid attention to all of the details. The walls, ceiling, tables, lights, bar, etc. were carefully designed. They were playing a mix of music but I do remember Manu Chao was in the rotation. There were plenty of wine options and snacks. We tried a brut rose, two different reds, and a white. All were smooth and had great tasting notes. Price wise too, it was exactly where I wanted it to be. They also carried a bunch of bottles at different price pints. The snacks offered were charcuterie, fois gras, sturgeon caviar, a few desserts, and more. I can't comment on the food, we stopped in for drinks only. This place is perfect for a date night or to catch up with friends. I highly recommend!

A cute wine bar in East Nashville. Checked it out after seeing some of the Yelp reviews and have no regrets. They have plenty of wine options and a few snack options. We grabbed a bottle of wine and the bread and butter. The wine was delicious (but pricy) and vibe was super chill and cute. Perfect for a low key girls night! We will definitely be back.

If you want a unique, quaint, and cozy atmosphere, this French wine bar and crèperie is the perfect place. The owners are very knowledgeable about the wines they sell. You will learn everything about the wine you pick! They also offer flights (ours was Pinot Noir and Beaujolais! amazing choices!) We also loved their charcuterie and cheese board, foie gras, and Nutella crèpe. What a feast!! We went on Friday evening, and they had a jazz band, blending perfectly with the decor and the atmosphere. I strongly recommend this gem. We will be back!!

Owner is incredible and went above and beyond just to make my significant other and I's night special. Food and wine are incredible. Owner has done an incredible job reincarnating a French restaurant with high class taste.

I've only started coming to this place in February. Initially, I went there on a first date with a guy who was insistent we go there, it was on the other side of town so I was reluctant. I was like fine I guess. I'm really glad I did! I went on a Sunday evening around 7 pm. The bar was a nice level of crowded, meaning we could find a seat at the bar and have a conversation without shouting, but still enjoy the background music. We got the cheese board, but I did not take a picture since it was a first date. Turns out he's a regular there, and since we're still dating it's a popular spot for us. The bathrooms are unisex and clean. They have chalkboard walls in the bathroom so while you're doing your business you can think of what witty thing you want to write or what artwork you want to draw. The menu is small, but when drinking wine is the main focus, that's all you need. We're working our way through the desserts. I LOVED the chocolate mousse. It was delicious!! The macaroons come in 6 different flavors for you to try. They're open every day from 4:30 pm- 11pm. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable about the wines, which is good for when I want to ask for a recommendation! They do have a couple of parking spots in front of their building, which is free.

I love this addition for us in east nashville. It's such a quaint, cozy little place that invites you in to stay for a while. It definitely exudes it's French little wine bar vibe. The only thing missing from the cozy ambiance is a fireplace! Our service was great and the wines were good, with a decent list to choose from. We ordered a cheese plate and every single cheese was a star (ie there were no throwaways to make the plate fuller without quality). I can't wait to come back again.

C'est parfait!! this is truly an "authentic" French experience. the wine is superb, better than most Nashville selections. and the meat/cheese selection is high end. extremely flavorful. and the service is excellent. great date night!!!

Magnifique! We'd been meaning to try this place out for some time and tonight was it. My husband and I were warmly welcomed in, despite all tables being reserved for the evening. There was plenty of room at the bar, which we preferred anyway. Alex was so kind and knowledgeable and his wonderful wife Feli was delightful. The cheese and bread and honey and wine oh my-absolutely delicious recommendations from the owners. The ambience was perfect to relax away a weeks worth of rushing. Soft French music played from vintage speakers until an upright bass and guitar began playing a jazz version of the Beatles positioned perfectly in the corner of this cozy gem, so as to not intrude on the intimate conversations and experiences of each patron. This was a sweet experience and we will definitely be back. I do want to make clear there is zero association with the controversial owner of Once upon a time in France, Melvil Arnt. This wine bar is owned and operated by Alex and Feli (apologies if I've misspelled) . Go meet them, they are wonderful.

Let me start by saying how much I love the parent location "Once upon a time in France." This was a bit of a let down. The meat and cheese board looked and tasted like something you would serve at a bbq. Pre sliced meat and grocery store common cheese at restaurant prices? The $4 bread and butter was also underwhelming , butter packets!? Our server was fantastic and the only reason for the extra star or two. I hope they improve because as of now they don't really have much to entice a return visit.

Last night was a unique Nashville experience. I sat with friends and enjoyed some excellent French wines and conversation. Yes, we could hear one another speaking! Magnificent! C'était beau! This charming spot and the Paris-born owner we're very accommodating. It was an unusually relaxed night with friends that I would highly recommend. Oh, the French bread and truffle butter will help you channel your inner Francophile and you will be back. You will.

Owner was very nice and helped to recommend a good wine within our price range. Parking was easy as we went on week night. Cool ambiance, but a bit small on the inside.

My wife and I were convinced this was our kind of place from the moment we walked in. The decor, ambiance, music, and overall energy was perfect. We are both wine lovers and the owners put us right at ease immediately. Alex's knowledge of French wines has definitely rivaled many of the sommeliers we have dined with over the years. We are so excited to see what this new escape has in store for Nashville in the future!!!

This wine bar is simply unmatched in all of Tennessee! First of all the wine flight was delicious and substantial. the food...OH MY GOODNESS!!! The savory mushroom, greens crepe was the most delicious food I have ever eaten; not just the most delicious crepes, but the most delicious food. If heaven was food, you can order it at The Authentique! We got to meet the guy that owns The Authentique with his girlfriend. He was such a sweetheart! Very knowledgable, i think he said he grew up in France, is French, and i dont doubt because every piece of cheese and meat on our cheese & charcuterie board was blissfully and tastefully put together. The art deco decor was the perfect ambiance. It was not too noisy and my friend and I were gabbing all night and were able to hear one another. There were plenty of people in the wine bar but it didnt feel overcrowded. Everyone in there had smiles on their faces and were genuinely enjoying themselves. I will most definitely be back. Good spot for a fun date night with fancy wines!

Very nice cozy atmosphere , great wines, nice charcuterie and cheese, fantastic French and Italian wines!

Loved the wine and quaint atmosphere, would come again. The service was great. The selection of wines and food was amazing.

We were kindly greeted late on a Friday night and had to wait about 20 mins which wasn't a big deal. The space is small. The interior is lovely and cozy. We were greeted by our server who I think spoke French because her pronunciation of French wine was perfect. They have a good wine selection. Not to be dramatic, but I would die for that ham and Brie sandwich. It is everything. I am drooling just now thinking about it again. The charcuterie board was good but I wasn't blown away by it- the blue on the board was one of the best blue cheeses I've had, but the others weren't outstanding. Mostly young and soft cheeses. I will be back.

I am so happy this place re opened! The service was amazing, and I love how the name really indicates it's authenticity. Between the wine knowledge, the owners' experiences, delicious snacks on the menu and the fact that they are bilingual really makes it an immersive environment and great experience. You feel like you're walking into France for sure!

Nashville's hidden gem! The ambiance is wonderful as well as the service, both owners are really friendly and the food is amazing! They have an incredible home made "top secret" ice cream that is to die for! The wine list is great and Alex has always the perfect recommendation for you!

Great place for a glass or bottle of wine. The atmosphere is amazing and really transports you to France. The reason for 3 stars is because of the food. We got the cheese plate and it was served on a plastic plate along with bread. I would have preferred crackers with my cheese. The plastic plates made it feel cheap and cheapened the experience a bit. Otherwise, great place, great wines, great service!
