"A classic Southern smokehouse, the Bar-B-Q Shop is reputedly where the Memphis specialty known as barbecue spaghetti was invented. Riffing on traditional spaghetti with meat sauce, the dish features a mountain of pasta topped with pulled pork and tangy barbecue sauce. Don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it, though there are also more traditional smoked meats, from dry ribs and beef brisket to decadent beef bologna, for the less adventurous. If you fall in love with a particular flavor, know that the Bar-B-Q Shop sells its rubs and sauces at several grocery stores around the region."

Coronavirus Nearly Killed the Restaurant Industry. Can It Be Restored? | Bon Appétit

"An old-school Memphis barbecue spot whose owner knew half his customers by name and initially resisted online ordering, then scrambled to build a website over 30 days; adopting third-party delivery (despite high DoorDash/Grubhub fees) provided crucial revenue that helped the business stay afloat when in-person service vanished." - ByAshlea Halpern

Came in with a co-worker. We didn't know what to expect but were willing to try anything. I didn't realize that I knew of this joint front some YouTuber whom I watch and have been here. We're used to Texas BBQ. Memphis BBQ is similar but different. Their brisket was tender and delicious but I'm not a fan of tons of sauce on it. The BBQ spaghetti was odd, not my cup-o-tea, but it's a Memphis thing so I had to try some. I have a problem with them calling regular toast Texas toast. It's got to be a thick slice of bread! I got to meet Erick the owner/chef, who was more than friendly, but was super busy. I'll have to come back and try more stuff. Keep up the good work y'all!

Google
We came to Memphis with a goal of finding the best BBQ around, and I think we did just that. Our server Carl was THE BEST. We went around 5:30pm on a Saturday. They were very busy, but that didn’t mean lack of service in any way. They were quick to seat us, and Carl was the most fun and attentive server we’ve had in a long time. 5 stars all around.

Google
We are from MN and this was our first true Memphis BBQ. The ribs were the best EVER. Everything was amazingly delicious! While we don’t have a lot to compare the BBQ too, I can promise you in my nearly 50 years of life we have never had a more hospitable and delightful waiter than Corey. Go ask for him and try some of the best BBQ around!

Wade Howles

Google
Best sauce in town. Might be the best brisket. The ribs were fantastic, too. Slaw was very good, just a little on the sweet side for me. Incredibly nice people working here. Eric stopped me to ask how everything was and we chatted about music for a few minutes as well. I can't wait to come back.

The Service was amazing from the door until I departed. The ribs were fall off the bone good. You are about to get your meat with or without sauce or with rub. It’s a must try when Memphis.

There are an overwhelming amount of bbq places in Memphis and I’m so glad this is the one we chose. It was not very busy at all on a Tuesday night. There is lots of parking in the back with entrances there or from the front. We were promptly greeted and sat. It had a very lowkey laid back vibe. Tyler was our server and made a great beer recommendation from a local brewery, and was very knowledgeable about the menu. We went with all his recommendations and it was so good! I had half a slab of ribs that came with beans and slaw. Beans were delicious, smoky and hint of sweet. Slaw had a perfect balance of sugar and vinegar and the ribs had a slightly sweet glaze covered in a sweet and smoky dry rub. It was so good. The only downside, some of the bark got too chewy and was almost jerky I could bite through, but it was all still amazing. My husband also had sample of pulled pork and brisket, also great. The bbq spaghetti… try it! It looks weird and I almost didn’t, but Tyler convinced us and it was great. The noodles marinate in meat drippings before the meant and sauce drizzle and I will be trying to replicate this at home lol. With beers, son’s soda and sandwich, 2 big plates and 2 desserts, it was only $104. Awesome introduction to Memphis BBQ.

Google
LONGTIME COMING. This place is a Memphis tradition and has enjoyed success for decades for its food and great service. I had the 1/2 chicken plate with beans and slaw along with a side of the world famous bbq spaghetti. Everything was delicious. My dad had the dry ribs with sides and said it tasted great. We will be back!

Google
I am a Memphian, grew up with Memphis BBQ, compete on a successful competitive BBQ team, and I was very surprised with The Bar-B-Q Shop. There are many well-known BBQ restaurants that Memphians avoid; this is not one of them. We were hit immediately with a great atmosphere & friendly staff that were very well educated on their smoking and cooking processes & ingredients. The ribs are St. Louis cuts, full of smoke and flavor. The brisket was good for a BBQ restaurant & is much better than at other local restaurants (I’d recommend asking for the sauce on the side). The BBQ spaghetti is a must, be sure to ask their preparation method. And the sides….!! Coleslaw had a hit of pickle relish, and the beans had a little something extra that set them over the top.

Yelp
Solid BBQ that is cooked from the soul! Truly a MUST when ( or somewhere not even near) Memphis! The glazed ribs were unbelievably tender! No fork needed! The best our family have EVER EATEN!!! The BBQ nachos were 100% WOW! The BBQ spaghetti you MUST not forget to order!!! Holy moly AMAZING!! Eric Vernon is a humble man that doesn't mess around with delicious food!! P.S. try adding the dynamite beans to your Texas toast. ;)

Yelp
Great food experience. Slab of ribs were so juicy and flavorful, the beans and Cole slaw on the side also delicious. The bar-b-q spaghetti is something I never thought of or have seen and it was amazing, especially putting it on the Texas toast. Side note, bathrooms were very very clean!

Yelp
I don't know who on Food Network decided these ribs were the best in America, but they need to get out more. It took almost an hour for TWO meals to be served AND they got the order wrong. How?? That just doesn't check out, You're not making anything to order, things are already bbq'd and made beforehand. A long wait wouldn't even have bothered us if the food was good. The ribs were mediocre at best, I've had better at Rudys. The 'glaze' was judt bbq sauce. The fries were stuck together. The best part was the beans and Texas toast. TEXAS TOAST! We waited an hour for Texas toast to be the best part. Also, the food was served lukewarm. The bbq pasta was close to cold and so greasy. Our server also had to be told what to do all the time, bringing us 3 sets of cutlery when there are 4 of us? Multiple times to bring drinks. why?

Yelp
This was our second time visiting Memphis and second time to The Bar-B-Q Shop. We knew we HAD to come back for that crazy BBQ spaghetti. My husband and I shared the Bar-B-Q Shop Special which came with ribs (dry or wet, your choice), pork shoulder, beef brisket, spaghetti, beans, slaw and Texas toast for $32.99. Really a great deal to feed two people with generous portions of every thing. The ribs fell off the bone and I'll never understand why the bbq spaghetti works, it just does. SO good! The general feeling of the space is that of any good old hole in the wall bbq joint - sparse decor, dated furniture and tight corners - but I wasn't there for the ambiance. The service was fine - our server was nice and attentive but he also told us more than once that our food was "coming out in a couple of minutes," and it did take quite some time to receive our meals. I can't be too upset though, it appeared as though they had a lot of to-go orders and the kitchen was probably backed up a bit. We'll be back - can't stay away from those ribs and spaghetti!

Yelp
Stopped in from a recommendation and very happy I did! You will not leave hungry. Portions are huge and so is the flavor. This isn't your typical bbq. Small business with a huge heart for delicious food you won't forget. The sauce is divine. Will definitely return !

Yelp
I wasn't a fan of the sauce or flavor of their bbq but the food was good. My smoked turkey was tender and moist. The service was great and pleasant despite them being very busy.
google avatar

Yelp
Shredded brisket and pork. Very tender sweet Cole slaw. Beans average. Ribs tender on the inside crispy on the outside. Texas toast was tasty to soak up the goodness. The food was very slow to come out. Good things come to those who wait. 4 stars.

Yelp
The Bar-B-Q Shop, home of the "dancing pig," is renowned for some of the best barbecue in Memphis, TN, and was voted #1 ribs in America by the Food Network. Since opening in 1987, this eatery has been known for real-pit barbecue, old-fashioned scratch-made sauces, and cole slaw. Their award-winning gourmet sauces, around for over fifty years, set them apart from other barbecue joints. Unique menu items include BBQ Spaghetti, a divisive but iconic Memphis staple that I fell in love with at first bite. Their glazed ribs, covered in a thicker version of the Dancing Pigs barbecue sauce, are incredibly juicy and flavorful. The half-rack of ribs, with a glossy sheen, is meaty, tender, and deliciously infused with the sauce.

Yelp
Fantastic food, fantastic service, and excellent atmosphere. Get the BBQ spaghetti! Loved the ribs and brisket the most but the pork was very good as well. Nothing bad came to the table!
google avatar

Janus C.

Yelp
Good local joint! We got the ribs, the pulled pork, the bbq spaghetti (it's exactly what you think it is - I didn't love it). The ribs were our fave - with both the dry rub and glazed.

Yelp
Amazing que friendly staff and clean all the way around. Layed back casual atmosphere. Bar and Great barbecue. A must try when in the area. Even the owner is cool and outgoing. High recommend.

Yelp
I was really looking forward to trying some Memphis-style BBQ spaghetti, after watching one of my favorite travel YouTubers recommendations. I drive all the way across town to come here, only to find out it is CLOSED. Closed for ten days. I didn't even get the reason but they posted signs on their doors. Maybe the owners and/or workers needed a vacation. This was not advertised on their website or their social media pages, so people would have to find out the hard way that they couldn't get their BBQ fix here. Shame on the people who run this place! The economy is crap right now and this is how they want to treat their potential customers? I know the owners will never see this, so I'll just talk all the crap I want. Or I'll just let it go and give my hard-earned dollars to someone else that would appreciate them.

Yelp
The food was fabulous and our server was the sweetest person ever. Thank you for a wonderful meal! We tried the ribs, 1/2 and 1/2 glazed and dry and the glazed was unanimously our favorite! We also ordered the sliced brisket and it was some of the best brisket I've ever tried. The ribs were to die for.

Yelp
This is the best bbq I've had had in Memphis. It's not far from Beale Street. The food was good. I had a pulled pork sandwich and my husband got the bbq spaghetti. The pork was a bit dry when it came out however there is a spicy bbq sauce which pairs perfectly with it. The bbq spaghetti was different. The parking is the only downfall.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went for dinner around 630pm on a Friday night and got a spot right away. They were relatively busy, but they still had some tables open. Our waiter was very friendly and gave suggestions right away, but we pretty much knew what we wanted to try when we sat down. We ordered the Slab of Ribs (for 2) and a side of the BBQ spaghetti. The waiter then heavily pushed for us to order bread to eat with our spaghetti, even with us saying no a couple of times, until he broke us down to order it. The ribs were great! We did half dry and half glazed. I don't know if it's the ribs we got but the dry rub half seemed more flavorful and juicy than the wet. The BBQ spaghetti was good, but nothing mind-blowing. We tried putting the spaghetti on the bread, as our waiter insisted and it was good as well, but again, not mind-blowing to where it NEED to order the bread every time I got the spaghetti. Overall we got our meal pretty quickly and were in and out in a normal amount of time. Theres a lot of street parking close by, and i think we saw a sign saying they had parking in the back as we walked up to the restaurant.

Yelp
The BBQ spaghetti was out of this world! I got the half half plate with chopped pork and BBQ spaghetti. My friend got the bbq nachos. We came in around noon on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy, though people were slowly starting to trickle in. While it did take some time to get our food and drinks, the wait was well worth it. The food was delicious. You can taste the slow cooked spices and the sauce was to die for. Very large portions too. The bbq spaghetti was a perfect mix of bbq pork with spaghetti to catch any leftover sauce, or just eat as a pasta. Seriously, it's a genius dish. Overall, both my friend and I loved this place and will definitely come back when we're in Memphis again.

Suzanne T.

Yelp
Incredible Memphis BBQ! I'm rom Memphis but haven't lived there for 40 years. My cousin took me to the BBQ Shoppe. I ordered more rub and sauce when I got back to AZ.

Michelle F.

Yelp
BBQ is average at best. Service is non existent. You better be on your game with your BBQ if you are in Memphis. This place sadly is not.

Yelp
Food: the beef was tender, not too fatty and the sauce was mild, but well put together. The beans were basic bbq beans, no meat just beans. The slaw was basic too. Service: was friendly and pleasant Ambiance: was casual, local neighborhood vibes with a bar, and spacious seating. It's cool place to dine with friends, family, coworkers or date night. Why not 5 stars: the to-go sides were on the skimpy side (smaller than a jar of baby food, it was about 2-3 spoonfuls- just ashame) and basic for the price of the plate. Their menu prices are a bit pricey for what you don't get.

Yelp
My husband and I wanted to try some BBQ spaghetti while in Memphis and decided on The Bar-B-Q Shop after doing some searching online. It's a place we probably wouldn't have stopped at otherwise because the outside is very unassuming but it was a great meal! We visited in the early afternoon on a Friday and they weren't busy at all. After sitting down and smelling the BBQ, we decided to order a few extra things in addition to the spaghetti and are glad we did. Bar-B-Q Spaghetti, Slaw, and Texas Toast (8/10) - We were pleasantly surprised with the portion size and the amount of meat! Overall, it was very tasty but didn't steal the show by any means. There was tons of sauce (maybe a little too much) and sauce is definitely on the sweeter side. The slaw was DELICIOUS... very crunchy and had a great tang to it. The Texas toast was okay but nothing special (although we're from Texas so we probably have high expectations). 1/2 Rack of Ribs (9/10) - These were fantastic! We got them all dry and loved the taste of the rib rub... there's a hint of sweetness to it which was unique. The ribs were moist and you could see a visible smoke ring. This was our first time having ribs in Memphis and after trying ribs at Central BBQ later that night, we can say that these were WAY better! Bar-B-Q Beef Bologna Sandwich (7/10) - I got it on Texas toast with the slaw on top and it was good but not fantastic. I wanted to try the bologna while in Memphis and I'm happy I did but it just wasn't anything special. The slice of bologna was super thick but honestly just tasted like a hot dog (I like hot dogs so that isn't a bad thing but it wasn't super unique or different). Our server was very attentive and the food came out quickly which was appreciated! Compared to some other places we looked at, we felt like the prices were fair. I will say that we have pretty high standards for BBQ coming from Texas and are probably a little biased toward Texas style BBQ as a result. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to The Bar-B-Q Shop and enjoyed the meal but it wasn't our favorite BBQ ever.

Yelp
Whether it's the hospitality or the flavors -- everything has a down home southern feel. The pulled pork sandwich was hearty, tender and juicy. The brisket had flavor. The ribs were good. We were recommended the glazed, it was a good choice. The spaghetti was really good, a unique taste. I even enjoyed a local brew while I waited for my carry out. The dining room has character. The bar is a montage of Memphis memories in the form of memories. Very cool.

Yelp
Excellent barbecue here! They nailed it. Our interaction with the hostess was unpleasant and we were concerned but we took a chance. I honestly think she was tired and overwhelmed because they were down several staff. But our server was nice, had a good sense of humor, and did his best tending to our needs. We also met the owner who explained that he had people out with sick kids and then the parents got sick too. So we did have to wait an hour for our food but we didn't have anywhere to go anyway. Life happens and there's nothing you can do when you have people out sick. We actually felt really bad for the staff because you could tell they were tired by how they walked. I respected them even more for their resilience. We left a nice tip to show our appreciation. We were very happy to support a black owned restaurant as well.

Yelp
Our first meal in Memphis at the start of a long weekend... very disappointing, especially compared to all the other places we ate at while in town. I would not recommend this place. The actual restaurant is pretty run down, which normally doesn't bother me much but it was bordering on dirty. It seems like the floors and surfaces need a deep clean. We ordered a player with pulled pork, brisket and a half rack of ribs. The pulled pork and brisket were exactly the same, indiscernible. The ribs were dry. Totally chewy like jerky. My advice: if you're looking for good BBQ, try somewhere else. If you're looking for a fun time, try somewhere else.

Yelp
Quick weekend in Memphis with my teenage son. We thought we needed some BBQ and chose The Bar-B-Q Shop. It didn't disappoint. Walking in the vibe is wood and warmth. Large bar to the left with mirrors and high ceilings! The sandwich was piled with pulled pork and smokey good! But, man the seasoned wings (dry rub) were the highlight. Sorry no picture, we scarfed them down before we had a chance. Crispy and not over seasoned. I ordered unsweet tea but got a taste of the sweet by accident. It was full on sweet! Onion rungs sounded crunchy from the table next to us! Courteous service.Tahlia was our server and she was amazing!

Yelp
We love the BBQ shop. It is a locally owned restaurant and the owner is friendly to all his customers. You can definitely tell who the regulars are as he will sit and chat with them while they eat dinner and give them hugs on the way out. While we live in the Memphis area, we have to travel a good ways from home to hit this local joint, but it never disappoints. We love the bbq sandwich on Texas toast. Their bbq sauce is not typical of what you would find in the Memphis area, but we absolutely love its uniqueness. It is more of a mustard/vinegar base, but we slather it on everything...sandwiches, fries and onion rungs...it's good on everything! The onion rings and fries are also both very tasty on their own or with ketchup. Although this place kind of looks like a dive from the street, it is a rather large no frills establishment and the food is well worth stopping in! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Enjoyed the food and service. The ribs half dry half medium glazed were fantastic. Fell off the bone. Service was good, he was thorough and gave suggestions. I liked that. The spaghetti was decent, not a must have but interesting and glad I did! But the ribs are the must have when here

Yelp
Came here passing through on a roadtrip. I heard Memphis was known for their bbq and when I asked some folks on reddit they all said that this spot was consistently the best. We got here early before doors opened and there were a few others who did the same. Walking in, the place is larger than what it looks on the outside. The guy in front wasn't incredibly hospitable but my expectations on that were already low based on the reviews I've read. I figured that the food would make up for it. We placed an order for the half wet/dry ribs to-go. The wait took a while but everything came out hot in a styrofoam box. Coleslaw, beans and toast were included. Now, I'm not used to southern bbq so my palate is probably very different from others but I found the coleslaw and beans to be sooooo sweet. We probably had a spoonful of each and tossed the rest. Finally, we were ready for the ribs. The ribs were super tender! Fall off the bone. However, some of meat was a bit dry and had to be chewed for some time. The flavors were nice but I guess my expectations were higher based on all the praise I read about. Overall, good but not the best. An hour after eating the bbq we were in a completely different state at this point of our roadtrip when suddenly both my partner and I had the absolute worst stomach pains. Not trying to give too much away but at one point we were frantic for a restroom that even another 5 min on the road was absolute torture. If your stomach can handle this kind of food then I think you might love it but this fragile Californian stomach could not :(

Yelp
The food was meh! (That's the nicest rating I'll give it bc my server gave me the wrong order and didn't apologize to me, but only apologized to the other inconvenienced person at the table. So...needless to say, the service was horrid! (Corey W is the worst! Boy George wanna be!) And to make matters worse, he brought our party (of 9) our receipts, then came back and added the "mandatory" gratuity. (That's why your tip wasn't more because you customer service skills suk, Corey!) Like Martin Payne said after Gina busted the Bus attendant's nose, "YOU BROUGHT IT ON YO' SELLLLLLLFFF!" The ambiance was but was quickly overshadowed by the horrible f---ing service! I will NEVER return or recommend anyone visit this restaurant. Even if it's the only one open and you REALLY have to go....just pee at the front door!

Yelp
Kansas City has better barbecue. I thought this place was overhyped. Ribs were not soft enough and kind of dry. I was not impressed.

Yelp
Great To-Go experience for two texans that made it in town just in time for dinner. Great food, great service. Brisket plate and glazed rib plate were very yummy. We also tried the bbq spaghetti and took a pro tip to eat the spaghetti on top of the Texas toast and it was good too! We were warned that it would be different than our bbq back home, and they were right, but in the best way. This brisket was a little less smoky, and a little sweeter. The bbq sauce though was honestly one of my favorite bbq sauces I've tried. I wish I had a bottle of it to take home. And the glaze on the ribs were worth every bite, and I usually don't bother with ribs. Definitely worth the visit! Until next time...

Yelp
Rough! Let me preface this by saying I am from Tennessee and have eaten and been around BBQ my entire life Dried up stringy pork so bad a dog would choke on it. I mean you could've mopped the floor with it and it'd still been dry. We came for the ribs. Let me explain this to you; they took the ribs out of the packaging and put them on the smoker. No salt. No nothing. I got a day old rack of ribs. Brisket; a couple days old. No fat left on it to be juicy. Took about an hour in and out the door. We ate 3 ribs and left. I don't know who/where/what thinks this is good BBQ but I'd find somewhere else where they know better and care.

Yelp
2nd generation family-owned and operated business. Features classic Memphis BBQ in a relaxed atmosphere. Service can be slow but it's worth the wait.

Yelp
Pulled pork BBQ on texas toast was fantastic! Super moist & juicy, highly recommend the spicy BBQ sauce to go with it.

Yelp
Pretty solid. Make sure you call ahead to make sure they are open. Their hours are not posted on their website and yelp/Google are not updated. It took about a half hour to get my food and this was on a Wednesday around noon when they were not busy. No outdoor seating. Parking lot in the back. I got the bar b q shop special for $31. The sauce got old quick. They only have 1 kind. Overall, pretty good but not the best I've had Ribs: good. I got half and half (rub vs sauce). Meat came off the bone easily. Good flavor Pork shoulder: ok. A bit dry Brisket: ok. Shredded. A bit dry Spaghetti: surprisingly good. Had some pieces of meat on top Beans: good. Slightly sweet Coleslaw: good. Light. Sort of minced texture

Yelp
Flat out good Memphis BBBq. We got the combo bologna sausage cheese plate. And a sampler plate as well. Everything was really good. Dry ribs better than the glazed ribs in my opinion. Maybe the best potato salad in the city. Fantastic service. Cold beer. All in all, just a great experience.

Yelp
Said home of the famous bbq spaghetti. I was not a fan. Too much grease. It filled the bottom of the bowl. Coke slaw and beans were good, but nothing special. Get a rack of ribs, forget the sides and have a carnivorous meal. The ribs were good!!!

Joe B.

Yelp
The Bar-B-Q Shop is on Madison Avenue in Downtown Memphis. I remember seeing a program on Food Network pertaining to the best food ever (I can't remember the name of the show to save my life). This episode dealt with the best barbecue in the land. The ribs at the Bar-B-Q Shop were rated #1. I've been there three times since then and they do not disappoint. The best ribs, whether they're wet, dry, or half and half, they're phenomenal!!! And they have the best spaghetti I've ever had!!! Don't ask for the recipe, though, because it's a secret. Stellar service, amazing atmosphere that pays tribute to Memphis blues, and, of course, the best BBQ in Memphis or anywhere else (then again, I'm biased being that Memphis is like a second home, along with Long Beach, Mississippi). 5 out of 5 stars!!!

Yelp
We came to Memphis for 2 things, Graceland, and barbecue. Both did not disappoint. The Bar-B-Q Shop is known for the spaghetti and ribs. Being a vegetarian, I searched far and wide for a restaurant that offered more vegetarian options than just coleslaw. I found it here. I enjoyed the veggie burger which was sort of a Garden Burger taste with bbq sauce, pickle, tomato, and onion on their signature Texas toast. I also ordered a potato salad on the side with a sweet tea. The burger was ok. I don't believe that they actually make the patty themselves, so they don't have much control over the taste. But the toast and bbq sauce were very good. The sauce has a sort of sweet and smoky flavor. The potato salad was great and not overly mayo-y or mustardy. The sweet tea was just as described, sweet. The menu offers a veggie burger, a black bean burger, mozzarella sticks, and a few sides for vegetarians. We interacted with 3 staff members and they were all very attentive and kind. They all wore masks and took care to really clean the tables between guests. The vibe overall is what you'd expect from a Midwest bbq place. Some of the tables could use a good sanding and refinishing and the bathrooms need a deep cleaning and fixing a few things. There is street parking as well as parking behind the building. In all I was very pleased with my experience and would recommend them to anyone.

Yelp
We ordered to go as we weren't sure how much room there was for a larger party. Everything was good. We had the ribs, pulled pork, BBQ spaghetti (strange and a no for our group), slaw (delicious!), beans and a turkey salad (needed more onion and tomato as it only came with 2 slices of each). The BBQ sauce was a hit. When we picked up our food, the service was food and friendly. They even helped us carry it to our car. Though we didn't dine in, we waited a little while for our food, and the restaurant appeared clean though a little cluttered. We tried it due to all of the reviews it had gotten and would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Food was good but it took 45 minutes to get our food and we were the first people there when it opened. Service is not great and ambiance is pitiful. Not horrible food but there are much better places in Memphis if you're looking for good bbq.

Yelp
Best BBQ in town! Excellent service, taste and big menu. Ribs were especially tender and delicious. Ask for 1/2 dry and 1/2 wet ribs.

Yelp
We found this spot on a Reddit thread while passing through and decided to stop for dinner. Food was delicious. So delicious that we purchased their sauce after dinner. We ordered the half chicken meal and pulled pork sandwich. So so good and would tell anyone to try them out. Service was great, JT was attentive, kind, and helpful with his service. Will be talking about that meal for a while!

Yelp
After living in Memphis for 9 years and now being away for 7 years. I really miss and crave Memphis barbecue. This was my pick for dinner on my first night back in town. The Bar-B-Q Shop is a bit off the beaten path, about 7 miles from downtown it's close but it's more of a place where locals come for good barbecue and tourist are not as common as some of the downtown restaurants. My favorite is the pulled pork on Texas toast. The pork is amazing and their sauce is my favorite in Memphis. They offer a variety of sides, but you can't go wrong with the seasoned fries! We ordered takeout. COVID precautions are solid. They strictly enforce masking and prioritize keeping staff and patrons safe. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I went to this longtime Memphis staple for the first time and I must say I was very impressed with the food and service. The owner was very patience with assisting me ordering food to go despite being very busy. I ordered the 1/2 beef brisket combo that comes with barbecue spaghetti, coleslaw, and toast and it was delicious! It was so good that I lick the bottom of the container lol. I would definitely return to this establishment and recommend anyone looking for a true Memphis bbq joint to try it out.

Yelp
Delicious BBQ pork in both the meat and sauce tastes. Our group ordered the BBQ Spaghetti. While a unique concept that you have to try, it's a bit unusual for the mind to process eating spaghetti noodles and BBQ in the same bite. The sweet tea is admittedly very sweet.

Yelp
Hands down the best bbq spaghetti in the city! I came just to try it, waited about 10mins and it was worth the wait. I thought it was kind of expensive priced around $9 for a side. But it was well worth every penny!! The meat inside is juicy and tender, the bbq sauce has a great flavor.

Yelp
I've travelled from Manchester in the UK for some Memphis style bbq and after a lot of research I dwindled it down to one. And it did not disappoint. I have the slab of ribs with a side of seasoned fries Wow wee the ribs just pulled off the bone with such ease Also on our table we had pork and beef. They was also smoked to perfection. This place is about 5/10 mins outside of town but we'll worth the trip. You could also try the tourist traps of Beale st where there a lot more expensive and smaller portions from the reviews I've read and picture I've seen
