"The Barge House, is an all-day café on the Regent’s Canal near Haggerston serving eggs, sandwiches, and an enormous weekend brunch in hollowed out loaves of bread. The setting here is comfortable and lovely and although The Towpath Café next door may be the nicest house on the road in terms of food, this is an excellent back-up option, plus it has plenty of indoor seating for the other 364 days of the year when the weather doesn’t make sitting outside ideal." - Jake Missing

Had to try to this place after seeing all the postings lately. Got there early but there was already an impressive queue forming so everyone else must have had the same idea. Lovely place by the canal, perfect for a sunny day like today. I couldn't wait to try their Breakfast in Bread, which is a round loaf with the middle scooped out and filled with deliciousness. We tried The Original, Vegetarian and Hot Stuff. The crust was hard but still yummy. There seems to be a technique to eating these and we were clearly doing it wrong, but didn't care and still managed to scoff it all. The freshly squeezed Purple One juice was thirst quenching and refreshing after the long hot wait for the table. Wheelchair access: This place is bigger than it looks from the outside, with accessible ground floor dining area and an upstairs and downstairs (non-accessible). They even had accessible toilets! But... the only downside to this place is that they were down a flight of stairs and no lift to get down (marked down one star for this). Not sure if staff had manual handling training, but with a little help, managed to get me down to use the facilities. Also forgot to ask what they did with the middle of the bread they scooped out. If anyone finds out, let me know!!

I thought this was going to be bad - I mean, who stuffs bread rolls full of anything and everything? The Hot Stuff actually really good, and my wife's salmon one (I don't know the name) seemed OK too. The place was very busy on a Sunday afternoon, and we queued for maybe 15min - but the staff were very friendly and efficient, and not pretentious hipsters, so it was OK. Only two things which I didn't personally like: small non-alcoholic drinks menu, and the seating - we were so close to the couple next to us that we couldn't think.

I went to this place by the canal a few weeks ago and I was surprised about the main breakfast food that they serve. I have never seen this kind of bread bowl and you can choose different ones: the bowl with full english breakfast + a lot of veggies or even one with Salmon. Food was is delicious and I will repeat again. Just with this breakfast you can skip lunch for the whole day. I recommend going early (10:00) as there can be long queues. Besides, it can feel a bit crowded sometimes. Overall a place to repeat when the weather is nice.

Great location. Though the canal can get busy. The staff are nice and the food is unique. However I do believe better ingredients should be used for the price. The Bloody Mary is very good, but it is £9. There’s a little too much bread. Nether the less if you are a tourist about the area give it a go.

This has been on my to visit list for a while. Finally made it there today and it was well worth it. The food tasted as incredible as it looks, all cooked perfectly. The setting right next to the canal was fantastic. Indoor and outdoor seating if the weather allows it! Staff were very friendly and I heard them talking through the menu items to others. Even one of the local geese tried to sneak in! Must be good. Overall this place is a real treat to find and I would highly recommend a visit.

Came here for my birthday & have to say - it was fantastic. The location is ideal, right next to the canal, the venue has a real buzz to it, lots of people in. Good menu and extensive drinks list. The breakfast in bread was very tasty indeed as well as very filling. The staff were very accommodating of a large group and extremely attentive. Would like to thank both Debbie & Harriet for helping to facilitate the event. I had a group of 19 and not one person had a bad thing to say about this place, will be recommending it to others. One of the best brunches I've had in London (and I've had many!)

Eggs can’t get more interesting... and great coffee We went for a brunch on a Saturday we booked online and sat on at the mezzanine. If you like eggs and sourdough then you surely will not be disappointed. We tried for they Smokey and vegetarian options which were both good. The prices are not cheap but you can’t to compare to and eggs and cress sandwich in the local grocery store. The place and ambiance were good, staff was friendly including the chef Fred. Surely will go back again.

Really nice place situated by the canal. Came here for the breakfast in bread. Would recommend to book for 10am as otherwise they don’t take bookings and get very busy. Service was friendly and efficient. We had the Hot Stuff (Chorizo), Smoked Salmon and 2 coffees. Both were tasty. 4 stars as it was a little pricy relative to the portion.
