Where to Eat in London | All the Best Restaurants for the Weekend | Eater London

"Run by Yolanda Antonopolou, the peaceful whole-food café at Hackney Wick’s old Art Deco baths serves a short, almost vegan lunch built around organic bean and lentil stews remembered from her grandmother’s kitchen — choose a pulse such as XXL ygantes or green lentils with sprouted quinoa and add a topping like barrel-aged feta or pickles; there are also Cretan dakos, crisp spanakopites and light tahini or graviera toasties, and the adjacent photography studio means celebrity sightings aren’t uncommon." - Eater Staff

The Best Restaurants to Try This Weekend in London | Eater London

"Founded and run by Yolanda Antonopolou of Gaia Pulses, this peaceful whole-food café in Hackney Wick occupies an old Art Deco public baths and channels her grandmother’s recipes: think long-prepared fasolada and strict rules like using Aegean sea salt and adding extra-virgin olive oil at the end. The short, almost-vegan lunch menu is built around organic bean and lentil stews — try XXL ygantes with red peppers or green lentils and sprouted quinoa with garlic, dill and oregano — which can be finished with toppings such as barrel-aged feta, black olives or pickled vegetables. Other highlights include Cretan dakos, crisp spanakopites and light brunch options like tahini on toast or graviera cheese toasties, served in a homely space complete with crocheted tablecloths and an adjacent photography studio where celebrity sightings are not uncommon." - Shekha Vyas

A little oasis of peace, calm, natural light and wholesome food, with amazing real herbal teas. It's a healing and relaxing place. Staff super nice and gentle. Lovely atmosphere.

Such a sweet little spot and when it's sunny you can sit outside too. Delicious range of vegan options, they offer new varieties of the menu each day, for example I opted for the hummous of day which turned out to be a delicious herby number. Turmeric latte with plenty of cinnamon, they were very polite and offered to make another one as they went overboard on cinnamon but luckily I'm a huge fan and the extra cinnamon only made me happier. I did notice that they do homemade kombucha so I will be back to try that! They are very conscious on waste, not offering plastic bottles etc. They also have a small shop with refillable beans and pulses. In the same building there were classes such as yoga happening. A great communal space.

Today was my first visit to this place. It was recommended by a friend as a little oasis of calm. He was right. The atmosphere is ramshackle but the service was super friendly and very fast. I had the fakehs stew with sourdough toast, a pumpkin seed brownie and a cup of lemon herbal tea. The stew was absolutely delicious, bursting with flavours and very filling. The brownie was unusual but tasty, and the tea came with an egg timer to ensure the optimum infusion time. I was really impressed with the service too. All the servers greeted me with warm smiles and they seemed passionate about the place. This was a nice, relaxing, filling lunch. I'll certainly be returning.

This place is cool, quirky and calm. Vegan friendly and you arent rushed through your time there. Service is good and friendly. Its deffinatly more for the hipster, middle class crowd you can see that in pricing etc. But if you want healthy eats and a place to catch up then its ideal.

The coffee is good, the snacks Greek and wholesome, the chocolate browny is scrumptious. Plus the venue has a fantastic range of conscious and alternative events. That mean Interesting and super friendly folk. Especially recommended at the weekend!

Funny experience at this place. I had to pickup a food order from here, but as I arrived during a private party the guy at the door just kicked me out without even listening to what I was saying. I was helpless and had to cancel the order online. Maybe normally it's a good place, but if you see something like a private event there and you don't have a wristband, be aware you're very well NOT welcome and may be treated poorly. Stay away!
