The Bean Café is a cornerstone of the Las Cruces coffee and café scene, celebrated for its relaxed atmosphere and thoughtful vegan options. With locally roasted beans and a menu that highlights both classic and inventive plant-based fare (think breakfast burritos with vegan sausage and house-made pastries), it’s a go-to for those seeking a laid-back brunch or lunch. The café’s strong ties to the local arts community are evident in its rotating gallery exhibits and collaborative events. Multiple sources, including Condé Nast Traveler and NM Magazine, highlight The Bean as a must-visit for vegans and vegetarians, with particular praise for its community-driven ethos and reliably delicious menu.

Google
This cafe is the CUTEST! we were passing through on a road trip from ATX to CA and finding this place was like finding gold. This will forever be one of our permanent stops when passing through Las Cruces. The coffee was great, the vibe was amazing and it’s just what we needed ♥️

Google
Darling little coffee shop in central Las Cruces, NM. Excellent tasting coffee and tea and a nice selection of breakfast foods to get the day started. Friendly staff, chill vibes, nice place. Highly recommended.

Google
Really like drinking coffee here on Sunday morning. Lots of Bikers and Bicyclests. Quite the cross section of people. Foo foo coffee for you coffee snobs, good ole house coffee for me.

Google
Spent ten weeks on the road throughout the southwest and this is probably my favorite coffee shop from the whole trip. Their toast is delicious, the yogurt and granola is a bounty, and the oatchata latte is fantastic. Can't recommend this place enough.

Google
Beautiful little coffee shop, great energy. The blueberry muffin was so good and filled with whole blueberries. I'd recommend the honey lavender coffee!! Inside the café was nice and cozy. They had a nice patio area where there was shade early AM. They have good parking and bike racks. Must go!

Google
I visited last year while on vacation in New Mexico. This was a quant coffee shop. I loved the atmosphere - with all the stained glass it was bright and airy in here. I had an iced latte that was very good.

Google
Very accessible to bikes- large bike community. It was very crowded, which slowed down the morning. But they were aware it took longer and offered accommodation which was very kind. No indoor ac, plenty outdoor seating. Strong wifi.

Google
I stopped because it looked like just my kind of place… and it was! I got the specialty latte made with oat milk and a gluten-free scone. The scone was giant and tasty and the latte was super delicious, creamy, and very satisfying for a beautiful fall day. i’ll definitely make this part of my regular routine while visiting my folks in Mesilla every time now :-)

Yelp
Very nice artsy interior and relaxing exterior. Latte flavors were fun and the avocado toast was a nice late breakfast item. Didn't have to wait very long, overall a nice cafe.

Yelp
I stopped here while passing through town on a road trip. The ambiance is cute and unique and you feel welcome to sit and relax. The service was great. I ordered an iced latte and gluten free scone and both the pastry and drink were superb. The latte was refreshing and you can tell they use good quality coffee. Overall, I had a great experience in a welcoming environment.

Yelp
Quaint, quiet coffee shop on the edge of town. Stop in before your walk through town.
google avatar

Eshani K.

Yelp
Excellent coffee but the food needs work. I got the autumn latte and it was so creamy and perfectly addictive. Great for cold weather. The breakfast burrito and the green chili scone are pretty good but nothing crazy. The salsa the burrito comes with is the worst salsa I've had in my life. I have no idea what that was. The scone needs more cheddar flavor and more green chili spice. The burrito was hefty but nothing crazy.

Yelp
NEAT place and laid out very nicely! Service was quick and I got my coffee the exact way I like. Got a decaf EXPRESSO, with Creme Brûlée latte flavor. SO good and reasonably priced. Back on the road with a delicious coffee to make the drive nicer!

Yelp
Absolutely come here for green chili scones and vegan muffins. The day old ones are great. Sweet little place here, very cute inside and outside. Love the pretty stained glass window. Didn't get to try the coffee this time, will have to go back!

Yelp
Traveling through New Mexico and stopped here for coffee and breakfast. Oh My Gosh!! My wife and I were in heaven. Such a rad atmosphere. Food was fresh and delicious! Coffee was great too!! Thank you, The Bean of Mesilla for an amazing start to our day.

Yelp
Great service, food is very tasty and fresh. Patio area that permits bring dogs. Prices are reasonable.

Yelp
Not a great experience overall this visit ~ $7.00 for a small house coffee, and a scone (a "burned on the bottom" choc chip scone - that is) ...and tip. No more breakfast's offered at this location sadly - just coffee and pastry. Even my pups were disappointed in the experience ... Well, actually, they are ready for their hike right now. And my "coffee stop" represented an unacceptable delay to their morning plans. .

Yelp
2/10 around noon: The service we experienced was lackluster and disengaged. Homeboy working had one other customer. You would think he'd be happy to see us. However, this young man seemed morose. We ordered a couple baked items and two drinks. They were as forgettable as the service. As a former resident, I remember this being a place with lively vibe and friendly service. The coffee was never amazing, but the environment was. This place is no longer that. I did experience the complete opposite of this experience while driving home. Shout out to Shelees in Coachella CA. It's a travel center but the cafe inside will put to shame most cafes you've ever been to. I highly recommend if you ever head that way.

Marlyn M.

Yelp
Cute cafe with nice ambiance. We don't drink coffee but the food was very good. Friendly service.
google avatar

Yelp
Always enjoy eating here. Nice staff, cool building with some history makes for a nice setting. Great coffee.

Yelp
potatoes were dry, unseasoned and slightly burnt. toast was unbuttered and when asked for butter, was told to get in the back of the line And reorder A complimentary butter. I received the same off handed statement when asking for a refill of coffee. the omelet was good and so was the salt. Other than that it was a rough eating experience

Yelp
Worth the stop by on a long drive. Good, hot coffee with great service. Would recommend. The servers were so friendly and kind.

Karleen C.

Yelp
Ate at the Bean this morning . It was the worse meal that I've ever had there. The food didn't taste fresh as if it had set out and been microwaved. Potatoes very salty, scrambled eggs like rubber. Nothing like we've come to expect from the Bean. This is one of our favorite go to places. It'll be a while before we return.
google avatar

Jenny M.

Yelp
We always come to the Bean from El Paso. We love the coffee and the friendly ambiance. Now they opened another location we're they serve food, pastries and coffee. The original Bean, is now coffee and pastries only.you won't be disappointed. Either one is wonderful. Food was really good. Service and costumer service was great.

Yelp
I am so glad I got to know this place. I am a tea and coffee lover so this place had everything I was craving that chilly morning. Seeing quesadillas in the menu was something I couldn't resist. They even accommodated to my request of having only egg whites in them. The service was very friendly and the food was on our table pretty fast. The ambiance inside is so relaxing, it explained the people having a good read along with their drinks. I heard some relocation rumors that would only make it better. Their location is good, though and parking as well. Fully recommend it! Can't wait to go back again for more. Provecho!

Eileen M.

Yelp
Decided to try a new coffee place in town to work from. My boyfriend and I ordered avocado toast and waffles they were mediocre. He ordered the coffee with a refill. When he went back to refill it, 30min before closing, they had dumped out all the remaining coffee as they were already cleaning up. Then 10minutes before closing they shut off the Wi-Fi without notice and locked the bathroom door. Will not be returning.
google avatar

Darlene M.

Yelp
First time visit very clean. Actually, they did not have full menu as listed in Yelp. Only about 4 breakfast items, coffee, and pastries. Almond scone is excellent dough, very soft and fresh. They also had a few muffins. Hopefully, I will get up to full operation soon. Parking excellent.

Yelp
This place has good reviews and I love coffee/pastry shops. There were many customers so I thought this place must be good. The coffee itself was good but the only creamer was probably half n half which I can't stand. My bacon was too crispy. I got very few potatoes that tasted like leftovers. I love potatoes but these weren't good. The toast took some getting used to but wasn't bad. It's like a dense wheat honey bread (?). Very small servings of everything. The items in the picture looks like more than what I received. It's too bad because I'm staying nearby and would have visited again if it was worth it.

Yelp
I enjoy going here to catch up on paperwork. They have outlets near your seating. The ambience is great not to loud. The coffee is pretty good with scones. Went yesterday 7/19/23 and the heat was unbearable. I also tried a biscotti with coffee but was extremely disappointed. As soon as I bit into the biscotti it crumbled everywhere. It was very dry like dry dry. A biscotti is supposed to hold up so that you can masticate it. I told the server and she stated, " I will let the baker know". How about another selection or my money back. I didn't even eat it. It's little gestures like this that make a business successful. No business is perfect but how an issue is handled makes a big difference. I still like this place but will not be trying biscotti's again.. Hope my review helps to improve the business.

Yelp
Check out The Bean coffee house in Mesilla New Mexico! It's an adorable little shop with beautiful art, 3d stained glass and of course great coffee and snacks! We tried the Green Chili Cheddar scones and the Maple Pecan scones. Take home extra because they are that good!
google avatar

Yelp
All the way from California, we're staying at an Airbnb down the street and found this cute coffee shop and thought we'd give it a try! I got the oat-chata latte and my mom got the caramel brûlée latte. We also tried the pumpkin pecan roll and green chile and cheese scone. Each coffee was amazing, not too strong or too sweet. the pastries were so fresh, delicious, and you can tell they're homemade. The service was fast, friendly, and just overall a great experience. Definitely coming back in the am tomorrow for our next stop on our road trip! Bookmarked for the next time we drive through!

Yelp
Great little gem in the Old Mesilla part of Las Cruces! veg-friendly options, great pastries, coffee, and tea
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Seriously AMAZING! I wish I wasn't just passing through. I would be visiting regularly if I didn't live in California! The latte was perfect, the on site "homemade" bread was heavenly! Breakfast was delicious. Next time I am in Las Cruces, I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Debbie K.

Yelp
EXCELLENT. We all loved what we got. Great ambience and set ice. Definitely will go back.
google avatar

Trent E.

Yelp
Had an iced chai and oat raisin muffin. Very tasty!! Loved the ambiance with its local art. The service was outstanding too. Don't bother with Starbucks if you are in the area. This place is great!
google avatar

Casey T.

Yelp
This is the best coffee I've had in Las Cruces so far! They have a drive-through and curbside pickup area (not allowing dine in at the time). The prices were very reasonable and the coffee was good! They have a lot of flavor add ins and also a selection of pastries and breakfast items. I will be back to try them!
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful cafe!!! I live in NE EL Paso and anything worthwhile is the same driving distance as Mesilla, anyway, so it it well worth the drive to me. They serve food until 3 on weekdays and they're open Until 5. They have their own parking lot, plenty of indoor seating with outlets, solid internet, an abundance of outdoor seating, food, beverages, and stellar service!!!! I liked my pumpkin coffee (though I preferred the plain Earl Grey), and I seriously adored the recommended cauliflower tacos!! Of course a random small town cafe does tacos better than anywhere in El Paso. They charred the cauliflower - there was great flavor and they served it with a homemade salsa. Baller. I think this place is going to be my new go-to workspace. LOVE. IT.
google avatar

Jassy P.

Yelp
Such a cute place for eat breakfast. The serving is a good enough amount of food with good pricing. Like a light breakfast. Outdoor seating is available and great to sit at to enjoy the sun and on sundays they have live music playing. I've only ordered the Super Bowl breakfast bowl and it's very tasty, as well as the jalapeño cheddar scone. They also make good coffee, esp their iced coffee, it's refreshing and has a rich flavor. Overall experiences that I've been here have been terrific.
google avatar

Bryan N.

Yelp
This is a delightful coffee shop. Wonderful, friendly service and super tasty coffee. I also had the pleasure of enjoying an omelet, which was fantastic. I especially liked the vibe of this place. Locals gather here and exchange pleasantries and stories as they go about their morning. You can't go wrong by coming here for breakfast or a quick cup of coffee...or not so quick...and hang around and soak up the positive vibes.
google avatar

Alice G.

Yelp
Great coffee! There was 4 of us and everything we ordered was very good. We also had the plain toast and avocado toast and both were delicious
google avatar

Jeremy A.

Yelp
This is a great spot in Mesilla or in the Las Cruces área for a cup of joe or one of their tasty homemade muffins. In the past months going to the Bean was great - the staff and owner are kind and always looking how to please the customers. I'd recommend their curbside orders during this time!
google avatar

Alma M.

Yelp
If you ever want a great coffee, you gotta come by and check this place out. Super cute and interesting in the inside. They got a little book section and a lot of wall art. I ordered the honey lavender latte with oat milk, it was delicious. Plethora of breakfast option & pastries. Great customer service too. Everyone was very friendly & just such a great vibe. I will definitely be coming back here.
google avatar

Jaime T.

Yelp
Very good coffee, location and atmosphere. My only issue is the orders I place three days in a row we're wrong. Why is it so hard to follow simple instructions?
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped for an impromptu lunch date and I regret not stopping in sooner. It has a cozy, laid-back atmosphere but that's not all they have to offer. We both tried the iced autumn latte and for me, at least, it was the best iced coffee I've ever had. The flavor of the ingredients were perfectly balanced and it was great until the very end. They also have a nice breakfast and lunch selection and we both enjoyed our order. My turkey wrap was supposed to be spicy and I would have loved it to have a bit more of a kick but it was fresh and flavorful. Anyway, I will be adding this café to my favorites list.
google avatar

Darla M.

Yelp
The scones are delicious. I would come back again. Service was very good. Very friendly! Nice little spot to relax & enjoy your time there.
google avatar

Peg D.

Yelp
Great coffee spot to try a variety of expresso and coffee. Their coffee is the star. Smooth and flavorful. Roasted right there while you can sit and watch. Great patio with a view of the Mesilla fountain plaza. Really enjoyed afternoons here.
google avatar

Amanda C.

Yelp
Delicious!! Stopped here on our way west and we hope we can come back to Las Cruces again someday just to eat here again. We had the Deluxe Breakfast Quesadilla, the Super bowl, and their lavender honey lattes. Because of covid, we ordered our meals to go. Everything came out quickly and was very fresh. Their potatoes were perfectly crispy, yet tender and well-spiced. We like to try local places while on the road and this spot did not disappoint. Just keep in mind that it's a small, local business, so it will take a bit of time for them to prepare your order, but it is so worth the wait!
google avatar

Andrew B.

Yelp
We are on the road a lot, and most coffee places are underwhelming -- just overpriced garbage with fancy names. Bean of Mesilla was worth it. Coffee was excellent. Honey lavender later was excellent. Pastries very good but not great in terms of flavor. Friendly staff. Highly recommended if in the area.
google avatar

Carmen B.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast! Plenty of free parking on Avenida de Mesilla for your rig and places to walk the dog. Artisan atmosphere - delightful antique furnishings. Walk-up counter. Place your order for bowls, wraps, terrific coffee and orders are delivered promptly to the table. Calm, serene, colorful niche in historic Mesilla to take in the beauty and local charm and do some shopping. Enjoy!
google avatar

Leslie W.

Yelp
This is where much of business in Cruces gets done. You see movers and shakers among the students and retirees. It's also where I go for a super strong coffee and a muffin. I'll be honest. That's alI ever get there. A small cup of their dark roast and one if their amazing muffins. Friends and neighbors head over for one of their breakfast plates. I can't speak on those. Free wifi. The patio is packed mornings and on weekends. Parking can be scarce. Order at the counter. Take your number. Muffins. Yep. Best ones in town. Always fresh. Always made with oats, bran, fruit...get a diffetent one each time! I am not one to go out for coffee. But if I do, I go here. Locally owned.
google avatar

Leeza D.

Yelp
The Bean is The Scene. The space has a cozy artsy feel. They roast their own coffee, like seriously as I'm writing this review the coffee roaster is churning and doing the magic. Lots of different drinks and menu is pretty extensive. Latte is creamy and delicious. Ample parking and great spot. I was in town for a quick meeting but everywhere I went and everyone I spoke with mentions this place! Wow, it really is the scene.
google avatar

Christina Z.

Yelp
Great spot for coffee and breakfast in Mesilla, and they have a lovely dog-friendly outdoor patio! We ordered ahead online, but since the patio looked so nice, decided to eat there with our pup. I had the breakfast quesadilla which was tasty and filling and liked the subtlety of the green chiles mixed in with the egg and cheese and the fresh salsa on the side. The potatoes on the side were nicely seasoned too. My husband had the Bean burrito with green salsa on the side which he enjoyed as well. For drinks, we had their specialty lattes: the honey lavender and the autumn latte - I preferred the autumn latte because it felt like fall in a cup while enjoying the cool fall morning. We grabbed scones for the road and loved the lemon blueberry oat scone - just the right amount of lemony sweetness and not dry at all. Definitely recommend stopping here for your coffee and breakfast needs if you're in the area!

Yelp
This is probably my favorite Coffee Shop in Las Cruces. I have been coming to the place for years! And the service, food, and atmosphere will never let you down. Every time that I come to The Bean I feel at home. Their homemade pastries are always so fresh and delicious along with their made to order food. Love their in house roasted coffee is why I come. I prefer their coffee when I'm in town visiting family. I always swing by and grab a pound to have at home.

Karen S.

Yelp
Stopped to do answer some work emails before meeting a friend for dinner in Mesilla. I had the Diablo Mocha, with red chili which was amazing!
google avatar

Kris M.

Yelp
Such a nice cafe. Great bakery options that are delicious. Staff is very helpful....I needed help to carry everything to the patio and they offered graciously.

JD G.

Yelp
Great Morning breakfast stop. Dogs and cyclists are all welcome. Staff are always friendly, and service is prompt

Yelp
The bean cafe is a cute little cafe with amazing coffee. They roast their beans in house and it literally smells amazing everytime I go in. The staff is super friendly and helpful even when they are super busy. I recommend going in the late morning and getting the green chile breakfast burrito and an iced coffee! You can even sit on the large patio and enjoy your food. Check this hidden gem of Las Cruces. You won't regret it!
