"The Beer Bistro, a craft beer bar pioneer for the last 13 years in the West Loop, has announced it will close. Customers have 11 days to grab a few sliders and a pint, as the bar plans to shutter on Saturday, May 12, according to a Facebook post. The beer bar has been a pillar for the neighborhood, giving Bulls and Blackhawks fans a reliable spot for a quality brew near the United Center before much of the area carried buzz. Owners Bob and Heidi McDermott opened The Beer Bistro in 2005 and served bar food and a huge beer list with more than 200 selections." - Ashok Selvam

My favorite neighborhood bar! It's not quite a dive, but it's not upscale either. They have great food, and an extensive beer list. What's great about this place is that the owner will remember you after your first visit. I can't count how many times we've been hooked up with shots or a beer just for being there. They are also extremely interactive on Twitter, which I think is so fun. In fact, that's how we decided to come to Beer Bistro in the first place! After moving to West Loop, I tweeted asking which bar we should try out first. Beer Bistro responded, we had a conversation, and when we got there the bartender delivered us free shots from the owner to welcome us. That's customer service at its finest. It's not the best place in the area to go to watch a game, as there aren't TVs lining the walls. There are a few TVs that will always have the games on, but you have to find the right angle to see them. If you're ordering food, the pizza here is awesome!

Good bar for a beer and burger or other snack. I went with a group of 8 and we could use the separate space where 10 people really fit in. Tuesdays the have a special for $5 basic burger when you buy a drink. The burgers are great and they be a good bet selection including non-alcoholic if you need to drive. The staff was very friendly and even split the bills. Food came very fast. Sinkflug come again.

Love Love LOVE!!! This place has an awesome selection of beers in the city along with a decent wine selection. Their food is just as great as the beer. I highly recommend trying a bunch of different sliders from: mini burgers, caprease, buffalo chicken, and more! This place is perfect for grabbing a light dinner and some drinks!

Great food! No wonder they've been in the westloop so long. 😊 super friendly staff! Waitress was super attentive and came to our outdoor table several times. Place was packed with construction workers during lunch, so you know it's a good place to eat. Our food arrived fast also. Waitress was well informed about the craft beer selection, over 20 different on Tap.

Great beer selection. Decent food, even though the Nachos are bad. Good specials throughout the week. Plenty of TVs to watch sports. Free shuttle to United Center events. Wait staff is excellent. Parking can be challenging, especially during United Center events. Try the grilled chicken strips.

The Beer Bistro is a good neighborhood bar with an excellent beer list. If it wasn't clear by the name of the place, that's their specialty. They have an extensive (and good) selection. There's a small outdoor patio for 3 or 4 tables, a narrow indoor area, and a small back "room" for larger parties. The food is better than what you'd expect to find at your typical neighborhood bar. Is this my neighborhood? No; but I've come to visit after dining on Randolph. If driving, parking isn't very difficult on weekends when there aren't nearby events. The vibe is laid back but the crowd can pick up and make it difficult to find standing room and carry on a conversation.

The food is great, for bar food. It is very tasty and really good. Their beer selection is AMAZING!! They always have at least 20 different craft beer on tap, which is unique. They have the best beer ever! The service is great. I really like the one on Fullerton and Southport, the servers there are really nice and serviceable. They are always smiling and helpful. I really appreciate this place. It is also the best place to watch a bBlackhawcks game!

HUGE beer selection. The service is okay - depends on the day you go. Food is pretty good considering its just your standard pub food for selection. They have outdoor seating during the warmer months and Madison Street is just a great location regardless. Lots of TV"s for sporting events too.
