A multigenerational favorite since the late 1970s, The Beirut is loved for raw kibbeh, lamb shanks, and that hot, puffy stone-oven bread. Often praised by local food critics and diners alike, it remains a defining Lebanese table in Toledo.

Very bad taste for the grapes ( not well cooked) The food is dry. There is no sauce or vegetables to eat with the rice. The employe didn’t come and ask us if we need anything I deeply regret choosing this restaurant. It was a disappointing experience

Google
Went in a little before 4pm. Nobody dining in but me. Decided on the Beruit Filet Tips as the main course, with Hummus and French onion soup as appetizers. The filet tips were perfect. Cooked just right and incredibly juicy. Rice was the same as what you'd get at almost any Mediterranean restaurant around town. Service was slow once people started showing up. Not because the waitress was busy but from standing at the bar talking. A beautifully decorated place to take friends and family.

Google
Always 5☆ . Food was excellent. Had grilled lamb chops with greenbeans and onions, grape leaves, Ara-yes which is lamb baked in pita bread. Glass of Marlo. And Baklava and rice pudding for desert. I would HIGHLY recommend this place. You won't be disappointed.

Google
Food was very good, had the lamb chops, hummus, and mushrooms. They were very well seasoned and cooked right. The lamb chops were especially delicious, had a wonderful char and were tender and flavorful. Overall amazing experience and will return.

Google
The food is amazing, the atmosphere is authentic and our server was very patient with those less experienced in our group. And if you're not sure about the Lebanese food, they have some Italian versions like ravioli with meat sauce that were a huge hit.

Russell Akred

Google
My wife asked for the stuffed cabbage and the waitress said they don't have it on the menu, but they eat it all the time in the back. I got the chicken shawarma and it was huge. Big enough for two. We had the super sweet and cold rice pudding. Everything was very good.

Google
A fine experience in Toledo. Service well-timed and attentive. Busy for a Tuesday evening, but seating was fast and appropriate. One cocktail was ordered by our table, and it was well concocted and quickly delivered. The food was hit or miss, from outstanding to not so good. The French Onion soup was the absolute best I've ever had anywhere, and I order it every time a restaurant serves it, and I've had some big disappointments even in fine dining establishments, but theirs is utterly perfect. The pita bread was inedible, the appetizer was delicious and we are craving them days later. The garlic sauce served with the mains and the appetizers was not good. We prefer creamy type sauces and they don't carry those. The hummus though is wonderful. We had four different entrees, and every one of them was outstanding in taste, portion size and presentation. We would return without a doubt.

Google
The best Lebanese restaurant in town! I highly recommend it for anyone craving authentic Lebanese flavors. Every dish I try further convinces me that this is truly the best. Exceptional quality and a genuine taste of Lebanon!

Yelp
We are long time fans - kicked ourselves because we didn't yelp them before. Best Mediterranean restaurant in Toledo. Sorry Poco! Tonight when we came in...and there were no seats at the bar...we almost left! But Catherine said just enjoy the booth in the bar and we are glad you are here. Then Magly waited on us in a booth near the bar. Excellent service. And she didn't even worry that we moved to the bar when there was an opening. And the there was Jameson at the bar! Always exceptional and the epitome of great service. Thank you all for who you are and who you always are!

Yelp
All star! Food is consistently great. Shish tawook, Aryas, hummus, mushrooms etc etc!

Yelp
Everyone says this is the best middle eastern food in Toledo. While I will say the ambience is nice and the service is great the food has been hit or miss for me each time. Last time I got super sick within an hour of eating and my husband was sick 3 hours after. Maybe it's my fault for eating Kibbe? Maybe raw ground lamb isn't my friend. They did have the best roasted mushrooms I've ever had and the baklava is stellar.

JC R.

Yelp
So interesting. Above average on the basics, but it's the unique items that excel. The raw Kibbeh was so good, my only complaint was that the serving was so large, I had nothing left for dinner. Order 1/2 size apps and enjoy the solid entrees. Atmosphere is classic 60's - 70's which I'm saying is a strong point. Trip to Toldeo without visiting Beruit is incomplete.

Yelp
The food was really good and well seasoned. The. Baklava was just the right amount of sweetness and not drowning in the sweet stuff. The hummus has a nice flavor. The wait staff was efficient and attentive. It was very cold in the restaurant. The decor was great for the restaurant. Looking forward to going back.

Yelp
This is my third visit to this restaurant. It is the only place where I would trust eating raw Kibbe. Everything on the menu is exceptional. The Fattoush tastes great but I think it was cut up too big and missing lettuce. Their grilled meats are tender, flavorful, and large portions. We ordered a side of hummus, a side of Kibbe, a side of falafel, and the grilled meat platter combo for two. There were four of us, and we could not finish what was in front of us. The service is outstanding, the prices are extremely reasonable, and the food is phenomenal. If you're going for the decor, this is not your place. The place probably has not been updated since 1972 :-) but that will not stop me from going back again and again.

Yelp
I love love, love that food. So much diversity and flavor and never disappointing. It's always the same and it's always very very very good. Been there for years and I look forward to going there

Yelp
This place is obviously a favorite of the locals. There were a lot of greetings to regular patrons. We were seated in the bar area. Dim lighting and fun lamps made the ambiance very pleasant. Our server was a lovely young lady who was about to go to college at UM. We had shish kebab, chicken skewer, grape leaves, arayes, hummus, pita, and olives. The food was the best Lebanese I have had in years. My husband had a wonderful intro to this cuisine. We also had baklava and Turkish coffee. I will return here often during my three month stay in Toledo.

Yelp
I've been coming to the Beirut for more than 25 years (egad) and the food is consistently wonderful! Artichoke heart appetizer and Beirut's Best....yum. this place us still insanely popular. The only loss I feel is the fresh out of the oven pita bread in wonderful soft pillows. Tonight, some of my pita was actually stale. Ouch.

Yelp
The Beirut is our favorite spot in Toledo. We always stop by for what we know will be a delicious meal with great service. We especially enjoy It when Nancy waits on us. She is a treasure.

Yelp
I get the hype now, food was super yummy and portion sizes were much larger than expected. Beef kebab was my favorite! The waitress was also very nice and helpful. Would love to come here again soon

Yelp
I was sick and didn't want to cook. Ordered takeout and the brought it outside to me. So thankful.

Yelp
4.5 I had dinner tonight at The Beirut with a very close friend and we wanted to catch up before ordering. We arrived earlier than the usual dinner crowd (approximately 4:30pm). Our server was in a hurry to have us order and we were initially puzzled by the rush. My friend inquired about a drink menu or wine list and was simply told they had a full bar and she could get whatever she wanted except Sangria (ha!). My friend had hoped to see a drink list for inspiration but no offer of any type of menu. So my friend ordered a Cosmopolitan without knowing what was in it (except for Googling it). I ordered a Chardonnay without knowing the choices- because our server didn't give us a drink or wine menu. I later realized there was an unoaked Chardonnay available (based on a dimly lit sign on the table). Fortunately, a new server took over after the first server had left for the day (perhaps tired at end of shift and hoping we would order quickly?) Our new server was spectacular!! She exchanged my Chardonnay for an unoaked glass and offered a wine/drink list. She was also very attentive to us and provided honest answers to our questions about various menu options. For appetizers, we had the sauteed zucchini and sauteed mushrooms. They were both fabulous, along with a huge helping of pita bread. My friend had a beef Shawarma with rice. She enjoyed it and ordered the same for her son as a Carryout before we left. I had the Shish Tawook with two chicken breasts and rice plus Garlic Sauce (they charge $1.50 for a tiny plastic container- which our server pointed out, but which was necessary to make the dish tasty.) Honestly, it's irksome that the restaurant chooses not to include this condiment with the meal, as it would be very bland without it! Nevertheless, our dinners were delicious as we ordered them. In all, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and would return again and highly recommend The Beirut!

Stephen ..

Yelp
Amazing food people & ambience...just always a wow!..havent been here in 8 years and came home for a wedding and loved it again

Yelp
An eclectic mix of Lebanese and Italian food, but pretty decent nonetheless. Met my cousin and his partner here, during the long Thanksgiving weekend. Was a childhood "go to" spot for his partner, and she wanted us to experience it. We ordered a mess of dishes to share, including: a fattoush salad, hummus, baba ghanouj, kabob and such platter along with a sausage / pepperoni / mushroom pizza. The Lebanese dishes were all really excellent and the pizza was just average in our opinion. These items were more than enough for four people to share, and we ended up taking several to-go boxes home with us to enjoy over the next several days. I would most certainly return here to try other Mediterranean dishes on the menu.

Terese I.

Yelp
Beirut is our entire family's favorite destination. The food is always fantastic. The wait staff is outstanding and the prices are affordable. Best Lebanese restaurant we've experienced. Hugely recommend it to any and everyone.

Nicole H.

Yelp
Always love this place. Delicious options. The Ara-yes are one of our favorites!!!! Staff is helpful. I will be back.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant Delicious food Nine ambience Best Lebanese in Toledo' Our go-to places

Chris S.

Yelp
We met a friend for lunch @ 3PM. Spent the next few hours eating to our hearts content. Lamb.... And beef kabobs, olives, grape leaves and baklava for dessert plus Turkish coffee. I've got to say this is one of the finest dining experiences possible. Nobody hovering but excellent service plus very excellent food!

Yelp
I hope Toledo appreciates the quality of its Lebanese food because it's special, and hard to find in other cities. I eat meat, but the menu accommodates my vegan friends. This is one of my favorite "go to places" to enjoy Lebanese food. We had a starter of Fattoush & Tabouli & hummus. I had a yummy shish kebab. While they have lots of Lebanese desserts, I like their ice cream & it's only two dollars.

Yelp
The food is great--this is by far--my favorite restaurant in Toledo when I go to visit there! It is very decorative and has pictures of various [-autographed-] celebrities who have dined there. It's always clean and decorative. The service is always top notch.

Yelp
Beirut is the best Mediterranean outside of Dearborn! If you're looking for great service a friendly atmosphere and unforgettably authentic Mediterranean style foods then look no further!

Mary Beth V.

Yelp
I love the food at this restaurant,BUT the gnats were all over our food and drinks, it was awful. We spoke to the waitress who knew about how bad they were but said the restaurant had a deep clean. Not deep enough. This makes me sad , love the food but not the bugs.

Becky A.

Yelp
The first issue was how dark the dining room was. It was literally so dark in there it was hard to see the other people at the table... which makes me wonder what they're hiding (dirt?). The waitress seemed completely disinterested and like she couldn't be bothered to refill our water glasses. I asked once for a refill and she poured my glass but ignored everyone else's. The side salad was a joke. Literally a small bowl of lettuce with two tiny tomato slices on it. The hummus was ok but had a strong flavor, and the veggies served with it looked like they'd been sitting around (the end of the cucumber had that dry feeling to it as if you cut slices off and then let it sit). The chicken was ok but the rice had no flavor. And the prices were too high for what we got. If you want Mediterranean food there are much better places in the area (e.g Grapeleaf, Damascene Grill, Tiger Deli). No desire to go back to this one.

Yelp
If you are going to be within 200 miles of Toledo...a stop at the Beirut is simply a "must-do". My family & I have been going to the Beirut since I was an infant. Although I live in Miami now...every trip back to visit my family involves one if not several stops at the Beirut. The food is simply the best Lebanese cuisine you will find anywhere in the United States. Labib and Karen remember everyone who visits and many of the same staff who were there when I was just 5 are still there today...which is a testament to a great establishment! It is no secret why Paul W. Smith, Jamie Farr and many other celebrities and news-makers stop by when they are in the Toledo area. If near Toledo...Beirut is a must do!
google avatar

Amy C.

Yelp
I've eaten Lebanese food all over the country and the Beirut is one of the best - it's every bit as good as what I've had in Dearborn (maybe better). The zahle kibbi is the best! The portions are very generous and service is always good. I no longer live in Toledo but when I'm back in town, it's one of those places that I have visit. Excuse the baby arm, even she loves it!

Chris H.

Yelp
First time eating here....Service ok, if you want to eat your food with gnats, not just one gnat but constantly flying over our food and even our waitresses agreed with us every time...we swatted over 50x, she dropped off our drinks to go...then our waitresses disappeared, after waiting15 min, I took the bill to the check out, they were confused...I said we do not know where she is and were tired of swatting gnats , this is bullshit, all 4 staff left the station, I stated I will be contacting the health department, she said she will get the owner, I said ok and waited.....no owner showed up and and finally left, 0.00 tip. When employees knowingly back the employer fully aware that their paycheck is on the line and they choose to continually screw over the customer, I have no problem to report them and give them 0.00$$ I suggest to visit other restaurants outside Unholy Toledo!

Laura H.

Yelp
Decent atmosphere and food. Terrible problem with lots of gnats flying around our table while we tried to eat. Waitress brought bill and never came back. Told other staff and all four ignored us and walked away. We will be contacting the Health Department. Will not be returning any time soon!

Yelp
The food is pretty good, but despite this place's sacrosanct reputation, there are many better options in town. I had a falafel sandwich and a spinach pie. The Grape Leaf, Sidon, and, improbably enough, Maumee Bay have better falafels, while Sidon and Tiger Bakery have better spinach and cheese pies. The service was very good, though, bringing up the final rating to 4 stars.

Yelp
Over the course of 2020 as a lot of restaurants have started offering delivery & take-out for the first time, some with limited success, Beirut is absolutely killing it in the quality and quantity department for dining-out. I really appreciate the fact that they've kept their east door open just for to-go, and as you come in to pick up your order it's really great to see the level of caution and safety they've put into the operation. Not only does it feel safe, as you grab your bag and head back to your car, but you'll also likely be shocked by the weight of the food offered. Just last night we ordered dinner for two, and easily have enough leftovers for a complete second dinner tonight. Beirut is hands down one of the best restaurants in Toledo, and it's amazing being able to enjoy their delicious food at a time when it's become increasingly difficult to find comfort and solace in these bizarre times. While we can't wait to dine-in in 2021 we feel super lucky we can still enjoy their terrific Lebanese food at home for the time being.

A S.

Yelp
Amazing food! My family and I have been going there for years. Me moved to another state, and I cannot find any that even comes close to this place.
google avatar

Chris D.

Yelp
Beirut still gets it done. I've been coming here as long as I can remember. We went with another couple. The service is still excellent and the food is delicious! We went on a Friday evening and we were lucky enough to get seats. We tried the raw kibbi (excellent!) and we had 3 orders of Beirut Best, which is hummus topped with marinated filet tips and we had 1 order of lamb chops. Everything was delicious, the place was clean and inviting, and service top notch! I'm so happy we got to come back to this Toledo landmark!
google avatar

Tom B.

Yelp
Definitely great food and the portions are right up to par. A little cramped though, a bit dark and quite loud. Service was ok, very slow but the waitress was friendly and tried to help as much as possible
google avatar

Charles B.

Yelp
Ordered take out. Found a piece of steel wool in food. Called and was barely offered my money back. No apology. No next meal on us. Very disappointed given I've eaten here occasionally for 10+ years. Never again.

Emily S.

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant!!! Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Great place to go in Toledo!!
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
I still love this place and can't get enough of their lamb chops - we still come every time we visit Toledo and I would recommend reservations since it's always slammed

Casey C.

Yelp
Just really went downhill. Not even worth it anymore at all. Couldn't even eat the food. It was inedible. Literally. I could not put it in my mouth. Years ago yes, 2024 absolutely no.

Rj S.

Yelp
We just went in side to eat on Saturday about 430. Nothing wrong with the food not an issue. The service we received was terrible. Lady with dark hair and an accent was the worst waitress we have ever had. Tried rushing us to order never check on the food was. I will never eat inside again. We will continue to order food to pick up. I can't believe that then have not figured this out. Must be a relative to the owner.

Yelp
Great lebanese food. I've had lebanese food in UAE and Jordan. It's very comparable.. Good service. The food was served fast. The Fatayer should have been served with some sauce and provided hummus for the pita bread instead of butter
google avatar

Chi A.

Yelp
Ordered 3 different entrees. Not bad, but not as flavorful as I would expect. Portions are quite small. This would be a healthier version of middle eastern food. Not much oil,low sodium etc. Meat was very tender. Chicken kabobs were 'mushy which means they put too much meat tenderizer . Maybe their done in experience is better. Might be back.

Yelp
When I sat down I told the server I wasn't too hungry so I was looking to pair a couple of appetizers. She immediate said Ara-yes and hummus. I asked her what Ara-yes is and she said it was kafta pressed in a pita and baked. Sounded good to me. She recommended I dip the Ara-yes in the hummus. While I was waiting on my order, my eyes got a little too big for my stomach and I ordered both a spinach and a meat fatayer. The hummus came in a pretty decent size bowl. I'd said it was bigger than the bowls I eat cereal out of in the morning and it was filled to the top with hummus. The server was right. Ara-yes was basically pita bread stuffed with seasoned meat and cooked. When dunking it is hummus it was excellent. The two paired together well. The ara-yes was served with a plate of raw cucumber, radish and onion. Not my cup of tea and everything was great the way it was so I didn't want to let some healthy veggies get in the way. The fatayers came out about mid meal and I knew right away I wasn't going to be able to finish everything. I was thinking they were going to be something small for $2 but they are decent sided. I bet 4 would have filled me up for an entire meal. I gave the spinach a stab first. I was thinking it was going to be something like a spinakopeta but it wasn't. I think the spinach was seasoned and a little salty for me. I still ate the whole thing. I couldn't cram the meat fatayer down my gullet so I let the server talk me into taking it back to the hotel with me. There are several places that offer middle eastern cuisine and I'm an out of town we so I can't say this is the best spot, but it was excellent. Good enough for me to be hesitant of trying a different place. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
This restaurant has a nice ambiance. Not terribly loud. Good food and portions. Waitress was knowledgeable!

Yelp
The hummus and raw kibble was great! Servers were very helpful and the atmosphere was charmingly authentic.

Shabbir H.

Yelp
Love Lebanese food. We have been going there since I was a kid. The old management had some issues but the are very nice and friendly now. I recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Paul T.

Yelp
I've been going there since 1978. One of Toledo's best. If you haven't tried Lebanese food, you've got to!

Shabbir H.

Yelp
I already placed my review and it must have gotten erased. I have been going her and to Byblos since I was a little boy. I remember going here with my parents. Even, now, the tasty food keeping with the old and same menu. The service is some times slow but that is how they had always worked, so expect this and enjoin the conversation. They and use a little update inside but I think they are old fashoin and conservative .

Patricia S.

Yelp
What do you think? I was with a party of 20 for a birthday dinner, reservations were made weeks in advance. The waitress took the orders and food slowly began to arrive. Understandable that with a large group the food is going to arrive in waves. The waitress came down to our end of the table and asked us to repeat our orders. So we did. Our orders started to come out and I got my salad. Everyone got their entrees except for me. After a while, it was evident that I was never going to get my entrée. When the waitress finally came back out again I informed her that I didn't feel like I was going to be paying for my wine or my salad because I never got my food. I ended up eating food off of other peoples plates like a feral cat. However, the manager told the waitress that I was to pay for the wine because I drank it but I didn't have to pay for the salad. I was dumbfounded. You don't bring me any food and you don't even make an effort to make things right a $10 glass of wine is going to kill you. And there was no effort of an apology on either management or the waitresses part. I paid for the wine and left a tip. This was not the experience I was hoping for, and I was really looking forward to that lasagna.

Yelp
Beirut is absolutely one of the best restaurants in Toledo. They're food is authentic Lebanese and so damn good! They also have Italian option which are just as good. For Italian, I love their spaghetti and the lasagna. Things that I have to have when I visit Beirut: Beiruts best - beef with gravy(?) Over hummus Kibbe - the raw appetizer one Ara-yes - cooked kibbe in pita...don't be scared Hummus - smooth and so flavorful and the veggies are always the freshest and crispest Lamb chops - little ones charbroiled...so damn good Fattoush - best there is anywhere Grape leaves - the meat ones...so much flavor, tender, perfect spices ...and good the next day Bread - puffy pita... absolutely worth the carbs The atmosphere is dark and can be romantic or great for families and groups. I've always had great service. Oh, and I love the house Lebanese wine!

Sue S.

Yelp
The Lebanese food at The Beirut is the best in Toledo! I've gone here for years and brought out-of-town family & friends here, and they always say they can't get this authentic of Middle Eastern food anywhere else. Service is usually always spot-on too. It's good to make reservations since they are always busy at dinner. Some of my favorite things to order are raw Kibbee, stuffed grape leaves, Kafta, slow roasted lamb shank, beef kabobs, fatoosh, and hummus. The servings are more than generous and we always have leftovers to take home the next day.
