This is probably the best Cajun meat market in Texas. They also have a hot food section with tons of fresh Cajun food and seafood You can eat in their dining room. I also had the best breakfast sandwich I've had in my life from there. It was boudin with bacon and egg on a homemade biscuit. Unbelievably good.

We hit up The Best Stop Cajun Market on Katy Fort Bend Rd and walked away absolutely stuffed and satisfied. Their smoked boudin link was rich and smoky, the boudin balls—both regular and with black pepper—packed a flavorful punch, and the red beans and rice offered that heartwarming, home-cooked feel. Authentic Cajun goodness in every bite! Can’t wait to swing by again and dig into everything else they’ve got on the menu. Fun fact: this is the first Best Stop location outside Louisiana, bringing beloved Cajun classics like cracklins, boudin, po’boys, and more straight to Texas.

Google
I was told about this place from a guy at work from Lafayette. He told no lies. I’ve never had a cheese burger taste like this. The chicken cracklings are top tier and the pork cracklings are soooooo flavorful. I’m about to cook the Cajun poppers and stuffed mushrooms this evening. Now, you’re gonna have to drive to get to HWY99 if you’re in Houston - but trust me - it’s worth EVERY MILE!!

Cory Strouth

Google
The BEST Cajun food in Houston [area] and is authentic and original to Louisiana. They said their OG location is in Scott, LA and they have the most delicious foods here. If you ain't had the chicken cracklins [with mustard], you're missing out. They DO offer military discount so that helps with the prices.

Google
Ever since I was told about this place, I don't get my boudin anywhere else. Way better than those over priced, flavor lacking spots. Customer service is excellent and they're always helpful when looking for something specific.

Google
The food was good, the service was great, but the prices are kinda expensive. The crawfish etouffee ( Frozen ) was good but the crawfish were small and also some were shredded, the gravy / roux is very good! $25 riding the line of sit down dine in restaurant prices, bigger portions than a restaurant. The chilli ( Frozen ) taste kinda like sloppy Joe, it has onion and tomatoes in it but no beans. Not my preferred taste. It's not sweet but I wish it was spicier and more savory. The BBQ burger was ok the sauce was good onions were fresh. both the burger and the po-boy can be customized I only got sauce and onions. Stuffed bell pepper was good! The sausage po-boy was very good but again kinda expensive for a single link sausage sandwich. $14 No fries no drink! The wraps ( egg rolls ) were amazing the regular and the spicy, the spicy isn't too hot, it's not mouth burning. The boudin balls were fried golden brown crispy on the outside soft on the inside very good!! The paper Jack cheese is mixed in with the boudin mix, a lot of places I been to inject it with cheese or place a square cut of cheese in the inside before frying them. Again not hot or mouth burning... Not even hot IMO. Store has fresh cuts of meat, turducken, Cajun fried Turkey, bacon wrapped chicken, cracklings, smoked sausage, smoked boudin, big displacement pots for boils, lots of seasoning, hot sauces, boils, Louisiana based food products some that can be found at other stores some exclusive here. Jarred food and sauces. I believe they cater or offer big quantities. The store was clean, there is a seating area. If you are ordering regular and non spicy mixed and feeding spice sensitive people ask to have the containers labeled I couldn't tell the regular from the spicy by looking but could taste the difference.

Google
Let me start by saying this place has a large variety of Cajun items. Very clean there was no line as we went on a weekday. The staff was very helpful and kind. So we tried almost 1 of each of the ready made fried selections which included boudin balls with and without cheese, chicken skins and crawfish pies. The chicken skins were ok they are definitely different than the traditional cracklin . It tasted as though there was a batter but also reminiscent of a jerky the flavor was not bad though. We did not care for the boudin as it didn’t seem solid it was a very wet bit runny texture. The flavor was not bad but it was a bit runny for our taste “this may come down to preference “. We also purchased the packaged smoked boudin you can take home to cook but it had the same texture. I would say give it a try for yourself.

Google
From a SW Louisiana native who has been transplanted outside of the state for to many years, the smoked boudin is excellent and I love, love, love the chicken cracklin! I am looking forward to the next time I get to visit Houston. The Best Stop Cajun Market is a required stop! You will be thankful!

Yelp
I love me some boudin from Scott, Louisiana! I had a craving for something different but "light" (not a full meal) of the snack nature. But..we are in Katy so I didn't know what to expect. The employees were attentive & helpful. The boudin balls were interesting. I've had them from another popular stop in Scott & these were a different consistency than what I am familiar with. Almost like there was a gravy mixed in. They were spicy & fresh. The cajun mayo was $1.50 extra/not included which was a slight bummer but such is the cost of doing business; nothing is free. I want to go back to try their regular boudin but I don't think I'll go out of my way to get the boudin balls again.

Yelp
I was in heaven when I seen Best Stop here in Houston. I do not get to Scott Canton exit in Louisiana that much anymore. I even been know to drive from Lake Charles to the Best Stop at the Scott Canton exit. It is just a mere 99 miles. I came in to get the cracklin. I got a pound and it was great as always. Season was not as red and spicy as before. But, still wonderful. My wife got a boudin wrap and it was mighty tasty too. We split a small red beans & rice with pork sausage. It was wonderful. Seasoned just right. What a nice thing to have in Houston. So good ole cracklin and some homemade sides to go with it. The meat market is great too. Lots of selections and all fresh. Staff were very friendly and customer service was great. You have to stop and try to cracklin if nothing else. It is well worth it.
google avatar

Rae S.

Yelp
I have been to the Scott, LA location. I did not like red beans and rice before this buttttttt let me tell y'all about how Best Stop made me out of a believer!!! Everything in that dish is cooked and seasoned to perfection. I would say I'm gonna attempt to replicate it at home but I don't wanna disrespect Best Stop like that. But I will make me some cornbread to go with it. I love the sausage they put in it as well. It's so good! Like - FOR REAL! The Katy location is always packed. I heard they're opening several others in the Houston area. Can't wait.
google avatar

Lina G.

Yelp
Really fun spot! It's half grocery store and restaurant, so you can shop for some pre-seasoned meat after ordering some food. I ordered a po'boy just to try things out and it was pretty tasty! However, the star of the show was the biscuit!
google avatar

Yelp
In the few times, I've traveled in Louisiana....I have always stopped at the "Cajun Market". Usually for some cracklins and other supplies for the smoker. Now I don't have to travel too far. I enjoyed the Chicken Cracklins and the smoked boudin. It had a great smoke flavor and some kick! It had flavor and spiciness. I did enjoy the PJ boudin ball biscuit. Anything breakfast-wise, I'd get in form of a breakfast sandwich. The bacon order was small for the price. Other than boudin and sausage, they got plenty of products to choose from. I'll definitely be stopping back.
google avatar

Angelia V.

Yelp
We've only had the cracklins but have been here a few times. It's delicious every time. Service is quick. The Cajun mayo they have on the side is good too. I prefer the chicken cracklins over the pork but they're both good. If you do plan to come for the cracklins then it's best to come earlier in the day as they may be sold out. I'll do an update when we get to try some of their other things. :)

Yelp
Boudin Pepperjack balls, smoked boudin, and chicken cracklin around 11am are what dreams are made of. It is tied with Dons Meat Market for our favorite boudin balls. Sadly, the crawfish boudin was not good and the crawfish etouffee (purchased around 3-4pm) left a lot to be desired for.
google avatar

Tara P.

Yelp
Oh my goodness. Where do I start. Wondering if any one from The Scott, La location comes for quality control at all?! Nope. Just no. Smoked boudin should not be black in color. There should be a nice smoked casing, not saturated with smoke and mushy. Do these people in Katy even know what good boudin is? Don's please come to Katy! Or Billy's Boudin, please come to Katy Tx. Heck even Market Basket on Nelson Road in Lake Charles please bring boudin to Texas!

Connie B.

Yelp
Delicious foods - both flavor boudin balls, smoked chicken sausage, chicken gumbo and my favorite beer-to-go Abita Amber. Brought enough to share and frozen varieties for a couple weeks. Ordered ahead and it was ready to ride. Very efficient and friendly folks take care of you ! IT'S SO GOOD
google avatar

Yelp
Just get here period. If you are a fan of Cajun cuisine, this is the spot for you. Don't be deterred if you see a line, this place is run like a well oiled machine and the line moves very quickly ( so be ready when you get to the counter). Boudin balls - delish, sorry I did not get more, chicken crackling- fresh and hot out the fire and SEASONED, the pork crackling- I could have skipped but l will know for next time, smoked boudin links- clearly made for the gods and well worth the 45 minute drive for me. They also have the freezer/ refrigerator section with a nice variety of seasoned and stuffed chicken, duck, rabbit, as well as jalapeño and bell peppers... no regrets breaking my diet and picking up some of everything :). Staff are very friendly and very helpful. Stop by, pick up a very satisfying meal to go and get a second one for later.. you will want it.

Yelp
Its far from my location and I honestly like djs Boudain better good customer service im just going to stay on my side of town

Yelp
Listen to me when I say, I felt like a baby in a candy store. I have to wait to get this type of food for my family cause my mom is the closest to Lousiana. I spent $85 and got stuffed chicken, chicken gumbo, chicken boudin, chicken sausage, boudin balls, and chicken crackling. The line wasnt too bad when I arrived around 11:15 but now it's super long but everything was organized. They also have stuffed peppers, boxes of boudin and hot plates.
google avatar

Nick R.

Yelp
They are clearly getting their footing, it's still early yet. The line was long on a late Sunday afternoon, not sure but I suspect it could ease up after the novelty wears off. The in-store dining area is really small, and the plastic wear and condiments weren't well stocked, more due to the volume of customers than inattention. The prices are quite good for what you get, and I got a pound of chicken cracklins and a pound of boudin for just about 30. Didn't love having to pay for saltines (first pack of two is free, but one free pack of two saltines for a pound of boudin is rough, even if each additional pack is $0.12). The smoked boudin is easily the best I have ever had.

Yelp
You know I'm nosy so I gotta go give this place a try since there hasn't been too many photos up yet. Y'all. GO. It's so dang good, everything's so well seasoned it's amazing. I'm not sure how well cracklins do with reheating so I got a quarter pound of the pork ones for about 9 bucks to snack on and it's the best dang thing. Juicy, crispy on the outside, soooo dang delicious. Also surprised by how delicious the smoke sausage was, that definitely came outta left field but I would highly highly recommend that too! Everything else was alright, though I would say the wraps are very 'wrap' heavy, i.e lots of fried dough before you get to the inside goodies, so i'd rate that lower than the rest. I went at around 10:30 on a Thursday and I was in and out in about 10 mins. I know for a FACT this place is gonna get hit by massive crowds once word gets around so definitely go before the storm!

Yelp
Louisiana native here and was I ecstatic when I learned this establishment finally opened. I visited on their soft opening, which was the day before the official opening. There was no line, we went straight in and ordered. The employees were welcoming. However, they messed up on our order multiple times for example, packaging food when didn't order and putting more cracklings in the bag then I ordered. Will I come back again, you darn skippy. So happy I don't have to take that 3 and a half hour drive.
google avatar

Mysha R.

Yelp
Service Everyone was so friendly, and the staff was quick with orders. The only thing is there was nothing telling where the line started, so customers were a little confused. Food For us to have come around 6pm and they close at 8, the food was fresh. Smoked boudin was great. Roll ups were good and crispy. The chicken cracklin could have used some more seasoning like they do in LA. All in all....EVERYTHING WAS GREAT! We'll be back. Ambience Super inviting. Tons of space to sit down with your family and eat. I accidentally deleted the other menu but they do have pork and chicken cracklin, boudin, and roll ups.

Hector Z.

Yelp
This place is fire!! The quality of the food is amazing along with the service. I went during lunchtime and it was not packed. They had an excellent selection of food. I told them it was my first time there and they gave me samples of their best items. Definitely will be back.
google avatar

Efrain S.

Yelp
A new place in the horizon & I was shocked how good Cajun food can be..... The selection of meats & this place is amazing I would definitely come again just to try their prepared meats as they looked delicious. Unfortunately I came to order food so I got a Crab Burger... you heard me a Crab Burger!?!? Yea very odd but let me tell you this was the best crab Burger I've ever had.............. The crab patty was sooo crispy & filled with delicious crab meat that went well with the pepper jack cheese. The buns were toasted to perfection wasn't sure what buns it came with but they were fluffy & delicious. The red beans & rice have to be the best ones I've had from any location solely because they taste like Popeyes lol The smoked boudin & boudin ball were pretty good never had boudin and it was full of spicy and rich flavors I would try again. The chicken crackling was crunchy & full of delicious chicken flavor I could not miss. Overall this place is a must try but the service could definitely improve since it's always busy.

Yelp
I've been meaning to get by here and today I finally had a chance. I was hoping for something similar to the location in Scott LA but it's a little different. The store is bigger and also has a dining room to sit and eat. There's a bit of confusion when you walk in as to how to order...I think there's a formed line but people come from behind the counter to take your order as well so just go with the flow. Sylvia took my order and she even let me sample the boudain because I couldn't remember which one I usually buy. Service is quick and friendly and they have all the good food, meat and spices and even King Cakes. The only thing missing was the Zapps chips. I eat them with my boudain and they sell them at the Scott location. How can you represent LA and not sell Zapps chips?! Please stock the Zapps! Looking forward to my next visit. Oh yeah they also sell souvenirs, tshirts, caps, etc.

Scroogie M.

Yelp
Gave it 2 stars because the staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. Everything was organized and clean. The pork cracklings were dry and it seemed as if they were air fried. It was entirely too hard and lacked flavor. I'll try more things on the menu next time because I always give 3 chances for every place I visit
google avatar

Randy D.

Yelp
Everything over priced and they use cheap asian crawfish tails. Pyburns,Buds, Watkins, and Farm Fresh Market are way better
google avatar

Stephanie G.

Yelp
After 2 visits here, one Saturday morning and the next visit 4 days later, I give it 3 stars. Came for cracklin Saturday morning, the flavor was amazing. I bragged about it to everyone. Returned Wednesday morning, got home with my cracklin and it was not good. It was not even close to the quality I had that Saturday. I also wanted chicken cracklin but they were out. They couldn't make more because they were out of flour. My advice is to never allow them to close your bag before you pay. Make sure to taste what's in your brown bag before you leave to ensure the quality. Also get samples before making your decision too. I noticed Saturday that they bagged my cracklin and put the sticker on the side so i could see and taste what was inside on my way to the register. Contrarily on Wednesday, they bagged my cracklin and used the sticker to close the bag. Trust me, had the bag been open then I would have tasted what they gave me before I paid! I would have left those cracklin right there. 30 bucks down the drain. Be careful!

Yelp
Im not sure who you have putting reviews or erasing them but I'm gonna speak on my behalf . I will say I almost left when I saw an employee washing meat off in the some type of sink and looking up at me while doing so (no gloves ). I was already there and hungry so I figured I would try it anyway . I'm not sure what part of the pig you use but the boudin was absolutely horrible..I could carry on but I will just leave it here with this . I don't recommend this place at all. Thanks for ruining my experience .
google avatar

Yelp
I'm so happy and excited to see a Best Stop in Katy!! Now I don't have to drive so far to get those great cracklins and boudin!

Yelp
When I heard Best Stop Cajun Market was in Katy, Tx I had to plan a trip to visit. As a Louisiana native it is very hard to find authentic Cajun food outside of Louisiana. While in Katy I stopped at Best Stop. I was greeted promptly on the way in and several times while in the establishment. There is a good selection of Louisiana products, but not as much as I was hoping for. :) The place is about the size of a 7 -11 convenient store with a grocery section, a sit down eating area, a freezer section, and a deli style area with hot food products... I was super excited about the hot food!!!!! In the food section there was boudin, boudin balls, fries pork chops, cracklings, red beans and rice, cajun egg rolls, and much more. I went straight for the boudin and boudin balls. I got mild but spicy and pepper jack was available too. The boudin was good. I have had lots of boudin from many different Louisiana classics. I give the boudin a 7 out of 10. I enjoyed it and will definitely be going back. I also grabbed some frozen smoked sausage to take back home. Great job Best Stop for bring authentic Louisiana cuisine to Katy. I look forward to trying your planned San Marcos location!!!!!

Tonie M.

Yelp
The smoked boudain is amazing. Happy I don't have to drive to Louisiana for this. Worth the drive to Katy.

Karen B.

Yelp
Service was wonderful, but the food tasted awful and bland. The food was overpriced! Ordered the pork chops( undercooked, cooked in corn meal and no seasoning), fries (ok). Boudin balls( texture mushy and contained no rice), red beans (dry and mashed together; Popeyes taste better)!! gumbo, (chicken broth with whole chicken pieces with the bone., not seasoned at all, awful) hot dog, (over cooked) chicken tenders, (over cooked), boudin eggrolls. (Good). crawfish pies, (contained little to no crawfish), chicken cracklings, ( tasted like stale old fried chicken skin) and last but not least pork cracklings 27.99lb flavorless with a sprinkle of slap yo mama (over over priced) and ranch crackers (ok)!! First of all everything was very, very bland not seasoned well. The establishment is supposed to be like a Louisiana stop, but contained no hot food to make a comfort meal of, no turkey wings, no boil, no sides, no gravy, no greens!! Please read the reviews and don't be duped like we were, because we ended up spending well over $100 and were not satisfied at all!!!

Lynn C.

Yelp
My family and I went recently and got boudin balls, cracklin and my husband ordered a burger. Being cajuns, we were very familiar with best stop and had high hopes. The food was absolutely terrible. The "boudin balls" were basically fried dough with hardly any boudain in them. The cracklin were not at all crisp like they should be and were not good, and my husband said he has had better hamburgers at mcdonalds. Very disappointing all the way around. Won't be eating there again.
google avatar

Qiana ..

Yelp
I'm from Louisiana so I know good cajun food when I taste it. I love the mild boudin and the cracklings. Every time I go here, I get some boudin that's already cooked (to eat in the car) and I also get some frozen boudin packs to stock in my freezer. Great food!
google avatar

Le G.

Yelp
I am not sure what I was expecting. I think boudin is subjective to everyone's tastes. When I went the shelves were pretty empty. I will go back and try the hamburger blends.
google avatar

Chiggermomma F.

Yelp
A crowded mess. Completely unorganized. There is a line for food and then a line for cracklings and boudin which makes since but not really when neither are ready so a dozen people leave a line to loiter at the pickup counter. When the cracklings finally come out, they are passed out to customers with no rhyme or reason so people who just got there scoop up the cracklings you have been waiting 10min for. Employees everywhere but completely usless with this crappy system. Lots of registers at the front but again, no clear line so customers lost as to who is next and what register to go to. The chicken skins are good. The boudin balls were a soggy mess. Shame on you! I will not be returning unfortunately. Between the chaos in the parking lot and the choas inside, no thanks
google avatar

Penny S.

Yelp
It was busy but the lines moved fast. The cracklins are good. Also had the boudin balls. Definitely recommend
google avatar

Ryan G.

Yelp
So this is my second trip back since they've been open, first time was awesome the cracklins were fresh and warm and good. Now on my second trip back today they've seemed to pre-bag the cracklins that seem to taste like they've been sitting on the counter a while and were just room temperature and were just not that good. I think for the price you should be offered hot & fresh cracklins.
google avatar

Inez M.

Yelp
My husband and I went there on Saturday and everyone was so nice. It was busy but lines were flowing. The food was delicious everything we got was good especially the chicken cracklings omg... in love. Parking is not bad. Great service, great food.

Jason N.

Yelp
I am a Outside salesman that has visit this location three times every time I visit this location there at least 8 to 10 employees but yet I walk into the store and stand there for a good 5 to 10 minutes before somebody even acknowledge me. Today I went in and tried to get original Boudoin And they didn't have any cooked yet. I tried to get crackling Cracklin were burnt, overcooked hard as a rock, the chicken Cracklin burnt cooked way overcooked the egg looked burnt. I have never seen such poor quality and poor staffing and poor help at any best stop I've been to several locations. I travel a lot and I'm telling you this is probably the worst location I've ever visited. I guess I have to go back to Lafayette to get the service you need and the quality of product that you need because whoever is running this place who owns it don't know how truly Louisiana food supposed to look even the pictures online food looks tacky. Somebody please help this Louisiana restaurant baes successful. I've never seen a best stop that didn't have a line at the registers every morning.
google avatar

Ann M.

Yelp
Excellent Cajun Bodin Poboy and Crab Burger. The seasoning is amazing on both. We will definitely make this a go to when we are in the area.

Lionel B.

Yelp
I went early mourning and lucked up I did not have to wait and was able to get everything I needed without a line to deal with. I bought crackling, stuffed chicken and stuffed bell peppers oh I also picked up there boudin. So far I have tried the boudin and cracking both were okay but I do wish the boudin would have been a bit more spicy for my taste the crackling was a little better but a little to much fat overall not bad but not perfect. I know the employees have not worked together as a team so hopefully they will get things together like the Best Stop in Scott, Louisiana. Overall not bad keep trying to get better!

Randy C.

Yelp
When is something going to be done about the rotting, stinking, eyesore, giant pile of garbage in front of the Katy store? I'm sure the other tenants in the center appreciate the attraction of rodents and roaches, not to mention the view. I can't believe the City of Katy has allowed this. If it's filthy outside, how's the inside? I was there this morning, it just keeps growing and growing. Welcome to Katy!

Cynthia S.

Yelp
Being from Southwest Louisiana ...Elton/Lake Charles I visited this location on Thursday 12/28/24 totally disappointed.... Cracklings fried hard without any seasonings, boudin rice very musshy with plenty of seasoning, fried pork chop looked fried to perfection only to be disappointed with batter that came completely off when I attempted to cut it. This is not the type of food that is served from the Original Lafayette Louisiana location. Please stop trying to imitate real Southwest Louisiana Cuisine

Chris B.

Yelp
Dealt with Nick the General Manager today on a special order for a friend of mine that had a recent death in the family, and I wanted to see if they would deliver a package to the family. He went above and beyond to accommodate my order and ended up personally delivering the meat in an iced down cooler to their doorstep. Can't say how much I appreciated the service! They said he was super nice when he delivered the package as well. Thanks to Nick and his team and I will definitely be shopping there again.

Tony B.

Yelp
I visited the store for the first time in Katy and it wasn't like in Scott, La , I was so disappointed with the food !! The boudin balls with Pepper jack cheese didn't have any cheese at all and mushy . And what's up with the black boudin links smh , I had better links from a meat market here in Houston.
google avatar

Yelp
The restaurant/store staff was very helpful and provided excellent service, answering all my questions about the available food options. The store was well stocked and clean, offering a wide variety of Cajun foods and condiments. The Cajun condiments are pricey; some can be found at your local grocery store. They also had alligator meat, which was quite intriguing. I purchased a pack of original boudin, fried chicken cracklins, a fried boudin ball with pepperjack cheese, and a boudin egg roll. All of these dishes were extremely delicious. Although the chicken cracklins were good, some of them were quite spicy. If you are a fan of spicy foods, this place would be perfect for you. However, while waiting in line, I noticed that one of the cashiers put her hands in the crackling warmer without gloves or washing them. This is unsanitary and could pose a liability to the restaurant if people get sick. By the looks of her co-worker, he was also dissatisfied with her actions. Despite this, I still enjoyed my experience overall. I recommend trying this place if you are a fan of Cajun flavors.

Yelp
Boudin balls were delicious. Store was new and not fully stocked due to customer demand. They had no chicken sausage, deer sausage, and many other items. The chicken cracklings were average at best. The worst part of going there was after I paid for my items and started to walk out a cashier loudly asked me did I pay for my items. I told her yes and showed her my receipt. The store was full of customers and this was very embarrassing and will never patronize this business again! I am a regular customer in Scott La and will continue to be so.

Yelp
I'm so happy that this place finally open one in Texas and especially here!! I been going to Scott Louisiana for a long time just to get pepper jack. cheese boudin balls. So good!. Which is hard to find in Houston! I also love to smoke boudin as well.

Yelp
Purchased a box of frozen Original Boudain, steamed it & ate some with French bread for lunch . One of the best we've eaten over the decades. Delicious pork flavor - more meat than rice . Will definitely be back for more!

Yelp
Service was great. The Boudin and Cracklins's, chicken stuffed with crawfish etouffee. Is all to die for. for. Look around and you think you're in Scott Louisiana. Except not to drive home. I'll be back soon.

Yelp
The boudin is just like Scott and allows me to have a taste of home for a 15 minute drive...instead of 4 hours. Welcome to the neighborhood!!!

Yelp
We are from Louisiana and very much miss The best stop in Scott. It was wonderful to have the same food here in the Houston area. The long lines were unorganized but we got through them in one hour wait. The food was worth the wait! We brought home : hot sausage Poboy, boudin, crab burger, onion rings, French fries, crackling and a boudin egg roll. All was fresh and tasty! We will make this a regular stop. Thank you for bringing a small bit of home to all the coonasses stuck here!
