A fantastic collection of beer to choose from on the shelves and in the coolers, including twelve drafts on tap. I enjoyed a flavorful vanilla bean mead as well. The staff was terrific, friendly and attentive. I will definitely come back.

The Bier and Cheese Collective was a welcoming atmosphere, and perfect for lunch! We sat outside in the back where they had a small picnic area. Definitely try the pretzel, it was super tasty and not too salty! As for the drinks, we loved the guava cider, it was just sweet enough to appeal to non-cider drinkers, as well as cider lovers.

Astoria offers a great spot for high-quality beer, complemented by incredible cheese and bread options. My group of four ordered a large charcuterie board, which was beautifully presented but modest in portion size for the $21 price tag. I also tried the “Figgy Piggy” sandwich, which was flavorful and satisfying, priced at $14 and served promptly after payment. One concern I’d like to raise is the $2 uncanning fee for consuming drinks on-site. While I understand operational costs like rent, it was unexpected and contributed to a total of $41 for a sandwich, two beers, and tips, which felt excessive. That said, the overall vibe and quality make this a place I’d return to, but clearer pricing details or a more transparent policy on additional fees would enhance the experience.

Great vibe! It was music trivia night. Very welcoming bartenders. We chose LOCAL and went with a NYC Harlem Renaissance Wit pint. It is beyond expectations. The food menu has many options that look very appetizing. I'd come back to try the Roast Pork Banh Mi. There are also many items that you can purchase within, and you should definitely try the truffle sea salt.

Wonderful cheese collection with so many bites and hot grilled sandwiches. On top of that the service is superb!!! Best best customer experience ever. They were so accommodating and friendly. I would recommend everyone to enjoy their beer with a bite of cheese.

They have a lunch special that's not special at all. Small sandwich that has little substance to it. They don't date their cans (and neither do the breweries anymore, so you have no idea if that IPA you want in a can is fresh or been sitting there 3+ months). They charge extra if you buy a can/bottle from the fridge and drink it there. I think that's pretty ridiculous, just charge us for the beer and if you expect a tip, don't charge me to crack open a can myself.

Firstly, I'm glad they are around. Legitimate neighbourhood business founded on quality. The atmosphere is good and the staff helpful, and the beers of course are tasteful and various. That being said, I don't find myself coming often because, though I want to, there is usually at least one vegan in my group and their menu does not do much to accommodate. Secondly, I appreciate their stocked table and pantry goods. It's nice to pick up something on a whim. However, their markup on these goods is eye-watering. Sometimes 70-100% more than the average cost of the same items elsewhere. If they addressed these two shortcomings I'd likely be back in here more often.

Lovely artisanal cheese on Ditmars in Astoria. They have a wide selection of soft and hard cheese. Each is labeled in the case with origin, price, and helpful tasting notes. They also sell craft beer in cans, bottles, and on draft. In addition, you can purchase other sauces and accoutrements for any charcuterie plate. The real standout of this location is it's sandwich menu. The Kurt Brussels is not to be missed! Super chill outdoor backyard seating available if you arrive early, but they also have some tables out in front of the store.

Super cool place and if you're easy going you'll feel right at home wherever you come from (we're visiting from the bay area of california). It has kind of a coffee shop vibe but with great beer & food plus the staff is super friendly. Various seating is available inside but be sure to check the nice patio out back. They have beer on tap and they also have coolers with a good selection (and organized by type too, YAY!) Shelves with more beers after the coolers & even a sale section back in the corner. They do serve wine by the glass but not by the bottle and thats okay. I believe i saw a corkage fee if you want to bring your own bottle of wine but verify before you take one. Great chill place that will make you feel right at home instantly

Honestly, such a brilliant concept. Beer, wine, cider, and cheese all in one spot, plus a beautiful backyard to enjoy it in. Pretty much all of my favorite things in one place. Could I ask for anything more!? The staff were friendly and attentive. We ordered the Works Board which included a mix of cheeses, meats, and jams accompanied by bread. Everything was delicious. I had an amazing afternoon here and it might be one of my new favorite places. Cannot wait to return!

Came here for a nightcap! I had a red glass of wine and my boyfriend had a lager beer. The service was excellent, they were all super friendly. They have a lovely selection of beers and I love that they had wine for me. The back door leads to a lovely spot with party lights. We enjoyed our drinks back there while there are lots of table, it was fairly quiet that night. This was a recommendation from my sister and her husband that live in the area and say that place is always busy.

I'd been to the other location many times before it closed, but finally got the opportunity to try this one! As always, great selection of brews and the pretzel was SO GOOD. The beer cheese it was paired with was surprisingly sharp, but delicious. Service was friendly and efficient too.

Nice collection of craft beer and cider. Had the Cheese and meats plate which was delicious. The backyard is a perfect oasis in the city. Staff always friendly and knowledgeable to give recommendations.

I don't get to come here enough but every time I do I think to myself just how freaking wonderful this place is !! I Always get the bacon avocado BLT it's amazing one of the best I've ever had! Today I splurged and went for the Amy's homemade pumpkin donut -it was fresh and just the right amount of pumpkin flavor! Also purchased the peanut butter cups made in Brooklyn so not leave without trying these you'll thank me you did ! the pb is so cream it's insane !

They have ruined me because the sandwiches are so delicious I don't want to eat a sandwich anywhere else again. I don't even like beer, but thankfully their wine is also superb. And I'd give it 69 extra stars for the vibe - love the eclectic music choices of the awesome staff! If I go to one more place playing generic house to seem "trendy" or some bad bar mix I'll scream. Thankfully I can escape the mediocrity by coming here.

This is a millennials spot. Overpriced, small plates and not worth it but what do I know, I have only been eating out for over 40 years in NYC.

This place has the best sandwiches EVER! I am making my way down the menu, but I can say my top 2 are Are You a Fun-gi and the Kurt Brussels. The mushrooms in the former are marinated in balsamic vinegar, absolutely exquisite. The staff is super sweet too and they even have chess and trivia nights on weekdays so be sure to check those out as well. Truly a community gem, I always feel comfortable here!

A great neighborhood spot for a quick meal with a beer or to pick up something to eat at home. The sandwiches are a bit unusual with interesting flavor combinations. The beer selection is well curated and you may be able to taste one if you are unsure. The seating is comfortable and the service is helpful.

Despite the overwhelming beer selection: DELICIOUS! I'm used to deep-fried cheese curds, but cold were sooooo good especially with the bread. The Papa John was amazing. I'm a shill for good pesto tho. Couple tables and a bar top inside along with a patio in the back.

I came here for the first time after coming back to NYC, and I'm in love with their sandwiches here. The Sharp and Tart sandwich is absolutely amazing. It's a delicious, crisp baguette with cheddar, brie, green apples, and honey cup. I've always been curious to try apples with grilled cheese, and I'm so glad I did. Staff are very friendly, and it's a trendy location in a walkable neighborhood.

I and the bf dropped in here for a snack and a drink. The draw of this place is the extensive collection of beers but they have some wines too. They also have a great selection of cheeses (hence the name). Staff was very kind. This place is very casual and lowkey - perfect for dates and friend groups. We got a cheese platter with the Melkbus Truffle gouda, the Drunken goat, and the belletoile brie. The melkbus truffle Gouda was probably one of the best things I've ever tasted and I'm sad I didn't purchase some to take home with me. I'll be sure to do that next time I come.

Nope. This time was completely abysmal and this is coming from someone who has regulated places like Casellula, Beechers, and Murray's for 10+ years. I know my way around a cheese bar. I know what's standard. This was a total rip off and I'm even more upset that I've been told by the owner that I've given an unfair review.

I've been coming here for years and have always had a great experience here. They have a variety of beer on tap and yummy sandwiches. If you're a cheese lover get the truffle conundrum. That's my go to. My boyfriend got the Figgy Piggy which he enjoyed. I have also tried some of their other sandwiches and they did not disappoint! They also sell other items like condiments, meats & cheeses, beer to go etc. Staff is friendly and helpful. The place is small so it does get pretty packed on weekends or when they host an event. They also have a garden with seating in the back. The vibe is pretty chill and laid back, great for a date night or something causal.

Every neighborhood should have a Bier and Cheese Collective! The cheese board and the guava cider were excellent and well priced. The backyard patio is also delightful on a nice night. 10/10 neighborhood spot.

While not from the neighborhood, I've been making the trip to Astoria to visit here since it opened. Every time the food is amazing and beverage selection impeccable. I'm particularly drawn to their ciders on tap! The service is awesome with a knowledgable staff. Plus, the backyard courtyard is relaxing and the perfect place to enjoy the company of friends.

The Bier and Cheese Collective is a must to venture too on the Brunch Boulevard on Ditmars in Astoria. The beer offered here is always perfectly curated and the employees always help you to select a beer based on your taste. They always offer a sample to make sure , a very nice touch! I love the selection of sandwiches offers - many sweet and savory choices . My ultimate favorite is the Figgy Piggy - Creamy Taleggio, buttery Prosciutto, spicy Arugula and a touch of sweet fig jam. Tell me a better way to satisfy your palate!!! I also suggest the Hot Pretzel and House-made Bier Cheese, served with spicy dijon. You will notice a great selection of local goodies for purchase and an array of cheese to purchase to go as soon as you walk in . Again, the employees will help you decide what to purchase based on your liking. Such a nice touch. When. you eat here , the crew always makes you feel so welcome - like part of the community.

Just stopped by Saturday July 8th and picked up a bag full of items to make a charcuterie board at home. Absolutely do not miss the Florette Goat Brie cheese, Smoking Goose Capicola and Pheasant & Fig Pate/Terrine... simply amazing!

My friends who've lived in Astoria for years, have always raved about Astoria Bier and Cheese. They'd go there all the time for their outrageous beer variety and pretzels with cheese. Whenever they'd invite me, I was never really interested because I wasn't big into beer. Recently however, I've grown to enjoy porters and stouts, so was open to giving ABC a try! It's a super cool spot, with a dope beer garden in the back! Alongside their wide range of beer, they sell other products as well, like some interesting bitters flavors, some jams, hot sauce, etc.! My friends already told me what I needed to try, food-wise, but as far as beer, I wanted to take a look around. The one that jumped out at me and said, "pick me!", was this chocolate peanut butter porter! My friends have both tried it, and said that I'd love it! I went with that, and it did not disappoint! It was super dark and rich, with the right amount of chocolate peanut butter notes! It wasn't overdone at all. It's definitely more in line of a "dessert beer". I wouldn't drink more than one, so the one I do get, I cherish it, and drink it slow, to enjoy all it's deep richness lol. For food, I was strictly instructed to order the hot pretzel with their house made bier cheese......and chile.....I understand why. First off, this pretzel was perfect. Nice and warm and soft, topped with beautiful, flakey salt. It was honestly one of the better pretzels I've ever eaten. But to top it off, folks, was a side of this house made bier cheese. It was creamy, yet chunky. Rich, yet mild, you know what I mean?! Girl, it was everything I needed it to be! This bier cheese is addictive! As I was eating it with the pretzel, I was imagining how I could use it in other recipes. Seriously, it is more than impressive and I finally got to see why my friends love it there! I'm glad I got over my beer phobia, and finally found some that I enjoy lol. Seriously, give this place a try. I bet it's even more lit in the summer. Its one of those venues you can stay at all night, eating and drinking!

Loved this spot! Their beers on tap are always changing and you can also buy one of their refrigerated cans/bottles to take home or drink in-house. The prices are really good, I'm talking $6-8 beers, and they're all craft! As for the food, it's also really good. I had the kale n sprouts salad with added bacon (it was massive chunks of bacon instead of bacon bits) and it was excellent, the Ploughman's lunch plate was slightly disappointing, get a bigger selection of cheeses instead, the cuban grilled cheese was good, and the favorite was the corner pub grilled cheese. The food is pretty cheap too and portions are small so you can sample a lot of things. It's not a sit-down restaurant, you have to order at the bar, so seating is on a first-come-first-served basis, and they bring the food out to you.

Always a great place to visit when I'm in Astoria. I came with a friend and we weren't sure what to expect during covid. Also, this was my first time coming with more intense food sensitivities... being sensitive to alcohol, dairy, gluten, processed meats, and preservatives... really made this seem like a risky choice. But! I ordered the kale salad (next time I will ask for no dairy or less cheesy goodness, seems easy to accommodate.) and i'm lucky that goat cheese is easy on my body so the goat cheese sweet hot pepper poppers are faaaantabulous. And there is a SOLID selection of gluten free ciders. Many of the ciders have a sweet to dry indicator on the can which really helps for people who are also sensitive to too much sugar. Uhgs. Eating is hard for people like me! But we can make it happen. i highly recommend the citizen tulsi basil dry cider. The covid precautions for this dining experience are intense and very much appreciated. I love when business go above and beyond to protect their workers. There are plastic sheets hanging everywhere. And the outdoor garden offers a quote and safe dining experience.

I came in to grab a "Toogoodtogo" bag and the guy first said "you're here for too good to go?" I said "Yes thanks!" And then he responded "You look like one!" I dont know what that means, but I asked him and he didn't respond. Instead he gave me a baguette, a packaged cookie and a juice that was opened and busted all over their table. When I told them it was busted and he saw it spilling all over the table, he asked me as if I still wanted it-- as if I'm ignorant of food safety, hospitality and customer service. He didn't offer a substitute and I walked out thinking I will never come here or bring anyone I know here. Ps I'm a human not a rat. Thanks so much for treating me like a second class citizen. Never give anything to a customer that is opened and spilling all over your own tables. Also when you give a customer a product that is clearly faulty you offer a substitute not blank stares.

I go for the sandwiches, which are very good, if a bit pricey. Nice, casual atmosphere with a back garden. Only wish was they have more a a side selection to go with the sandwiches in terms of chips or something. Also a few more selections of non-alcoholic that isn't carbonated and sugary. I usually just get to go and buy the rest elsewhere.

This was a really cool experience! Usually you hear about wine and cheese, but beer and cheese?! Not so much. My partner and I came here and tried out the beer and cheese pairing plate, where we got to try 4 different yummy cheeses with 4 different beers and yummy fig-based palette cleansers (I think) in between. We didn't know what to order at first, but our server was really helpful and patient with us, which I appreciated. Im not typically a beer girly, but I enjoyed it. A super chill and casual spot, we'd def come back!

Neighborhood spot, I used to hesitate going because I wasn't a beer person but I decided to check it out and wow! I now enjoy sour beers and well of course I forgot bout ciders, lol During the summer I would go there to get cold cuts and cheese to bring to Astoria Park to have picnics or to eat at home, the customer service there is knowledgeable and patient which I appreciate very much. When I think about beer and where I'd want to hang out and drink it, Bier and Cheese is the perfect example. Their beer selection is top notch, the people here are knowledgeable about beer and cheese, and no one is particularly pretentious. They are great about advice and letting you taste the many diverse beers on tap. They aren't a ton of food options, but there's certainly something for everyone, including non-cheese options. I definitely suggest the banh mi. It was the most gourmet banh mi ever! My mouth is watering just writing this review!

It always smells strongly of cheese - like when they melt it for sandwiches but not in a good way. It's too much and almost smells bad and they need to work on better ventilation. The service is a problem for me and why I can't give them more stars. I consistently get weird service here. 1 time the server was clearly sick It can be slow - they don't seem to have enough servers for when it's busy And more than 1x the servers/employees have been rude This last visit the cheese monger guy was incredibly rude. I asked help w vegetarian cheeses and had to explain what didn't make a cheese vegetarian (rennet). Please label your cheeses vegetarian and then I won't bother you. Then got an earful on why you'd be vegetarian and care about that. Then he didn't look up the cheeses I asked about. Finally I found 1 and he gave me a lecture on not eating it there. And something about how they pay their Rent? Idk. I just spent $15 on cheese. Why can't I eat it there? But ok - just ask me 1x.

Impressive selection of beers both on tap and in bottles combined with a wide selection of cheese that makes this place perfect to relax. I tried the pretzel with a cheese spread & mustard, and enjoyed it very much. The employees here are always super helpful & able to recommend a few beers. Growler prices are amazing & reasonable. This place is perfect for beer lovers. It's quiet as well, you can come here and do some work in piece & quite at your own leisure while enjoying a few beers. Great rotating taps at a reasonable price served by a warm and friendly staff. Great and unique sandwiches and different food items. Happy hour with a dollar off all drafts Monday-Thursday 3-7. Incredible selection of bottles and cans. And also there is cheese. Love this place. Very cool place to hang with friends. Unbetable beer selection, friendly staff, and inviting atmosphere. I guiltily still love the Astoria Bier and Cheese shops after having a a bad experience at one of them once. But it was the Broadway location. I could have sworn I wrote a review for this one already because I think I've been here at least half a dozen times. But yes, always a huge selection of beers in the fridge and a good selection of a few rare brews on tap. Be mindful of their $2 corking fee on bottles. Another thing - really depends I guess on the store's mood but they either have price tags on the bottles or do not half of the time. When I went in last night for a beer before an event they were not on the bottles and had to be more decisive with what I would 'assume' would be affordable instead of actually picking a beer I really would want to try. But also asked in advance before they popped it open how much it was. Wish they would remedy this situation more consistently so it would be an easier experience with selecting a beverage. Their cheese curds, pickle platters, etc. are always great. Never tried a sandwich here but I'm banking on it being great with the large amount of delicious cheeses. I like this spot also because it has a really nice backyard area to drink in.

A unique place with tons of craft beer and great cheese in addition to a bunch of other food options. It has a community feel where the employees will recognize and get to know you! A ton of inventive sandwich options to go with endless beer choices.

Stopped in for lunch and a few drinks last weekend before attending Governor's Ball right over the RFK bridge from here. It was our first time visiting, and we really loved the laid-back and ultra-casual atmosphere. Up front, you've got a small café and bar area with plenty of ever-rotating taps behind the counter. Along the left wall, you'll see the food goods they have on sale followed by refrigerators filled with an endless variety of craft beer bottles. Walk out the door to the back, and you'll find their charming outdoor patio. Food was exceptional all around~! Our meat and cheese plate was a nice segue into the real reason we fell in love with Astoria Bier and Cheese: THEIR GRILLED CHEESES. The Figgy Piggy had the perfect blend of sweet and savory, balancing prociutto and fig jam with a mild taleggio. While the Pretzelwich combines ham, brie, and mustard for a stronger and more in-your-face bite. 5 stars deserved, I'd be a regular if I lived in the neighborhood.

Great beer selection. They have a dozen beers on draft with all craft and a handful of local options. They have four refrigerators filled with bottled and canned beers plus several shelves filled with bottled and canned beers. Lots of interesting options on the shelves too. My fiancée order a grilled cheese sandwich with some truffle mixed in. The drizzled some honey on top and plated it with pecans. It's was delicious!

The reason for the 3 star rating right off the bat, is that by accident I set the GPS to the wrong location, as one is on Broadway and second is on Ditmars Blvd. Not realizing the difference as the name matches the Queens Beer book voucher. When my friend and I arrived to the Broadway location we asked if we could redeem our beers and all we got was attitude from the waitress. The vibe was negative and instead of her just mentioning that there is a second location, it felt like I was getting kicked out and shunned for simply asking a question. Instead of this woman being so unwelcoming, she could have told us we were at the wrong location and told us to stay and have a beer at this location. She could have been a little nicer. We arrived at the second location (Ditmars) within minutes, as it's was just over a mile away. It held the same feel and décor as the other place. The menu of beers on tap is written a white tile backsplash, but beers were different at both locations. As we already ate before, I browsed the menu and would come back for the meat plate or the Ditmars Mac which is a mix of three cheese. Huge variety of meats, some as expensive as over $30 a pound! They also have a Bier and cheese pairing plate which sounds like a great option. Would recommend the Ditmars location based on the quick mistake and encounter at the Broadway location. Definitely not the regular sit down for a beer and wings with a game on, instead more chill for a sit down and a good conversation and a tasting of something new. Will have to come back to experience the plates and slates. Also both locations offer catering. Both locations offer huge selections of beer in bottles as well as shown in the picture. Even as a dude I would prefer to have wine instead with the meats and cheeses but that isn't offered.

I have got to say I am really dissatisfied with these guys. I paid 22$ for the "large" meat and cheese plate. It should have been called the meh?...oh and cheese plate. 8 very small slices of meat. It's like they disrespect the animal. Two paper thin slices of cheese. Two pieces of cheese the size of a newborn's finger. 4 plastic souffle cups. Some Membrillo, 3 miniature cornichons, mustard and fig walnut cake. All normal, except mustard is not normal. To top it off, I get a baguette, in 17 slices. They obviously assume I have more cheese and cured meats hanging around.

We stumbled upon this little gem while waiting for our dinner reservations and were quite pleased! Great beer choices both on tap and canned as well as selection of meats and cheeses. I especially enjoy a good cider- was able to try one with ginger and then with basil. Both of them were crisp, refreshing and delicious! Just enough seating space to fit the crowd and great friendly neighborhood vibe. It was a perfect start to a great night.

Fun neighborhood spot to grab some beers and eats. Local beers on tap and small but awesome bar food type menu. Sandwiches, grilled cheeses, cheese/meat plates. They have specials like a beer and bratwurst (cooked right on the grill in the backyard patio). Cool outdoor seating area or small bar inside and a few tables too. My fav is making my own 6 pack--mix and match bottles, pick your own 6 beers from the fridge. And buying some specialty cheeses and meats (salami, prosciutto, bacon) to go. I've made some unique homemade pizzas using their cheese and sausage. Staff is happy to help and make recommendations. FYI: expanding their service, now serving weekend brunch.

Cute place for beers and apps! Sandwiches are also very tasty! They have a really nice backyard area at both locations and is great for the spring/summer.

Every time I'm in Astoria (which is often) I stop at this place and have a tendency to drop $50+ because of all the great finds. Wonderful, large, alternating selection on ciders (my favorite) and brews, along with great snacks and a super friendly, helpful staff. Definitely worth a stop in. You won't regret it!

I've come to the conclusion that The food and drinks here are holy and this place is my church. This is my go to place . Need a drink? ABC. Need some food ? ABC. Want a snack with a good vibe and a nice outdoor patio? Yes ABC! I LOVE THIS PLACE. I have never had anything I didn't like here. Like ever. I'm making my way through trying everything in their food menu. I have some favorites of course. First of all $4 cheese curds ? What? I never knew I needed cheese curds until I found out they were $4. Now all I need is cheese curds. I'm going to turn into a cheese curd. Die a cheese curd. But hey , I cant think of a better thing.......Except...... Tuesday beer and cheese pairings . Often they have Beer and Cheese pairings where they invite a craft brewery to do a tasting and they pair it with cheese. All for free ! I could go in all day about this place. So why don't you just come and try it !

Best sandwiches in astoria. Every ingredient they use is simply the highest quality. From the bread to the meats and obviously the cheese. Unbelievable lunch deal. The beers on tap and in the bottle are excellent.

I met friends here last night for a couple of rounds of beer and shared eats, and Astoria Bier and Cheese was as good as it gets! With ever-rotating taps and tasty fare, along with a cute backyard patio, how could it get any better? I definitely plan to return.

Beer and Cheese! I repeat, beer and cheese! They have an awesome beer selection and the food is outrageous. Get there and sit outside, it's such a cool setting. They have a fruiting persimmon tree. Catch one if you can!

Here's why Astoria Bier and Cheese deserves my elusive five star rating. It's unique. A simple idea to provide beer and cheese isn't it?  How about providing us with tastes and sips from all over the world. I would argue it's hard to find such quality and selection this vast, even in Manhattan. Definitely not boring. ABC keeps me coming back with new seasonal and regional selections of both beer and cheese. High value. You get more than what you pay for here. I don't think a lot of people recognize the legnth one must go to procure the arrangements they carry.  Special feeling. The owner introduced himself to me and I regularly see him behind the counter. The cheese mongers and beer aficionados can answer just about any question you throw at them. And if they can't...well, they'll pull out a beer bible or cheese atlas and tell you. Most importantly. They have incredibly tasty sandwiches along side great customer service. Time after time they hit the mark with sweet & savory and crunchy outside & soft inside. To name a few YES!'s Truffle gouda and pear with bacon. Ditmars Bánh mì And the Mr. Crispy All garnished with a relished pepper. Mmm I can barely take a picture of my food without diving in. Other times I will sit there with my nose in it until I'm drooling. The food It would be absurd to call my life anything short of amaze-balls knowing I can eat here while I do laundry. Bonus points for having a nice layout architecturally. The only hit this place really takes is for having incandescent lighting.

This is the type of place I'd want to live in Queens for. If you want some tasty snacks or light fare paired with excellent beer, this place is superb. I'd been looking for Carton Brewing's Epitome, and Imperial Black Ale (aka an Imperial Black IPA aka an Imperial Cascadian Dark Ale) and after visiting half of the bars and beer stores in Northern New Jersey and in Manhattan and the Bronx, it was finally here that I found this excellent brew. A couple Other Half brews were also on tap (Southernhopalistic being one) so the moral of the story is there are good brews with local breweries well-represented. What put this place really over the top though were the snacks. My friend had a grilled cheese with triple cream, bacon and maple syrup drizzled over it and it was forever imprinted on my brain, palate and stomach for its wealth of flavors, crunchiness, and creaminess. It's really a superb concoction. For me there was what I thought would be a lighter snack, some crostini with wild goat cheese, avocado and spice, but this was more filling than I'd expected (no complaints). As with the grilled cheese, the texture, taste, and combination of flavors was simply exceptional. The dishes here are the type I'd like to eat once a day. I was also impressed by the friendly guy serving us, who also runs the place and knows his cheeses and charcuterie well and isn't a jerk when discussing them. There's a pretty solid selection of cans and bottles of beer here, which would be trouble for me, since I'd come in here under the pretense of buying some beer to go, only to sit for a beer and some snacks. Basically, bye-bye, money. Overall, as the name suggests, a great place for beer-lovers, cheese-lovers, or lovers of both.

This is a good place to hang out while indulging in a variety of cheese and beer. It's smaller than I imagined though. Their beer and cheese menu is scrawled on the walls and chalkboard and it is a bit confusing, but the guys/gal behind the counter are more than willing to explain everything clearly and make recommendations that fit your palate. Personally I was excited for the cheese plate, but the portions were a bit smaller than I hoped. But for the price, I guess it was to be expected. I also got the truffle gouda and pear grilled cheese. The portion was again on the smaller side, but it was tasty nonetheless. I would come back to try more of their menu. 3.5 stars.

Love Astoria Bier and Cheese.The beer selection is phenomenal. They often have beer and cheese tastings in their back patio, advertised very well if you live in the area. I often forget how good the food is because the beer selection is so distracting :P Last night my date and I ordered a cheese plate and two sandwiches. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The Mr Crispy is a must. I've never had anything like it. It has a rosemary ham, Gruyere cheese that stretches between your mouth and the sandwich like a commercial, and is melted beautifully between a sweetened oatmeal toast. Deliciousness. Also, the Astoria Ban Mi made for a fantastic interpretation of Japanese pork bun. The pork belly is cooked perfectly, complimented with cilantro and carrots, a thin layer of mayonnaise, on an all American hero style bun. Equally delish. This place is great for small groups or a date. I've been here a number of times and will definitely be back to enjoy an cold beer in their back patio or to fill up my growler to go! Two thumbs way up.
