The 10 Best Breweries In Nashville - Nashville - The Infatuation

"For a long time, Berry Hill didn’t really have a place for people living in the neighborhood to hang out and drink. That changed when Black Abbey Brewery opened a tap room. Nearly 90% of their space is allocated for production and the entire building is open. That means you’ll get plenty of hoppy smells and the sounds of forklifts and clanging metal mixed with clinking pint glasses in their monastery-style taproom. It’s all charming as hell. Try their signature beer, a Belgian blonde ale called The Rose, and make sure you also sip the extremely crushable pub-style ale called—pause for dramatic effect—Pub Ale." - adam sloan

We visited The Black Abbey Brewing Company today for the first time and had such a great experience! We brought our pup with us and sat on their patio. The staff went above and beyond to help make us (and our pup!) comfortable. It was a little cold today so they lit the heaters outside and brought our dog a bowl of water. We ordered the pretzel and really enjoyed the pub ale! The staff members were super friendly and attentive. There was a great selection of beer on draft, and the building and patio were very clean. Thanks, Black Abbey Brewing Company, for making our first visit here such a great one. Looking forward to visiting here again soon!

Okay, this place is pretty frickin fantastic! Quaint little patio, but a packed inner sanctum where the bards would sing, the monks would chant, and you and I would imbibe with an amazingly blessed brew. One hundred percent a spectacular time with records playin, semi comunity seating and beers so good you cant help but join the conversation at the tables. Hang out, but watch out, these brew pack a punch. Staff is warm and welcoming, know their craft, and won't lead you astray. If you are a fan of ESBs, the Pub Brew is one of the best I've had. Enjoy!

Out of town visit. Free beer tasters!!! Great idea. The place was full with no seating inside and out on a Monday. I loved the Pub Ale and old school lager. Both great. Well worth a visit! Thank you

Great Beer! Cool place! Location not the best but safe....

This brewery has a nice variety of styles of beer. Their Dark Lager tasted excellent. You can get flights of varying sizes up to 8. The bartender was very friendly, patient, and helpful in helping me choose beers.

Google
A local Nashville brewery that specializes in Belgian style beer. The evening that I visited, they were having a special event which involved pairing Girl Scout cookies with certain beers. Not for me, but it certainly brought in a crowd. The taproom is nice and looks much more inviting than it did when it first opened years ago. If I could give the taproom five stars all to itself, I would. The beer is good beer flavored beer. It deserves a 3.5 stars, but I can’t rate just the beer either. My low review score is due mainly to my customer service experience at this brewery. I have NEVER been to a brewery anywhere and received unfriendly service, but I guess there’s a first time for everything. I was greeted with a scowl and then received an eye roll when I asked about one of their new brews. No smiles, no friendly beer recommendations, not a ‘thank you’, not an inkling of good cheer. And I wasn’t the only one getting poor service. I watched this happen to everyone else that went up to the bar to order. Black Abbey folks - if you’re reading this, please do a better job of making your customers feel welcome. My other reason for the low score was due to the fact that the bar tenders were pre-pouring flights and pitchers of beer, which sat on the bar for long stretches of time. Pour my beer fresh, or don’t pour it at all. A pint of craft beer is too important and expensive to serve it any other way.

Edit: This was stop 2 on the "my BIL and Jen are in town and we plan to eat and drink for three days" tour. Consistently great beers, solid staff that treats you well and always good food trucks. I'll go back over and over. 8/17/23 This was stop 6 on the “my BIL is in town and we’re planning on punishing our naughty livers” tour. I love Black Abbey Beers! Been wanting to stop here for a while but waited until family was in town. Here’s the breakdown: Small, cozy taproom +1 star; amazing beers +2 stars; the coolest Star Wars poster +1 star; sharing amazing beers with family +1 star.

Google
This is a nice place with excellent service. They have a nice selection of styles to choose from. I personally did not like their beer, but other people seemed to, so maybe just not my style. 2.5

Yelp
Beer was great. Staff was friendly. It was raining really hard so water was coming through the doors. It was a good experience overall and I'd go back. Would love to see more food options on the menu and maybe some sours.

Yelp
I got to stop by here for Silent Book Club and hang out. The staff was really friendly and the beer was delicious. There is indoor and outdoor patio seating so you can bring your furry friend and sit outside. There is a parking area behind the building. I recommend trying their pretzel bites as well. A really chill place to grab a drink and hang with friends. They also have games inside for you as well.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and great service! All the employees were welcoming and sweet. I tested out the beer brat and had a taste of the five points IPA. The brat was delicious and the IPA came close behind. Can't wait to make it back!

Yelp
Let me begin that I like beer but had never visited before. I was invited last minute to attend the Beer & Hymns Christmas event '24 and boy am I glad I accepted! This was truly a special event. I have lived in the UK where the pub environ is a family oriented situation I fell in love with the feel of the place! I loved the family styled seating and the beer was fantastic. (see pics) The music was sublime and the video wall with all the words to those classic Christmas songs was needed and readable! Thank you. I look forward to next year's event already. I hear that these events grew too large to house at the brewery in previous years and was moved to larger venues. I am not sure I would have been so impressed if this had been a much more commercial or crowded affair. I don't think there were 100 ppl there and it was perfect. I drank a variety of beers and they were all so good! Starting with their flagship The Rose and moved on to darker meatier and boy was I impressed with the drinkability of each. I ended with the "GoldenAle w/gin chaser" option and was I glad I did. What a taste! I will be looking for that gin for purchase (Monk's something or other) I'll be back with my beer drinking crew during the year and can't wait until the next holiday season! Cheers to Carl and the gang - Job well done!

Yelp
Very nice spot. I came for the food truck, but left drinking me a brew, which I don't usually do. It was good as well!

Yelp
Always a great atmosphere and beer selection here! The wall of games that are free to play make it a great spot to hang out, grab some drinks, and enjoy a nice day whether inside or outside. Also check out their weekly food trucks, which are always amazing! The staff are always happy to give personal recommendations, and never make you feel rushed for not knowing what you want right off the bat.

Yelp
Black Abbey make a variety of great, tasty beers. A good mixture--IPAs, high-gravity, sours, ports, even ciders. The staff are friendly and the prices are fair. The seating inside is moderate and there are some outdoor tables as well. The only knock against them in any way, as far as I can tell, is super limited food options as there's not really anything here to nosh on. Add a limited bar menu of snacks and this would be a perfect happy hour spot. That said, if you want good beer they have plenty of it and you can do the usual thing and get a growler to go if you like. I didn't see much in the way of a bottle shop, but it's possible I overlooked can/bottle takeout options.

Ron S.

Yelp
First time here, and the two beers selected were outstanding!!! For sure a new spot to hang out in Nashville

Yelp
Black Abbey is a brewery in a city of great breweries and after my initial visit, I found it to be a fine brewery that had a good Belgian blonde ale and a place I will return to to sample another beer or two. The bartenders were very friendly and knowledgeable of the beer and the vibe of the place was very chill. You order a beer from the small bar and find a seat at one of several long tables in the tap room. Though the tap room is somewhat small, they make it work.

Yelp
Black Abbey Brewing in the Berry Hill area of South Nashville is a cool little neighborhood hang and brewery. They have picnic tables outside then additional picnic tables inside and a small bar area where customers can order. It has a very masculine/dude vibe in here but I'm not complaining. I've been a few times and tried a few different beers and nothing has really stuck with me or made me excited to try again. I usually love blondes/pales but their Rose didn't hit the right mark. I will say that I do appreciate that everything seems safe and in COVID-times all the tables are far enough away from others where I feel comfortable going here. If you catch it at the right time you can even grab some food from a food truck that parks outside as well.

Yelp
What a fun place! Our group of eight took over one of the large tables (eventually, after a couple at one end left shortly after we arrived), and we had a great time socializing and trying some of the brews. So many places are way over-heavy on IPAs, which are not my favorites, so I was delighted to find a great selection of things other than IPAs. I settled on I settled on a Jameson barrel-aged brown beer, and loved it. It seems like we had about three rounds, and between us tried about eight different beers out of about 16 available that night. Ordering was quick and easy -- I just memorized everyone's choices, then took the sheet up with me to the counter to make sure I got it right each time. A couple in the group tried one of the cask selections, and said it was really good. I had a couple sips, and I agreed. There was a barbecue food truck parked outside, and since it was going to be a couple hours until we had dinner, we split a rack of ribs between all of us, and they were wonderful. A fun moment was when I'd gone out to the food truck, and just as I was returning it started to pour. I stook under the food truck's somewhat drippy tent until the rain let up a little, then quickly bolted the few feet back into the building, and the staff applauded the fact that my carefully styled short haircut was still perfectly on point by the time I got inside! (I told them it would stay this way as long as I didn't touch it until it dried -- otherwise I'd be, pun intended, hosed!) I absolutely loved it here. We'll definitely be back! It's a great place to either hang out before going to dinner, or spending some time in between meals or later in the evening. Really, it's just a great place to hang out any time they're open!

Yelp
We came here for the first time a week ago and it was a fun experience overall. They have plenty of seating inside and outside and we came on a Sunday, so they had an amazing food truck present called Southern Spoon. The food truck is there most Sundays and it's worth the visit just for the food truck (beef Wellington sandwich and chicken and waffles, 'nuff said). We got a flight of tasters and they were pretty good overall (some better than others); it's not the best beer in Nashville, but we enjoyed our flight. The staff are very, very nice and it made for a very nice atmosphere overall. We'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Rachel G.

Yelp
Fantastic Spot! Lots of Tables and standing room. Clean restrooms. Amazing Taproom- Beautiful and unique. Fun atmosphere. Yummy Snack options! Love the flight options! Lots of Parking and easy to find!

Melissa H.

Yelp
Decor very cool Nice outdoor area Flights are ala carte which was nice Beers were ok Nice food truck options
google avatar

Dave R.

Yelp
As far as food, they usually have one of the better food trucks in the Nashville area outside. It rotates but is always great. The taproom has a comfy vibe with games, books and other things to do to chill out while enjoying their great beers on tap. And the beers are just great.

Yelp
Finally got to check this place out after a couple of tries and they were closed. I met up with a friend there for their Beer and Cookies event on a Saturday right as they opened. It's a small space inside with a few picnic-style tables and a few bar top tables (no chairs). They had a bbq food truck in hand and roped off outdoor seating since it was a nicer day. Parking is tricky and limited here, even without a popular event going on at the brewery, but you can park around back or nearby (if businesses are closed). I have long been a fan of their 440 porter, but I went with the flight for this event paired with some badge wearing female cookies that are popular in February. Two were created especially for the pairing event. I definitely was not a fan of the pineapple IPA but I'm not a fan of IPAs in general. I'd like to get back over there when it wasn't a popular event going on because it seems really chill and relaxed there with good music playing and the bartenders seemed rushed with the crowd. It's tucked away off of Thompson Lane so definitely one of the few outside of East/Downtown that's worth checking out.
google avatar

Tonica M.

Yelp
Cute little brewery. Good Beer and staff were pleasant. Table games and books available...a nice touch.
google avatar

Nichole H.

Yelp
First time checking out this brewery. This place has great beers and cider available. We also got the cheese plater. Cool, cute vibe and great service. Love how they don't have TVs or crowded, just light music for good convo with friends. Great covid precautions and indoor/outdoor seating! Definitely coming back!

Yelp
We've been wanting to check out Black Abbey for a while since it's the closest brewery to our home. We stopped by on the Saturday of MDW and there was a "yacht rock" event going on -- there was a DJ, baby pools and decor, a food truck, and lots of captain's hats and Hawaiian shirts. It was pretty full inside and surprisingly so outside considering it was quite chilly for the date (and especially so for kiddie pools). We tried a few of the beers over the course of a couple rounds, including the Nice Nice Very Nice Ambrosia IPA -- my favorite, the blonde, the blueberry, and a coconutty porter. I also really enjoyed the porter. We were able to get half pours -- a better deal than a flight. They have some beer hall type tables inside, and while it's small in there, it's a good cozy vibe with Abbey like decor. We enjoyed ourselves and the beer and will definitely be back... especially if the weather is better for sitting outside!
google avatar

Brad H.

Yelp
Friendly staff, great beer, easy parking (including street) and rotating food trucks. This business gives back a lot to the community as well which is always a plus. Great venue.
google avatar

Kathy S.

Yelp
My go to brew at Black Abbey has long been The 44, a smooth and creamy dark beer, originally and aptly named POTUS 44. We sat, safely distanced on a warm winter day, on the "patio," and even the truck traffic couldn't ruin our delightful afternoon!
google avatar

Jessica F.

Yelp
Solid brewery. Lots of games as well. They have a good selection of beers but nothing super of out the box if that's your thing. Recently expanded the patio so they now have 6 picnic tables. It's always a very chill crowd here, so if you're looking for a lively crowd this may not be it. No food here, but frequently have food trucks.
google avatar

Kristen F.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, following all Covid guidelines. There is a mug club here! We saw people using this quite a bit while here. I just wasn't a huge fan of the beer. Just your typical kinds of beers, just compared to what I had during the day, wasn't highly impressed.
google avatar

Yuting H.

Yelp
Very neat place. I got a cask ale and it was very tasty. It's a bit out of the way but worth the drive. Staff are very nice and keep the place clean.
google avatar

Kevin K.

Yelp
Yummy beer, interesting tasting space, friendly bar staff, reasonable prices = great place to try some good locally brewed beer. Basically a warehouse with brewing equipment and some picnic tables to taste the beer they brew. Good variety of beer including low hop and high hop (IPA). Several sampler options available to decide which beer you like. They have a couple of snack options, minimal food, not a restaurant. Go for the beer. Order at the bar/cashier and take it to your picnic table.

Yelp
Regaled By Christian Heresy & Micro-Brews! SITREP When you think about it, Micro-Brews have a long and venerable tradition of creating dissent and making waves that rock the foundations of ordered society. Whether like American Revolutionary Samuel Adams thumbing his nose at King George, or Martin Luther "mooning" the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church ("Amen!"), the micro-brew tradition has funded a lot of revolutionary causes. THE SETUP In this venerable tradition, The Black Abbey Brewing Company highlights that 2nd scenario of Martin Luther, and our tour guide at Black Abbey lost no time in sharing the story of how Martin Luther and a nun named Catherine, got married and proceeding to change the course of Christianity....with their microbrews. PHYSICAL PLANT Black Abbey has a great interior set-up, like an Inn of old with lots of comfortable tables strewn about to sit upon. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-black-abbey-brewing-company-nashville?select=ZvwPuBVLR3eVNmwC-RIXAw#wSWoGrE63HhDs3_Y4F29Og And well in view is all the brewing equipment, and the barrels of strong-scented ales, deeply engorging the atmosphere with the delicious smell of yeasts and hops hard at work. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-black-abbey-brewing-company-nashville?select=ZvwPuBVLR3eVNmwC-RIXAw#tklQrOc_77AjgiK_FdDlxQ SWAG! If you want to buy a shirt, they have LOTS to choose from! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-black-abbey-brewing-company-nashville?select=ZvwPuBVLR3eVNmwC-RIXAw#sMbCmPzCFRxnOvy2m34YAA BLACK ABBEY ALES Black Abbey specializes in some refreshing diversity: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-black-abbey-brewing-company-nashville?select=ZvwPuBVLR3eVNmwC-RIXAw#YowVttklDATeNyrPW6KggA * THE CHAMPION This is one of the great pale ales that Black Abbey has re-created from the Lutheran tradition and I found it outstanding in flavor, truly reflective of an American stock ale, with smoked malt. * THE ROSE This is a Belgian-style blonde ale with wheat malt and very refreshing. * THE SPECIAL This is a traditional monastic Belgian-style mild ale with floral notes, and something you would pair with a hearty bread and rich cheeses. * BROTHER MAYNARD This is a wondrously delicious & humorous "tip of the hat" to the clerical character in Monty Python's Holy Grail, and is best described by our tour guide and Black Abbey as: "From the caves of Caerbannog to the frozen lands of Nador there is much rejoicing! Brother Maynard comes to blow thy enemies to tiny bits, in Thy mercy. Five hops and five (three, sir!) three malts taunt your palate until you run away. Pairs well with lambs, and sloths, and carp, and anchovies, and orangutans, and breakfast cereals, and fruit bats, and large... Skip a bit, brother....6.1% ABV." http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-black-abbey-brewing-company-nashville?select=ZvwPuBVLR3eVNmwC-RIXAw#ji-SOSsSSLY1tsMAc3o3LA *Dies laughing!* And I couldn't have asked for a better finish to our tour! THE LOWDOWN A delicious romp through the middle ages of microbrewing - both real & fictional - and great stop in Nashville for some fun tasty brews!

Yelp
The black abbey brewing company is definitely a place to visit when in Nashville even though it kinda sots away from the city. During my visit I purchased a flight and they charge by the taster so each flight varies in price. However, during my visit the one thing I truly enjoyed other than the beer of course was the friendliness of the staff who ensured all patrons felt welcome, and they were evening willing to talk beer with me as I am a homebrew nerd haha. The one beer personally that stood out was the Belgian quad and ambrosia nice nice IPA both of which were fantastic beers. Black abbey is definitely a place to visit if you enjoy authentic Belgian beers, and if your a homebrew in the American homebrewers association they even offer a discount. Black abbey is definitely a place I will visit again when in Nashville.
google avatar

Yelp
The best brewery on my recent trip to Nashville , it was the last stop on the Nashville Brew Bus tour during Yelp Spring break 2014 and what a treat it was, everywhere I went in Nashville after visiting the brewery I had to have Black Abbey Beer. Their Belgian style beers are simply works of art, once you have a Black Abbey Beer you won't want another craft beer in Nashville, try them all you won't be disappointed.

Mindy T.

Yelp
Not a dog friendly brewery. It's a hot day and we have been to several outdoor areas of breweries. It's 88 degrees out but their asphalt patio in the parking lot is about 105 at least. Everywhere else we were ok in the shade, not here. We were most excited to try this place but they would not let us inside with our service dog. I am writing this from my AC'd car while my husband finishes his beer. So disappointed, this was on the top of my list for Nashville breweries.

Yelp
Great spot to hit on a random Sunday with my boy in town from Orlando and being gone for sometime we got to hit the local brew tour. The Black Abbey was our last stop on the tour (Uber) driven btw. We had the Black Abbey Rose which is clean and refreshing. The service can be a little slow as they seem to be overwhelmed when flytes are ordered and that was a little annoying. The menu is small but A for effort as you can always use a bite. We ordered the cheese plate which consisted of (Cracker Barrel) cheese and some salami with olives as well as Carrs Crackers. A for effort and the swag was awesome. Local I route for and would never give less then 4 stars for just getting it off he ground.Great place so make it part of your spot!!
google avatar

Timothy R.

Yelp
Overall we enjoyed our visit. The beers were pretty good. The seating is communal with benches. They were a little busy so it felt a little cramped. I think it would be better if it was warmer out and we could have sat outside. There was a food truck available if you're hungry which is nice.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
GREAT beers, but a lousy taproom and environment. So much missed opportunity to showcase their great selection. Better off just picking up the beer in a local mart and enjoying in a better setting.
google avatar

Andi C.

Yelp
Great brews at an exceptionally reasonable price. Board games for the tables and finger foods to share. No outside area but great inside seating
google avatar

Alexis B.

Yelp
Just had my first visit to the nearest brewery to our Crieve Hall home! And I'm so happy it's nearby! Tons of beers, games, food (pretzels and cheese plates), food truck outside. The brewery has great character - love the theme and the decor! A real brewery! They had several beers, and they offer a couple of flights (their traditional beers and their specialty/seasonal brews)! What's not to like? We met a few people here and had a great time! We'll definitely be back! (Only cons? It's a little on the small side - not too many tables!)
google avatar

Hye Eun C.

Yelp
Our professional association chose this spot to host our small opening reception and we had a great experience. Multiple beers on tap, an assortment of tasty appetizers and friendly staff made this a great venue. I had "the special" beer which they described as a sweet, not too hoppy option. The bites of the pretzel and pimento cheese dip, chocolate bourbon cake and the charcuterie board we're satisfying as well. My only critique is the lack of movable seating. The restaurant offers picnic table like benches in rows that don't move, so you have to share tables or fit everyone into one. Not a huge problem for smaller groups but for our party of 11, it was a little cozier than expected. The parking lot was also smaller than anticipated although there is both front and back lots. I had to park in the business lot next door. The black abbey beers I've tasted so far have all been good and some local restaurants sell their beers on the menu. Try it out if you haven't!
google avatar

Jacob C.

Yelp
Black Abbey's taproom has the feel of an old church with the lighting and pews on the side of the room. They didn't have any outdoor seating and it wasn't pet friendly which was surprising to me. Their beer is different. They have a pale ale and an IPA but most of their options are barrel aged which isn't my thing. They had a few coffee stouts which were good but not great. I did like that you could order different flights I just didn't try any beer I particularly liked.
google avatar

Meg L.

Yelp
Black Abbey has an interesting history with a unique brewery style. Another well known brewery, their beers can be found in almost every bar and restaurant. Their beers are more on the heavier side with full flavors. The Rose, a Belgian style blonde, is a full flavored light bodied easy drinking beer. They were out of their barrel-aged brew when we were there, but would love to go back and be able to sample these brews aged in Jameson Whiskey barrels. Yelp
Hidden gem!!! This taproom is an awesome building with a lot of character. Black Abbey has great beer. There are a lot of spacious tables and a friendly staff. Most surprisingly, their food is excellent! We got the cheese board (which is only $10) and it was a ton of food! I recommend for hangs and games. Also, the flight is 10 beers!!!
google avatar

Megan F.

Yelp
Fantastic beers Belgian style! We enjoyed the flight and my favorites were the rose Blonde ale & the Forty four coffee porter! Good atmosphere, music inside, board games to play & nice staff. I like the way you can try a variety of beers for fair price!

Yelp
Agh! I must begin with the fact that my organization-seeking-loving-needing self is flipping out that I can't properly designate which neighborhood this is. I want to call it Berry Hill, but it's technically southeast of the Berry Hill boundary on Thompson. And Berry Hill, itself, is a weird little town/neighborhood that confuses and intrigues me (it's part of Nashville?...no.... it's its own municipality?....no... it's a city in Davidson County?...no...well, yes to all.... doesnotcompute). So, before I even stepped foot inside Black Abbey, I'd already had a logical/procedural meltdown. It's a good thing the beer's so good. The taproom at Black Abbey is unlike many (all?) of the other taprooms around town. There's no hipster element. There are no bells and whistles. You come in. You look to the left at the picnic tables. You look ahead of you at the beer vats. You go around the corner (well, inside) to walk into the large brew room... and that's about it. And, I can appreciate that. When the product is good, there's no need for much else. Here, you're going to run in to people who are serious about making interesting and tasty beer. And, I suppose, the somewhat stark nature of the brewery/taproom fits in to the industrial vibe (you're close to the interstate and train tracks) of the area (which is called...?). I enjoy that they go whole hog into the Black Abbey schtick. Follow-through is important. My favorite of their brews is the Rose (actually, I've had another one of their blonde ales and it was good, too). However, being a fan of darker brews (and with the whole Middle Ages thing they have going on, darker - and sweeter - beers seem to make the most sense), I have yet to have a Black Abbey beer (admittedly not at the brewery) that I haven't cared for. If you're a beer enthusiast, step outside the popular confines of SoBro, The Gulch and East Nashville for a taste of Nashville (figurative and literal) that you might not get during the everyday circuit/scene. Black Abbey, I have no idea where you are but I'm looking forward to coming back.

Yelp
Odd, it's a microbrewery that I like and would drink most of their beers. This is a rare place indeed. The taproom is new, looks new, these are not things I like in a brewery but I'll survive. I'm so happy something interesting in the world of brew works has made it to the general area of the Nolensville/Thomson Lane intersection. For the most trafficked area in Nashville it's seemed wholly devoid of anything other than title loans, Mexican food, churches, car dealerships, and adult shops. And for those coming into the area via 65, it's back far enough that you can get to it during rush hour and sit out traffic should you need to. Place is kid friendly, I was that dude bringing the baby into the taproom and there were four families with six kids with their kids in the taproom. Rugrats cleared by about 6 on Saturday, Bathrooms are one seaters, have been attacked by Googly-Eye pasting bandits already... ok Church of Wheaton, we got it, Googly Eyes are amusing. Seating is communal or belly up to a bar facing the brewery, or sit it out on the sidelines. It was the second least uncomfortable communal seating I've had, so there was that. I'll be back, probably too much...

Yelp
My wife and I visited here yesterday. Overall we had a good experience. The brewery is quite large with a focus on cans. Pretty cool to see all of them seemingly stacked to the ceiling. They had a wide range of beers. The Marzen was our favorite followed by some good seasonal beers. We did the full flight of 13 so we got to experience all of them. All the beer was decent. Staff was very friendly and nice to talk with. Will be going back when we have the chance.

Yelp
Such a cool brewery! They go hard on their Martin Luther theme and it's very clever though I'm not enough of a theological scholar to catch all the references. They have a beer called The 44, a tribute to my beloved hero, Barack Obama... I was sold as soon as I saw that. We did a tour which thoroughly walked us through the brewing process and explained much of their history and background. The tours are only on Saturdays and cost $10 which is a great deal considering a beer is $6-7 (but is included in the tour cost) making the tour like $3. Plus you get a souvenir pint glass. After the tour, we tried a flight and I honestly liked each and every one of them, but the one that really got me and made me go back for a pint was the TNIPA. They self-proclaim it as "the IPA of flyover country" combining west coast Cascadia hops with east coast citrus forwardness. Anyway, I hope I've convinced you that this is a place to spend an afternoon/evening.

Yelp
I am on a mission to try all of the breweries in Nashville. I had tried Black Abbey's beer at other bars so I was excited to go to the actual source. The Black Abbey taproom is located on Sidco Drive. There is a parking lot so no stress there! That road gets hella busy though during rush hour so be aware. It took me a bit to get out of there around 5:00. The taproom itself isn't huge but it has a cool feel to it. There is an old cathedral style wood shelf where they keep the merchandise for sale. There are a decent number of long tables for seating. They also have board games available for your entertainment. They have a nice assortment of beers on their menu and a few seasonal flavors. The bartender was very nice and let me sample a few beers. I think I ended up ordering an IPA called The Five Points. I think. Or I might have ordered The Rose. This is why I need to write reviews right after! Whatever it was, it was delicious. It came in a cool glass with their unique logo. It's a great space to get a beer and get some work done, chat with friends, or play some games. You can see the whole brewery next to the taproom. I saw that they have tours if you want to learn more about the beer. They have cans stacked up to the ceiling so you can get some nice photos. Some breweries are getting so big and fancy, but Black Abbey keeps it simple and about the beer. The beer is tasty, the space is nice, and the people are friendly. All good for me! I would definitely come back and enjoy another cold one!

Yelp
Enjoyed a nice round of beers with family. As usual I started with a flight. Can't resist. Bar service was friendly and helpful. No food options, but that wasn't a surprise. Bathrooms were clean. That's a nice bonus. Comfortable setting. Big tables. (this helped with our rowdy game of Sorry). Ample parking, and easy to see from the street.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped in while we were in town recently. Instead of tasting a flight, I opted to go straight for the dark beer. I tried the Forty Four and their seasonal beer, Wicked Gate. The 44 was decent, but not my favorite. I definitely liked the Wicked Gate. We struck up a conversation with the people at our table and talked beer for a minute, and after getting the lowdown on the flavor palettes, I'm glad I chose what I did. We played a board game while we were here and enjoyed great conversation and the surroundings. Great atmosphere. There is something here for everyone.

Yelp
These beers are near perfect. I made the mistake of stopping at another brewery on the way out of Nashville that had high reviews, but every beer was horrific. Here, I had the 44 (porter with coffee), Guy Fawkes (brown ale), and Quad, and they were all some of the best of their kind that I've had. Plus, the vibe is laid back, the bartenders are nice, and there's plenty of parking. My only knock is that they could used stools at the bar, but that doesn't take away from the quality (that'd be like knocking a star because there's no water. Don't be that person.) If you're visiting breweries in Nashville, this is a must stop.

Yelp
I came here for a event private fund raiser, which offered two drinks, a glass, and a tour. I was pleasantly surprised at many aspects of this place. first, it was spotless. Second, these guys know how to brew...not that I'm any kind of expert, but during the tour it was obvious that these guys thought through every process to maximize this space and their brewskis. Thirdly, the beer was fantastic. It didn't taste like "new beer", but something that was well developed and truly "hand crafted". Again, I'm not really a beer expert or snob, but I do know something good when it hits my taste buds, and this was it.
