Came here a few weeks ago and had an absolutely great experience. Very friendly staff, delicious wings and burgers, ice cold beer - everything a girl could want! My boyfriend had the roast beef sandwich and said it was tasty, I can’t recommend the wings and cheeseburger enough!

really amazing pub! even tho the place was slammed and there was only one staff member at the front we got our food after a reasonable waiting period. the staff was really friendly and the food and drinks are very good. definitely recommend this if you're looking for a nice place to grab a bite and have a cozy ambience.

Located on a fairly busy street, Black Dog is a casual eatery with a wide selection of beers and pub-style food items such as burgers, wings, nachos, gyoza, and sandwiches. The food and drinks are all very average, but it’s a fun location to sit outside and people-watch, as the busy street offers front-row view of the many near-misses between the pedestrians, cyclists, and cars. Fast and friendly service.

Had dinner with friends and Sunday lunch alone here, the food was delish and the portions were satisfying on both occasions...my new favourite restaurant in Amsterdam. Also, the terrace is 420 friendly, which was the cherry on top 🍒

The only place in Amsterdam that served coffee after 9 pm. We walked through the city looking for some coffee with no luck until someone told us to go to The Black Dog and the guys were awesome since we entered. We grabbed 4 cappuccinos (They were great!), took some photos and enjoyed some great time there. PS: The music was great!

Visited this place based on ratings an proximity to our hotel and so glad we did. Excellent and quick service and the best burger and fries I’ve had in a while. Topped off with some nice cold beer’

A very pleasant spot just behind Dam Square. The international cuisine menu is really tasty. I especially recommend the vegetable gyoza, spicy chicken wings, and nachos!

The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect place to kick back and enjoy good company. What truly stood out, though, was the staff. They were incredibly warm, friendly, and attentive, adding a personal touch to the experience. If you’re looking for great beer, delicious cheese, and top-notch service, The Black Dog is the place to be!

The food was delicious We ordered the spicy wings (not too spicy) and they were fought over. The burgers were cooked perfectly and they were a great size. The chicken ceaser with bacon and butter leaf was so delicious. I'd definitely go back. The ambiance is a bar crowd. It's not fancy, just simple. The service was great and attentive.

Of course we had to visit The Black Dog while in Amsterdam.. well because we have a black dog. We started off with drinks, it was a beer for me and a coca-cola for my husband. For food it was the soup of the day with bread and chicken gyoza for me and the traditional English Sunday roast for my husband (this is available every Sunday while supplies last). It was a cool spot to visit.

I found this place when out with a group of 3 other friends. Food was super tasty and the drinks were perfect. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Busy enough to be lively but quiet enough we could still have a conversation. One of our friends had some minor medical issues (fainting, weakness) while we were there. After clarifying with the staff his issues were not due to intoxication, they were super nice and accommodating. Definitely will return on a future trip.

The service was the best thing about this place- friendly and quick. The food was mediocre- nothing to write home about. I was nervous that the stairs to the WC in the basement were steep and without any railing on one side- yikes!

Love this place get the quesadilla or the wings. The drinks are also scrumptious. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Even in the Netherlands you can find a great British pub! Great food and ambiance!! So glad we stumble across it on our visit to Amsterdam

What a find! Dying for a good place for munchies when we flew in that afternoon from the states. Server was very charming; the food was very good gastropub fare -- excellent buffalo wings, chicken Caesar was excellent, burger very good. Great seating both inside and outside. Cool place, "easy done right"!

Perfect little place to take a break from walking around. Had two beers in the late afternoon (was peaceful), were good.

Good food and service.... Even only two server( bar tender and server) they can manage and handle the restaurant. Best food !!!!

Love this place! Convenient location near dam square, where I was staying. I also bought a Black Dog sweatshirt to take home to the US. Great customer service and food. I will definitely come back and highly recommend to anyone visiting Amsterdam!

It took a while to be served due to them being seemingly understaffed, but the wait was worth it. Delicious food! We also had some beers that were great as well. It's a popular spot for locals and tourists, and they have a great selection of both meat and vegetarian/vegan options, as well as an extensive beer and wine list. Highly recommend this spot!

Fantastic spot! Stopped in at the bar one night, then came the next day for Sunday Roast! Great atmosphere, cool people, and excellent friendly service! The roast was perfect, and the drinks are amazing!!

Very cool pub with excellent bartenders. Good food and the perfect spot to close out a night of city wandering with a pint and a sandwich.

The Black Dog is a gastropub near the city center. About 3 blocks from Dam Square. A gastropub is a British bar and restaurant, with better food than a traditional pub. The food: half the menu's vegetarian (some vegan). Some of the food is British, though mostly it's global bar food, such as nachos and wings. The food's good enough, though I kind of wish they had more pub foods, like fish and chips or shepherd's pie, because you can get nachos or wings anywhere. The bar: staffed by a couple of very cheerful British fellows. Seems like a good place to hang out, vent, shoot the breeze, etc. Good beer selection too.

The Black Dog is a really cool bar/restaurant that my friends and I randomly stumbled into while exploring Amsterdam. Upon walking inside, we were greeted by extremely friendly service and warm hospitality. I believe this bar is somewhat new, but the vibes were perfect for what we were looking for. We grabbed a table by the bar for a quick drink and snack. A cold beer was all I needed, and I decided to order the Brouwerij 'T IJ IPA. After talking to who I believe to be the owner, we also decided to try their beef chimichurri skewers, which were very flavorful and delicious. Overall, our experience at The Black Dog far exceeded expectations. Between the service, food, menu options, and atmosphere, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area.

Great music, atmosphere and staff. The Mushroom Bitters with mustard were amazing. Good beer.

The Black Dog was a really cool spot to stop for food and beers! The bartender was very nice and helpful when picking out beers. We had the nachos with chili which were perfect! We will definitely stop in next time we're in Amsterdam!

DELICIOUS Cheeseburger & Buffalo chicken burger with fries!! This Pub is COOL, Friendly & "The Black Dog" is GORGEOUS! When we return to Amsterdam, we WILL return to The Black Dog!

Food was pretty solid. Wide range of menu options that seem random but was a good mix. Good atmosphere.

The nachos and burger is delicious! Service is a tad slow because no one wants to work in service after COVID so please give the server a break. They're doing their best

Great little pub with food that was delicious. My flight crew and I stopped in to start our evening tour. Chicken quesadilla was on point with some Franks buffalo hot sauce. Next time we are in town, I plan to make a stop in.

Last night here in Amsterdam. My daughter and I stopped in The Black Dog for drinks and appetizers. The service was amazing!!! Phil waited on us and was so friendly and attentive! Ali and Kerri also made sure our drinks and service were great! We had the best Quesadillas and nachos with chili ever. Fantastic food! All home made . Wish I could come back one day but headed back to SC in US tomorrow. Highly recommend! Thanks for such great food and service!

We stumbled upon this little gem in May of 2022 and found that the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable ( even with a loud soccer match on the telly). The food was very tasty and the general feeling of the place brought us back for a 2nd visit the next day!

Can't say enough about this place. The interior the service and the food was all outstanding. If you visit the city this is a must stop place.

Great spot in the heart of the city. British pub food done right with a great selection of local beers. The steak and ale pie was great, with flavors and textures more delicate than expected. Friendly folks and a truly relaxing environment.

We've been here several times now and the staff is incredibly friendly, food is far above quality of what I would expect to find in any bar, let alone in the city center (with terrace!). They even have gluten-free and vegetarian options clearly marked on the menu and very understanding and knowledgeable staff. Definitely your go-to place in Amsterdam!
