Yelp
I went Black Sheep recently for dinner with three friends who were visiting from out of town. I didn't know anything about the place before going, but two from our group had been there and liked it.
It's a pub! It was crowded, especially for a Monday night, and I think they were shortstaffed, so this review can be somewhat understandable...not good!
Atmosphere 2/5
Being a pub, the decor is what you would expect, a little dark and dingy, and there were a lot of tables and not a lot of space. And of course the noise level was high. Not a place to go to for an intimate chat with friends.
Food 2/5
Again, it could just have been the night, but the food was not good at all. I had a cheeseburger, which was fine, and one friend had Caesar salad, I believe, which he liked, too. Another friend ordered the fish and chips, and they were gigantic, biggest fish sticks I've ever seen! They filled the length of the oval plate they were served on. She said it was all batter and very little fish. Disappointed. My other friend ordered garlic, french fries, which looked greasy and very undercooked. It's a shame, because usually pubs like these have good grub.
Service 2/5
I mentioned above that they seemed shortstaffed. We had a waitress, who was clearly overwhelmed, and wasn't able to keep up with her customers, including us. Inattentive is how I would put it. The bartender eventually jumped in to help, which was nice. He was friendly and took care of us to the end of our evening.
Overall, 2 out of 5 stars!
