The Blind Pig Pub Review - Downtown Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"So you’re out for a bachelor or bachelorette party and the person that really loved Greek life in college suggests going to Dirty Sixth. Before anyone else picks a bar, direct the group to The Blind Pig. It’s just as crazy and college-y as the rest of the bars on the strip, but it also has a huge rooftop patio and hosts nightly live music. You’ll have to wade through the overcrowded bar on the first floor, but once you pass by all the UT students, there are three additional bars to choose from upstairs, which will help make your visit to Dirty Sixth a little less terrible." - Adele Hazan

A little slow for a Monday night. The blackend chicken salad was awesome with the chipotle ranch dressing and the Smash Burger with house chips was delicious. The bartender's service, smile, and hospitality were top-notch. I'm sorry I didn't catch her name.

Awesome customer service from Kayleigh and extremely delicious food for a great price.

Places was dirty,- table bench and bathroom floors very sticky. Ordered brisket tacos and got some sort of meat concealed under alot of white sauce. I paid for the appetizer( fried eggs that tasted like they were cooked in 2 week old oil) and told the waitress that's not brisket and I don't want to pay for that they agreed and I left never to return. Stay away go across the street.

Had the brisket sub. Delish! Fast, friendly service. Good local (SC) beer at a good price. Worth a return trip.

Hands down worst dining experience I have ever had. Timing: It took the hostess five minutes to acknowledge my friend and I and then a couple more minutes to seat us even though the restaurant was relatively empty. There were no refills on our waters the entire hour we were there. The appetizer came out and our server waited to take our food order after 3 other groups had come in and were served. We were done “eating” within 15 minutes and sat around the rest of the time for our check. Other tables who came in after as were once again acknowledged before us. We could have easily walked out without paying and no one would have noticed. We did not do that. Food: I got the fried deviled eggs for my appetizer. The garnish was completely wilted and the deviled eggs were over salted with raw breading. My friend got a Smash burger double patty, unsmashed and completely burnt. I got the Hog Wild, The Mac’n’Cheese tasted rancid and the overall flavor of the eastern BBQ was off. My entire entree was intact and I never got asked why it wasn’t eaten. We were upcharged for our Sweet Potato fries without being told that there would be a charge. None of the up charges were on the menu either. Service: overall terrible.

The service was great I did a call in the young lady on the phone was very kind, as well as the boss, they accommodated us with whatever we asked for when it came to our food, but the food itself was a no for us. Our pasta was so overcooked that the texture of it was soggy/sticky. The chicken in the pasta was tough & unseasoned. There was literally no flavor at all on the chicken. The sauce wasn’t very tasty either, just thick. The salad was okay.

Yelp
If I could rate this place a zero, I would. I can't say anything about the food, as I left after less than five minutes inside. But, I can tell you all about the service and encourage you to make good choices in how you decide to have epicurean adventures that also support your local economy. My dining companion & I walked into an uncrowded restaurant with many unclean dining tables. We were then greeted by a hostess coughing into her hand while encouraging us to choose where we wanted to sit. We opted for the bar, in hopes of not experiencing anything touched by the coughing hostess. However, when I politely asked the bartender if she minded wiping our area down...due to the large crumbs sitting in front of my dining companion...she not quite as politely informed me that she had "just wiped it down but would do it again." At that point, I knew it was time to go. Anyone who follows me here knows that I am an avid foodie & supporter of small businesses. However, I do not stay where I am not welcomed & will absolutely not set foot back in this establishment again.

Yelp
Hartsville has some of the better restaurants in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina and The Blind Pig Pub is a great addition to this fantastic town. When you walk in, the dining room is wide open with plenty of room between the tables. It has a clean and modern feel. The menu isn't what you'd call typical southern food but they are, for the most part, unique. The have some unique tacos which I passed on this time. Instead, I ended up ordering the Fish & Chips. The fish was two nice, thick filets of cod which were battered and fried. Definitely cooked nicely. The chips were actually chips and not the British version of chips which are basically French Fries. I was a little disappointed but the house made chips were pretty good. Overall, it's worth a visit if you are in the area.

Yelp
Ate here again last night and ordered two appetizers as meals to share. The nachos again as they were five star the last time and the Buffalo chicken fries. Suffice it to say the Buffalo chicken fries are better than the nachos and the nachos like I said are five star. This restaurant is a must if you're in Hartsville.

Yelp
Bad service followed by bad food. Grilled shrimp not cooked. No attention from server! Another server secretly vaping while at bar. Never will return!!

Yelp
Very cute place. I had heard mixed reviews but you walk in and it's pretty open and was busy. They take groups well, attentive management, drink options were great, abs the good cake out really hot. I couldn't tell you entirely what the menu idea is BUT pubs are kinda random anyway and I think it gives a good stay of ideas of foods for everyone's liking.

Yelp
This place is a win!!! Delicious food at a reasonable price. Nice staff even during off hours! Indoor outdoor and bar seating! Relaxed pub feeling. I am definitely coming back. Also nice sized portions...I had already eaten half... Sorry, I was hungry!!

Yelp
A nice friendly family bar with great food. Dan is always trying to do something different. The all you can eat pasta night on Wednesdays is just one of the those things. They also have half priced wines on Wednesdays to go along with that pasta! The regular menu has great variety and is a good value. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Let me begin by saying that I am from out of town and that I judge any restaurant to a high standard. Positives: The bar area is nice. Great for singles or couples. The main dinning room is large and open. (A single person would feel out of place.) Neutral Items: Service is mixed. They were busy so my sever kind of got lost. The food was just plain average. I ordered the "famous" pork chop. It was cooked medium but no sauce as advertised. The vegetables were not that great. Not fresh. Lots of people running around but limited customer value. Bottom line: They up charge you if you use credit card. Consider other restaurants in town.

Yelp
So this was my first visit & I was extremely excited about trying this spot out. The building was beautifully redone & the decor updated from the old restaurant that had previously been there. Service was quick & our orders taken. My hubby ordered the pork belly sandwich, which is topped with fried green tomatoes & pimento cheese. I ordered the fish tacos with spicy coleslaw & remoulade sauce. First the good part. The fish tacos were awesome. Perfection. The seasoning was just right, fish was crispy & not overdone & the sauces were delicious. Now the awful part. My husband's pork belly sandwich was nothing more than two slices of bacon on toast with a fried green tomato & lettuce. It was pitiful! There was more bread than anything! $11 for a so called updated BLT. Now I'm not being picky, but I cook pork belly & I know that if you're charging $11 for a sandwich, I don't want 2 thin slice of bacon. The tomatoes were thicker than the bacon! Notice I keep saying bacon. That was not pork belly. Anyway, on that note alone, I can't say I will go back, but I'll definitely not recommend it to anyone because that was a true rip off.

Yelp
Brisket tacos! Well priced and filling. Good atmosphere and nice bar! Great for a single customer to come in and grab dinner.

Yelp
Service was good, and that's pretty much the only positive from my visit. Nice renovation but money could've been better spent on better kitchen staff. I ordered the carnitas tacos, but what I received tasted and had the consistency of regular pulled pork bbq. The "Street corn" side that came with it was a very small portion that was devoid of seasoning and flavor. It was also served cold. When I asked about this, the waitress told me that was the way street corn was supposed to be served. Not sure what they are basing their recipes and/or cooking techniques on, but I would recommend some research in those areas. Then maybe The Blind Pig will find that acorn...

Yelp
Nice interior renovation of the building, but that is where the positives end. Indifferent servers, lack luster menu, minimal vegetarian options, $4 for a side of asparagus which equaled a mere 3 wilted overcooked pieces, cocktails that lacked alcohol, no dessert menu, etc. visited on a Saturday night abs was one of only two tables in the place. Sad to see in businesses fail so quickly...

Yelp

Yelp
So I went to the Blind Pig after a friend highly recommended it. WOW is all I can say, my friend and I walked in and waited 5 minutes for a host to greet us, in the meantime I unrolled a Tahirt to see the designs. We were finally seated when I was met by the manager who seemed so friendly but was abruptly met with accusations of "stealing" a $10 T-shirt. Even after being accused my friend and I sat down and still ordered drinks and diner when a large woman who worked there came around the corner from the bar saying "We will call the fucking cops on you" while making eye contact with me the entire time. I shortly asked for my check so I could leave. Then the manager came back over and said "we are not accusing you of anything, this was a misunderstanding". I paid my $30 tab for my ONE drink and appetizer and left. I was charged for a drink never even got. HORRIBLE service for sure.
