"There’s a ton of history at The Blue Lion, which is located in a house built in the 1930s that became a restaurant in the 1970s. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed, as there's a good mix of locals and visitors, and there always seems to be some kind of live music playing here. They serve things like New Zealand rack of lamb, huckleberry scallops, local trout, bison ribeye, and elk tenderloin, and you should always end the evening with tiramisu or mud pie for dessert. " - kristen pope

We drove in from a day full of hiking in the Grand Tetons and had reservations at the blue lion. We had seen weeks before that it was highly rated and took reservations through google maps! Everyone talked about how good the lamb chops were but we decided on the elk tenderloin, roasted salmon, and seafood scampi! All of the items turned out great! The food was delicious, waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable, and atmosphere was great! We ended up choosing the mud pie for dessert, it was a great way to finish up dinner! I would highly recommend the blue lion and plan to go back in the future! The online reservations through Google worked great, we just walked up and were almost immediately seated! (Also, the rustic inn has a shuttle that will drop you off and pick you up, making it super nice) One side note, if you’re looking for a fast meal this is not it, we were there for around 2 hours but the food quality was well worth the wait!

I recently visited The Blue Lion and had a highly unpleasant dining experience. Shortly after our entrees were served, numerous wasps surrounded our table, landing on our food, and even consuming parts of it. We had to stop eating immediately as this made it impossible to enjoy our meal and raised serious concerns about hygiene. Despite bringing this issue to the attention of the staff, the response was disappointing. We were informed that we could be moved indoors but were expected to accept and pay for the food that had been compromised by the wasps. The situation escalated unnecessarily when management called the police after I expressed my dissatisfaction with their handling of the matter. Overall, this experience was frustrating and significantly spoiled from what should have been an enjoyable dining experience. I hope that The Blue Lion takes steps to address these issues in the future to ensure a more safe and pleasant environment for their guests. Edit to add: - Elk meatballs were on the average side. - The rack of lamb, described as crispy on the outside, was disappointingly soggy. The lack of crispiness detracted from what should have been a highlight of the dish, leaving it underwhelming in texture and flavor. - Similarly, the beef tenderloin failed to impress. It lacked any discernible flavor, leaving me questioning the quality of the preparation and ingredients used.

Elk tenderloin - 5/5 Beef tenderloin - 4/5 - the cook on it was good but the quality of the beef itself was not great Wines - 50% chances is a good wine. Good barbera but the other wines from special menu not as good The mudpie - 1/5 it was served HARD as ice. The espresso icecream in the desert was really good though. But it should not have been served that hard. No wonder no party around us ordered desserts.

After a long day of road biking around Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park, we stopped at the Blue Lion for and early dinner. We had a reservation for 5:30, we were seated quickly. We started off with their house salads. I’m not much of a salad guy, but it was really tasty! Candied nuts and a nice flavorful dressing. I had the Elk Tenderloin and it was fantastic. Seasoned and cooked really well. My bud had the salmon and thought it was really tasty as well. Everything was delicious, I’d recommend giving them a try if you’re in town and you can get a reservation. Really good! I’ll be back again

We had an incredible experience at the Blue Lion. I didn’t take a picture of the stuffed mushrooms we had but they were delicious. My husband wanted to try the lamb chops and the elk tenderloin and he enjoyed both but preferred the Elk Tenderloin. My Seafood Scampi was one of the best I’ve ever had and I don’t say that lightly with all my travels- I never expected a place in Wyoming to have one of the best scampi dishes but here we are. I will give credit where it’s due! I will come back just for this dish. Overall, we made reservations for right when it opened and that was the best choice. It got really busy after we left. Our server was nice and attentive but not overbearing. The restaurant itself was an old home they converted into a restaurant. I like how homey and intimate it is. There is a live band that plays downstairs as well. Very happy with our dining experience.

The food is okay. There was nothing that we thought were outstanding. However, the plates presentation and the use of some culinary techniques showed more of the fine dining part than other regular restaurants. The stuffed mushrooms were very tasty. The atmosphere was awesome, we certainly enjoyed the cozy vives and the guy with the guitar. What made us disappointed was the server. She was sooooo slow, we were there 2 and a half hour, not because we wated, we were so tired for driving all day: 45 minutes for fisrt course!! Not sure what happened 😕 tha day with their kitchen timing. Also the server attitude was like she was giving us a huge favor, we certainly didn't appreciate that. I understand sometimes we get tired, etc, but we were tourists who wanted to have a good time and... we did. However, we will try another restaurant next time we're in town.

When we go on vacation, we like to plan our evening dinners at trending places to enhance our overall experience. The Blue Lion made the list. It’s right in the heart of Jackson Hole. We had a reservation and arrived early. We were invited to hang out in the lounge until our table was ready. We ordered cocktails while we waited. I had the Elk Hunter. It was delicious. Our waiter was super friendly and took the time to go over the menu as well as let us know the restaurant has been around for sometime and the Lamb chops have been on the menu since 1978. They are the reason why people visit this place. However we were not feeling lamb chops. And it’s suspect when the best item on the menu is also the most expensive. For an appetizer we had the Elk Meatballs. They were pretty good. My wife ordered the trout and I had the NY Steak. I asked for it medium. It took forever to get our food and the steak came out well done. It was inedible. I basically had a couple Elk Meatballs and a small house salad. The waiter apologized for the overcooked steak and removed it from the bill. Do not make the same mistake as me. Just order the lamb chops.

I recently dined at The Blue Lion and had an outstanding experience. The Idaho trout was simply magnificent—perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making the entire evening enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience in Jackson!
