The 14 Best Restaurants In Jackson Hole

"There’s a ton of history at The Blue Lion, which is located in a house built in the 1930s that became a restaurant in the 1970s. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed, as there's a good mix of locals and visitors, and there always seems to be some kind of live music playing here. They serve things like New Zealand rack of lamb, huckleberry scallops, local trout, bison ribeye, and elk tenderloin, and you should always end the evening with tiramisu or mud pie for dessert. " - kristen pope

Went here last night while in town for business on a suggestion from a business partner and glad I did. I ordered the French onion soup and shrimp scampi that came with a salad. The food was phenomenal with great flavors. I also enjoyed the guy playing guitar while I ate. The service was top notch to boot. Will definitely be back next time.

I had a fantastic evening at The Blue Lion with friends, and it was such a warm, inviting spot! We arrived with a small dog, who settled quietly under the table, and the staff were completely fine with it. The vibe of the place is fantastic, with this authentic, historic feel that just draws you in. We loved every bite, from the appetizers to the desserts—everything was spot-on delicious. They also offer non-alcoholic cocktails, which was a huge plus for me! The service was super friendly, and the atmosphere was just perfect. We noticed they have a beautiful outdoor area, but it wasn’t open yet since it’s not quite the season. I can only imagine how amazing it must be to dine out there! Highly recommend swinging by The Blue Lion if you’re looking for great food and a cozy, memorable night out!

Been before and return every time we are in the area. As always, very accommodating of my companion who has significant allergies. Server was amazing. Live music was top notch. Brought friends this time who had never been to Jackson. Totally converted them. Excellent Elk, Lamb, and everything else. Masters in their fields.

We drove in from a day full of hiking in the Grand Tetons and had reservations at the blue lion. We had seen weeks before that it was highly rated and took reservations through google maps! Everyone talked about how good the lamb chops were but we decided on the elk tenderloin, roasted salmon, and seafood scampi! All of the items turned out great! The food was delicious, waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable, and atmosphere was great! We ended up choosing the mud pie for dessert, it was a great way to finish up dinner! I would highly recommend the blue lion and plan to go back in the future! The online reservations through Google worked great, we just walked up and were almost immediately seated! (Also, the rustic inn has a shuttle that will drop you off and pick you up, making it super nice) One side note, if you’re looking for a fast meal this is not it, we were there for around 2 hours but the food quality was well worth the wait!

Exceptional service, food and cocktails! Highly recommend the stuffed mushrooms, scallops and Elk tenderloin. The views from the patio are great and the food and drinks are incredible.

The Blue Lion is a cozy spot with a rustic vibe that feels just right for a night out in Jackson. Their elk medallions were tender and perfectly seasoned, paired with a creamy mushroom risotto that balanced the dish nicely. The wine list has solid options, and the staff genuinely knows their stuff. Great place if you want something a bit special without being stuffy.

When we go on vacation, we like to plan our evening dinners at trending places to enhance our overall experience. The Blue Lion made the list. It’s right in the heart of Jackson Hole. We had a reservation and arrived early. We were invited to hang out in the lounge until our table was ready. We ordered cocktails while we waited. I had the Elk Hunter. It was delicious. Our waiter was super friendly and took the time to go over the menu as well as let us know the restaurant has been around for sometime and the Lamb chops have been on the menu since 1978. They are the reason why people visit this place. However we were not feeling lamb chops. And it’s suspect when the best item on the menu is also the most expensive. For an appetizer we had the Elk Meatballs. They were pretty good. My wife ordered the trout and I had the NY Steak. I asked for it medium. It took forever to get our food and the steak came out well done. It was inedible. I basically had a couple Elk Meatballs and a small house salad. The waiter apologized for the overcooked steak and removed it from the bill. Do not make the same mistake as me. Just order the lamb chops.

I recently visited The Blue Lion and had a highly unpleasant dining experience. Shortly after our entrees were served, numerous wasps surrounded our table, landing on our food, and even consuming parts of it. We had to stop eating immediately as this made it impossible to enjoy our meal and raised serious concerns about hygiene. Despite bringing this issue to the attention of the staff, the response was disappointing. We were informed that we could be moved indoors but were expected to accept and pay for the food that had been compromised by the wasps. The situation escalated unnecessarily when management called the police after I expressed my dissatisfaction with their handling of the matter. Overall, this experience was frustrating and significantly spoiled from what should have been an enjoyable dining experience. I hope that The Blue Lion takes steps to address these issues in the future to ensure a more safe and pleasant environment for their guests. Edit to add: - Elk meatballs were on the average side. - The rack of lamb, described as crispy on the outside, was disappointingly soggy. The lack of crispiness detracted from what should have been a highlight of the dish, leaving it underwhelming in texture and flavor. - Similarly, the beef tenderloin failed to impress. It lacked any discernible flavor, leaving me questioning the quality of the preparation and ingredients used.

Yelp
As a Jackson local, The Blue Lion somehow flew under my radar for far too long--but I'm so glad I finally made it! This spot is an absolute gem, and I can't believe I waited this long to experience it. The downstairs space is stunningly cozy, with live music and a charming bar that make it feel like the perfect blend of intimate and lively. It's downright picturesque, with an ambiance that invites you to stay and soak it all in. The food was nothing short of exceptional. We started with the stuffed mushrooms, moved on to the French onion soup, scallops, and elk tenderloin. Every dish was beautifully prepared and packed with flavor. You can tell there's real passion in the kitchen. The Blue Lion is officially a new favorite, and I'll be recommending it to locals and visitors alike. If you're like me and haven't made it there yet, don't wait--this place deserves all the praise it gets!

Yelp
We weren't planning on coming to The Blue Lion during our trip to Jackson. We had made reservations at a different restaurant but about 2 weeks out, we got a call from that restaurant that there was some sort of emergency and they had to close. I really wanted our anniversary dinner to be special and the next restaurant on the list was The Blue Lion. I have one regret about coming to The Blue Lion, and that's that I didn't choose it first. I should have. This restaurant was amazing! Walking in, this was the first restaurant we encountered that offered to take our jackets for us. Not only did they take our jackets, but they were not charging for it. The person at the door did not ask for our names, she already knew who we were and greeted us so warmly for our anniversary. When we got to the table, I almost cried, there was a card with a lovely note for us. These small touches mean so much to me, I can't thank this restaurant enough for caring about it's customers and giving us an amazing first anniversary. The restaurant is beautiful, with a lot of nice blue touches, including some lions around the place. I can see why people like the outside terrace in the summer, it's really large. Our server was also really nice and made us feel really comfortable. He wasn't as attentive as I think he'd like to be but he was also the only server working. The person who greeted us at the door (who I think may have been the manager) was the one to refill our waters. The cocktails here were hands down the best we had all weekend. Seriously, they know how to whip up a cocktail here. That huckleberry lemon drop? Stop! You have to get this. Beyond yummy! Also, they were made by the person who met us at the door. She was flipping fantastic and they are lucky to have her. The food here was also amazing. We happened to be here during the off season and there was a "tasting" menu where you can order small bites of their popular dishes. I loved this concept and we were able to try more things than we normally would have ordered. They gifted us with the mud pie at the end of the night. Perfect dessert to end a fantastic evening.

Yelp
French onion soup was amazing! My daughter got the tenderloin which was very tough and I got the special which was a Chilean sea bass! I couldn't eat it st all so tough and very disappointed after paying 200 for our meal for two people they only thing good was the soup! We didn't complain it's not who we are but I'm sure when they saw everything left on our plate they n knew!

Yelp
Loved the charming ambience, friendly efficient service, and excellent live guitarist (volume just right for background music.) Food was just okay though. Expected better quality based on the reviews. Maybe we're spoiled by Bay Area restaurants but our meal was sub par. Maybe we ordered the wrong things? We weren't in the mood for elk or lam , etc. Gnudi: baked (fried?) ricotta balls. Daughter liked them. Hubby and I found them heavy and meh. Stuffed mushrooms: They were okay. Couldn't really taste the crab. The mushrooms were cooked well. Baguette: This was our favorite thing of all our dishes. Add butter and the scallion oil...tasty. Salads: Included with our entrees. The lettuce itself was not crisp. Liked the caramelized pecans. Trout: Hubby enjoyed it. Salmon: Daughter enjoyed it but it wasn't her favorite. Scallops: I've had better. They were seared nicely but a little too chewy. Dessert: Choco-Flan, the flan seemed overcooked. Whipped cheesecake, okay. Wouldn't order these desserts again. Gave it 4 stars bc the experience was lovely and cozy. That's what I think we really ended up paying for. If you're a foodie, maybe just don't expect mind-blowing food. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't that great. Glad we at least enjoyed the bread, butter and scallion oil. Added the only photo I took, of the scallops. Maybe we just ordered wrong? Maybe skip seafood in Wyoming.

Yelp
Great ambience and I hope to return soon.. live music to enjoy while dining is next level. Elk tenderloin was amazing and the service was great as well

Yelp
We went to the Blue Lion for our last night in Jackson for a special dinner. First of all, I loved the venue itself. It seemed like a small cottage house that had been converted but still held it's cozy charm. We were seated upstairs in the loft area. Our waitress was very personable so I'll forgive her for adding a large ticket item to our bill that we had not ordered. I had the french onion soup and trout. Both were lovely. The food took a very long time to come out, but after literally having the quickest dinners we've ever had in our life during this trip, it was almost a welcome surprise. I also loved the blue cheese dressing on my salad. Our bill turned out to be a bit of a fiasco (I try and remind my husband to ALWAYS check it instead of just throwing a card down). We caught the mistake after the fact (it was for an additional bottle of wine, but not the one we ordered) and I got kind of a ick feeling in my stomach by how it was handled. Overall, I think the food made up for it and we enjoyed our dinner.

Yelp
Tiramisu is amazing delicious, my fiancé took me to this place for our anniversary the service was fantastic

Yelp
We were lucky to grab a table outside where they had outdoor heaters. There was live music which made for a nice ambiance. The butternut squash was delicious, and I highly recommend the 460 baguette which is baked locally and served with scallion oil and whipped butter. The elk tenderloin was a real hit. My scallops were huge and crisp and the wild rice was delicious. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of the huckleberry sauce that coated the scallops. Nice cocktails and wine selection. Friendly service.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my meal but their fish didn't spark any love for me. Service was absolutely incredible (OG white glove level attention), seating was comfortable with live music and the restaurant was super welcoming. Food wise, this place definitely appeals way more to the carnivores! Grilled elk was a crowd pleaser for starters. The salads are included and I thought the dressings were amazing (I went blue cheese). My dad had the trout and I had the snapper, we thought both were way over cooked. My mother's Marsala was amazing, sauce was shockingly good. The carnivores at the table absolutely loved the elk & short rib. *I think this is a solid 5 star joint if you steer clear of the fish.*

Yelp
Delicious food, great service and very nice ambiance. This has been our favorite restaurant in Jackson WY. My wife loves the lamb and I enjoyed the duck.
google avatar

Craig M.

Yelp
Stopped by for dinner, and were greeted very warmly. My wife and I were seated in the outside patio, which was lovely. Adding to the ambience was a live classical guitarist playing beautiful renditions of popular songs in a slow and tasteful tempo. Our server was very knowledgeable, very attentive and you could tell he cared deeply about the food and customer dining experience. I had the grilled elk tenderloin (med-rare), and my wife had the sautéed huckleberry scallops, both of which were excellent. I was full but my wife had the Ukrainian raspberries and creme for dessert and raved about it. Loved the experience and would definitely return.

Yelp
Good service - friendly, knowledgeable on menu items, good food - meatballs/red sauce, and trout were winners for me, drinks were ok - bartender needs a bit more experience. Went early on a Saturday night to beat the crowds and the drinks were so so.

Yelp
We came here to celebrate my 30th birthday!!! The crab stuffed mushrooms were amazing!!! Salsa with house made dressings were fantastic. Also highly recommend the elk! We enjoyed the environment, food, and service!

Yelp
January 2024 Happy New Year!! I love Jackson Wy!! This restaurant is legit!! The Elk meatballs are amazing!! Wife had the King Salmon (yes again) and loved it. And she knows Salmon. The beef tenderloin was one of the best I've ever had!!
google avatar

Edina S.

Yelp
The ambiance was fantastic, live music playing. Short rib was 10/10, the meat fell off the bone. The lamb lollipops was apparently their hottest item - personally not a huge fan but my bf thought it was phenomenal. Lastly the French onion soup was good but different. There was brandy in the broth and very different than expected. Service was super attentive all night! The only reason for one star off is the price - be prepared to spend a pretty penny!
google avatar

Yelp
What a quaint house to be converted to a restaurant.  The place felt fancy yet comfortable. All the dishes were expensive, elegant, delicious and enough to sustain. Whole Local Trout with wild rice and asparagus - fish was very large and tasty. Huckleberry Scallops with wild rice and asparagus - scallop was quite large and fresh. Elk Tenderloin with mashed potatoes and asparagus - so tender and yummy.

Yelp
Ate here tonight for a work dinner and had the creamy basil dressing on my salad, the seafood scampi for my main course, and the mud pie for dessert. Everything was above my expectations! As the kids say, this food ATE.
google avatar

Yelp
This was absolutely delicious. Atmosphere and service was top notch. The pesto oil they give you for your bread is special, ha. So good!!
google avatar

Yelp
Party of 4 who booked based on the "to die for lamb." The two orders of lamb were either overcooked or undercooked and disappointed both parties. My steak was to be cooked medium and it struggled to be called rare, dark purple except the very edges. Waitress neglected to come back for drink orders until appetizers were served. Utensils were cleared with appetizers and not replaced for the next course. For a very expensive meal, it was very lacking and unimpressive.
google avatar

Genitra G.

Yelp
Excellent service and atmosphere. They had a live guitarist and excellent food. Would highly recommend

Yelp
They need a revamp. Food and service is okay not the exemplary level we had remembered.

Yelp
With reservations a month out I was looking forward to a splurge while visiting Jackson, Wyoming. I even picked out my cocktail, a margarita made with Wild Common Tequila, a signature menu item. The cocktail was delivered and because there were so many ingredients masking the tequila I asked for Wild Common on the rocks. I was then informed they don't have that tequila, my drink was made with Cuervo 1800. $17 price for shelf liquor. My entree was Trout Meunière, known to be a classic French preparation with flour coated fish simply cooked and served with lemon and browned butter. I received a whole trout, complete with flaccid skin and belly bones resting on top of cold, crystallized mashed potatoes. Terrible dining experience.

Ken V.

Yelp
I usually do not leave reviews. I just wanted to tell those Associated with the blue lion. I had a wonderful meal last night. The food was spectacular. The ambience was wonderful. The bartender was great The hostess was more than accommodating, The only complaint I had was our waiter was awful. I have waited tables in five star restaurants before, that was the worst service I have ever had in such a high end restaurant.
google avatar

Mike D.

Yelp
Nice intimate ambience, excellent menu and service. $$$$ Casual dress and atmosphere. Nice !!
google avatar

Nathan B.

Yelp
The food here is just incredible. Wasn't in the mood for heavier options so ordered the Idaho trout. It was so good I came back ordered it again the next time I was in town! Waitstaff are awesome too. I make regular trips to Jackson for work and this place is one of my favorites.

Yelp
There with friends for the first time. Met another local two friends. We all enjoyed our meals. Some of us had ELK for the first time. It was soo tender, cooked as I like it, medium rare. It was more tender than steak. Posted pictures. (Will get back to this review after I post some pictures)

Yelp
The drinks, that atmosphere, and the food were all five-star! I had a specialty margarita, and it was the bomb! Highly recommend!!!!

Yelp
I am giving 5 stars just for the kindness of the staff! We did not eat here but they helped us find a restaurant that was suited to our tastes without hesitation. You guys are the best!!!!

Yelp
A great to dine in Jackson Hole. Beautiful place and a nice atmosphere. Good food. Service was excellent and very informative.

Yelp
We had a fabulous Mother's Day dinner last night. I love restaurants that appear to be located in an old house, and this was no exception. We were seated downstairs and I prefer this to the upstairs seating, definitely more ambiance. The acoustic guitar sounds of Marco Soliz were much enjoyed. We kept guessing the old rock classics that he was playing, oh so subtlety. We started with the stuffed mushrooms, yum! We both had the elk tenderloin and it did not disappoint! Served with mashed potatoes and asparagus, I finished the whole thing. My knife slicing through the elk like butter. Then, just because it was Mother's Day, and we both happened to be mothers, we split a Mud Pie for dessert. One of my favorites! Again, delicious! The service was great too. To top it off, we both were gifted roses for our special day. Thank you for the lovely evening.
google avatar

Andy G.

Yelp
Very nice high end dining establishment in Jackson. Wonderful food, quiet atmosphere, great service. Would go back in a moment. We had the Rack of Lamb and the Elk Medallions. Both wonderful.
google avatar

Lulu Z.

Yelp
The service was great! Staff were very kind and attentive. The food was very very overpriced for what we got. Felt more like a ruby Tuesday type of meal rather than a $$$ place. Lamb was the best, but barely seasoned besides the crust. Beef tenderloin was basically raw, elk was also more raw and also burnt. The trout was kind of bland. Probably the most disappointing meal we've had here this far.
google avatar

Cameron W.

Yelp
This is one of the best restaurants in Jackson hole with certainly the best history. My wife and I visited this restaurant 25 years ago on our honeymoon and came back for even a better meal this last Friday. The food is incredible. The ambience was to die for with a wonderful guitarist playing all night for our meal!! Our service was downright impeccable. The owner of this restaurant knows he has a gem and treats it so.
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
Wow, Wow, and Wow. This is a converted old 2 story house, very unassuming... The delight is in the food. The chef can cook! we had the rack of lamb- house specialty- and filet of Bison... it melted in your mouth. Be prepared to shell out some money for this fine dining experience, but worth it every so often...

H V.

Yelp
Cozy and comfortable, this intimate restaurant is exceptional. The service was so accommodating, many special needs and requests handled with grace. The food was simply delicious. Their famed rack of lamb lived up to the hype. The corn soup was delicious and the trout spread simply devine. For dessert we were concerned about caffeine so our waiter brought us a scrumptious, light macerated raspberries on a mixture of sour and sweet cream. To die for. Highly recommend this non-touristy off the beaten path gem in Jackson.
google avatar

Yana G.

Yelp
Very nice spot. Cozy, very good service and friendly waiter. Answered all my questions and gave a great suggestion. Food was delicious we enjoyed it all. The guitar player was also really good and played beautiful melodies. We had a Great experience.
google avatar

Debra H.

Yelp
The food was delicious as were the signature cocktails. We weren't overwhelmed by the service and definitely did not appreciate our table on the second floor that was tucked in a corner next to a stairwell. I would say give it a try but preview where they see you before you accept the table. They take reservations and require you to give them your credit card when you make the reservation. You are charged $50 if you do not show up.
google avatar

Rachel J.

Yelp
Best meal we had in Jackson! Great service, cozy environment. We got the bread, stuffed mushrooms and Bison short ribs. Highly recommend!

Catherine J.

Yelp
Went here last summer during my trip out west. Had heard it was worth a visit. Definitely on the price to side but worth every dollar! Amazing food and lovely service. Do yourself a favor and make time to dine here!
google avatar

Ains H.

Yelp
I've been going here for years and the lamb has always been a standout! The sauce always left me wanting to return. I just went last night for the first time since the change in ownership and the sauce was just mediocre. Major disappointment. Service was great, ambiance was great, but.. without that sauce, I'm not sure I'll be back.
google avatar

Scotty F.

Yelp
Everything was amazing. Food was great, service was great and ambiance was great. Nice low light setting, with a quiet environment. Highly recommend, but it does come with a cost.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on our last night in Jackson Hole and it did not disappoint! Service: 5/5, I called a few hours ahead and they got us a reservation booked right away. Our water glasses were never empty and the complimentary bread came right away. The main dishes did take a while to come out but worth the wait and time to digest the bread and appetizers. Ambience: 5/5, cozy, dim-lit vibes in this wooden, two-story cottage style house perfect for either a romantic dinner for two or an intimate group dinner over nice conversation without loud music/chatter/etc. Food: 4/5, bread was slightly cold. 3/5 - grilled wasabi elk, the wasabi and seaweed salad combo with elk is not a favorite, with the former overpowering any taste of elk. Would go for the stuffed mushrooms over this. 4/5 - duck cakes, a little dry and can't taste the duck all too much. 5/5 - main dishes (rack of lamb and tenderloins) served with seasonal veggies (cinnamon/nutmeg roasted butternut squash) and potatoes - yum and cooked just right! If you're hungry but not too hungry, skip the appetizers and go straight for the entrees!
google avatar

Glenn V.

Yelp
Food was amazing Live music, great guitar player with some great songs. Had the Buffalo brassed short ribs OMG SO GOOD. OLD-FASHIONS for drinks the best. Definitely a must while in Jacksonhole
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
Live entertainment, we were seated next to a fun group of locals, fantastic attentive service, delicious dinner! My elk entree was tender, flavorful and cooked perfectly! I requested the sauce of the side and I enjoyed it's smoky flavor with bits of bacon and mushroom. Kudos to the cooks. Great sides! My nephew thoroughly enjoyed the lamb chops that our waiter said was a favorite of many patrons. Our waiter was patient has we asked numerous questions about the local offerings - elk and bison.

J. Mark E.

Yelp
This was one of our favorite restaurants in Jackson. Unfortunately after it changed ownership the food quality is not the same. I had the coconut halibut and it was dry and tasteless. They now charge for bread and in the past it came with the meal. The stuffed mushrooms are still excellent and our waiter was friendly. The atmosphere on the deck is very nice with the guitar player. I wish the old management would come back...
google avatar

Lorrie W.

Yelp
Waiters are awesome, servings are small for price, onion soup has no flavor and cold, beef tenderloin over cooked, elk tenderloin good, desserts are good, bathrooms terrible for having the upscale pricing, marginal at best, lack of ambience and will be a while before I come back.
google avatar

Fast L.

Yelp
Overwhelmingly disappointing. All the food was acidic -lacking balance. The gnocchi over cooked, the famous lamb rank lacking any substantive flavor but smothered in bread crumbs. Brought in a bottle of wine -the waiter turned it upside down into a decanter (we had to request the decanter), and then did not pour the wine once throughout the evening. At least the staff was friendly.
