Wilda’s Brings All-Day Comfort Food to New Center in June | Eater Detroit

"Slated to open in June at the corner of Woodward Avenue and East Grand Boulevard in New Center, this affordable, all-day restaurant and bar aims to be family-friendly and casual. Co-owned by Lucy Peters with chefs Sopheana Duch and brothers Max and Eli Sussman, the team is converting a former pharmacy and beauty parlor into a roughly 60-seat space (50 in the dining room and 10 at the bar). The menu will focus on approachable sandwiches, salads, soups and bar items like wings; service will be full but relaxed, with customers marking paper menus that servers collect to allow staff to cover larger sections while the partners prioritize providing living wages. The interior draws on the co-owner’s great-grandmother’s Michigan farmhouse—using early 20th-century wallpaper motifs and Depression-era schoolteacher touches—to create a warm, home-like atmosphere. The project experienced an ownership change during development, and the team plans pop-up events at Frame in Hazel Park in March ahead of the late-spring debut." - Brenna Houck

Just moved in about a week ago, and I love this place so much! Antonio is very friendly and helpful, always solving my problems promptly. The apartment is just as advertised. High ceiling, clean, bright, and quiet. They also offer amenities such as a gym, club room, interior courtyard, etc. It is also nice that there is a coffee machine and printer. Gated parking structure directly connected to the building makes me feel safe. However, one of the issues I have is to find my packages in the mailroom. There are so many items packed up in the small room, so it takes long time to find my own packages. Additionally, the power is often cut off itself when I use a hair dryer, and I need to reset the tripped breaker to make it work again. Hope the management can improve these issues in some way. All in all, I still look forward to making this place my new home!

After being a tenant at The Boulevard Apartments for several years, I recently experienced a serious maintenance issue during a transitional period in management. That’s when Angie stepped in and completely exceeded my expectations. Her support and responsiveness made me feel more valued than ever before as a resident. Thanks to Angie’s leadership, I’ve witnessed a real shift in the environment—more cleanliness, helpfulness, and overall positivity. I genuinely love where I live, and I’m deeply grateful to everyone who contributes to creating such a great residential experience here. Thank you!!!!

My girlfriend lives in this building I’ve had a really bad experience living at this apartment complex with her. The management is extremely unprofessional, and the customer service is terrible. Maintenance workers have come into her apartment without any notice or permission, which is completely unacceptable and made her feel unsafe — especially as a woman being alone some nights. Getting in touch with management is almost impossible, and when you finally do, they’re dismissive or unresponsive and don’t take concerns seriously. The lack of communication and respect for residents here is unbelievable. If you’re looking for a place to live, I’d highly recommend looking elsewhere. This place needs major changes in how they treat their tenants.

This apartment complex is so nice! The girl who i went on tour with Shaina showed me the 1 bedroom . The work out roomis fully equipped, spacious and it has mirrors! Love that! The washer/dryer being inside the apartment is on my list as well as a the gym. The location is perfect, its close to my job. I loved the tour so much she was very sweet I'm looking forward to moving here.

I want to give a big shout out to Stephanie Jordan, one of their Property Managers. She was extremely helpful during a difficult time and went above and beyond to assist me! Being a resident here for three years, with other property managers who were not as helpful, she was a breath of fresh air!

Been living here 10 months Pros: building is luxury in regards to appliances, amenities etc. safe area. Nice staff. Cons: there is no system in place for packages. There is a package room however it’s only open during leasing office hours (Mon-Sat 9/10am- 6pm). Amazon will leave your package outside the building if the leasing office is closed. Obviously packages go missing. Leasing office is also closed for tours etc so getting your packages can be a hassle. There’s never a “will return” sign you’ll just go and the door will be locked. There is no system in place to allow guest into the building. There’s a call box outside but it does not work and has not worked since I moved in. Though it was stated this would be fixed. Elevator and door entrance requires key fob (great for security) however this could alleviate issues with packages being delivered if the call box worked or we could let our guest inside instead of waiting outside. trash is typically on the ground throughout the building. No cleaning crew on the weekend so trash will be there a few days. Will come back to update

I have lived at The Boulevard for 4 years now. During that time several issues have arisen that were either never addressed by Management, or were addressed with such a delay that it caused severe problems for residents. Some examples include, but are not limited to: (1) failure to fix security doors in the garage, install security cameras, provide 24/7 security guards or simply give the Detroit PD (whose station is on the SAME block) a pass to access the garage, leading to several (10+) motor vehicle break-ins over the course of several months; (2) refusal of maintenance team to perform general building maintenance, including checking pipes in the garage so they don't burst (like they did in 2024 after they were leaking for 2 weeks and no1 did anything) or regular checks of the two entrance doors (as we have had broken doors for weeks at a time on several different occasions which is a security risk); (3) refusal to clean the air vents / fans in the garage or units, which blow dirt and dust all over; (4) refusal of staff that works on-site daily to pick up trash strewn all over the property, dog poo left by other renters or to regularly clean the gym / BBQs / and other common areas; (5) failure to enforce any weight limit/restriction on dogs that can live on site (leading to safety concerns for other renters with smaller dogs); and, (6) the staff's complete and total lack of respect for residents (i.e. refusal to answer the phone when they are “busy” talking to their friends on speaker phone + other BS). Specifically, last Saturday, after the police were called to my residence, I requested the lock be change at my apartment on an emergency basis. Note, this is the ONLY emergency maintenance I requested during the time I have lived here. As of Monday at 1:00PM, I still have no response to my emergency request, even after I reached out to the new manager TWICE to explain how this is a safety concern! While this place is beautiful, the location is great and I love my apartment, I doubt I will be renewing my lease. For those reasons I do NOT recommend living at The Boulevard!

Since moving in, I’ve loved the boulevard. The leasing office personnel are lighthearted and help where they can. The maintenance goes above and beyond to make sure any issues are handled in a timely manner. Tamone is a very hard working man, from the daily maintenance, to working the emergency calls. He dedicates his time to making sure residents are safe and comfortable.
