I purchased bath plumbing hardware at The Brass Center. Due to many delays in our renovation they were not installed until more than a year later. I had problems with 2 of the fixtures. The manufacturer refused to do anything. Ampurito at the Brass Center went to bat for me with the mfg of the fixtures. I offered to pay if I had to. She said no an instead was able to get the replacements at no cost to me. I could not be happier with their service. Highly recommended

Individual homeowners can work through design professionals to access their extensive product lines, deep stock and vast expertise in all aspects of hundreds of hardware products. The Brass Center's busy well-trained staff is helpful and responsive, and will happily assist with special orders and technical problem-solving. Highly recommended.

This is a great one stop shopping place for all your Brass needs. Excellent personal customer service. 5 star service and same day delivery too.

great source for full size door hardware

Unbelievably overpriced.

The Brass Center is a treasured professional resource for home and commercial door, cabinetry, plumbing and other architectural hardware and related equipment, parts and products. Please disregard the negative Yelp reviews (which are old); despite its quirky storefront, it's important to know that this longstanding family-run business was established to sell to "the trade" -- that is, architects, designers and contractors -- and therefore, seldom retails directly to homeowners (large orders may be an exception). Beyond aesthetic choices, especially for mechanical hardware products (such as door locks) where few homeowners have the detailed technical background to specify exactly what they need, these customers should plan to research hardware options online and browse physical samples elsewhere. However, The Brass Center is fantastic when interacting as (or through) a designer or construction professional: they carry unusually deep stock, and offer catalogues and information on hundreds of item categories. The busy, well-trained, experienced staff is helpful and responsive, and maintains strong relationships with both large and specialty/niche manufacturers and suppliers. The store's highly expert senior managers are dedicated to serving their customers, and often can troubleshoot and solve problems that require unusual components or offer referrals to outside sources. The Brass Center can suggest products or special order for almost every need, and represents numerous product lines that aren't available from other local sources (or even, online). Let's hope this outstanding business will continue serving the NYC area and beyond for many years to come.

Great place for everything hardware and plumbing related. Sales staff are very helpful. I have never had any issues with them ever. Very email responsive if I have the need to contact them. I am in the Construction business and use them all the time.

THIS PLACE IS AWFUL. I dealt with 2 of the most awful human beings that I have ever had to speak with in my life. One of them was named Amparito Mostafa and she was rude, short, and completely unhelpful. I hope you readers never have to come in contact with her or one of her inept co-workers. They misplaced paperwork, which was somehow MY fault, for a 5 digit project and then gave me attitude. When I tried to resend the paperwork they just didn't respond. I am totally shocked that they are still in business with these horrendous people "working" there. They would be better off with a bunch of monkeys. I would have given this hell hole a negative rating if I could. DO NOT SHOP HERE! Go to one of the million other places that sell the same items. This is America Brass Center - clean up your act otherwise you'll be out of a job. Hey, if this doesn't work out you could always work at the DMV.

This business only gets one star, because Yelp won't let me give it less than that. Our company (a NON-profit, mind you), ordered a letterbox from them and when it was the wrong size, they refused to exchange it because they said it was a "special" order. At NO point did the salesperson inform me that it was considered a special order and therefore not eligible for exchange. The receipt itself only says "No refund. Store credit only." Nowhere does it say that you cannot return these "special orders" of theirs. When I spoke to the manager, her only response was to repeat that it could not be exchanged because it was a "special order." Nevermind the fact that the order took much longer to arrive than the original estimate I was given and when I called several times to check on it, my messages were not returned. The customer service at this place leaves a lot to be desired. It makes little business sense to alienate customers who were planning on using them for projects next year. We certainly will not be using them now. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere, anywhere else!

This place is terrible. I am a designer and primarily work with the trade so we use them frequently. Their customer service is atrocious and they often do not respond at all. Recently I arrived there 10 minutes after they closed, desperately needing assistance on a project. All of the sales associates were still inside and two looked right at me and ignored that I was outside the door. I continued to knock until one woman got up from her desk and came to the door. Even thought the help I needed would have taken two seconds she turned me away. For a high end hardware company this is terrible behavior. We spend way too much money with them to have them act so poorly. It's unfortunate that their sales associates can't be a great as their product.

I needed to find a towel rack for my new bathroom. I went to this store hoping that they would be helpful since this towel rack was obviously custom made and I would most likely order it from them. INSTEAD they are completely unhelpful in every aspect. Unless you are a) a contractor planning on spending a lot of money or b) an uptown lady who has nothing to spend her time on but to re do her bathroom, you most certainly not feel welcome here. They told me that I would have to drill new holes and it would be IMPOSSIBLE for them to help me. I've never had such a horrible experience. Do yourself a favor and go across the street to Waterworks. They are much nicer and helpful over there.

Horrible, horrible place. We are a design firm and we have the hardest time with them. No customer service, our salesperson sucks! they never get back to us and when we call they brush us off to an assistant who knows nothing and has to play detective on an issue they know nothing about b/c our sales person doesnt want to deal with the problem they have created.

These guys are great. Their business is primarily to the trade which may be why people aren't happy with the service. They have more options than anywhere and they are organized and efficient. I checked around after reading the negative reviews and ended up coming back because they were the only place to have what I needed.

This place is the worst business that I've ever dealt with in the design industry. No customer service, poorly trained sales people with no professional demeanor. Make a request to speak to accounting and expect to be placed on hold until you get tired of waiting and hang up. Call again and the same person who placed you on hold will tell you they are accounting and accuse you of hanging up. Requests are never met. Instead of addressing an unsatisfied customer professionally their sales rep will suggest meeting them later on in the street for a real fight. Dear Brass Center, you are not the only business in New York that offers hardware and fixtures. And if Yelp offers 1/16th of a star I might consider giving that but at the meantime I'll have to settle with being generous.

EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTING... Just concluded writing a lengthy email to Mark Glick, President of The Brass Center, to convey my extreme disappointment in the customer service offered by his establishment and in particular, by one of his customer service representatives Amparito Mostafa (also referenced negatively in reviews below, no surprise). In attempting to exchange an order, my husband and I were treated not only with complete disrespect but startling hostility. Regardless of the situation, no customer, big or small, deserves to be spoken to the way we were today. It appears their business is waning, and there is no surprise as to why. I would suggest they wake up and realize that they are not monopolistic owners of the hardware industry, and that customer service/ satisfaction is highly correlated to revenues. It is very unusual for one establishment to have amassed not only so many negative reviews, but specifically surrounding the same issue...customer service. Again, not their location, layout, technical knowledge, or quality/ depth of selection, their atrocious and unapologetic approach to customer service. I suspect they will get exactly what they deserve. Separately, as I brought these reviews to their attention in an attempt to substantiate my experience, I would not be surprised if we begin to see them become inflated. The response I received to my email was completely dismissive and included an irrelevant rant about how the Owner is being unfairly treated by progressives and the government. Wake up and smell the coffee, this is not one person's opinion. 10+ independent reviews have not been fabricated out of thin air.

Absolutely awful customer service. Took over a month to receive custom order that was supposed to take no more than a week. Finally received, but it was nothing near what I had ordered. Have been trying to reach someone there for past 10 days: telephones are out of order. Did they finally bite the dust? Not surprised.

The worst experience I have ever had trying to order hardware. My sales person's idea of customer service is to provide as little of it as is humanly possible. After spending a couple of months trying to work on a project with Robert, I finally threw in the towel and went somewhere else; to Katonah Hardware at 135 E 55th. This is a nice place with helpful staff. The loss of Kraft Hardware is a big blow to the design community on the UES . Would have given no stars if there was an option.

ZERO stars. I have renovated a NYC apartment. I have built a hamptons home from the ground up. Dealt with countless vendors and resources through the course of each of these projects. I have never in my life dealt with such ineptitude. Can't understand how they are still in business. They shouldn't be.
