Christine was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we sat down, she made us feel welcome and taken care of. She was incredibly attentive without being overbearing, offered great recommendations, and ensured everything was perfect throughout our meal. Her warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail truly set her apart. It’s rare to come across a server who makes such a positive impact on the dining experience, and Christine absolutely did. She deserves to be recognized for her outstanding service—The Brass Rail is lucky to have her! We’ll definitely be back and hope to sit in her section again.

I only stop in for drinks, I haven’t tried the food, I always see some entrees come out and they seemed delicious which is why I didn’t include that in my rating. I’ve been here a few times, I have a couple of proseccos and then I’m on my way. I’ve been served by a few bartenders, sometimes i come during the day, sometimes mid evening. I dress very casually, sweatpants and a sweater. For some reason I always feel judged, I feel looked down upon and I notice that the staff caters more towards people who look like they will spend more money. I’m personally a resturant owner, so this was disappointing. I am willing to come back for the convenience in proximity to where I am, but I just wanted this to be noted.

This is the place to go for a fancy yet affordable (pricey but on par with other restaurants) meal. The atmosphere here is timeless and classy. It’s hard to go wrong here. The French onion soup here is TO DIE FOR! Complimentary dinner rolls are also served here accompanied by butter. Also check out Heirloom Tavern in Glen Head!

Absolutely the best pasta in town. I just recently found this place and I’ve been going here the steak is phenomenal the wait staff and bar tenders are very attentive and the environment is very cozy anything you get here will be amazing

I have posted less-than-5-star reviews of the Brass Rail in recent months, primarily because the bar and the clientele had taken a dive. The last 2 times we were here, clearly they have taken efforts to improve the bar service and drink quality. Lindsay is a fantastic Add, bringing Value-Add over the horrific mess the bar here had become. The improvement you’ve made in the bar service and quality is noticed. I thank you. It was horrific for awhile there, but tonight (and last time) was fantastic.

This place was incredible, and the food was fantastic. The sangria is a must-try, and the octopus is definitely one of the best dishes on the menu. The service was also super friendly. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Looking for a restaurant on Long Island since we are from Florida and red the glowing reviews. Went with our kids, my brother-in-law, and our daughter-in-law's mother who are all New Yorkers. We were seated in the bar area in front of the dining room. I started with Blue Point Oysters on the half shell, very good. My wife ordered the soup du jour, Mushroom soup, just fair. For mains, my wife tried the Short Rib Quesadilla which she thought was ok. Being a duck fan and in Long Island, how could you not ordered the Seared Long Island Duck Breast, roasted black grapes, Brussel sprouts & pancetta, sweet potato puree, black grape & balsamic jus. Unfortunately i was disappointed.

Service: our waitress was very sweet. Food and drinks came out fairly quickly. She was awesome grabbing some crayons for our daughter when she was about to have a meltdown. The drinks were pretty good as well. I enjoyed my grilled chicken sandwich and the french fries were pretty good. My husband didn't enjoy his french toast. It is pretty small with an intimate atmosphere. There is a bar area then a sitting area separated by some stairs. Overall, it was good but I wouldn't rush back.

Nice brunch with good service and reasonable prices. Good for couples and families with children as well.

Buffalo Wings are nothing but breading with little meat. The lobster bisque was so salty my blood pressure spiked. Have to say would rather eat at Taco Bell at least I get what I pay for. Very disappointed

This place is a gem. It gives off a romantic ambience due to the dimly lit interior, great for a date night. The food is consistently delicious each time we come. My favorite dishes are: short rib quesadilla, tri color salad, sesame crusted scottish salmon, blackened mahi mahi, steak au poivre (one of my favorite steaks ever), and their homemade ice cream (seriously the best ice cream you'll have). Brass Rail is a must try restaurant, do NOT pass on the ice cream. Highly recommend.

Great food. Good service. Dinner rolls are baked fresh. Try the spare ribs as an appetizer. Fresh fish and great burgers. Chefs prepare everything great

Love this place ! Great cocktails and a great burger as well as great steaks. I started off with the tuna which was outstanding. Had a filet mignon for main which was cooked to perfection. My better half had a hanger steak which she also loved.

The corn soup special was nothing special. Loose and overly sweet with a microgram of lobster meet. This was a 5.00 soup not a 15.00 soup. Bartender asked if I was done because I had put it aside but didn't bother to ask why I only had three spoonfuls. Actually never asked me how any of my food was. Fish tacos - decent, too much pickled filler, fish was cooked well. The salad in the middle? Not sure what that was all about. Overall - underwhelming and for 40.00 felt like I got robed for a money grab soup and 2 tacos.

Wonderful! The Brass Rail hardly needs my help, but I love the place so much that I have to say something. Food is amazing, staff is great, and ambiance is ideal (for me, at least). It gets crowded at dinner, and I would suggest off hours. I like to eat at the bar, but that's my preference and even I'm flexible. Have a martini and some small plates, or a full dinner... either way you will be happy.

Our daughter was celebrating her birthday, so we decided to go to a local restaurant, the Brass Rail in Locust Valley, NY. We were greeted by the host who brought us to our table in the dining room. We had a round of drinks and all toasted our daughter for her birthday. The restaurant has a bar area and a dining room area. The bar area has some seating at the bar and several tables. Even though the bar was crowded it was not noisy. The lighting in the dining room was low, so you can have a quiet and enjoyable dinner. Some might say it's romantic! Our server, Christine, greeted us with big smile. We talked and drank our drinks without being rushed. We reviewed the menu which had quite an extensive selection of food. She came back and we ordered our entrees. My wife liked the breast of duck, my daughter liked the steak au poivre and French fries and my daughter's boyfriend and I like the crusted salmon with mashed potatoes. As we began to eat everyone commented how delicious the food was. The serving sizes were perfect and we were all satisfied that we had a wonderful and delicious meal. Locust Valley is a small hamlet on the north shore of Long Island. The Brass Rail is located in the Center of town with plenty of parking for their customers. We all enjoyed our meals and the restaurant experience. If you love great food, great service and enjoy a great night out, you will love the Brass Rail. Next time you want to go to friendly restaurant try the Brass Rail, you will not be disappointed. Stay safe and keep healthy. Eat well!

We love this place. The menu is always solid, the food is always consistently delicious, dine in is lovely.

This is a gem. The service and food cannot be beat. Pete, the waiter, suggested the lamb chops wu style and wow, really was incredible. My wife had the lobster capellini, I had the halibut. Split a great bottle of Honig Cabernet, and finished with the most amazing bread pudding. Pete was not only extremely knowledgeable about the seafood and where it was sourced, but laid out the meal like it was a dining experience. Can't wait to come back. Well done brass rail. We will be back!

This place is VERY good! If you enjoy oddball furnishings, this establishment has an interesting very old bar. (Which makes absolutely no difference if you are looking for a great meal.) It has a pleasant ambiance, which will NOT fill your stomach.

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Unfortunately not anymore. I have never given a bad review before. Went for brunch today and there was one person working the whole front of the house. He was host,bartender, server,and busboy. I'm sure the owner had him washing dishes too. The meal was adequate but not as described on the menu. Don't understand why the place was so understaffed. Will be a long time before I consider a return

I am shocked that brass rail does not have a five star rating. I've been there many times at least 15 times a year never had a bad meal.

Stopped in to The Brass Rail for lunch, we were working in the neighborhood for a client and this was a local recomendation so we decided to stop in. I was happy to see that this restaurant is owned by the same people who run The Wild Goose in Port Washington, which I had a great dinner date at a few months back. We came in for an early lunch, the outside had not been setup yet, so we went inside and was happy to see essentially the whole place to ourselves! Beautiful decor, nicely put together tables, classy music playing, full bar, and extensive menu to choose from. We ended up getting The Spicy Pea Soup, which was delicious, and I got a Cesar Salad with a Chicken Dish to go with it, my dad got the French Dip which he enjoyed very much. Definitely recommend for people who are in the neighborhood!

Casual and fun atmosphere. Great for kids but also great for couples! The food is always delicious and the staff is knowledge and attentive!

Oh those matchstick French Fries! Delicious!! I have never had them this good before! The Shrimp and Oyster Po Boy was absolutely delicious, perfect spiciness, and the roll was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We went for lunch on a rainy day and there was a nice crowd. The service was helpful but not overly attentive - but that was ok. A delicious meal in a nice atmosphere. It was worth the trip!

Excellent food and great service. We have had several meals there and have not been disappointed. The selections are great. From the appetizer to the dessert, everything is delicious. The wait staff and the manager are attentive and on point. This restaurant has become one of our regular choices for dining.

NYC vaccine mandates have put a damper on those of us that are not vaccinated. Nassau county is now our go to dining region. Made reservations ( outdoors available only ) on a early Saturday afternoon. Seated promptly, friendly waiter Peter quickly expedited our food order. Octopus appetizer was a bit spicy for me yet still delicious. Kale/quinoa salad was a nice cool refreshing dish for the palate after wards. The burger with fries was filling. The restaurant got increasing busy as the day turned into night. We would have loved to have stayed longer, enjoying a little sweet treat under a beautiful night sky. I can see why this place is busy. A gem.

The wait staff was extremely friendly and nice. I think the restaurant is definitely very aesthetic and visually pleasing however, it is way too dark. I understand dimmed mood lighting but this was just like absurd, it was almost impossible to read the menu without a flashlight on. The pomegranate mule was fantastic and I highly recommend, I think it could've used a regular sized mule glass with a little bit more of the mixer because it mainly tasted a little too alcoholic for a mule. The fried burrata (i'm not sure if it was a special i think it was) was absolutely to die for and I would highly recommend adding it to the menu. The little neck baked clams were unfortunately not worth it. There were only 5 little little clams which tasted very undercooked and fishy unlike many other baked clams. The lobster capellini was delicious however, all of the seafood was overcooked. When ordering something like that I think it's imperative to not overcook it but I don't know if that was an overall issue or just my plate especially. I think it was more of a faster service and could have been slowed down a little. I would recommend going here for fancier occasions or date nights since it is on the pricier side but overall it was so much fun!

Everything was undercooked. Been here a few times but it's starting to slip. Not sure if they changed the people in the kitchen but we ordered steaks and requested medium well. They came out rare. Didn't send the food back but what a shame. Last time we came they took our order and then came back out from the kitchen 10 minutes later to tell us they were out of filet mignon for the night. Honestly disappointing.

Where do I begin.... We had an 8:30pm reservation to celebrate Valentines Day dinner. It took 25+ minutes to be seated despite the fact that the table we ultimately sat at was already turned over and ready for the majority of that time. Service was unfriendly and gave a weird remark when we requested non-alcoholic beverages. Appetizers were decent and came out quickly (one positive!) Here is where things go really downhill. Our entrees come out and we requested another round of drinks at that point in time. The waitress literally never returned to our table thereafter. Service: -No check in to see if we were content with the food or needed anything (we did!) -Never returned with the drinks until we flagged down the maître d' after being frustrated with having empty water glasses for the duration of the entree (WTF!). They also promised that they would take care of the round of drinks, and then proceeded to put them on our bill anyway. -We had to practically beg for our check to leave, again because apparently to this establishment we as customers do not exist once the main course is served Food: The food was ok. I ordered the steak au poivre and found the peppercorn flavor to be overwhelming/unbalanced. My fiancé ordered the skirt steak which I thought was a bit better. At this price level we were somewhat disappointed. Needless to say we didn't have a great experience and will be recommending our network to steer clear for one of the zillion other great restaurants in the area.

This place made it through the pandemic and during that time offered family take out options that were so dang good and reasonably priced. I'm so glad they survived the storm and are back in action. There have been a few menu changes and price increases but that to be expected given life at the moment. Things to try: Artichokes Jalapeño Cheddar burger - keep the shoestring fries Calamari Mahi mahi Mushroom risotto Check out the new cocktail menu and get their homemade sorbets!

I enjoy the good food and beer selection. They have Great service and reasonably priced menu.

My new favorite restaurant on Long Island. Food / service / ambiance are all on-point. Five star cuisine in an unpretentious space with charming and efficient staff. Highly recommend. Will definitely be returning over and over .

An old time favorite! The food, Service and ambience is always good. You really can't go wrong with anything you order here. The small plates are not really small and the dessert is delicious. If you haven't been here before it's a must try & you won't stop coming back.

First time dining here and it was a pleasant experience. The dishes that we ordered were all delicious, especially the Lamb and creamy risotto. I will definitely return to this location as i'm now curious how their dinner menu fairs to what we indulged in.

Good local bar. Food was great. Service was ok. Went for brunch and the food was fresh and flavorful. Unfortunately won't go back for brunch. We sat next to a family with the iPad blaring loudly to keep the children quiet. So loud we couldn't hold a conversation. Maybe a late dinner would be better.

Very good food! Usually very good service. Nice ambiance. The place is not cheap, but it is pretty consistently worth the expense for a nice dinner... The only thing I will not be going back for is the Sunday brunch. The brunch portions were small and the prices were too high. I will stick to dinners then! :-)

My wife and I arrived at the Brass Rail last night. WE sat at our table and tried to read the menu. The brightest light was the single candle on the table. With so little light we couldn't read the menu so we left. If you go bring a flash light!

Prior to coming here, after reading some of the negative reviews, I was quite worry today about our first visit may turning into a disaster. Hooray! Hooray! Hooray! My worry became totally unnecessary! We had a very pleasant lunch here today. The food was all so delightful and scrumptious. We ordered crusted halibut with lightly sautéed spinach and baby boy Choi, linguini in clam sauce, fish&chip, salad and burger. My halibut was super fresh, lightly pan seared. I absolutely loved they prepared the fish in light olive oil rather than thick butter! The food temperature was so welcoming. WAIT! I was so indulging in my lovely halibut....All the sudden, my pallets alarmed me with some "special protein" a long soft yet strong hair! It was mingled with spinaches! I could not believe it! I wasn't upset or anything in a negative way. I kept quite and liberated the hair from spinaches. I put it on the table and continued on my pleasure pallets trip.... WAIT! AGAIN, a tiny protein jumped out into my mouth again:(((( now I had a bit struggling if I should tell the hostess. The hostess was not around at the moment, the assistant waiter came forward and without a question, he politely took the plate away and offered me a new replacement. Wow, that's classic! And he was very detail-oriented because he saw I scrambled all the crusts on to the side of my plate so he asked if I did not like the crust he could give me a halibut without crusts. I liked that suggestion. After 10minutes, my nice warm new halibut came back to me.... I tried my family member s fish n chip, salads, a bite of burger and a little linguini in clam sauce too. They were all so flavorful yet not greasy! I am a super health conscious weirdo:))) I DO NOT like anything that s greasy, salty or sugary. And Brass Rail was the perfect match! Thank you! The service was on the spot. No more no less. Just perfect! Too bad I did not ask our hostess s name but she was courteous and refreshing. Thank you! This place would be a very nice place for family gatherings or any celebrations. It is very clean and my kind of sitting, simply and elegant and not overly doing anything. At last but not the least, the lighting is superb！ it definitely enriched our experience.

First off, the food here is super good! If your a fan of chicken then get the chicken club, you're going to love it so much mostly because everything on it just works so well together. They have a lot of options besides chicken but, if you decide not to play it safe and boring and get chicken they have a lot of fish dishes on the menu! Now the service is pretty good, not much to say it's pretty standard for a restaurant and the ambiance is somewhat dim and dark, although you often feel comfy and warm inside after taking a bite of your food. Overall, I recommend the Brass Rail as a fan of wonderful and diverse options of food, but if your a chicken you can still order some poultry!

Best bartender! Best burger : Jalapeño- cheddar burger. My go-to dish is chicken paillaird. My family loves the French dip. Best dessert - key lime pie.

Brass Rail is an all rounder good restaurant. That being said a fresh updated menu would be so welcome. Similar to most of the better restaurants on The North Shore The Brass Rail has an ol' faithful neighborhood clientele. The menu remains the same. We would love to see some of the New Brooklyn food make its debut on the island. Come on folks lets try something new

So I'm writing a 10 star review on a place that has nothing but exceptional personal service every time I go .Christine was our server today and she remembered our drinks from six months ago when we came(mind blown ) the manager was extremely accommodating especially with my two-year-old child who can't sit still and throws everything on the floor...... i've been coming here about 15 years.. this chemistry can never be duplicated no matter how many big restaurant conglomerates spent millions trying to copy ... places like this are rare and good service is even more rare.... Every single thing on the menu is awesome and the ambience is very relaxed.... I'm in Locust Valley with a Glencove budget but I still feel important..... keep killing it brass rail. Mucho love
