"At Bread & Board, freshly baked bread forms the foundation of an ever-changing menu inspired by the owner’s international travels. The light-flooded restaurant is where people often sit and linger while enjoying lunch or reading a book. The unique sandwich board is a highlight on the menu, which deconstructs the classic sandwich into a customizable charcuterie-style spread. For a true taste of the South, try the crispy Cajun catfish board, served with rolls, shredded lettuce, pickles, and a zesty sauce." - Megan duBois

"The Bread and Board has quickly become a Jacksonville favorite with two locations on different sides of town and one more in the works. The Riverside neighborhood location offers outdoor picnic table seating with string lights for a casual nighttime hangout. And while there, don’t miss the buttermilk chicken board, which is its take on a fried chicken sandwich that is deconstructed and served on a charcuterie board." - Megan duBois

Enjoyed sharing an applewood ham & brie board here before heading to the Moran Theater for a show in downtown Jacksonville. We did not have reservations but blabbed a seat at the counter by the window. Food was really good but my drink was forgotten and we had to ask for silverware and plates. So service was a little off but our server was nice and did finally get us sorted. Recommend reservations for sure. The Brussels were a bit hard.. not cooked completely but the flavor was really good. The crowning victory however were the beignets.. holy French smokes these little bites are so very very good… definitely will return for just those!

Loved this place! It’s spacious and bright, and they have lots of treats and trinkets for sale including a flower and candle shop. The sandwiches were amazing. We had the chicken salad which was great, but the meat board was the highlight with the softest, most savory herb rolls. The cherry smoked ham was our favorite, and we were impressed by the real, fresh Turkey slices…not what you get at even a gourmet deli. It was like Thanksgiving leftovers. The beef was very good, too, I just don’t usually eat roast beef. The aioli and mustard sauces were delicious, too. They have unusual sandwich creations that seem worth trying, and the large boards are definitely enough for two…I’d just get an extra roll. Definitely coming back when we pass through Jacksonville. I hope they bring one to Miami!

Google
Unexpected Board presentation of sandwiches which is basically deconstructed elements(we should have done more investigation before visiting). Very expensive but enough food for two people in 1 dish although the "bread" is very small. 2 very small Hawaiian roll style buns(in comparison to the large portions of meats/chicken) that are not as flavorful as they look..similar to school cafeteria rolls. Fries were very good, crispy and fresh cut and plenty for two people to share in single $6 side order. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice seating area (order at counter and food brought to your table) with large window views to downtown Jacksonville. Better value options in the area for lunch.

Google
Such a fantastic little place in downtown JAX. They have a few different counters you can go to for coffee, cocktails, pastries, sandwiches, boards, and more. It’s more of a sit down vibe in the evening, too, if you’re looking for that as well but during the day it’s counter service. Food was delicious and fresh, portions were huge, staff was friendly and accommodating, and the place was clean and set up like a cozy little coffee shop. I had the Cordon “Lou” with their house made rosemary chips (yum) and the hush puppies. All of it was tasty and so much food. I will definitely be back!

I recently dined at Bread and Board with my team, and we had a fantastic experience! The restaurant had a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or colleagues. We started off with their Signature Wings, and they were simply outstanding! The chicken wings were perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The flavorful seasoning added a delightful kick, making them a must-try for any wing enthusiast. Next up, we indulged in the Crispy Cajun Fried Fish. The fish fillets were cooked to perfection, with a golden and crispy coating that added a satisfying crunch. The Cajun seasoning infused the dish with a spicy and savory flavor that tantalized our taste buds. It was a true seafood delight! To complete our seafood feast, we also ordered the Fried Shrimp. These succulent and plump shrimp were expertly fried to achieve a crispy texture while retaining their natural sweetness. The accompanying dipping sauce provided a tangy and zesty contrast, enhancing the overall enjoyment. Throughout our meal, the service was top-notch. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They ensured our dining experience was seamless and enjoyable, making us feel welcome and well taken care of. Bread and Board exceeded our expectations with their delectable food and excellent service. If you’re a seafood lover or a fan of deliciously seasoned wings, this is definitely the place to go. Don’t miss out on the Signature Wings, Crispy Cajun Fried Fish, and Fried Shrimp—they are simply mouthwatering! We can’t wait to return and try more of their enticing menu options.

Take out lunch for two around noon. Ordered 2 sandwiches with a side for each - $40. Staff was not friendly during brief interaction picking up food. Food was not what is represented in photos on the website, therefore extremely overpriced. Lacking in flavor and freshness and not properly packaged for a to-go order. I threw most of mine away. Was excited to finally try this restaurant and seems they are now going downhill. I will include photos of what I expected versus what I received.

Google
Lovely staff, amazing food & fair price. Chicken, Fish, Pork, Bread.. everything is just absolutely perfectly cooked. House bread is my fav. Portions of food is humongous. Parking is right outside. Beautifully cooked food every time. Variety of sides & everything is super delicious. Update: Apple maps take you to old location so here is the gps coordinates (30.3265255, -81.6596409) This is a brand new place, super modern & innovative. Food quality is still the same. Its brilliant, they have so many sitting available inside, beautiful interior & their sodas are delicious. (not regular sodas like coke, Dr Pepper etc) they have fancy sodas, must try! Prices are pretty much same. New Tap room, with so many beers on Tap & great wine collection. Parking is street parking (paid meters) 2$ per hour/ 2 hr max.

Google
I went to this place when they first opened and it wasn’t the best food, service, or prices. Now… it’s worth it. Their menu offers a variety of selections with the portions being quite big. The pricing I think fits with the amount of food given. Overall good food!

Yelp
If you're looking for something out of the ordinary not your typically chain restaurant, this is the spot. Unique menu with about anything worth trying. Everything was amazing, fresh, and customer service was awesome. My fav was the Monte Cristo! In the back they have a beautiful flower shop, coffee shop and wine/beer selection to take home and a little shop. Give this place a go, you won't be disappointed

Yelp
Bread and Board, downtown Jax Visit Details: 4 top (3 adults + a baby). On the weekends, they have an extra brunch menu (not on the menu boards, so make sure you ask if you're interested). Ordered at the counter and they couldn't tell me if the coffee could be decaf, so I had to place a separate order at the provision/cafe counter. Service for the food was decently quick, but the kids meal came out almost 10 mins after the adults and was too hot to handle, by the time it had cooled, he had already snacked on ours enough that he was full. The food itself was very flavorful and portions were enough for two meals. Knowledge of the menu/timeliness would leave me choosing this as a to go option next time. Summary: future to go visit Price: $$ Location: 3/5 Service: 2/5 Menu: 5/5 @foodiexperiences on Instagram or Facebook for the full review

Yelp
Fantastic place for a meal before seeing a show. We came up to Jacksonville to see Hadestown and I was looking for something close by - this is less than a five minute walk to the theater. So we parked in one of the garages and went for an early dinner, around 4:30/5:00. The place wasn't too crowded, but it was Super Bowl Sunday and they close at 6:00 pm Sundays anyway so that made sense to us. The dining area is bright, airy, and modern. We were seated and given ice water quickly. My only knock on this restaurant is the Pepsi products. So I opted for water today rather than soda. Service was efficient. I ordered the brisket salad and my husband got the Cordon Lou chicken board, full sized. The portions are MASSIVE. My salad could've been half the size it is and I would've been happy with that, since that's about how much I was able to eat. It comes with a wonderful jalapeño ranch - which is spicy enough to be interesting but not overpowering. The sweetness of the brisket offers a great counterpoint in flavor to the dressing which I loved. This was probably one of my favorite salads I've ever had. My husband's chicken was moist, well seasoned, and the rosemary rolls are to die for - I snagged some nibbles of those. If they sold them to go I'd have grabbed some for the road, they are so tasty! This would be a fun place to come hang out with friends while getting some great food at the same time.

Yelp
This is such a cool spot downtown! I had no idea how huge this business was. I went for the first time recently for a meeting and was able to easily park in the vystar tower parking garage. I walked in on the side of the building that was called Provisions, and they had a huge flower arrangement area plus a cute coffee shop and other specialty pantry items for sale. On the other side of the space is the Bread and Board restaurant, where you can order lunch or dinner, sandwiches, salads, boards etc. I started with an iced sparkling americano and I noticed it was made with tonic water instead of club soda which to be honest I did not love. I saw him pouring it and was excited to try it since I had never had it that way, but I would definitely prefer it with regular sparkling water in the future. We both had trouble connecting to the free guest wifi. When we got up to order lunch, I noticed a sign that had the password for their other wifi network, so I think that was just a user error. I went with the orange shrimp salad for lunch with the dressing on the side. My guest got a chicken salad sandwich with a side salad. The prices are definitely reasonable and the portions are large! However, my salad was mostly just romaine lettuce. The shrimp were delicious and maybe next time I would try them on a sandwich or something a little bit more substantial. But, the salad was still good. The space is beautiful and this is definitely the spot for business people having lunch downtown. As long as I can connect to the WI Fi next time I definitely look forward to making many more visits here for co working days. The staff were over the top friendly. Very, very nice people!

Yelp
I came here once on my lunchtime, when I worked downtown. I only have thirty minutes for lunch, so-I just ordered a drink. It was very busy and a little overwhelming and overpriced in my eyes. But, it's a great place to dine and hang out, if you have time. Great location and customer service.

Ree T.

Yelp
I went here for brunch while on a trip. When you walk in the vibe is light and casual. The service is cool too. You go to the counter and place your order and they bring out to the seat you have chosen. They have one vegan meal on the menu. It was really tasty. The mimosa was good and my first drink which had a sweet name was really sweet. They can pretty much make you what you want to drink as well.

Fay W.

Yelp
Love bread & board! Their food is delish and it's a cool spot to hang. I absolutely love that Alewife has a spot inside because that is one of my 5points favorites! I think this is a really unique spot downtown and always a favorite to visit. I recommend the Applewood ham + Brie sandwich it's delicious (get it hot) and if you get a drink from alewife the peach walk cocktail is so refreshing! They also have a coffee bar and their chai tea is wonderful! Definitely one of my favorite downtown spots especially since there is so much inside to enjoy! This place really has something for everyone. Check it out if you haven't!

Yelp
My husband and I both had the blue cheese hamburgers and fries. Absolutely fabulous, very fresh and very generous portions. Service was great. Atmosphere was great. On the down side if you are a coke product lover they only have Pepsi products. lol

Yelp
We had a good meal with rough service here on a somewhat uncrowded Friday night for dinner. To start off, three happy hour drinks, 1 appetizer, and 2 entrees came to just under $100 -- the caveat being that one of the entrees was the steak frites, although the fried shrimp (which had no side dish) was a rather costly $21, too. We started off with the hush puppies, which were the dinner's food highlight! They came out pretty quickly -- beating our first round of drinks (there was only one bartender, and almost every table was ordering drinks due to it being Happy Hour) -- and were seasoned and cooked well. It was a hearty serving size of 7, too. "Hearty" portions were the theme of the night. I ordered the shrimp "banh mi", while my husband got the aforementioned steak frites. The shrimp were fried and coated in a sweeter sauce and served on top of coleslaw. Two herbed rolls were served on the side alongside pickles and mayo. The shrimp were great, but the serving size was HUGE -- I think there were nearly 20 on my plate? The slaw was great, too. The rolls, surprisingly, were just OK. They were a type of herbed dinner roll and a bit on the dry side. My husband ordered his steak without the sauce and thought that was likely the reason it tasted a bit underseasoned but said the sear and temperature were great. We also enjoyed the martini-style drinks for Happy Hour. Their Mai Tai-esque one was a particular standout. The big issue was service. Our server was friendly, but he basically disappeared after our first round of drinks arrived. A different server brought our entrees, and we had to flag down another one after we'd be done with our meals for 15 minutes to request the check. She not only brought us the check but ended up running it for us, too. We only saw our server again when he came over upon seeing her deliver the card back to us. Not sure what happened there. Overall, it's a little pricier than I expected for dinner, but I'll definitely keep it in mind the next time I'm downtown.

Yelp
Looks are definitely deceiving at Bread & Board. Our " show gals" group as we call it are always trying new spots near the FSJC for our pre theatre dinner. Upon arrival our party of 6 ( with reservations) walked into what looked like a cafeteria style eatery where the menu was up front on a sign & people were ordering at the counter & given a #. It looked a little disappointing at first & kind of lacked the ambiance we were looking for however, things improved once we sat down. We mentioned our res. & were seated promptly. We were given printed menus as well as a drink menu inspired by Six The Musical the show we were going to attend. It was such a great surprise which really enhanced the beginning of a special evening. We ordered Red, Pink & Blue drinks ( see pics of drinks & menu) All were served in martini glasses & we toasted to the start of a great night. Our server was very helpful about recommendations on the menu. She was new & we could not tell from her professionalism. We started with fried okra which everyone shared & enjoyed. It was slightly battered and not too heavily fried. We also ordered hush puppies which were done just right as well. Our entrees came out within reasonable time and they were large, definitely enough to share. Even the half boards were ample. One person in our party order the shareable cheese plate. The only complaint was that it didn't come with any crackers. All the boards are served with 2 rolls. for the cheeseboard rolls were not the kind of thing that goes well with cheese and nuts and we all agreed they should really switch it up and serve it with some sort of crackers. The fried chicken was lightly fried and not too bready. The shaved beef was a huge portion & quite tasty. The shrimp were just ok as the batter was a dry cornmeal & not much Asian flavor. Overall, everyone really enjoyed their entrees. The portions were large and the prices were extremely reasonable. The service was attentive and swift. This gave us enough time to relax & chat before we had to leave for our show around the corner. Everyone in our party commented that this was our favorite restaurant so far in the area and we have been to a few. ( see my other reviews for the restaurants in the area. ) As a sidenote, you do not have to have a reservation but it did get pretty busy by 6:30 on a weekday evening. Also, they have a nice bar with high tops. On the night we were there it was roped off for a private event which looked fun. Over all, all six of us started off the evening very pleased on our night to Six The Musical.

Haden J.

Yelp
Had a late night dinner and the place was pretty empty. we got great service and the atmosphere was relaxed. Had the crispy fish which was super flavorful. Went with plain fries instead of sweet potato. Also had the warm olive plate and hush puppies . hush puppies are among the best we have had. Olive plate was what was expected, no major drills. There was more than enough food for the 2 of us and we took some home. Prices we It was after 8 when we finished.

Cee L.

Yelp
I absolutely love Bread and Board. The food is great, the staff are friendly, I would have given 5 stars except the staff are typically ALL OVER THE PLACE. Bartender is always late and everyone else is always scrambling, trying to determine who's scheduled to work and where they are assigned again, nice, just a bit sloppy. I'll continue to enjoy Bread and Board as often as I can.

SteveandCasey C.

Yelp
I had heard that they had a special martini menu in honor (celebration?) of the musical "Six" that was in town, so convinced my friends to eat here before the show. While the food was great and our server was fantastic, some of us never got our specialty drinks that we ordered. Only one drink out of 4 made it to our table before our meal was more than half way through. We finally cancelled the last two drinks after we finished eating so we could cash out and leave. That was very disappointing. If you are going to promote specialty drinks, be able to timely serve them.

Evan R.

Yelp
All the meats! My family stopped here while we were traveling through Jacksonville this summer and it was well worth the stop. Everyone in my family enjoyed their meals and my wife and I were able to split an Italian board between the two of us and still have leftovers. Your order at the counter and they bring your food out pretty quickly so it was a perfect quick pit stop for lunch.

Nguyen L.

Yelp
Excellent service. Spacious spot. Every last individual i encountered was nice. Says a lot. Fish, collards, grits, and hush puppies were excellent. Chicken sandwich was good but wouldn't get it again.

Lisa K.

Yelp
Delicious quick service spot. Portions are huge, so consider sharing or be ready to bring home Leftovers. I ordered a falafel type sandwich and it was amazing. My daughter is a sucker for a fried chicken sandwich and she loved that as well. They have a little something for everyone and it was very quick, so it's a perfect lunch or casual dinner spot. I'd love to come back and try more of the menu.

Jay B.

Yelp
I recently visited Bread & Board with high hopes, but unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations. The smothered chicken dish was disappointingly small in portion size, leaving me unsatisfied. To add to my disappointment, the pricing for the lemonade I ordered was different from what was listed on the menu, which felt unfair. Moreover, the tap water had an unpleasant taste, which was quite off-putting. On a positive note, my companions had a better experience, but I couldn't overlook the inconsistencies in my own visit. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and makes necessary improvements to provide a more consistent and enjoyable dining experience for all customers.

Rebecca H.

Yelp
I was in town for a pastor's conference and The Bread & Board was the only place, aside from the hotel, that was open for lunch. We all pretty much ended up there for lunch on Sunday and packed out the place. Our server was amazing and took great care of us! The food was excellent. For as packed as the restaurant was, we had very few issues and our server was quick to make sure they were resolved. We had the Sunday brunch menu to order from. The food was excellent! I could live on the grits alone! Oh. My. Word. They were so good! The classic ham Benedict was bigger than I thought it would be. It came with the side of greens. It was all good - just A LOT of food! You definitely get your bang for your buck at The Bread & Board. The service was excellent and the food was amazing!

Emmaline F.

Yelp
The food was great (very large portions, will be eating for 3 meals at least) I love the local options. Reminded me of some Seattle vibes a little bit. Definitely will go back!

Allana H.

Yelp
Great place to stop for a bite to eat. Family friendly atmosphere is peaceful. Amazing flavors with fresh ingredients. I have tried the shrimp sandwich huge portions full of shrimp and love the slaw. Also the fried green tomatoes sandwich is a must try. Especially for first timers.

Doug C.

Yelp
This was our 3rd time coming to Bread and Board. The two previous visits we ordered at the counter. This time, we made a reservation 2 weeks prior, so we could have a Server take our order. We received confirmation of our reservation. When we arrived, the two girls working the front looked lost! The bottom line was there was not a Server for our party of 4. My question to you is why did I receive confirmation from the restaurant 30 min prior that you would be seeing me soon?? Very disappointed with the evening, especially since we talked the place up to friends! You need to fix this!

Steve O.

Yelp
Nice place to eat if you are downtown on a Saturday night. Attended a party here and was very impressed. Not a dress up place, most people were wearing Southern casual. As you can see from the menu, some unique food creations. I had the chicken salad which had lots of chicken and deli sliced roast beef with dipping sauces. The mixed salad was tasty as well. On the down side the desserts were lacking. The custard bars were overcooked, while the chocolate chip brownie bars were very undercooked. They have a cocktail bar and a coffee bar. The staff was young but very attentive and hard working. The restaurant was very clean. Given the dearth of restaurants downtown thanks to the city leveling the Landing and Fountain areas into vacant lots, this is a great choice.

Amanda F.

Yelp
1. Ambiance - This is a super cute spot. The interior design in impeccable with a light blue/white/green distressed farmhouse style. The bar area is also super cute! They serve wine & beer even though it's not on the menu. There are some overpriced flowers for sale throughout the shop. You have to order at the front (unless you reserve a table, I think). 2. Service - Zoe(y?) was our server. She was pretty nice to begin and asked us if we had ever been there before. We told her how it's our first time and she proceeded to hype up their rosemary rolls about 3-4 times before we ordered our food. As a bread-lover, I was excited...we'll get to that later. My friend had to use the restroom, and couldn't find it. She came back and sat down and asked our server where the RR is, to which Zoe replied "it's right there it's not that hard." The restroom is UNLABELED, and difficult to find as I had to ask someone at the back of the store when I went myself after the previous ordeal (where there's another counter to order things?) and she pointed me to the correct hallway. Another weird thing to note: my friend who is 32 lives in Georgia and got questioned about her ID. She does look young but all the rest of us are younger and she served us no problem...maybe because we have FL IDs but it was just strange - her tone and vibe. 3. Food - The moment you've been waiting for: THE FOOD. First of all, we went on a Thursday at 5:30pm. When we arrived, barely anyone else was in the store. My friend is a vegetarian and ordered the "Three Cheese Plate." Well, she tried. Apparently they were out of that along with pinot grigio, many different drink syrups (specifically for the mirror ball and one other drink we tried to order), cheese(???), and THE FAMOUS ROSEMARY ROLLS. I specifically ordered what I did so that I got the rolls with it and she assured me they will come with what I ordered. Then she brings out my food and alas, they're out of rolls. I will never go here again. Please adjust your inventory for future guests.

Yelp
Came on a Sunday afternoon. Free street parking right outside and across the street on the weekends. Service/ambiance: 4.5/5 helpful cashier, decent explanation of menu. Interior is thoughtfully decorated with fall decor. Plenty of seating/tables Presentation: 4.5 out of five, when you order a sandwich, it does not come on a board. Food: 3.5 out of five. Ordered the viet sticky shrimp banh mi. Sandwich was flavorful, but not worth ordering again. Salad was over dressed, vinegarraette overpowered the fresh greens; could not finish the salad for this reason. Value: 3.5/5. average quantity for what you'd expect for a sandwich and side salad. I'll probably try a deconstructed menu item next time

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
Decided to try this spot today before going to the game, found it by recommendation here on Yelp and it did not disappoint. There were 4 of us and we were hoping for a brunch menu which wasn't posted on their menu board where you order but they did have one printed (we just saw it too late) - so I would say ask if you go on a Sunday. We ordered fried okra starter (delicious) a meat board, ham and Brie sandwich, the Italian sandwich and a chicken sandwich. Everything came out relatively quickly and HUGE portions. Plenty of food and probably could have shared as none of finished it all completely. Total agreement that everything tasted great! Server was very attentive and friendly as well. This is a definite spot to revisit next time we visit Jax. 10/10 recommend!

John M.

Yelp
Very nice deli/restaurant downtown on Bay Street. You arrive at a counter, place your order and find a table. Your meals are brought to you by a very friendly staff member. Soft drinks and water a available adjacent to the dining area. Additionally, Alewife Bar (an excellently stocked bar) is located on one side of the dining area where you can purchase grown up beverages. In all a very nice place for some very eclectic sandwiches and sides.

Andrew F.

Yelp
Had an 11:30 reservation with theater tickets around the corner for 1. Ordered drinks, 4 entrees, and sides almost immediately after we sat down. Drinks came quickly and waitress disappeared. Waited 30 mins before an order of hush puppies came to the table. Even more for fries. 2 Chicken breakfast sandwiches came at 12:30. The last two entrees (fish and then pancakes) came separately many mwith the latter arriving as we had to leave for the show. Took a box for the uneaten pancakes. I'd add the the fish and grits arrives with an overflowing plate, so much so that it spilled into the table and lap and floor as it was put down. Nice portions; but grits on flat plate isn't so smart. Can't really comment on quality of the food as we all scarfed rather than ate.

Solveig S.

Yelp
I would NOT get the charcuterie board. There's more dried fruit than there is cheese and no meat. However, you can't go wrong with any of the boards and the salads. The boards are A LOT OF FOOD though so you could split one board between 2 people. Deff recommend the Fried Chicken board if you're into that sort of thing

Terrie S.

Yelp
Bright Airy Cheerful I don't remember the names of the dishes, but we had: chicken fingers with fries, salad with pork, and a deconstructed chicken cordon bleu sandwich. Everything was soooo good, and portions were enough for taking some home! Cute, albeit a little pricey, store plus a coffee bar and booze bar. It's definitely a must try if in downtown Jacksonville.

Wendy B.

Yelp
The food was excellent, we had the 'full board' which is great for 2 people! We had chicken sharma-style which came with two 4 oz. Chicken breasts that were marinated and topped with bruschetta style tomatoes and chickpeas. Served with 2 homemade rolls and tzatziki sauce. Overall it was excellent! My only suggestion is provide plates with the board for guests. We also got 2 cookies which were a perfect way to finish the meal. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Fernando S.

Yelp
30 minutes after seating I had to ask who our server was. Every server looked our way but none wanted to serve us. Total time waiting 45 minutes. We walked out. I should note. Place was not busy. I do NOT recommend.

Lindsy R.

Yelp
First time eating here while a work trip in Jacksonville. This place did not disappoint. Usually when I see a place that has multiple food varieties I get a little skeptical but my team and I enjoyed it so much. I god the spicy Cajun fish sandwich and it was paired with the homemade salad. The salad dressing was delicious. I would say the portions are huge and worth sharing. Now this friend Okta with the honey chilli sauce, let me tell you, DELICIOUS. I couldn't help but keep eating these over and over. This place from what I'm told is open late and is multi faceted; a coffee shop, a restaurant and a bar with some beers on tap. Definitely a great spot to come with colleagues, friends and a date. It is large and had ample space for late get groups.

Kevin C.

Yelp
Interesting atmosphere great menu selection. You need to get there early they sellout of things quickly. The service as good though it is quick service everyone is friendly.

LaToya L.

Yelp
The Bread & Board is a local spot you must try. The lunch crowd was a great indication that the food would be worth the wait. I decided to try the sticky Thai shrimp board and it was delicious. The flavors were complimentary with the slaw and pickles on the side. Also, the portion size was large enough for two people to split. You can also visit the coffee shop located on the other side of the restaurant.

Jessica R.

Yelp
One of the only options downtown that is open outside of M-F 'office hours.' Good variety of options. I always get the fish and the ham and Brie board is another delicious option. Cute little shop in the back too with flowers and gourmet grocery items.

A J.

Yelp
Went for brunch. The service was good but a few things were forgotten from our order. It wasn't a huge deal since we weren't in a hurry and our server fixed everything at the end. We didn't have a complicated or crazy order -- Just two dishes and two coffees. But overall the energy of the staff was chaotic, like someone called out or all of the servers pissed each other off that day. Regardless, the management could benefit from boosting moral in some way. It happens. Could've just been an off Saturday. As for when we got there, there was no clear communication on how things 'worked' when you walked in -- for reference, this restaurant is inside of like a mini market with a bar, cafe in the back, floral shop, bodega... there's a lot going on. Party after party that walked in had no idea how ordering/seating/the experience was supposed to go. There was a host at a podium and another cafe spot behind them with a register and someone manning it. Just know if you don't have a reservation on a Saturday, go up to the host and put your name in! Otherwise the wait will be brutal. The food was good. Portions were hefty. I wasn't totally impressed with the 'build your own sandwich' approach. It was marginally more meat and greens than a prebuilt sandwich but just a preference thing. Overall, give it a whirl. Give them some grace. The food was worth the interesting experience and it might be best to try again on a weekday!

Yelp
The Bread & Board is super unique and definitely surprised me. Not sure why but I expected it to be more of a sit down place. I was excited to see it was a lot more causal than I originally thought. You walk in, place your order, take a number then wait on your food. The menu items are available as sandwiches (bread) or full meal (board) served on a wooden cutting board. Genius, right? I ordered the southern-style buttermilk chicken board. Man oh man was it good! The chicken was very crispy and seasoned. The whipped pimento cheese was the crown jewel for me! Creamy and flavorful. A truly perfect companion for the chicken. I really enjoyed the zucchini dill pickles as well, something different than the regular dill pickle. Simple concept with delicious food! Can't wait to return and try something new!

Yelp
I think about the Spinach, Feta & Tomato Salad every day. LOL. The perfect lunch meal! (Honestly, I'd eat it for breakfast and dinner too ). I love B&B! Great menu options. Definitely a great spot to order several things and share as a group.

Yelp
WOW YUM!!!!! We got the Italian and the Southern Chicken. 1000/10. So delicious. Going to start coming here every time we come to Jacksonville. Best sandwich I've ever had honestly.

Yelp
A very nice spot to stop. My kids like the happy board. I like the little gift shop area where we can stop and buy snacks to get the kids started on food before lunch comes to the table. This is a worthwhile spot to stop.

Yelp
I was at the Bread and Board for a Glass Etching class~ hosted by Bread and Board, organized the the Alewife bar. When I saw the Facebook event I was momentarily confused because I zoned in on Alewife- which I know is in Five Points. I double checked the info the day of and went oh- this is downtown at Bread and Board- ok! Leave early to find parking- check. I managed to find street parking right outside the door. Thank goodness! While doing our craft, a lovely server came around with the tiniest and cutest cup of cocoa! Samples! I wanted to dip my finger in the bottom of the mug to scoop out the residual chocolate! YUM! All of my friends ordered boards to munch on, I resisted because I had a large lunch and wasn't hungry- but when the boards came out and the smells! Oh dear. I regret not ordering. The meat board was a beast! The kids boards were super cute and my friend got the collard greens, some bowl oh-meats with what looked like pulled pork and ham piled high. I tried a little of the ham- hmmmm. I kinda wish I could go there today! The herb rolls that came with the boards were a ton of bread! Again- I regret declining food. The space is gorgeous- decked out for the holidays, open floor. There is also other business sharing the space- Alewife bar, Good Dough adjacent and a floral shop too!!!

Yelp
This place was a little gem in downtown Jacksonville recommended by my cousin. It serves more gourmet like deconstructed sandwiches with this amazing bread loaf with herbs. We got the crispy portabella mushroom half board sandwich and it was a bit too salty for my taste. The bread was to die for especially with the butter!!! We ordered a side of fries and they had just the right crisp and soft texture on the inside as well as seasoning. I ordered a southern crispy fried chicken with the pimento and Cole slaw to go for my brother and had a bite of that - also delicious. The portions were quite massive for half board and my husband and I shared and were more than full! The restaurant itself is an order at the counter type and quite large. There is seating near the window and the windows open to the street which was awesome for the indoor/outdoor feel. And the cashiers were great and gave us recs on what to order. If we find our back to Jacksonville, happy to come back here.

Yelp
BEWARE- when you order soup and they sell out of it, they will claim to give you your money back but they won't. We have called MULTIPLE times been spoke to RUDELY by some of the staff and never received a phone call back as promised. We have yet to receive our refund or even speak to the manager/owner cause they clearly don't care about customer service. UPDATE: After our reviews and social media comments, we did speak with the owner and he apologized for our experience and has refunded our issue. I consider the issue rectified.

Yelp
Great food and presentation ! The ham was too salty for my liking but it was still very good, the fruit jam was great with the bread.

Yelp
Cute place! The food was great. Loved the flavors. The portions and prices were reasonable. Let's talk about the service.... When does the food come before the drinks (which came one at a time)? The staff was nice, but pretty absent. Had to get up and track someone down for the check. There was a broom leaning against a table in the middle of the dining room for about 20 minutes! Only go if you are not pressed for time. It will take a while.

Yelp
Genuinely one of the worst brunch experiences I've ever had, not just in the area. We waited for our food for over an hour. The restaurant was packed, but only two waiters were helping get food or drinks. The waiters seemed to try and help, but obviously weren't prepared for a large crowd. The place is cute and generally clean, but with a combo of waiting so long, and a lack of organization, and mediocre food, it was not a great experience.

Yelp
Ordered the Smoked Pork and Ham Board. The Brisket, while in a pool of juice, was some of the driest meat I have ever had. And the taste was overpowered by a very spice juice so not very good on that level either. Left more than half of it; so disappointing.

Yelp
I had just gotten into town for a meeting and was by myself. Loved the casual atmosphere and it wasn't awkward at all to sit at the counter with the friendly employees. Emma was awesome. I was having a hard time deciding since the whole menu looked good, and she made great recommendations. The drink was amazing and it was one of the best salads I've ever had! There was a large group there, too, so obviously a good place for any size group. I'll probably be back tomorrow!

Yelp
I've wanted to try this place for a while and decided to take a leap after an appointment. Fair warning if you're using your GPS, it may be hard to find this place. I had to circle around a few times due to the various construction being done in the area. I really liked the outdoor eating area. If it wasn't so hot, I probably would have eaten my food outside. Update this review has been in my drafts since early summer, so I can't remember the name of the bowl I got. I do remember really enjoying one of the fountain drinks the most. They had a few unique flavors that I hadn't seen before. I believe it was like a cherry flavor that was so tasty.
