New Brunch Restaurant to Open in Detroit’s Rivertown Warehouse District | Eater Detroit

"Taking over the former Key Club nightclub space at 1440 Franklin St. in the Rivertown Warehouse District, this new all-day breakfast spot, owned by Micah Jenkins, will seat roughly 125 people in a loft dining area, feature a large patio, and include private dining spaces on the main floor and in the bar area. Diners can expect a variety of brunch dishes including waffle-biscuits, sweet potato pancakes, seafood omelets, and burgers; the restaurant plans to make its sausages in-house and will offer several vegetarian and vegan options. Currently operating a weekends-only brunch buffet, Breakfast Loft plans to officially debut in September and will serve breakfast and brunch on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is on track to open Sunday, September 8." - Brenna Houck

I am writing to express my profound disappointment regarding a recent dining experience at your establishment. My guests and I visited on Saturday, October 11th at 11am and found the environment to be far from the "classy" atmosphere advertised. The excessively loud music made conversation impossible, requiring us to communicate through gestures. Additionally, I found the service to be inattentive, as a server disappeared mid-conversation while I was ordering a drink. The total bill of $319.00, plus a $50 gratuity, was not reflective of the quality of the experience. Furthermore, the food quality was unsatisfactory. The greens had an earthy taste, indicating they were not thoroughly cleaned. The shrimp and grits were served cold, with the grits having an unusually firm consistency, and the shrimp appeared undercooked. The sweet potato pancakes consisted of a single, seemingly frozen pancake with a minimal sweet potato topping. Finally, the fruit had a spoiled taste. Given these issues, I believe the overall experience for our party of six was significantly below expectations and not worth the considerable expense.

The food on the buffet table was pretty fulfilling, and they also gave the option to order directly from the kitchen like pancakes, salmon croquettes, and shrimp & Grits. The waitress was wonderful and very attentive.

If I could give it negative zero stars I would. Very unsanitary, our table was dirty, the omelette guy was scooping egg mix from the bottom of his cart damn near on the floor by his feet. The shrimp and grits were cold and the shrimp was overcooked and the entire plate smelled like fish. The waitress was hard to get anything from even the bill, she was too busy dancing and in her male coworkers faces. The buffet food was warm but not hot and obviously not fresh but the taste or looks of it. We asked for two orange juices and only received one, the host was rude. They’ll just never have to worry about me coming back there, after all that our bill was $100 for some food we could’ve gotten at Coney Island and it would’ve been much more delicious. Just another spot with over priced food and drinks for the “vibe” even though the vibe wasn’t there either. The nicest thing was the material of the booth.

The Breakfast Loft – Truly a Gem! The service here was absolutely amazing! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel so welcome. The manager personally came by our table several times to check on us, which really showed how much they care about their guests. Our waiter, Rihanna, was incredibly attentive and friendly, and even the cook staff came out to answer questions — that level of hospitality is rare! The food was phenomenal. We had catfish, grits, potatoes, chicken, greens, macaroni and cheese, shrimp and grits made to order, and a variety of delicious pancakes. Every single dish was seasoned perfectly and full of flavor. Everything exceeded my expectations — it was well worth it! I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending The Breakfast Loft to everyone I know.

Arrived as the place was opening around 10:15am, took elevator up to 3rd floor. Was greeted by hostess who asked if we (a party of 4) had reservations. We informed her no as we notice plenty of empty tables, again they had just opened for business. The hostess advised us again to make reservations for future visits as she took us to a table. RESERVATIONS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! We were then greeted by our waitress who was very nice. She explained the price, how the Buffett work & that certain items come directly from the kitchen, i.e. Shrimp & Grits, specialty pancakes, and rice and salmon croquettes. Also please note the restaurant has a time limit 80 minutes and you’re asked to leave; however, you’re told this before you order. The Buffett has plenty to choose from and they keep it well stocked and clean. Food is HIGHLY seasoned so if you’re watching sodium intake be prepared to drink lots of water after your meal. The sweet potato pancakes are Fire, my favorite. Other items from the kitchen were just ok. Drinks nothing to jump up and down about. Atmosphere was a vibe, music (DJ) was good, not too loud but again it was early. I believe everyone should try them but for me, been there done that!
