Brothers Sushi, a beloved Valley spot now with a prime Culver City location, delivers an unforgettable sushi experience with top-notch fish and warm vibes.
"When a sushi restaurant starts expanding around LA, you might worry quality will suffer. That’s not the case with Brothers. This Valley sushi spot has a sizeable third location in downtown Culver, which is easily the neighborhood’s best raw fish option. Dinner can get spendy (the 15-course omakase runs $140 per person), but there’s also an a la carte menu with hot and cold dishes that keeps prices manageable. At lunch, expect specials like five nigiri and a spicy tuna roll for $28, or a loaded chirashi bowl with ten kinds of premium fish for $55." - brant cox, sylvio martins, garrett snyder, cathy park
"This Valley sushi spot's latest expansion is a location in downtown Culver City, which immediately became the neighborhood’s best raw fish option when it opened. The dinner omakase can get spendy, which is why we prefer lunch, when they roll out specials like five nigiri and a spicy tuna roll for $28, or a fully loaded chirashi bowl for $55. That’s not cheap for a solo lunch, but for a treat-yourself moment, ten kinds of premium fish—including dry-aged toro, shrimp, scallop, amberjack, and uni—over warm sushi rice is worth every penny. It’s also a large space with plenty of tables, in the event your co-workers want to tag along. " - nikko duren, brant cox

"With seasoned sushi rice, 15 types of seafood, plus a side of miso soup and salad, the premium chirashi at The Brothers Sushi is the culinary equivalent of a 1953 Cadillac Eldorado, or this scene from Mamma Mia: 2 Here We Go Again. In other words, an instant classic. There’s a heavy emphasis on rich, fatty toro sashimi here—thick, marbled cuts of ahi that melt in your mouth. The bright-orange uni is firm, but bursts with umami, and glistening scallops contain both sweet meat and a delicate texture. Plus, the rice is separated out into its own container, so its heat won’t cook the raw fish, and is garnished with furikake, tsukemono pickles, plus a few slices of tamago. It’s a stand-out dish that we’d happily eat on its own, any day of the week." - Kat Hong
