The Buka Restaurant, Osu, Accra

DELICIOUS ! We didnt reserve in advance so we had to wait 15-20mn for a table. The food was so good, with rapid service (decent portion too for a foodie like me 🤩), we barely waited 20mn to get served. The prices are very affordable. The waiter was professional and proactive. Definitely recommand !

This restaurant was absolutely beautiful. It was my family’s last night in Ghana together and decided to go to a restaurant together. The service was slow and it took over an hour to get our food. My aunt wanted to just leave because there wasn’t any communication and we were just waiting unaware of what was going on. She ended up going to a manager to cancel our orders which is when they brought the food out. I got the Fish Stew with white rice and it was ok, nothing to rave about and it was cold. It was mainly bones and breading which was disappointing because the waitress said it was made with Red Snapper, which is my favorite. I also got the fresh coconut water and Ginger bissap, both were very refreshing. I asked about the cake of the day and the waitress said there wasn’t one. Based on the service and the food, I wouldn’t go back.

Excellent restaurant for West African food. A selection of Nigerian and Ghanaian dishes available. I had the Tilapia, rice and kelewele. Absolutely delicious grilled fish. Time from ordering to eating around 30-35minutes. Attentive staff Great vibe, good music playing (not too loud!) bustling with a mixture of locals and tourists. Don’t be put off walking down the backstreets off the main road if visiting, worth the walk. Would visit again if in the area.

Was at Ghana, Accra for 2 weeks work trip. Went to the restaurant full of excitement and expectation as it is highly recommended from my internet search of Ghana food. In terms of food, the serving was great and the taste was quite nice overall especially the mango beer. As for service, it is lacking from the moment the waiter led us to our table, the servers & casher. Not sure if it was due to us just wearing round neck tees or just because we are Chinese looking but we certainly do dressed properly, at least not in short pants. They simply gave us the 'lack of interest' look. If service tax is optional, I would have not pay them a single bit of it.

I really enjoy their kontomire stew, better to get it with fish because one time I had it with goat all I got was bone and skin that’s too tough to chew because it wasn’t properly cooked. Their ground nut soup is decent too. Their service sucks. It takes forever to get even a mango juice. The waiter pretends to listen and then doesn’t do what you ask and then tries to trick you to pay for their mistake. I was also very disappointed because I asked for my leftovers to be packed and they threw it away. I have come several times, but this last time will make me give Buka a rest.

I usually visit Buka for fufu with any of their Nana’s special soups anytime after a trip out of the motherland. The flavors and taste are always on point. Tried the Jollof with spicy goat and it has the flavorful signature jollof and the caproic acid of the goat lol. If you’re in Ghana and would love authentic Ghanaian and western African flavors, Buka is always the best decision.

We had to wait about 10-15 mins before being seated. The gentleman advised they were fully occupied. Food was great and service was good. I loved the tasty tilapia and banku.
