The Butcher's Grille - Review - Tanglewood - Houston - The Infatuation

"The Butcher's Grille is a Lebanese spot from Dearborn, Michigan, and their new restaurant in Tanglewood is their first location away from home. Here, flame-grilled halal meats and other traditional Lebanese dishes meet American bar staples—think crispy shawarma egg rolls, fried halloumi sticks, and stacked burgers topped with onion rings the size of bracelets. There's no alcohol, but there are mocktails like rose water spritzes and smokey jalapeño margaritas. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Brooke Viggiano

Absolutely delicious!!! WOW. Every single dish we had was phenomenal. From the fresh squeezed lemonade to the appetizers, the meats, and the desserts…still dreaming about this lunch. This is the perfect spot for authentic Lebanese food with a modern twist. The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous and the staff is warm and friendly. The food is fresh and healthy not to mention so tasty. This is a new must try—a favorite for sure!!

If you’re looking for truly delicious Lebanese food, this place is a MUST! The salads were incredibly fresh and tasty, the chicken was super flavorful, and even the rice was amazing. But the star of the night was the kunafa with ice cream — you have to try it, it’s unforgettable! The service was just as great as the food. The staff were all very kind, and especially our waitress Tran she was extremely professional, super friendly, and honestly such a sweetheart. We definitely recommend this restaurant, and you all really need to come try it!

Absolutely loved this place! My dad and I came by to try this place out before bringing my mom who loves steak. First off the atmosphere is very elegant and the staff was wonderful. The lady in the front stopped by to check on us and we had miss Vanessa as our server and she was very attentive and informative, she answered all of our questions that we had and made sure we enjoyed our experience dining in this establishment. The food was excellent. Every dish we ordered was flavorful. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone thinking of trying it and I will introduce this restaurant to my friends and family.

We just celebrated my friend's birthday there this weekend. After going with my husband last week end and loving the food so much . I Have been there 2 week ends in a row and you might find me there for their Mouhamara next week end too🤣The Butcher's grill offers authentic lebanese food with authentic lebanese ingredients. I love that they dn't serve alcohol neither pork. We had a beautiful non alcoholic drink that was so refreshing and the grills were top! Tabouleh and humus took me Home and even their garlic dip tastes home made. Service was beautiful and the owner came and talked to us to see how they are doing . Siting on the terrace was so nice too! We stayed for 3 hours talking Try it once and you will see what I am talking about. Thank you BG for bringing a taste of Home to Houston . We will come back inshAllah:) P.s: they offered a free chocolate cake to the birthday lady! See pic.

The Butchers Grill is hands-down one of Houston’s best! Portions are huge, every dish could feed a village, and the flavors are incredible. The Butchers Board is a must, along with their appetizers and drinks. The service is above and beyond; even the owner stopped by to share menu tips and make us feel like family. Truly unmatched hospitality and unforgettable food!

Where do I begin?? We chose to sit outside on the patio and it’s such a nice environment. The level of service is a 10. The food was incredible! The lamb chops were cooked to perfections- the peppercorn sauce was the perfect match. If you’re a diabetic like me the Deconstructed Cheesecake is worth shooting up more insulin- omg it’s AMAZING. Vanessa is a fantastic waitress- extremely attentive and knowledgeable about all the intricacies of the menu. Overall it’s a 5 star experience!

Google
I had my birthday dinner at this place and was so happy to find such a wonderful halal fine dining restaurant in Houston. The food was absolutely delicious! 👍🏼 We tried the dynamite prawns, Butcher Burger and the Butcher Board—both had generous portions and were full of flavor. Our server, Eddie, was extremely kind and guided us through the menu with great detail, which made the experience even better. To top it all off, when they found out it was my birthday, they surprised me with a complimentary chocolate cake—it was rich, moist, and the perfect sweet ending 🍫❤️and even sang me 🥳 Happy Birthday , it truly felt special 💕 Definitely a memorable experience, and I’d love to come back again!

Yelp
Visited this place for the first time for my father in law's birthday dinner. Amazing ambiance - very aesthetic and is located in a nice area and has an outdoor area with seats and a fountain around as well. Service was perfect the waiter was super attentive and friendly. The food was great with great prices! Here's what we ordered: For the appetizers, we ordered lentil soup, chicken lemon rice soup, tabbouleh salad, and dynamite shrimp. The soup is good serving for 1 person, loved the lentil soup! The chicken lemon rice was okay. Love tabbouleh salad and it did justice here too. Dynamite shrimp was a treat! For the entrees, we ordered beef kefta pita, chicken taowuk pita, Lebanese burger and the hot n spicy chicken sandwich. We also ordered some truffle fries they were delicious! The burgers come with a serving of French fries. Both the sandwich and Lebanese burger were really good! The beef kefta pita was okay, there was a lot of sauce. The chicken taowuk pita was good I wish there was no coleslaw in it as it doesn't traditionally have that nor ketchup. But overall we had a great time and we were also given a good big piece of chocolate cake as a birthday complimentary treat to celebrate by the end of the dinner. I would definitely go again and try their steak or grill plates. There are two entrances of the parking space when you enter. No fees!

Yelp
Love the ambiance, style, and location. It's a very outings style restaurant, makes you want to dress nice, and it's very reasonably priced for what it is. I tried the crab balls and Reuben egg roll for appetizers. Reuben egg rolls were awesome, and the dipping sauce with it was great so definitely recommend. The crab balls weren't too special for me, but it wasn't bad either. For entree, I got the butchers burger, which was cooked well and came with a very generous amount of fries, but for me it was too salty because the burger was seasoned heavily and it also had beef bacon, and that combo needs something like avocado or something to reduce the salt (or just less seasoned burgers). Also, for the way everything is presented... I expect something other than ketchup to come with my fries (like that egg roll dip?). Service was friendly, but it does take a while! Water was also hard to come by and we had to order ice with it every time. Overall, definitely would come back, definitely recommend to try, but there are still a couple things to perfect.

Yelp
We visited last night with a party of 6 for my birthday. While the restaurant is tastefully decorated and the food is mostly delicious, we were pretty disappointed by the service. The waiter somehow missed writing down one person's order, so when the food came, we were one entree short. That's fine -- mistakes happen. He apologized and put in the order for the steak, and we were assured that it would be out soon. After waiting 10-15 min, the rest of us started eating our food as it was getting cold. We kept getting assurances that it would be out soon, but it didn't come until almost 30 min after the rest of the food and we had all pretty much finished eating by then. And it was overcooked. That is completely unacceptable -- why wouldn't you make sure that it is expedited and comes out asap to rectify the original mistake? And all we got was some lukewarm apology from the manager/owner (I think) and no offer to comp a drink or anything to make up for the ruined dining experience. And to top it off, my husband told them it was my birthday celebration and they brought out a carrot cake with a sparkler candle, which was nice. But then we find out they charged for the birthday dessert! If we were going to be charged for the dessert, then we should have at least had the choice of which dessert we wanted. While we appreciate having the non alcoholic environment and halal food options, there are definitely things to be worked on in the service offered and how you take care of your customers. Especially since the prices are on the higher side.

Yelp
New spot in the old Dish Society space. The inside is completely redone and has an upscale vibe. Non alcohol establishment. Service hit and miss. Food was mostly just ok. All meats were a bit over the doneness we asked for. Good: Walnut Shrimp was tasty and the apple added nice brightness. Fattoush salad had a sweet/tart dressing and pomegranate seeds. Lamb chops had great flavor and even though they were medium and not medium rare (what we requested) they were still tender. Carrot cake was not too sweet and the icing was surprisingly light. No so good: Garden Whisperer mocktail was bland. Falafel was hard and dense. Creamy crab rounds - besides the name we wouldn't know there was crab involved. Good flavors on the Grand skewer plate but the chicken tawook was tender but mushy(?) and the other skewers over temp. Overall the place is fine but unless I lived in the apartments above I probably wouldn't make the trip back.

Yelp
I came here with my family after hearing so many good things about this spot and it did not disappoint. The appetizers were fresh and flavorful, the main courses were cooked perfectly, and the service made the night even better. The highlight for me was the knafa with ice cream for dessert, it was absolutely amazing. This is definitely a place I would recommend and I will be coming back

Yelp
An export from Dearborn, that I've been hearing raves about, was so excited to try! I didn't realize that it was a part of an apartment complex, so parking is within an apartment complex garage. The first two floors are dedicated to retail parking, and once I found the place, parking was ample! This place is described as refined- yet casual, and I'd have to agree. The menu is vast, with steaks, burgers, loaded fries, and your typical Mediterranean options such as hummus, baba ganouj, and Kibbeh. They also have mocktails- we tasted the rose water spritz, and sunset mimosa. My friend found her spritz to be refreshing but my mimosa was just ok. My friend loved her steak, and said the medium rare was cooked to perfection. She loved the sauce that came with it. I equally loved my burger. It had an onion ring and bacon (beef) that added such great texture and crisp to the burger. It was all perfectly seasoned and mouthwatering to think about now. I could easily see myself visiting again, and I really want to try their loaded fries and hot chicken sandwich next time. I will say my burger took awhile coming out, and my side was then cold. My companion also didn't dig in waiting for my food so her food was cold- this was unfortunate. The place is new, so I do think this is growing pains and worth forgiving given how good everything was. Lastly, I've visited both Egypt and Morocco, and this places interior reminded me of both of those places. Very clean lines, symmetry, and great lighting.

Yelp
Came here with friends for dinner and we had a great time. Appetizer favorites were the walnut shrimp (tasty twist on an asian dish) and the fattoush salad (pomegranate was a nice refreshing touch). Falafel was rather dense and dry. Crab cheese rounds were lacking in crab flavor. The burger was so so. The skewers were nicely seasoned. The lamb chops were delightfully tender. Carrot cake was tasty and not too heavy.

Yelp
The atmosphere is very nice and the establishment is very clean. I like that the tables and chairs are comfortable and go very well with the floors. I appreciate that the tables and floors are not sticky and kept clean. The service has been very efficient and friendly. The servers are dressed well in uniform. The cheque and to go boxes are branded. I like the presentation and effort that the butchers grille is putting into providing a good dining experience. I ordered the creamy chicken, the butchers board, and the beef shawarma egg rolls. The creamy chicken is miraculous! Chicken is cooked perfectly, it is moist, well balanced, the cranberry rice is also very delicious and flavorful, mushroom really did the trick! As long as that chicken is cooked the way that I got it, this will be a go to for me! I hate dry and overcooked chicken. The butchers board with rib eye, delicious. The green sauce is very flavorful and not too overwhelming. I asked for my steak medium and they delivered as ordered. The shoestring fries are a deal maker. The salad dressing is refreshing. A bit tangy and very well balanced with the other goodies on the board. The garlic bread is a must, if it was thinly sliced like crostini, it would be an easier grab and bite. Nonetheless amazing!!! The beef shawarma egg rolls were a slight miss because the beef was a little dry. Something more refreshing in them or over them like tabouli or cucumber yogurt dip would enhance it a bit. I felt like the cumin rub on the outside was a little strong. Maybe next time, I'll get the chicken option.

Yelp
In terms of service, meals, presentation, vibe; Butcher's is 3 - 5 notches above any other Lebanese restaurant in the City. My wife and I sampled 1/4 of the menu, plan to be back to sample more! A modern twist on standard dishes keeps your palate on its toes

Yelp
This restaurant is so so so goodddd. First off the food is a 11/10 the burgers are to die for both the beef on and chicken one. They are so filling and yummy, ugh I love it. The vibe of the place is perfect. The people there are also all very nice. It was definitely a pleasant lunch experience.

Yelp
Best Lebanese cuisine in Houston! Plus, the service was great. The hostess, Sierra, was also kind enough to make sure my wife (whose birthday we celebrated) and I had comfortable seating arrangements, especially since I use a wheelchair. As for the remaining staff members, everyone was great and very welcoming. We definitely plan to visit again in the near future.

Yelp

Yelp
Everything we had here was delicious! The meats were tender and the rice was buttery, loved the appetizers like the dynamite shrimp and cheese rolls. Our server Eddie was awesome and very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recs!

Yelp
Dear foodie readers, i'm extremely excited to share this review... it's about time Houston got a Lebanese restaurant that is really nice, has delicious food, and great service...our server Tran was wonderful from beginning to end. She had great recommendations, and was genuinely excited to see how much we enjoyed them. Everything we had was extremely fresh, and tasty. The tabbouleh knocks it out of the park, the babaganoush is the best I have had in town, the mixed grill was so flavorful and tender I can't wait to go back for more. We ended it with the kenafeh, yummy yum yum...highly recommend reservations, it's a small place, enjoy!!

Monica B.

Yelp
The food is Amazing!! Best Lebanese food I've had in Houston. Much needed here in Houston.

Juliet S.

Yelp
The food is excellent. The atmosphere upbeat and welcoming. The service great! The grilled chicken is memorably delicious! Kamel, the GM, ensures your experience is lovely!

Yelp
We were able to secure a 9pm seating on the Friday of Labor Day weekend for eight assisted by Daliana inside as it's still too hot for their patio seating. We got there on time and were promptly sat, though it was the table by the entrance. But that did not at all affect the great hospitality and service we (three generations and an adult daughter from NYC) enjoyed at the capable hands and friendly demeanor of Danny ! The food was so fresh, and tasty as we tried beef shawarma fries, perfectly cooked falafels, apple kale salads, and a delicious pesto hummus. We were all pleasantly satisfied already, but our exquisitely cooked (medium) main shareable entree of the 10 skewers (4 types of meats) had everyone raving which came with aromatic long grain basmati rice. We finished off a great experience with the strawberry cheesecake and knafeh with vanilla ice cream. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet comfortable and not stuffy and with our plates changed and cleared before each course made this a restaurant we would highly recommend and will be definitely visiting again. Bravo to the chef and entire staff!

Peggy M.

Yelp
We absolutely love The Butcher's Grill. The atmosphere is relaxed and feels comfortable, with attention to cleanliness as well. The service is excellent and the staff are often offering refills of water as they pass by, which is a plus. There are so many choices of food--from stuffed grape leaves, hummus, and kibbeh to their pitas, salads, and, of course, their steaks! Everything is always served with pride and perfection!

Maryam E.

Yelp
Great service food was delicious place had really nice ambiance everything felt very clean 10/10 will definitely be back

Yelp
Went with a friend on a Saturday night without reservations . Luckily they were able to sit us outside in the back area . Unfortunately, the table we had was right by the back door and sometimes the door would swing a little too much when being opened . Also had a high chair, broom and dust pan in the way of my chair and I had to move it in order to pull my chair out . The restaurant looked beautiful. The baba ghammouj was delicious. The pita bread could improve . Maybe if it's hot it would be better . We also had the creamy chicken with mushroom sauce . It came with a cranberry rice . The dish was excellent. We loved it . For dessert we had the cheesecake - I do not recommend. It was a lot of graham cookie crumble with a lot of cream and little bit of ice cream . No cheesecake to be found . The service was ok . Disappointed that we had to ask for water 3 times . No one comes by to fill water glass . They take your glass to the back and not sure if it's the same glass you get back or someone else's . I gave it 4 stars for cheesecake and service but if I were to rate just those two things I would give it a 2. Also if you are looking for alcoholic drinks , you will not find it here . I will try it again .

Yelp
Best Lebanese food in Houston. Service is great. I have been 3 times since it opened. I've tried the filet, sujuk, tabouli, knefe... everything i have had has been delicious.

Sandra N.

Yelp
Our server, Justin, was absolutely perfection with fast service and proper management of the table. He kept up with our table so fast and perfectly even with a family of 8. The table stayed clean and organized. The food was absolutely delicious and with amazing quality meats, foods and cooking. Justin made our meal 20x better though. A good meal is always better with perfect service, thanks again to Justin!!

Yelp
I stopped by with friends to try this place out on Saturday night and it was packed. The place is small so noise carried and it felt suffocating with no A/C. I did not get to try the food since we decided to go elsewhere due to the long wait. Did not like the atmosphere and lack of ventilation.

Juan M.

Yelp
The scenery here is so nice u don't even have to walk through the door and you can see that it's a beautiful establishment our server was extremely nice and my sister and i had a delicious meal the burgers here have to mine my all time favorite so good so much goes into one burger it is truly a place i'd love to come back to.

Yelp
The service was great and the food came out hot and quickly! I got the CBR wrap and it was deliciouss, you don't know how happy I was to have a wrap with halal bacon!!! The fattoush was really fresh and the cheese rolls were crispy and warm, reminded me of the ones I had in Turkey. Would 100% recommend. The ambiance was also great. I see great things for this new restaurant, exactly what Houston needs!

Marie G.

Yelp
Very pretty and upscale environment. The ambiance was perfect. The food was fantastic. I had a kale salad and eggplant that was tops. I will be back soon!
