"There’s no doubt that the experience of perusing your next read is made better with a good beverage. Though the Coconut Grove location of the Café at Books & Books isn’t as large as the Coral Gables spot, you can still expect great coffee, bubble tea, snacks, and some adult beverages. "The Coral Gables Books & Books is very much its own character. It exhales when the weather cools, and the wooden floors creak when the humidity rises. It’s alive—with ideas and history. And also food. Their very solid cafe serves soups, salads, and sandwiches with both indoor and outdoor seating. It’s a lovely spot to chill out with a grilled cheese, wine, and a good read—or a great place to work while you attempt to absorb ideas through osmosis. They have an amazing selection of books, complete with rolling library ladders, so you can pretend you’re a provincial Disney princess sliding your way from Octavia Butler to Kurt Vonnegut after you eat. "The Books & Books in Coral Gables has an entire room dedicated to kids’ books, toys, and board games. You can spend an entire five minutes (attention spans get shorter every generation) letting your kid find the perfect bedtime story, or perhaps the latest Sally Rooney novel if they’re oddly mature. This is also the only Books & Books that functions as a restaurant. They have quesadillas, grilled cheese, and these vegan churro donuts that are a perfect bite-sized dessert. "This spot isn’t just for bookworms wriggling to find love. It’s for folks who know Miami’s dating scene requires strategy. This cafe and bookstore has a user-friendly one. You order and pay before sitting down. No one’s rushing you out because it’s a place for lingerers. If things go well, order a grilled cheese, a glass of wine, and show a little ankle, as Oscar Wilde would say. "Miami used to be more hospitable to artists. Great books were written here, monumental albums recorded here, and the word “bro” barely even existed. Books & Books is still a place for the art lovers of Miami. You come here to have wine or tea, browse through banned books, and listen to authors talk about their work. The bookstore makes it a point to preserve Miami history and culture too. They once even had an “intertemporal symposium” on the history of Miami that dated back to prehistoric times.
