The Best Restaurants in Malibu, California | Eater LA

"Though technically in Pacific Palisades but essentially on the border between Malibu and the tony Los Angeles neighborhood, the Cafe at the Getty Villa is a reliable place to get easy California fare, sandwiches, and burgers but with one of the coolest venues in town thanks to its location inside a reproduction of a grand Roman villa built by famed art collector (and notorious cheapskate) J. Paul Getty. There’s no cost for entrance to the museum, just a reserved ticket, though parking is $20 per car. *The Cafe at the Getty Villa remains temporarily closed." - Eater Staff

Where To Take Your Out-Of-Town Friends To Eat in LA

"HOSTING TIP: Don't suck at it. Your friends want experiences and at The Getty Villa, you are giving them one they never knew they could have. Not to be confused with its bigger, inland brother, The Getty Villa is a more intimate (and still completely free) museum and gardens overlooking the Malibu mountains and Pacific Ocean. And smack in the middle is the Cafe, with surprisingly great food and one of the most memorable settings in SoCal." - brant cox

Our lunch was tasty and healthy! We ordered a salad (ricotta, pistachios and artichoke), a margherita pizza and a chicken wrap. Portions were alright, but could have been more generous with the cheese on the pizza and the chicken inside the wrap. Some might find the food to be light-flavoured, but it was alright for us. Prices are alright, about the same as any other cafe in LA.

Google
The cashier was great describing some questions we had regarding menu items. Very nice and friendly service. Great choices to choose from. We had the pita and hummus. The hummus was simple and delicious. The corn pure type of soup was also yummy!

Google
Surprisingly good food here. Order at the counter and they will bring out the food to your table. Portion were good, price is very reasonable. Four of us shared two dishes and we were satisfied. The dessert is pretty and tasty. Very nice place to grab a bit after all the walking inside the villa.

Google
Attempted to book their tea service which I later found out that it has to be reserved months in advance. With out of towner’s luck there was a cancelation and scored a table. It was an all thumbs (and pinkies) up! Starting with the chief waiter Jonathan who imbued the proceedings with humor and clever repartee. The serene surroundings, peaceful views and quiet atmosphere with ample room (a toddler and her nanny made a few laps around the room, delighting all of us humans and a well behaved, huge rotweiler) . Their signature black tea with lavender was a perfect accompaniment to their offerings. Perhaps a little more contrast in flavor between the sandwiches would be my only suggestion (perhaps smoked salmon in liey of the roast beef). But for the money, presentation and overall experience this place was far superior than the Connaught hotel in London and Tiffany’s Blue Room in NYC. Bravo to the staff and management in charge.

Google
Visited both Getty Villa and Getty Center. Had a very nice lunch at the Getty Villa Cafe. Ordered the burger with bacon and humus (fresh but under seasoned). The bacon was the killer (sweet and thick) and made the burger great. The cafe has a very nice view and relax setting. Definitely recommend to have a relaxing lunch here.

Google
Lovely cafe with great service and huge servings! My country didn’t have a tip culture and he took the initiative to press no tip!

Paul

Google
Very nice museum cafe, had a small pepperoni pizza that was freshly prepared and delicious and the Mediterranean platter which was great. Also the outdoor courtyard setting makes for great views.

Google
I had lunch here during a full day visit. For Gluten free options they had soup and salad. They said they could do a hamburger without a bun, but the risk of cross contamination was too great for me. It all tasted great and cost about $20. The coffee cart has a gluten free Coffee Cake one day and a pumpkin muffin the next which were great.

Yelp
Not nearly as expensive as some of the reviews have said. I thought it was very much in line with LA pricing. The menu is not extensive, but what they had was tasty. Nice area to sit outside and enjoy the sun while looking at a roman ampitheater.

Yelp
We split a herbed chicken wrap, which was huge. Definitely big enough to share. We had it with a green salad. Nice outdoor dining area. Quick service. They bring the food to your table after you order at the counter. Our food came out really fast. The wrap was delicious and filling.

Yelp
The burger was great, the place was clean and tidy. I went as soon as they opened so my food didn't take long.

Bosie M.

Yelp
DREADFUL pizza. Oh my god. For $18 I expect a good Margherita pizza. This had a clearly frozen crust, rubbery cheese, and a mediocre jarred sauce. Skip the cafe and eat in Santa Monica or Malibu!! An embarrassment.

Julie H.

Yelp
RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED & OVERRATED! My husband and I went to the Getty outdoor theater series last night, and had decided beforehand to eat at their Café. To our dismay, all the food was pre-prepared and sold pre-packaged in little takeout boxes, emphasis on little . Yet, they were still charging actual restaurant. We had a small serving of Moussaka, a wrap sandwich , two glasses of Prosecco and one bottle of water. The bill was $99!!! Absolutely ridiculous!! The servings were the size of something you would grab at Trader Joe's for a quick lunch on the go. The quality was basic and certainly not worth the ridiculous prices they were charging. We eat in a lot of nice restaurants and this was just uncalled for. WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!

Yelp
Getty Malibu is always a wonderful place to visit, I highly recommend going early to avoid crowds. Especially so you can get seating at the cafe. I had the chicken wrap and son had the burger. Ordering was easy, and it was brought out pretty quickly. Everything tasted great. My only complaint is the price point.

Yelp
I visited the cafe on Thursday 01/04/24. It was my first visit. I highly recommend visiting the cafe during your visit at the Getty. The cafe has a variety of menu options including vegetarian and vegan. I ordered the butternut squash soup and hummus and pita slices. The pita slices are toasted and warm. Both meals were delicious. The meals tasted fresh and wholesome. 10/10 score I as well ordered the apple dessert. The dessert was tasty . I would give it a 9/10. It has fresh whip cream and apples. They have sparkling water , ice tea, coke products, and wine . They do have complimentary water to drink. There is outdoor and in door sitting. The cafe does close early. When I visited they closed at 3pm. They do have honey and raw sugar for sweeteners for the unsweetened ice tea. I absolutely recommend. I am coming back just for the cafe. Please visit and eat the this cafe. FYI- The burger with the garlic fries looked yummy. My visual observation.

Yelp
The Villa's restaurant was just down the hill from where we were, so That Lady welcomed the opportunity to dine Al fresco in a beautiful location. Their menu was a little slim on choices, but the have burgers, pizza, soup salads and assorted items. The desserts were tempting but we decided on sharing a charcuterie box, hummus and we each ordered soup. They also offer wine and beer. The beverage of choice was Prosecco. It was all very tasty and the view and ambiance are really special. We ordered at the counter and paid. The food and beverages were shortly served. That Lady chose a table on the balcony with great views and we settled down to our light repast like, some early Romans or Etruscans. Prices are moderate to moderately expensive, depending on what you buy. However, the views and the museum make it a great bargain given other venues, these days.

Yelp
I think I just chose a bad item my family liked their food and I saw other stuff look great but my margherita pizza was subpar it tasted like an ez bake oven pizza
google avatar

Sandi L.

Yelp
I wasn't expecting much since this is a cafe at a museum, but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food they serve here. My husband and I split the burrata app and a salad with chicken added, and it was incredibly delicious. We also shared a piece of carrot cake which was also excellent. Test of our family enjoyed their food as well. Def recommend!

Yelp
It was convenient to be able to have a nice lunch at the Getty Villa today as soon as we arrived. The cashier was very friendly, and remembered that I'd ordered iced tea when I returned to the counter for a free refill. Our food arrived in a normal amount of time. The atmosphere was fine, of course, since it was the Getty Villa. My butternut squash sandwich wasn't great, however. The bread was dry. The fries were really good though. I'd order something else next time.
google avatar

Tommy C.

Yelp
One of the reasons I love going to museums is they almost always have a fantastic cafe. Unfortunately, despite a wonderful experience in the museum, the cafe at Getty Villa doesn't measure up. Service was great, order taker was friendly and being in the museum, the atmosphere was great. But the food was only "okay." The margarita pizza was very mediocre. Dough was dry, toppings were savory but lacked the fresh, tangy taste you'd expect from a good margarita pizza. I almost wonder if the pizza was pre-made and frozen, then reheated when ordered. For the price, I can only give it a "C." The villa chicken salad was relatively better. The veggies tasted fresh, but the chicken was dry and bland. I'll give it a "C+." If I was visiting the museum, I probably did it again just because it's convenient, but definitely manage my own expectations.

Theresa K.

Yelp
We have been going to the Getty cafe for years and the food usually has been very good. I don't know what happened but today it was do bad ! I actually had diarrhea afterwards. Raw cold French fries and mediocre Roman burger. I had the carrot soup too. Everything was cold except the soup which was tepid. I asked the attendant about the fries he brought me new ones that were worse! Actually raw inside. Yuck. That cook needs to go
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
I went to the Getty and ended up having lunch here. The cafe had an outdoor seating that overlooks the museum... First you order with the cashier inside the cafe. You then take a number and go outside and place it on your table of choice. When you're about to wonder "where is my food?" a server will come out with your food and place it on your table. Order - villa salad with grilled chicken (the chicken was dryyyyy and not worth $20), villa burger with garlic fries (this was ok but definitely not worth $20) and the grilled chicken sandwich (was the same - dry and not worth eating period). Pros - view and scenery from the top balcony Cons - I wasn't impressed with the overpriced mediocre food. However, I didn't expect anything more or anything less. I recommend eating before visiting and then grabbing some coffee on the balcony to enjoy the scenery.

Yelp
I've been going to the Villa for decades, both for my own continuing edification and vast enjoyment, and to occasionally introduce neophytes to one of the best and most unique museums in the US. The impressive renovations, completed in 2006, includes a sleek and tasteful museum cafe. Such places are usually great showcases for quality and innovative fare. Cafe 2 at MoMA in New York, Djanogly Café at the Tate in London, the Nakanoshima Muse at Osaka's National Museum of Art: these and countless other museum eateries are almost worth the visit alone. Alas, the Getty uncharacteristically falls short in this regard. While the cafe itself is beautiful and the staff wonderful, both the quality of the offerings and the choices themselves disappoint. While perfectly edible, the food is unimaginative and of course not inexpensive. In other circumstances, I would pass little judgment on generic margherita pizzas and burgers, but with the amazing facilities and the lovely Malibu climate, the food almost becomes an irony. If you must grab something, the starters/small plates are a bit better. The nearby coffee kiosk might have been a lifesaver in this regard, but their espresso offerings are not unlike Starbucks on a so-so day. If I were frequenting my local zoo or one of the ubiquitous SoCal amusement parks, I would utter few concerns about the fare served at the Villa's Cafe. But here? Come on! I have no doubt you can do better.
google avatar

Yelp
i really love the outdoor seating here on a sunny day. The margherita pizza is my favorite. it's a perfect date spot and nice little break from walking around discovering the art!

Yelp
If you're expecting a fine dining experience at a museum cafe I got news for you, don't. My friend and I were in Malibu for the weekend and the Getty Villa Cafe was on the itinerary as we were ballin on a budget that weekend. I definitely was expecting exaggerated cafe prices as this is a Getty property. I set my exceptions very low but was very impressed by the dessert menu here. Before even ordering the friendly cashier at the counter started naming all the items on the menu (there's not many). Hypnotized by her Aphrodite charms I went with the chicken wrap because I was starving after having climbed up those steps. I don't know how ancient Greeks managed all that with open toed flat sandals! In addition to my fresh wrap I added the galette for dessert. Aphrodite sold me on it when she described it, thanks girl it was well worth it. I didn't get a coffee but I'm sure this would pair well with an espresso from the coffee cart. My wrap was a little dry, it had some sauce in it but it was very light. Nonetheless it was very filling and giggled at the thought of Julius Cesar munching on a chicken wrap with a side of garlic fries and sprite. Overall this is a nice little cafe if you don't want to make a pit stop for lunch, the food is good and dessert is even better.

Yelp
DARN GOOD LUNCH ! My wife and I were visiting The Getty Villa for just the 2nd time on Sunday. WHAT A THRILL ! We arrived at 10am so we could see everything at our leisure. AND WE DID ! At 1pm we decided it was time for lunch so we headed to The Cafe. When we were last here 4 years ago we thought the food was good enough. NEW MENU ! It was unbelievably busy at this time...not a single outdoor table was available. EVERYBODY WAS HUNGRY AT THE SAME TIME ! We kept it simple and ordered 1 x HERB CHICKEN WRAP with GARLIC FRIES ( feta, roma tomatoes, sundried tomato aioli, local lettuce, shaved red onion, lavash ), 1 x BOTTLED WATER, 1 x CHOCOLATE MOUSSE TART ( dulce de leche, mixed berries sauce, vanilla bean cream ) and 1 x FALL SPICE BREAD PUDDING ( apple compote, cider caramel, cinnamon cream ). We paid the cashier and were given a table number plus our bottled water. After finding a vacant table inside the cafe we waited for our lunch order to come out. NOT LONG ! To our surprise our lunch order arrived pretty fast....first our Herb Chicken Wrap with Garlic Fries followed shortly after by our beautifully presented desserts. PRETTY DARN GOOD ! We nailed an extra plate for our Herb Chicken Wrap with Garlic Fries....it all tasted pretty good ! And then we hit our desserts....they tasted more than impressive. PRETTY GOOD VALUE ! Take a sneak peek at https://youtu.be/f0pnJSddpug NOTE - Of course with over 22 million views of my Yelp reviews and pics in 2022 I can tell you what is great !

Yelp
Roman Burger - bacon pieces with a beef patty - 4/5 Pesto Caprese Sandwich - French bread was nice and hard with a good crunch - was slightly dry - 3.5/5 Chocolate Raspberry $9.25 - raspberry purée and surrounded with raspberries and cream on the presentation - 5/5 Pear Crostata $4.75 - tasted similar to an apple pie but with pear - surrounded by cream and edible flowers - 4/5 Notes- Restrooms were downstairs and had to take elevator down Employees were very friendly and food was served nice, quick and hot
google avatar

Yelp
One of the worst pizzas that I have ever had. It was basically a cracker, a small amount of bland pasty sauce in the center, blobs of cheese and no spices. The cheese topping slid right off the pizza when I picked up a slice.
google avatar

Lida M.

Yelp
I was looking forward to a nice lunch at Getty Villa but all I received was a terrible overcooked hard crust hard cracker cold pizza with no taste or hardly anything on it!! My poor husband got a Villa burger $22 overcooked ( burnt) cold hamburger and bacon with aioli with no garlic taste! Lunch was really bad ! I wouldn't eat here again!!

Thomas C.

Yelp
Wonderful Clean Excellent customer service skills Friendly staff Great prices Great food Fast service Beautiful views My go to lunch spot in Malibu
google avatar

Alisa J.

Yelp
Good cafe despite being a restaurant in a museum. The chocolate mousse was really good and so were the fries. It's a bit pricey but expected of a cafe in a tourist destination. Plenty of seating on the terrace but not all tables have an umbrella and it can get hot. You order drinks at the cart and not inside. Nice place to get a small snack after walking around the museum for a few hours.
google avatar

Shal M.

Yelp
A core memory I have from when I was young is going to The GETTY and having the worst sandwich ever. Luckily here at the Getty Villa Cafe, the food is pretty tasty. You order, take a number, and then go sit down. The wait was a little long, but since this is the only food in the area, the cafe is pretty busy. I ordered, Villa Burger with Garlic Fries- The burger itself was tasty, kinda your standard thick gourmet burger. The garlic fries are ok. They do not have much garlic flavor. (7.5/10) Raspberry Chocolate dessert- Very tasty! It was a nice light refreshing dessert. The combination between raspberry and chocolate is good. Great way to end the meal. (8.5/10) Just a head up, this place is a little pricy. I recommend maybe splitting a dish since they are a decent size. Overall though it was a good experience.
google avatar

Nikki C.

Yelp
The Mediterranean plate was really good, I wish I had more pita bread :(
google avatar

Hikari K.

Yelp
Very good satisfying gourmet burger. It was a bit on the pricier side, but it was satisfying where I didn't care much after I ate it. Fresh, crunchy, and juicy; the tangy bbq sauce definitely hit the spot for me. Garlic fries were a nice touch on the side but I feel like they can add more garlic or flavor. Happy tummy :)
google avatar

Gerardo V.

Yelp
The views are nice the food is really good prices are not too bad it's a museum in the palasades but prices are still not over the top I had the burger my wife had the wrap the wrap can definately be shared the burger was great customer service was lacking it was hard to get someone to come clean the table thus we had to eat on a bit of a wet table ...
google avatar

Roy R. P.

Yelp
While at the Getty Villa today went to the Cafe at the Getty Villa for lunch. Had the Margherita Pizza which was very good. Didn't have to wait very long for it to be brought to the table (although I was sitting outside) and I ate the whole thing (including the big basil leaves). For those who may be wondering, ate the pizza with my fingers, not with a knife and fork. A big plus for the Cafe at the Getty Villa is they have nice large cloth napkins rather than the little paper napkins some places use.
google avatar

Alexis F.

Yelp
Got the Villa burger and garlic fries which was so yummy!! The garlic fries had chunks of garlic which made it very strong! It was a little pricey obviously came out to $22 for just the burger and fries.
google avatar

Claire W.

Yelp
I got the meat pizza, pretty solid. I also got the chocolate mousse, that was really delicious. Highly recommend!

Alex P.

Yelp
On the pricier side, but the $18Greek Chicken Wrap chicken wrap was delicious with generous portions. The lentil soup was also excellent. Great beautiful outdoor space. Totally recommend stopping by here.
google avatar

Mei k.

Yelp
Friendliest and most helpful staff including the person that takes your order and the servers, the food is healthy and super fresh and eating on the beautiful rooftop terrace is unbeatable experience alone or with family or friends
google avatar

Joe T.

Yelp
Ordered the pizza here. They were really good. Plenty of seats inside and out on the patio. You order the food at the counter, place your number in the holder at your table, and your food finds you. Food is really good but a little pricey but very good. One complaint is that the menus are located where you order and pay so people are standing there trying to figure out what to order. It is a little confusing to know where the end of the line is.
google avatar

John K.

Yelp
The house salad at Cafe at the Getty Villa has no flavor and tastes like it's been dressed with straight up oil. The humus comes with barely any pita. I paid $30 for nothing.
google avatar

Derek S.

Yelp
Had lunch at the Cafe while visiting the Getty Villa the other day. The cafe is operated by Bon Appetit. Quality of food along with the ambiance of the environment was quite impressive. Started off with the Roman burger along with a side of Garlic fries and it was tasty! Much better than your typical cafeteria fare! The sausage and pepperoni pizza was okay. A quick fill me up, nothing to write home about! The flourless black forest cake was quite impressive. Not too sweet and wasn't too heavy either! Process starts off by ordering with the cashier and the staff brings the food to the table, based upon the number provided by the cashier. Staff was friendly in bringing dishes and even came by to ensure things were going well. Be sure to sit outdoors to enjoy the view and beautiful SoCal weather! They also have a Tea by the Sea in the private conference room upstairs for $38/head every Thursday and Sunday at 1 pm only. $20/head after tax for lunch
google avatar

YanLin D.

Yelp
It's sad during quarantine they only provide cold food like wraps/sandwiches/salads. I got the Italian Garden Wrap which was so fresh and tasted awesome, I want to learn and make it myself. We also ordered hummus and pita, and a beef sandwich. The hummus was good, but I wish there would be more meet in that sandwich. A great thing is they were really doing a good job on sanitize each table after the guests left. To me the price is 3/5, 5/5 for I can spend the whole day in the museum with a light and healthy lunch (4/5).
google avatar

Erica W.

Yelp
Pros: (1) Plenty of indoor/outdoor seatings; and (2) stand in line to order, pay, and the food is delivered to you at your table. Cons: N/A This place definitely reminded me of the cafe at the Honolulu Museum of Arts in my hometown. Yelp Challenge: #24/100.
google avatar

Alexandra L.

Yelp
The Quick: Is it overpriced? Yes. Is the food good? Thankfully yes. The location is beautiful with a nice view and it's the only option there so you are paying for this. However the flatbread was great and the peasant bread (focaccia with a seasonal dip) is tasty. Enjoy!!
google avatar

Amber M.

Yelp
We came here a few weeks ago while we were visiting the Getty Villa and, unfortunately, it was disappointing. Yes, it's overpriced, which is to be expected, considering it's at the Getty Villa, but the food was mediocre at best. It wasn't too busy when we were there, so it didn't take too long to get through the line. I wasn't really impressed with the selection. My boyfriend and I both ordered the chicken wrap and his mom ordered the portobello sandwich. We found a table outside and enjoyed the sun and the view while we waited for our food. I was kinda surprised that it took about 30 minutes for our food to arrive, especially since it wasn't very busy. I didn't try to portobello sandwich, but it didn't look appetizing and a bit on the small side. His mom didn't finish it, but she said it was okay. Neither my boyfriend or I liked our chicken wraps. The chicken was very dry and didn't have much flavor to it. It was served with a green salad, lightly dressed with a vinaigrette, but the lettuce was wilted. I didn't like it, so I didn't finish the wrap and my boyfriend got a bit of an upset stomach afterwards and he thinks it was from the wrap. The best part about this place is sitting outside overlooking the museum grounds and the ocean. Other than that, I'd have to say pass on it. We wouldn't eat here again. I'd recommend eating before you get to the museum or buying some safe snacks, like a bag of chips, to tide you over.

Yelp
Food sets the mood to experience "Mojada: A Medea In Los Angeles" at The Getty Villas' Barbara and Lawrence Fleischman Theater, Thursdays - Saturdays, September 10 - October 3, 2015. Yelp
Real long line to get to order at counter. Once there cashier was pleasant and took order. Placed number given at table and waited! The ambience is spectacular on this gorgeous day. The food was quite good, I had their juicy hamburger on a brioche bun! A nice break from the enormous intake of the villa. Will do it again when I am here next! Cheers!

Yelp
When it comes to museums, park attractions, etc., I never thought I'd ever eat at location restaurant. It's always over priced, and probably not that great. Coming to the Getty Villa on a Saturday changed that! I actually ate at the Cafe! I was with a large group and we had a table off to the side (where bigger parties sat). I waitress was absolutely wonderful and it seems she was the only one working the floor! She had to travel so far back and forth to the main area to serve us and other customers! :-/ When I opened the menu, I was excitedly shocked! Everything sounded so delicious! Oh and they change up the menu too! Here's what I ate: BREWED COFFEE - $2.75 Your generic coffee...nothing much to say here. :) price was decent for restaurant/cafe, not over priced, yay. VILLA BURGER - $14.95 Meyer Port Sherry Reduction, Aged Gruyere, Black Truffle Mushroom Aioli, Local Lettuce, Brioche, Served w/ Red Pepper Ketchup Did I just read black truffle?! Oh and I just LOVE my burgers on brioche! This fancy burger was really good. Is not written, but this burger comes with a generous amount of skinny, crispy, yummy fries. I believe it's about $1 more to make it truffle fries! Oh yeah! BRAISED BEEF SHORT RIBS IN CHIANTI - $18.95 Globe carrots, Brussels Sprouts, Crispy Kale, Goat Cheese Polenta. Oh my goodness I was excited! Everything about this dish sounded amazing...and it was! When the plate came out, and I ate it, and enjoyed it, I realized, wait...it like like I just had myself a fancy dinner! This is so good! The crispy kale was lovely, the Brussels sprouts wasn't bitter, the braised beef was super tender and full flavor and the goat cheese polenta was creamy and rich! Perfection was this dish! His place was a game changer for me! It's like I went on a lovely date that includes a lovely museum location. Ok for those of you who are looking for a nice fancy date, come here! Sure it's during the day but that's when the Villa is gorgeous! And with all that had, the piece was not bad at all. Sure it's not in some lovely decorated restaurant with a romantic mood going (it did feel like you were at a museum restaurant), but the food for the piece was decent, and you get to walk off all that rich food you had around the villa! I had a lovely day, could you tell? ;)

Michael L.

Yelp
Awful salad with inedible chicken for $21. Be sure to save a table in the shade as the sun is intense in that area. May be ok for coffee and danish from the nearby food cart.

Mitchell B.

Yelp
Margherita Pizza was almost ok, the sauce was nice and sweet but the crust was undercooked and tasted like a saltine cracker. Also it was $15. I coulda had 3 Little Caesar Hot n' Ready's for that. The coffee was nice though, but I shouldn't have had it with a pizza.
google avatar

Yonnie C.

Yelp
Burger & garlic fries for $21. Probably one of the most expensive burger entrees ordered, haha. Husband was hungry after visiting Getty Villa and dropped by to pick up something to eat. It was actually pretty good + garlic fries were delicious, and the soda is one-free re-fill only. Nice to sit outside with friends/family to enjoy the sunny weather.

Vl D.

Yelp
This type of a cafe is typical for any good museum: pretty decent but high-priced food. One star deducted for the lack of a good view (unless you go to the coffee/tea section, the ambience is nice but unexceptional, which shows lack of effort on the part of the architect, given the circumstances) and the ordering counter hard to find (use the leftmost door in the building behind the tables). All said, I would definitely eat lunch here again.
google avatar

Rob L.

Yelp
It's an order-at-the-counter place which delivers the food to your table a-la-Panera style. The selections are pretty basic: soup, salad, burger, pizza, wrap, pasta, etc. It's very similar to most amusement parks cafes although I was quite surprised by the good quality of the food here. Prices are high, which is expected in these places: A burger is $13.95, spaghetti and meatballs costs $10.95, and a beef brisket entrée will set you back $16.95. Sodas are $2.95. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. What we ordered: Soup and Salad Combo ($10.50): The soup was split pea and cauliflower puree which was a very rich and smooth blender soup. It was served very hot and was really yummy! The salad was a nice blend of exotic greens (see picture) which were fresh and tasty. It was tossed in a slightly sweet and fruity vinaigrette which was delicious. Pepperoni and Italian Sausage Pizza ($11.95): It was a small personal size pizza with a crispy thin crust. I really liked the crust as it was thin enough that you can almost fold it, and crispy when you bite into it. It was loaded with a lot of pepperoni but only just a little bit of minced sausage pieces (see picture). The sauce was ok, good but not great. Overall, the food was better than I had expected, and it is not a bad place to grab a quick lunch or just a snack while you are at the Getty Villa.

Yelp
Expensive food that is just OK, but being located on the grounds of the Getty Villa is worth a premium. Plus, the setting and the vista are gorgeous. That evens out to a decent place to eat.

Yelp
Lovely setting in an incredible museum! Menu was somewhat limited, but lunch was tasty.
