Just popped by the downtown farmer's market yesterday with my family to celebrate my birthday. The mushroom and brie quiche I bought from Cake & Spoon was out of this world. I am blown away by both the quality of the food and Melissa herself. She is so kind and I loved chatting with her at the market. Please do yourself a favor and support this amazing business!

I just wanted to send a quick note about how much I enjoyed one of your pecan pies this week. My wife and I are from North Little Rock, Arkansas, and we just returned from a road trip to Houston and San Antonio. Our path home took us through Austin, and I was lucky enough to catch Franklin Barbecue at a slow point on Tuesday. I loaded up on 'cue, and ordered a pecan pie almost as an afterthought. I'm a 51-year-old man from the South, so I've had my fair share of pecan pies. This was, without a doubt, the best version I've ever eaten. I just felt obliged to let you know. Thank you for the wonderful treat. If I'm ever in Austin again, rest assured I'll make a point to get another.

Went to Franklins for brisket and ended up with a personal pecan pie to go with it. Like it so much I went and found her at a farmers market to buy 2 more.

We experienced pies at Franklin's and oh my; were they good! We had the pecan pie, key lime and bourbon banana pie and each of them were extremely tasty, Will definitely be back for more.

These are the best pies I've EVER had in my life. I'm 69 yrs old and believe me I've consumed a lot of pies in my life. The crust is so light and flakey OMG there are no words to describe how wonderful they are. I've gotten them with my order at Franklin's BBQ twice. I've had the pecan, key lime, Ruby's Dang pie, key lime & lemon chess each one outstanding & delicious. As I can only afford Franklin's about once a year could you tell me where else I can buy these wonderful mana from heaven 🥧 pies?

I got their scones at the Downtown Farmers Market. OMG good!

This is the best pecan pie we've ever had! I can't recommend it highly enough. Melissa is also super kind, and even came in on a Thanksgiving to help us pick up our pie after we had some confusion with the online ordering system.

I had the pleasure of a bourbon banana tart hand pie. Yes the barbecue at Franklin’s was indeed awesome but this pie...to die for! I wish I lived in Austin so I could have it again. It would be worth traveling back just for this pie. 🥰😋

A farmers market stand with so many indulgent looking baked goods. You know it's going to be a tough morning when you have to choose between pie and cake! But thankfully, whatever you choose, it will be great. Key Lime Pie: It's a good pie when you can't decide whether you like the crust or the filling more! The crust was one of those graham cracker crumble crusts. Instead of random clumps, it was uniform coarse granules and a nice buttery taste. Thick too! The filling was so creamy with nice tangy bursts of lime. Didn't have any of that funky curd aftertaste, which is a great achievement. Chocolate Pie: Looked like it might be a soft pudding pie, but the chocolate was more like a thicker ganache texture. Very rich! Had to eat it in two sittings. The buttery crust and whipped cream are essential to cut the chocolate intensity. Texas Pecan Pie: A very generous amount of fresh pecans on top. Lightly toasted so not to taste raw but also not overdone. Tons of goopy brown sugar filling underneath the pecans to give an intense sweet burst to the nuts and to the dough. And wow, that pie crust was firm and buttery and delicious, a real great pairing to the rest of the pie and I'm not normally one to care about crust. Buttermilk Pie: Essentially like a custard pie, where the custard is very buttery and very flowing. The runny pie filling was great against the familiar firm buttery crust. Not as intense as the other pies, but it works.

I have had their specialties at joints like Franklins BBQ and these are special bakery items. Made with care, rich and delicious that you can't go wrong with any of these items. Short but sweet review.

Mom's birthday and she doesn't like cake. What does she want? Pecan pie. I don't have a good recipe for pecan pie. So I Yelped and found this place. Praise Goddess! This pecan pie transported us. It was worth its weight in gold. It was the best pecan pie I have ever had. Granted... I haven't tasted every pecan pie. My cousin, an Austin native, had multiple pecan trees on her property. We made pecan pies together. But THIS pecan pie was in a league all by itself. It made my generous mother hoard the leftovers and hide them behind the condiments in the fridge. I never got to have a second piece!

Let me start of by saying that I never considered myself a PECAN lover, let alone one of pies. Now, I am no connoisseur, but, i'll be damned (excuse the french) if this isn't the BEST Pie. My brother picked a few pies along with our order from Frankline BBQ ( a moment of silence). I am a life long fan. So much so, that I have inquired about shipping these to NY for my wedding next year. Hopefully my guests don't see this. Each person will get one to take home! I spoke with Melissa on the phone. For someone who is super picky of dessert I have to say, if I see their product I will buy! The best pies and scones I have this side of the pond. Pies, not overly sweet and the perfect bite. The taste is right on even for picky key lime eater. My favorite is the banana bourbon, pecan pies and key limes. The flavor is right on and not artificial, unbelievably good. I typically can get this at Franklins BBQ or at the farmers market. Scones, what they are well known for at the farmers market. I am skeptical of scones outside of the UK because that's where I had the best and in the states they make it so hard that I have a hard time trusting. However cakes and spoons scones are very moist and the flavor comes thru so well. I am impressed! My mother in law had it and loved it also, however they don't ship pies but would special order for pickup. I can't wait for the next party to have these goodies. Very delicious and worth the trip to farmers market or franklin bbq. Heard they have a co-op that you can trivia it for tasting, that would be interesting!!

Pies here are amazing. No physical location, though it is at the Saturday farmers market and Franklin's BBQ. The pecan pie was the best I've ever had. Not too sweet yet just perfect with a buttery crumbly crust. I ate it gleefully over the course of three days, not sharing a crumb. I'd love to try the banana bourbon which I heard was also really amazing.

Cake & Spoon makes great scones, pastries, cakes, tarts - you name it! Everything I've tried from Cake & Spoon has been delicious. Their orange and chocolate scone is one of the best scones I've ever had - crumbly as scones should be, but more moist than any other scone I've had. I've never had anything like their Spanish Almond Cake which is really moist and brings out the best of almonds.

Terrible pies and they don't open when they say there open. My husband and I called to order 220 pastries for our wedding. We came down there twice. Closed.

Tried the apple pie and chocolate orange scone, that I picked up from the Lakeline Farmer's Market. The scone had impressive giant chunks of chocolate. I couldn't taste the orange though and the scone overall was pretty basic. The apple pie however was excellent! Delicious flaky crust and perfect texture and sweetness on the apples. I ate it heated up with vanilla ice cream and it was one of the best apple pies I've had!

We have not eaten at this establishment- but I will tell you we waited in line at Franklin BBQ for hours and the mini pies from Cake and Spoon were the only thing we enjoyed! We will have to find them at a farmers market next time we are in Austin. For sure a must stop! The blueberry pies are AMAZING. Life changing! I just wish they could come to SA for a weekend!!

Perfectly delightful, high quality carrot & pineapple cake with heavenly cream cheese icing which made a big hit without friends for a special man's birthday! Thank you for being there when I couldn't make one from 3-states away! Rave reviews for deliciousness!!

Stumbled upon this place at the Lakeline Farmer's Market and I'm so glad that we did! We bought a scone and ate it before leaving - it was so good we turned around and bought 3 more, a sausage roll and several quiche. Everything was so incredibly good. The scones were perfect. The pie crust was the best I have ever had (I actually don't like pie crust but this stuff changed my mind!). The flavors in the quiche were amazing. The lady at the booth was very nice and helpful. Do yourself a favor and check this place out!!!

We went to Franklin's during our Austin visit. Got the pecan pie, and it was delicious. We went back and picked up two more pecan and a bourbon banana. Definitely recommend it!!

Cake & Spoon, if you create a storefront, you will make my dreams come true. It's difficult for my husband and I to make it to Austin early on a Saturday morning for farmer's markets as we are at Fort Hood, but Cake & Spoon is so delicious that it makes getting our butts out of bed early on a weekend morning absolutely worth it. It doesn't hurt that the lovely ladies are always so pleasant to us. We have tried several baked goods from Cake & Spoon, including the chocolate hazelnut tart, apple walnut cake, date scone and blackberry almond bar. Everything has been absolutely delectable, incredibly fresh, and perfectly balanced so that it's not overpoweringly sweet. Although we try to hit up new stands every time we go to the farmer's market, we make an effort to buy something from Cake & Spoon every time because we know we are guaranteed to something tasty. In fact, on a trip to Franklin BBQ we ordered lemon chess and key lime pies simply because we knew they were from Cake & Spoon, despite the pounds of meat we were already planning on consuming. The simple fact that all of my pictures of Cake & Spoon's desserts already have a bite taken out of them should mean something. It took a whole lot of self control to pause to take a picture before devouring the rest of it.

My friend went to franklins and I had her bring me back the banana bourbon pudding pie...yep, I picked pie over bbq and it didn't dissapoint. The crust and filling were delicious and overall it was rich and sweet and a great dessert. Seems like they are only open at a farmers market and one of these I want to make it out there to try their chocolate pie and get another banana one.

I get Cake and Spoon goodies from the Saturday farmers market downtown. I haven't tried anything there that I didn't like, but their standouts are their fresh strawberry scones (when strawberry are in season) that have whole strawberries in them, their pillowy Chelsea buns, and their peach galettes.

I am not generally the person who buys sweets from a bakery. However, 2 weekends ago, I hit this place up at the downtown SFC Farmers Market with Yolanda G. She had read about their Dark Chocolate Espresso Shortbread. OMG! OMG! OMG! It is like three buttery, espressoey, chocolatey vices in one! The best part, you taste those in heightened abundance and NOT the sugar. Yes! Yes! Yes! All I need is some prosecco and a *cigarette. Ahhhh! BTW - I went back this past Saturday to buy more. My Name is Darla A., and I am in love with Cake and Spoon's Dark Chocolate Espresso Shortbread and I cannot get enough. Items experienced: Southern-Style Apple Walnut Cake with a Toffee Glaze Carrot Cake with fresh Pineapple and Pecans filled and iced with Cream Cheese Buttercream Bourbon Banana Pudding Pie Texas Pecan Pie First discovered as the provider of decadent desserts at Franklin Barbecue, the punched up semifreddo-style pudding pie far better than any of the smoked meats per my palate, it was with gluttonous delight and good fortune that I again encountered Melissa Brinckmann's superlative locally sourced cakes, pies, cookies, and scones en route to my car after brunch at Lambert's. At five years old still without brick and mortar, instead opting to keep it simple and fresh at several local restaurants and markets such as Saturday's Sustainable Food Center Downtown Market it was to a wide variety of items and a friendly clerk happy to tell Cake and Spoon's tale that I was greeted and simply asking her what was "best" after a ten minute chat my attention was directed to a trio, the flaky crusted caramelized pecan pie I'd already swooned for at Franklin and two cakes just as good. Admittedly full after a heavy day of eating thus far but unable to resist a bite...or six...after snapping photos it was with the dense apple cake that I began, a just-set pudding texture greeting me with soft apples and plenty of cinnamon set against nuts with brown sugar, and saving the rest for later - even better gently warmed - I turned attention to the carrot cake, a supple crumb laced with texture and spice divided to layers by cloudlike buttercream, the cream cheese tang proving an ample foil to the natural sweetness of pineapple.

I don't know where to start...just had a quiche from Cake and Spoon and it left me completely speechless. Few things in life ever taste so perfect. I'm so glad we stopped in at the Lakeline Farmers Market! My wife had a Chocolate Ganache cake that was equally good! Very fluffy and tasty. Can't wait to go back and try the Pecan Pie!

Cafe Caffeine in South Austin is the only place to get Cake and Spoon items other than directly from Melissa at the farmer's market. Since I work there, I've been lucky enough to try everything we get from C&S: * scones (double ginger and cream, fresh pear with cinnamon, and dark chocolate with sour cherries) * tarts (chocolate with hazelnut, frangipane with seasonal fruit, pecan, and lemon curd) * cheesecake (with seasonal fruit toppings) Most coffee shops around here get their baked goods from Quacks. We did, too. I'll say I never had a problem with any of the fine products Quacks offers, but C&S definitely kicks it up a notch. We're talking the best in town.

I heard about this place n had to try it. I think it's called cake n spoon because u will want to spoon these cakes! I bought 30 bucks worth of stuff which pretty much is close to half my farmers market budget. And I don't regret buying a single thing. I got the chocolate cocoa baby cake, the lemon custard baby cake, the key lime tart, the lemon lavender shortbread bars, the ginger scone n a red onion quiche. In short: oh my heck! Everything I heard was true: their baby cakes were soooo moist! The flavors, just so perfect, the scone-- who would ave thought to put candied ginger in one? This place puts bountiful bakery to shame. Yep, seriously . I will splurge on cake and spoon whenever I go to the farmers market -- it's worth it for quality bakery items. I hope they never get a storefront because I'm afraid the quality might suffer-- and I'm greedy-- no one else needs to hear of their good stuff. Just wish I could order a birthday cake without paying $4 a slice-- how many slices in one anyway? I got to got to try everything u make now Mmmmmm till next week

I am getting really tired of places like Cake & Spoon, they have officially ruined me for any other bakery desserts. If I'm not dreaming about their Lemon Curd tart, I'm wide awake craving it. It was beyond my wildest expectations, and absolutely PERFECT, PERFECT, PERFECT!!! The crust alone puts my grandma's recipe to shame. I'm so glad that I don't live in Austin, because if I did I would eat Cake & Spoon desserts for every meal. I would be so fat & happy. Please deliver out of state! Delicious, local ingredients. Doesn't get any better.... Yum!

I often go to the Farmers' Market on Saturdays just to get a scone. I'm a scone addict so I've pretty much had them everywhere. No where even holds a candle to Cake and Spoon. They actually shouldn't even be compared; it's unfair. These scones are from another level of existence that cannot fairly be compared with the scones of mere mortals. Mmmmmm, is it Saturday yet? Does Cafe Caffeine still sell these scones? Because reading that in a review below pretty much just made me the happiest girl in the world.

I am no pastry or sweets man, but I do like a good bit of gluten in my diet every now and then. The aspect of selling baked goods at a farmer's market is admirable, especially in this day and age of mass-produced breads and baked goods. Heck, even artisan bakeries are commonplace now. This dedication to bring confections to a market provides a nice change of environment to your typical coffee and pastry at the local sandwich shop. Cake and Spoon takes a stand with boldness, wielding quiches on the left and scones on the right. It even offers some cakes and bars to boot. I grabbed some things on my way to a brewery picnic, and they made great beer snacks. The quiche has a nice crust, and the scones are solid and rich. There is plenty to try here, so head on over to the market and see what it is like to eat a freshly baked good with some coffee outdoors with hipsters abound.

Baked good are my weakness and Cake & Spoon is my kryptonite. Found them at the Cedar Park FM this weekend and managed to escape before I bought the whole booth (I was sore tempted). Beween two of us we've eaten a spinach quiche, a lemon custard tart, a piece of Italian cream cake and some flap jacks all in the space of a lazy Sat morning. This place is that dangerous. Everything was was fall on your face delicious- the lemon perfectly tart & smooth with a crust just perky enough to not be overwhelmed by its generous lemony creamy contents. The quiche was seriously one of the best I've ever had- not too dense but full of perfectly matched egg, cheese and spice. I'm already dreaming of sampling their scones next weekend. If you don't try this bakery, you'll regret it. Maybe not today but soon, and for the rest of your life.

This spot (really open one day a week?*) supplies Franklin with their pies, which are fine but probably not worth getting unless you have quick and reliable storage. We liked the trio we tried, but not enough to justify a visit*.

Just returned from the Farmer's Market with a key lime tart for my daughter. Not sure she'll ever taste it unless she gets home quickly- it is so very good! Not too sweet, rich, perfect graham cracker crust- I'm in love. The chocolate hazelnut is incredible as well, as are the scones. Hope to try the quiche soon. Seek them out!

OK people. One word. Pastry snob. OK that's two words. But seriously. I LOVE pastries/baked goods. Baking was my stress relief in college and I was there for 9 years. So I got REALLY good at baking. And as such I am a total snob because I make some mean pastries. So I am usually disappointed by the various dried out scones, danishes with canned fruit filling and ho-hum blueberry muffins to be found around town. But the Cake and Spoon is the REAL thing. The fruit they put into their pastries is fresh and comes in these huge delicious chunks that you can feel when you bite in to them. And the surrounding pastry, be it a scone or a muffin or whatnot, is so delicious you would eat it without the fruit anyway. I absolutely love their stuff and definitely recommend anything they make!

I discovered Cake and Spoon at the downtown farmers market and was thrilled to see the stand again at the Triangle. I am picky, picky, picky when it comes to baked goods, so you have to trust me that their quiches are exemplary. The one I bought had greens and leeks, I think. Really, it didn't matter. The crust was so light and flaky and the custard had just the right silky almost jiggly consistency you don't find anywhere, and that's all I could focus on. I could substitute any add-in and be happy. Another nice thing is that one mini quiche can keep you full for several hours. Makes it well worth the $5. My kids had scones, too, but I can't help but go on about those quiches! I'll have to try other items on my next visit.

Wow. Just Wow. This is how you're supposed to make pies. With buttery graham cracker crusts that crumble as your fork cuts through it, along with creamy rich filling. We weren't able to grab the famous Bourbon pie they serve at Franklin's, but we definitely stopped by the farmers market to try one of the lemon custard pies. So good. Almost worth waiting in line at Franklin's to try the Bourbon pie. Almost.

The baked goods here are to die for. Seeing them at the farmers market is such a treat. I love their keylime pie. I usually don't like keylime pie but this won me over. The grahm cracker crust is crumbly and fresh and goes perfectly with their keylime filling.

Quite possibly the best quiche in Austin, and well worth getting up on a Saturday morning and heading for the down-town Austin Farmers' Market. The Caramelised Red Onion one is particularly delicious. Only downside is having to queue behind people who don't know how to, and push ahead, and dogs. As of Nov 2011, $5 for a small quiche. Oh, they also have scones (but not the sort you'd have with clotted cream and jam) and cinnamon rolls, if you like that sort of thing.

Cake and Spoon...so delicious. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I look forward to picking up my goodies at the Cedar Park farmers' market each Saturday morning. They sell out really fast these days, so I recommend placing an order in advance if you know you'll be going, which you can do on Facebook or via email. You can now get their treats at Franklin BBQ and Hillside Farmacy as well. The scones are the main draw for me (ginger creme, pear cinnamon, dark chocolate orange or cherry, fresh blackberry...), and they beat every other scone I've had before - and that's a lot of scones. Other highlights are the quiches, key lime tart, dark chocolate hazelnut tart, blackberry almond and lemon lavender shortbreads, and anything with the lemon curd. The Chelsea buns are super sticky sweet, but nothing here screams "over-sugared". The baby cakes are very tasty and I love the flavor combinations (coconut cream, lemon poppyseed, sponge cake with homemade marmalade and buttercream...). Please do not cause me to gain weight.

Just drove in from Morrison Colorado to San Antonio to visit family. Had to get my fix of Franklins bbq in Austin, ordered these pies and Gosh dang was the best pies to go with Franklins, we'll be back

This place is amazing. Every time I go to the Farmer's Market, I have to stop by the Cake and Spoon stall. I've tried a couple of their delicious items -Bourbon Banana tart from Franklin's BBQ... with the hint of bourbon, it was wonderfully dreamy and smooth. -Frangipane Tart. The crust is flaky and buttery and the center was rich topped with fresh raspberries filling. Once you start eating it, it's difficult to stop. Definitely do not eat on an empty stomach, it will just leave you wanting more!

Awesome pies! Lots of filling. The lemon chess wasn't tart so we loved it. Blueberry scone was amazing -- soft, sweet, and crunchy. The lemon lavender scone was a little disappointing. Just bland. Didn't taste like lavender at all. Just a bit pricey. 2 pies, 1 shortbread cookie, and 1 scone came to $20.50!

I went to Franklin's and bought a bourbon banana pie and immediately had to research where Franklin's got it from... turns out it's cake and spoon. It is one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life... and I've had some good food/desserts in my life. I will definitely try to find them at the farmers market or wherever they are.

I was introduced to Cake and Spoon by a chance rendez-vous at Franklin's bbq trailer. Dear god they make amazing pies! As pie lovers, we were not about to skip dessert, so chose the personal-sized key lime and pecan pies (the 3rd option was Lemon Chess, which we later cursed ourselves for not taking to-go). Our pies came with business cards from Cake and Spoon, who had baked these gems and who were obviously born to do so. We are super pie nerds, with big demands for both crust and filling -- neither should be so buttery, flavorful, or sweet as to overwhelm the other. It's a tough trick, but Cake and Spoon executed it beautifully. The key lime pie crust was a perfect blend of graham and butter, with a tart sweet filing that managed a perfect custard texture even in 102 degree heat. The pecan pie was a real find, though -- too often pecan filling is all corn syrup and the sweetness is totally overwhelming. Not so here -- the pecan flavor was outstanding, with just enough sweetness to allow the pecans to really shine. This is one damn good dessert. Thank you Cake and Spoon, you made some unsuspecting pie-lovers very happy!

Over the last one year, we tried many different goodies from them. Love them all. Never had anything I did not like. My fave is ... No, not telling. I need to keep them for myself ;)

I'm glad I found cake and spoon. FANTABULOUS custom work. She made my wife a pistachio cake for her birthday and it was magnificent!! She was the only baker in town that would even take on the project. Most of the other "Bakers" and sweet shops would only make a vanilla cake with pistachio icing if they would even make one at all. Melissa did not even hesitate to respond. In fact she said "standard or vegan?" GOTTA LOVE IT!!! She actually made a cake with pistachio in the batter, pistachio butter-cream on top, and crushed pistachios all over. Take all your business to Cake and spoon! Do yourself that favor if you will only do one. If you don't like it, you don't know nuthin'...

Delish to tell the least! Very balanced, full of flavor, not too sweet. All-time favorite Lemon Tart. Other pies are also to die for tasty... Melts in my mouth so smoothly and satisfyingly...

The scones are the best I have ever had.......including some trips to the UK where scones are a matter of national pride. The quiche is also extraordinary. I wish there were more locations to buy these and other products from the bakery, but it is worth the drive to any one of the Farmer's Markets where their products are carried. Visited the downtown market this morning while walking the dogs and decided to try a fennel & gouda quiche from The Cake and Spoon ... totally wonderful, best quiche I have ever eaten. The filling was light and moist full of delicious cheesy, fennel flavor and the pastry was thin and crisp. Also shared a chocolate hazlenut tart and a blueberry scone, both of which were scrumptious. This will be a regular part of our Saturday morning walk in future!

I stopped by Royal Blue Grocery today for a snack, and on an indulgent whim, decided to treat myself to a Cinnamon Pear Scone from Cake & Spoon. Holy moly, I am SO glad I did! Hands down, this was the best scone I've ever eaten in my life (and I've eaten some scones, man!) Impeccable, delectable, divine - I will be seeking out more of these fantastic pastries in the future! Can't wait to try the Frangipane Tart! Love you already, Cake & Spoon!

At the cedar park farmers market today purchased the pecan pie tart and apple cake I was blown away with the depth of flavor and our moist the cake was. I will be coming back next Saturday.

Carmelized red onion and blue cheese quiche. OMG. I'm sure there is egg in there, but the flavor combination is sweet, tart, intense and not eggy at all. Plus the crust is incredible. Must try!

I found out about Cake and Spoon unexpectedly when I made a visit to Franklin Barbeque. They had some of their baked goods there and I went with the lemon chess pie. I'm pretty sure I forgot how good the barbeque was once I had a bite of the pie. Unfortunately, there aren't too many places that sell Cake and Spoon goods but you can bet it won't just be the bbq I look forward to get when I go to Franklin's.

We tried the Texas pecan pie. It was good but a little to sweet for our tastes. The key lime pie on the other hand was delicious. We got the pies from Franklin's BBQ.

Are you headed to the downtown farmer's market this weekend? Add some delicious decadence to your vegetable virtuousness. Cake and Spoon has perhaps the most delicious tarts, both sweet and savory, anywhere. My daughter's favorite? Lemon curd. Mine? It's a hard pick, but the tomato and goat cheese may be the winner, with carmelized onion and blue cheese just losing out by a hair. The secret to both sweet and savory is the incredible flaky crust and super creamy fillings.
