Pub with chandeliers and patterned wallpaper, staging a regular series of classes and comedy nights.
"“I’m mainly writing about this majestic plate of fried sprouts for professional purposes, but also partly to freak my step-dad out. You see, sprouts were a serious cause of childhood tantrums in my house, mostly because it was the one vegetable I didn’t like that our pet dog also refused to eat under the table. There was no way to hide the evidence. But who would have thought that 20 short years later I would find a plate of sprouts covered in fried breadcrumbs, thyme, and pickled red onions that would win my ultimate accolade of saying the word ‘yum’ in public. Incroyable.” - HLB" - oliver feldman, heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak
"The Camberwell Arms have launched an online shop where from Wednesday to Sunday you can shop for collection or delivery of some of their signature dishes, like beef and bone marrow pie. You can also shop for booze. Order here and make sure you get in quick." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak
"Ah, The Camberwell Arms. That smell of butter in the air. That big old-school dining room. Those inevitable three pints you weren’t planning on but oh well, you were just having such a nice time. This spot in Camberwell does have excellent food, from huge pork chops to banging pasta dishes, but it still very much feels like a boozer where no one’s going to judge you for getting through two bottles of wine on a Tuesday. The seasonal British menu changes daily but whatever they’ve got going on on their blackboard, you know you’re in safe hands. " - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, sinead cranna
"You haven’t celebrated a birthday in a few years. Don’t worry, we took losing our 25-and-under railcard pretty hard too. The bastards. But The Camberwell Arms is perfect for a big birthday when you’re someone who doesn’t necessarily want to make a big deal. This merry old school pub is much more about sticky pork fat and scotch bonnet on toast than sticky carpets, and you can expect friendly, upbeat service, plenty of pints, and banging seasonal food. All without too much fuss. Be sure to book ahead to make sure you secure one of their bigger group tables." - heidi lauth beasley
"You take cover in a pub when it is hot, cold, rainy, a little grey, or simply a day when you don’t know what to do with yourself. The Camberwell Arms is an excellent choice for any and all of these days. The cavernous gastropub has plenty of bar space up front where natural light is present but not overbearing, plus lots of tables for a meal that should certainly end in sorbet. There’s also an exposed brick wall that you can press your face up against in a sweat-based emergency. " - jake missing, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak
