Just what the neighborhood needed .this restaurant is about a block down from eastern parkway and public transportation the 4 5 2 3 trains to Franklin ave Meger Evers station. Up and down Franklin there is a lot of choices of restaurants but this spot is unique in its Irish pub feel and some actual employees from the emerald isle. The Buffalo wings are amazing and the burger always comes out hot and delicious. A must try is the Irish coffee and the mohito mo problems drinks. The staff is personable and friendly . Enjoy the wide variety of music. And Sarah the waitress/ bartender is amazing!

The Canary, my new go-to. I recently changed work neighborhoods, and this place instantly became my favorite. The bartenders are friendly, the atmosphere is laid back and welcoming, and late nights are full of industry folks, the kind of crowd that makes it feel like a neighborhood spot. To top it off…the have the NFL ticket (as a Seahawks fan, that’s gold it is nearly impossible to catch a game on this side of the country, but here they’ve got me covered). Great food, great vibe…exactly what you want in a pub. I love this place. Simple as that.

Nipped in here to escape the rain... and what a find! We had a few pints of some of the best Guinness I've ever tasted in Brooklyn. Served by lovely staff and in proper size pint glasses too! At $10 a pint, you really cant go wrong. Practically free! Cant wait to go back and try the food menu.

Popped in today for the first time, (thanks eater) that spice bag was everything I needed perfect amount of heat love the thai chili's. Curry was spot on as well!!! Creamy pint of Guinness, and to top it all off an amazing bartender who was extremely attentive and hospitable!!! Canary I will be back!!! Those sausage roll's and the full Irish better watch out!!!!

I discovered this awesome pub only last night! ! The ambiance is everything, so cozy. Great fast service. The food is fresh and delicious. I indulged in the chicken BLT w/ fries😋 I also had Irish coffee, a must try!! Very AFFORDABLE, considering what some other places charges for less quality. food&drinks. Cheers🍻

This was surprisingly a really good bar. It’s a very narrow spot but great! The staff is very kind, food came relatively quickly. Drinks were strong! We came during happy hour (4-8pm). We got a $10 mojito, spicy marg, $6 Chardonnay, $14 Old Bay wings, $8 truffle fries. Food was great! The booth seats on the left side were quite narrow but we had a good time here and will certainly be back again!

Immaculate vibes, the bartender is amazing, and the curry sauce in the spice bag is to die for. 10/10 would come again and again

I went last Friday night and it was busy; the bar is a bit on the small side so peak times can be crowded and the stools that they have at the tables are hard and somewhat uncomfortable but other than that it's a great spot . They pour a great Guinness and everyone seemed to be having fun . I tried their smash burger with fries and I did enjoy the burger but the fries are really, really, good. I would go back just for the fries alone .

My husband and I randomly dropped in for brunch and OMG... it was so good! We each got a cocktail (~$13 each) which were delicious. Then we shared 2 entrees, but there were so many items on the menu that looked good. Brunch smashburger - really generous serving, the meat and accompaniments were fantastic with perfectly cooked thick cut bacon. Fries were solid pub fries. Truffle egg and Prosciutto- served on what tasted like housemade English muffin. Prosciutto was perfectly crisp and not too gamey. Eggs had a good level of Truffle but wasn't overpowering. Side salad was refreshing though maybe a little heavier on dressing for our preference. Service was efficient and friendly. Was a relaxed atmosphere, busy but not chaotic. We absolutely plan to return, as their snacks and dinner menus also look really good.

My daughter lives near the Canary, and she took me over for a drink. It definitely is a popular place. It was rocking at 6:30 on a Wednesday. We lucked out and got to seats along the wall adjacent to the bar. I loved the energy and ambience. It is definitely a local's place. My daughter had a Guinness draft, and I had a take-off of an old-fashioned. It was an excellent cocktail. Very smooth, well-balanced, and nicely sized. Prices were reasonable as well I almost forgot about the service. We had an EXCELLENT server. Drinks were served promptly, and she was friendly despite the sheer number of people that she had to serve. We liked it so much that we went back after dinner! Give it a try when visiting Brooklyn, or if you're looking for a new place to try if you live there.

Went with my family, perfect for adults or adults with children! Has a bar and kitchen. I had a cheeseburger and Guinness on draft. Great service, will be back!

Just what the neighborhood needed! This is the ultimate in Irish pubs . With some actual employees from the emerald isle. The Buffalo wings are the best in the area and you have to try the burger and fries. It has just the right lighting to make a night out with spouse or just friends and if you get there before 8pm you might get a seat at the bar . My wife came here and played trivia along with my mother in law. What a treat .

Best mojitos! So refreshing and delightful. Also had the pretzels with the different dips. Devoured it and forgot to get a picture - by the time I remembered it was too late. Super yummy. We ate outside during the block party and what a time. Our waitress was attentive and sweet. Would definitely return to try a few other items on the menu.

This is my neighborhood bar. When I think to myself "I want a drink," this is where I think to go to. The bartenders here are cool and very talented. I'm bad with names, but the French bartender makers custom drinks and can speak to any palate. The food is high quality, especially for a pub environment. I've had the truffle cheese steak and the pretzel. Both were outstanding. The happy hour is a sweet deal, especially for Franklin avenue.

The Canary is a cozy neighborhood bar located in Crown Heights. It was a nice place to enjoy a cold beer and some good food after a picnic in Prospect Park. Service was friendly and accommodating. I sprained my ankle and was wearing a medical boot so the server immediately asked if we wanted a table in the back-that was really nice. They have a good selection of beers on draft including several local options. The smash burger was juicy, flavorful and came with a good portion of thick cut fries. The fish 'n chops were also tasty. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the area. Cheers!!

Wish we had such a gem of an Irish pub near us, serving fabulous pints of Guinness and fantastic food and cocktails as well. Friendly fast service despite the narrow bar and an authentic high quality experience. Top class and hope to be back.

I'm gonna be real with you Yelp, I usually end up here when I'm already drunk which is why I've held off reviewing until now but whatever. It's a good place and I like it! It's got a slightly upscale pub feel (unless you can snag that one great booth at the front of the place) but the menu is more aligned with normal pub prices. I've gotten chicken fingers here before with truffle aioli which was genuinely outstanding -- give me truffle everything all the time thank you. I also enjoy their cocktail menu which has a lovely cucumber gimlet and this great "gin lizzy" thing with vanilla and almond and passion fruit and all sorts of tasty things. Maybe one day I'll come here and get brunch or something. Yknow, get drunk to start here instead of the opposite. One day.

Awesome happy hour and great espresso martini. Vibes are impeccable. Haven't tried the food yet, but looking forward to it.

Celebrated my birthday here and we ended up staying the entire night instead of going to a second place, like we had agreed to. Although our food was delayed, it was reaaally good, and our drinks were coming fast. Really loved the vibe of this place, and they were also playing great music!

In short: cocktails were a bit underwhelming but food is tasty. Came here for brunch on a weekend and place was pretty empty; no reservation needed (don't think they even take them). Ordered an espresso martini and an Irish coffee and can't say I was that impressed with either, but enjoyed both entrees we ordered. Was missing the full English breakfasts I had while in the UK (one of my favorite aspects of English food), so I got the traditional Irish breakfast and it definitely satisfied my craving. Surprisingly, I found myself really enjoying the black and white puddings (have never been the biggest fan in the past). Thought they were seasoned really well. Eggs (over easy) were cooked perfectly and sausages were yummy; beans were good too. Kerrygold butter was a nice touch. My sister's truffled scrambled eggs were also delicious (great flavor, very fluffy). Her side salad was fresh and nicely dressed as well.

Delicious fries nice ambience a little crowded and no place to sit on trivia night during happy hour but it's a nice place. I will go back.

I have a service dog because of my medical needs as I suffer from epilepsy and have seizures. When I walked in to see my friend, they were telling me I had to go because I could not have my dog with me. I tried explaining to them that it is a service dog but they continued to try and tell me that she could not be with me. I tried explaining the rules of the ADA and then they tried asking me to show paperwork. The ADA makes it so they are only allowed to ask us 2 questions- "is that a service dog?" And "what task does your service dog perform?" And the staff at the canary were asking more than that and trying to say I had to give them paperwork. I did stay, but at the end they were threatening me that if I was to be rude to them again I wouldn't be allowed there. I wasn't being rude, I was just defending myself and my rights of having service dog for my medical needs.

Great place with a chill vibe, good drinks, and food. I had the pleasure of hanging at the canary for my friends birthday get-together. We had a nice time catching up. A few rum and cokes and the Buffalo wings hit the spot. The birthday man had a good time between the beers, cocktails, food, bartender, and server. The canary is a definite place to check out.

A delightful addition to the array of restaurants and bars on Franklin Ave! The Canary is a new bar with the style of a classic Irish pub but the feel of something more modern. Happy Hour runs til 8 every day (9 on wednesdays), and there are other daily events including Taco Tuesdays and Trivia Mondays, which I plan to check out soon. I came for happy hour around 6:30 on a Thursday. Had no trouble getting a table for two, but it did start to fill up pretty soon afterwards. The drink I ordered, the Gardiner's Gimlet, was only $10 and delicious. Cucumber and basil meshed perfectly with the gin to create a smooth, refreshing cocktail. There is a food menu but I didn't order anything, so I can't speak to any food items.

I went there with a friend to celebrate my birthday and it was trivia night. It was very nice and attentive despite the crowds. The ambience was giving very romantic but enjoyable. I had the vegan burger and it was good. The espresso martini was good.

The most amazing little pub with a great menu. This is a gem of a place. The bartenders are extremely friendly and welcoming, whether you're a newbie or longtime local. I just met one of the bartenders tonight and we were laughing and BSing like we'd known each other for years. I had a the truffle burrata cheesesteak with truffle fries and it was everything you would expect from the name. Everything was extravagantly overdone with truffle, which I loved. The bar is on the smaller side but felt like a quaint, local place where everyone knows the person next to them, it at least they will before the night is through. You can't help but jump into a conversation and meet new friends. Would definitely travel the hour or so subway ride from Manhattan again just to come here.

A time was had , it's definitely a small cozy bar. Our server was amazing , I had the Philly cheese sandwich I believe it was . It was so good !, I highly recommend!. I didn't give a 5 star due to it being so tightly cramped for our party of 5.

The restaurant seems to truly care about quality. The team is warm and welcoming. Their dishes use good quality components without exception. The food satisfies and the space feels right. This place provides a superior experience.

Ambiance 10/5 I wish this place gets more attention, but at the same time, I hope this place can stay hidden as well so it will never get crowed. I came here on a Sunday night, and the have a small band here playing Irish music. It was such a happy vibe and it had made you want to stay longer and don't want to leave Drink 5/5 Cocktails are a hit or miss, but I like the fruity drink I ordered. Service 5/5 I honestly think everyone looks so happy and nice here is because the music. 10/10 would come back again

Great vibes, love that the servers/ bartenders were Irish too lol. The food was delicious, we got a Kale salad with Chicken and a Smash burger. They nailed both dishes. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area!

Such a cute wee place in the neighborhood, I'm so glad it opened! It was very festive when I was in over Christmas and felt really cozy and homely. The staff are so friendly and attentive, with a good selection of drinks. I loved the curry chip and sausage rolls! Was just like being back in Ireland. I can't wait to come back!

The Canary is a great addition to the neighborhood! We came here for happy hour and had a nice time. They have great happy hour deals ($10 signature cocktails and $6 well drinks and select wine). I got the watermelon drugstore and the gardener's gimlet and both were tasty and a great value. We also ordered the pretzel, and although it was delicious and seemed freshly made, it was smaller than we were expecting for the price. Happy hour usually goes until 8pm on weeknights, but it goes until 9pm on Wednesdays. I was surprised at how busy it gets on weeknights! They also have trivia on Mondays and taco Tuesdays.

Everytime i Côme here, i forget write something. Drinks are amazing. The bartenders Kelbel aveen and that Irish stud are amazing i wish i could recall his name but he knows who he is. lol. Everyone is so nice. Watermelon drugstore is my fav and truffle fries. The place is such a vibe.

This is our second time here, and it's just as good as the first! We used to live down the block before they opened about a year ago, so we had to check it out. Came on St Pattys Day for a Guinness and we were happy to see the Premier soccer league on. Big soccer fans here, so that's why we came back a second time for brunch. Since we came for a soccer game, we decided to do the 90 minute bottomless for $25. It's already about the cost of 3 beers ($7-9 each) but also includes bloodys, mimosas and some beers, so it was perfect. We ordered the Huevos Rancheros (Mexican at an Irish pub - it was good!) and the Truffle Scramble with Prosciutto. Loved the later, eggs were super fluffy and the truffle butter on the English muffin was perfectly subtle. This place was packed on St Pattys (including live music!) and definitely gets busy after 12/1pm. No doubt it'll get more popular as word gets out, especially for soccer fans as there are ample tvs throughout. The owner Red also makes a presence and ensures everyone's having a good time. Great service. Yummy food. Wonderful atmosphere. Great drink prices. Highly reccomend.

Great music and a nice homey vibe. The staff is very attentive. Only came to get hot cider, but I was a nice experience nonetheless. I wish there was more seating because on weekend nights it does get very packed.

everything is cool...gonna give this place a 5 star rating based on Carl and then Lizzie. I walked in with a friend and Carl was so nice to greet us and we felt totally at home. Of course he was nice, he was Irish! Of course, I ordered a guiness. The pour was great and my friend ordered a Mo Margarita MO problems cocktail. She thought it was kind of weak but was promised to toughen it up next time. Ordered Marcona Almonds, Truffle cheddar pretzel and the burrata cheesesteak. All quite good.. Definitely a place to return often!

This is my husband an my favorite neighborhood spot. We come maybe twice a month and have a drink and dinner at the bar--the truffle burrata cheesesteak is so delicious. The regular cheesesteak is great as well, We tried out their brunch for the first time, got the truffled scrambled eggs and the traditional Irish breakfast, and everything was so darn delicious. As my husband put it, "the food has no business being this good!" Always a great vibe. The bartenders and servers are always friendly. Gets crowded later in the night, so we do tend to be the early birds. It seems like it's a Mancester United bar for soccer, so can get crowded for brunch (the first time we tried to get brunch it was way too crowded with people watching the match so we left).

Came for happy hour (until 8pm!) and stumbled upon Monday night trivia. The bar was packed with people and great energy. Despite the rush, service stayed super quick and the staff was super personable/attentive! Both the espresso martini and vodka lemonade made w/ fresh lemon juice were delicious. As a Dubliner, I may be biased, however, the Irish breakfast was one of the best. The bottomless addition allowed me to relax on a Sunday afternoon solo with a few mimosas-I will make this a monthly excursion Staff are great And a really clean and atmospheric bar

I was really excited to try this place out. The restaurant is very cute, and the servers were very nice. The cocktails we ordered were watered down and not good. We ordered the fries and the chicken tenders. The fries were soggy and lacked flavor. The chicken tenders were overpowered by pecorino romano cheese which ruined the chicken flavor. Not sure if I would give this place another chance.

Yet another great experience at The Canary. Went for a long walk in the rain and had a hankering for a burger. Glad I stopped in to The Canary. The burger and fries were hot and delicious (think Corner Bistro burger). Great atmosphere, a great "winter" bar. Wonderful service. Thanks again.

Not bad at all! As others have mentioned, the cocktails are definitely a highlight. I loved the mojito, and the Gin Lizzy was good too, especially during the $10 happy hour--that was awesome. The smash burger was solid, though it's not my favorite (there are so many options in this city, so no criticism here!). The long bar and cozy tables in the back made for a nice atmosphere.

Best neighborhood bar ever. Great ambiance and service. Aveen, Carl and Tom are great bartenders. The food is constantly great. I suggest the curry fries, the steak sandwich and a pint. To sum this establishment up in one word it would have to be "GREAT".

I have been meaning to write a review about this place for a while . I came here during the summertime and had probably one of the best burgers in a very long time . As someone who used to bartend in the neighborhood, I really appreciate great food with the ambiance to match it . Now that I'm back to working in the neighborhood, you will see me here more often !
