If a chain restaurant gets a good rating from me, it has to offer superior cuisine, a certain amount of atmosphere, and above all, service that treats every patron differently - because we are all different, and have different needs. Capital Grille hits all of these, some better than others, but enough to provide a pleasant and memorable dining experience.
I came here for a graduation dinner where our party ranged in age from 5 to the mid-60s. Now, Capital Grille is not a kid's restaurant, and I wouldn't recommend bringing the youngsters here, but due to circumstances beyond our control we had them with us. The staff was quite accommodating of us and managed to configure enough of the selections so the little ones could enjoy a tasty and nutritious meal without getting bored with their food and with no incentive to voice boredom or displeasure with their meals.
For us adults, the menu was what we expect at a Capital Grille - which is to say, very high quality meals cooked as we would like and presented tastefully. I usually go for steak here but went instead for lamb chops on this occasion. It's possible to overprepare lamb so that it loses its flavor in a sea of sauces an flavorings, but the chefs here kept all of the ancillary ingredients in just enough of the right proportions that I could really taste the meat without having my taste buds distracted. Nice work!
I didn't drink, so no comments on the the alcohol portion of the meal. Service was exceptional, and perhaps even more so that it had to be, for one of our party required some special accessibility, both inside and outside the restaurant. We needn't have worried about that, because the staff figured how to get her in and out of the place with absolutely no disruption or difficulty for her or for other patrons. I've given 4 stars on the basis of this visit, and I might easily go to 5 if my next visit matches my experience this time.
