Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten Tapped to Revamp Historic Hermitage Hotel’s Culinary Operations | Eater Nashville

"Once a century-old dining stalwart inside the Hermitage Hotel, the Capitol Grille focused on sustainable farming practices to supply its vegetables and, under Executive Chef and Farmer Tyler Brown, featured a menu aimed at preserving classic Southern dishes; it was one of the city’s oldest restaurants and historically welcomed notable chefs such as Sean Brock and Tyler Brown during his 13-year tenure." - Delia Jo Ramsey

Fine dining at its best. This restaurant is a must try. Perfect for a romantic night out or any celebration. The service was outstanding and the food, I mean it was perfection. My bf had steak and said it was to die for lol The drinks made very well, string the way I like. 10/10 spot , will definitely return.

We celebrated a milestone birthday for my younger sister at The Capital Grille, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The food was phenomenal with generous portions—every dish felt special. The steak was incredibly tender and packed with flavor, cooked to perfection. The dessert selection was thoughtful and delicious, a perfect sweet ending to a memorable night. From start to finish, the atmosphere and service made it feel like a true celebration. Such a wonderful place to make lasting memories with loved ones.

Google
This is a great steakhouse to celebrate a special occasion such as an anniversary, marriage or birthday. There are other options other than steak if you wanted (fish, chicken, lamb). The service was great - my water was filled everytime it was empty which is huge for me - and the dishes/utensils were changed out frequently. They had a specials menu with a gold standard wagyu steak. We ordered it but later were told that they ran out which was a bummer. For that, they ended up comping our dessert plate which was beautiful! We had no problem getting a reservation 1 hour prior to arriving on a Saturday night (830pm) but I’ve heard this is rare and normally you need reservations earlier than that for a weekend

I love this restaurant. We went for the generous pour, which is our favorite time of the year. Good wine, great portions, and the food as always tastes delicious.

Google
We made the reservation over the phone and told them that today is our anniversary, when we arrived we found that they prepared a romantic table for us with cute red hearts on it and also an envelope with a congratulatory message from the restaurant. As for the food, the beat salad was delicious and fresh and I liked the special thing that they put pistachios in it. The Mac & cheese was average for me, I felt that it lacked a little salt. The steak was really delicious. Service 10/10, the waitress who was with us was very nice and respectful. The place is elegant and I recommend it to celebrate any occasion or for a romantic dinner. Oh finally before I forget, when we finished eating and ordered the dessert menu, our waitress brought the dessert plate in the picture and presented it to us as hospitality. It was very nice.

Google
I have mixed feeling about this place because the food is so good but it's also sooooooo overpriced - it's also a little too stuffy, in my opinion, especially for being in a mall. The ambiance is very pretty with dim lighting and clean, dressed tables. The front waiting area has cubby boxes with names on them for all the big spenders to keep their expensive alcohol in their pretentious boxes. The wait staff were so attentive and professional, with gloved hands behind their backs when not serving. It was a little much for me. I understand there is a standard to uphold in these types of restaurants but I like things a tad more casual, and I prefer personality over military-like service. But they were definitely on point - every time I came back to the table, my napkin was refolded and my water glass filled. Excellent attention to detail. The food was very good. I understand expensive steak houses all work this way, but it's so hard to justify spending $100 on just the steak - no sides included. Each side was priced at $14-ish also, so if you wanted a potato and vegetable with your steak, it's very expensive. The portions are also a bit small for the prices. But the flavor and tenderness of the steaks were incredible. The desserts are good, but not worth the expense, in my opinion. Overall, I would come back here again because I have a gift certificate. Otherwise, I probably would not spend the money. I have been to other expensive steak houses (Ruth Cris, Gordon Ramsey, Mortons, Peter Luga, etc) and I think some of those are more worth the prices.

Google
This place is amazing. Everything listed is fantastic. The sommelier was very informative and the food was excellent. We even me the chef.

Google
Had a great table in the small room in the back. Food was good overall. My filet was mostly tender but had a couple of parts that weren't filet tender. Apps were good. Scallops were good. Butternut squash soup a little thin. Risotto a little salty. Overall a nice experience.

Yelp
Came for a late lunch / early dinner after shopping in the mall. The host quickly seated us and held onto our bags so the table was not crowded. We opted to skip the apps this time around and just picked on the complimentary bread and butter. Chris F. was on point and attentive. For entrees we ordered the: Sliced Filet with mushrooms, onion, with a fig essence. Perfectly cooked and delicious. Dry aged NY Strip with Courvoisier Cream. Very nice steak and the cream complimented it well, I usually skip the cream/ sauce. I did have to add some salt to my steak. I felt it was a tad under seasoned. For the shared sides: Au Gratin Potatoes. Very tasty Sautéed Spinach. Very good, little too much oil IMO. After dinner, the table was crumbed, which I love. Too bad we skipped dessert. I've been here plenty of times and it's always good. Solid atmosphere and great service are always expected. Personal side note: I feel that if you list your calories on the menu, they need to be close to correct. It needs to be adjusted for accuracy. The NY Strip Steak without Courvoisier Cream can't be 20 calories less than the one with. I asked if they were the same steak and I was told it was.

Yelp
THE GOOD ---------------- + Food was very good. Not super spectacular, but as good as you would expect of this caliber of restaurant chain where the prices are nosebleed. ++++ Shrimp Cocktail was a bit pricey at $25 for 5 pieces, but you get what you pay for as they were jumbo and very fresh. ++++ Dry Aged NY Strip Steak Frites with Aji Verde was excellent. Cooked perfectly and cut into consumable pieces. Although it didn't seem huge, it was a very fair portion .. and it was just $32 for lunch! ++++ Filet Mignon with Creamed Spinach was very good. It's pretty much what you would expect for a Filet Mignon - tender, juicy and very, very flavorful. ++++ The Capital Grille Cheesecake was cooked brulee style with fresh berries on the side and it was the PERFECT dessert to cap off our meal - soft, savory and delicious. + Service was top notch (as expected). Everyone wished my wife and I a Happy Anniversary and every individual who serviced our table was A+ professional. ++++ There was a mishap with my order and I informed the waitress. A manager came out immediately, addressed it and "took care of us" and, let's just say, we were very, very satisfied with the resolution. Like I said, TOP NOTCH service. + Ambiance was fantastic inside. Perfect for any occasion, whether it is a special occasion or just casual meal, we noticed many people there for different reasons. + Interior is spacious and there are plenty of tables, but it's extremely well-spaced and roomy. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Nothing! Great all around meal and service! RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Was shockingly crowded on a random Monday afternoon. When we arrived at 11:45 AM, there were just a handful of customers, but by 12:30 it was prettttty busy. The crowd had a mix of random diners and business diners.

Yelp
- Attentive, confident waitstaff clearly well-trained in fine dining hospitality; greeted with warm smiles from the moment we arrived and throughout our meal - Came for an anniversary lunch--every staff member who passed by took the time to wish us a happy anniversary - Pristine dining room with ample seating and multiple private event spaces - Classic, rustic steakhouse ambiance with romantic undertones - Food was very good overall: shrimp cocktail--fresh, meaty, and nicely chilled; dry-aged NY strip steak frites with aji verde, duck fat fries, and herb aioli--steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked to a true medium as requested, fries were decent though not particularly memorable; lobster bisque--generous chunks of lobster though the broth could have used more depth and richness; filet mignon with porcini rub--initially overcooked but promptly replaced, the corrected version was tender, flavorful, and beautifully executed - Received a complimentary anniversary dessert duo: brûlée-style cheesecake (creamy and smooth) and flourless chocolate espresso cake (rich, dense, and indulgent); we had actually ordered the cheesecake, which we ended up taking home to enjoy later :) - Despite the brief steak hiccup, the exceptional hospitality made the experience truly special; staff went above and beyond to ensure we felt celebrated and well cared for on our special day!

Yelp
We went to Capital Grille for the "Wagyu and Wine" special. It was such a great value for a glass of wine and an amazing wagyu burger with fries. You can make a reservation or sit at the bar if there's seats available. The service is always impeccable.

Yelp
Service was great !! Food was very nice. Prices much higher because of inflation but all staff was friendly and great. Especially we had our toddler and they were kind

Yelp
Had a quick lunch but i definitely have to come back for dinner. What a classy well run place. Went for the lunch special. Soup or salad with entry. Great wait staff. Valet service. Started with clam New England clam chowder . Large amount of clams was creamy not over salted. Had sliced tenderloin with frites . Omg steak was so tender and cooked perfectly. Rosemary fries insane. Wife had the salmon with couscous it was perfect. Lunch much more reasonable if you want to try it out.

Yelp
We've been frequenting The Capital Grille for lunch for quite some time, and what keeps us coming back--beyond the consistently excellent food--is the outstanding service from our favorite waiter, Adrian. Every visit feels like a warm welcome, and the attention to detail, professionalism, and genuine hospitality never go unnoticed. He always remembers our preferences, offers thoughtful recommendations, and creates a relaxed yet refined dining experience. It's rare to find someone who makes every lunch feel special, and he's truly one of the best in the business. The Capital Grille is lucky to have him. Highly recommend both the restaurant and Adrian!

Yelp
Food was fantastic as usual. This time I came in and wanted to try the tomahawk veal chop. I asked if it came with anything and the server said no so I got a salad on the side I knew it was too big but got the dressing on the side so I can take the rest home. When the chop arrived it was on a bed of roasted mushrooms which ticked me off because I would not have gotten the salad. Aside from that the chop was cooked well and the salad was delicious.

Yelp
Without question the best steak, an exception service staff (thank you Joe Salvo) and all in a warm/friendly/fun atmosphere. Top Shelf and my hands down favorite.

Yelp
I love Capital! I'm not big on chain restaurants but this is an exception. Capital Grille maintains a high standard with their food, drinks and hospitality. A little pricey, but well worth it. We went for girls night last night during the Generous Pour event - my fave time of year! $45 for seven different wines, it's a great way to try new wines that you might not normally drink. It runs for another week if you're able to get a reservation We had the tuna tartare which had a little kick to it! Also has the prosciutto wrapped melon + Beets & Goat cheese salad. The salad was excellent. Try the Gorgonzola crusted Strip - it's so flavorful. For dessert, try the creme brûlée and the flourless chocolate cake, it's very rich. We also had the desert special which was the bourbon bread pudding with butter pecan ice cream and it was SO good.

Yelp
Always a great experience at Capital Grille, Paramus, especially since Mike was our bartender. Our steaks were cooked to perfection along with the potatoes au gratin and cream of spinach. Drinks were plentiful and our Bordeaux was spectacular! Highly recommend this location.

Yelp
This review is just for their burger and wine experience which was a wagyu burger of choice and a glass of duck horn wine of choice at the price of $35. This was a wonderful experience. I hope this deals comes around again. Steven was the best waiter ever, super friendly and knowledgeable. Great recommendations. Ambiance as always was great with dimmed lighting. Oh I forgot to mention don't skip the bread. It is delicious

Yelp
We were at Capital grille for weekend lunch to celebrate birthday occasion. We had a reservation and our table was ready on arrival. It was really nice to see they decorated the table and put a nice card. We loved all the dishes that included lobster bisque, crab cake, sea bass, salmon and NY strip steak. I liked the fresh mint lemonade as well. Our server Aaron was a pro, she has all skills. Was very nice of her and Capital grille to bring me a birthday dessert with candles on it. A perfect end to the wonderful dining experience.

Yelp
Went for birthday celebration with family. Nice restaurant and very friendly staff. They have us a complimentary dessert for birthday! I didn't like Bone-In Kona Crusted NY strip but I like everything else: crab cake, lamb lollipops, seafood entrees.

Yelp
Classy, elegance vibe with mahogany paneling and art deco chandeliers, this restaurant serves high end clientele. The restaurant is quite big. It has several dining areas and private dining rooms. I dined with several friends who dine there with their clients. They all say the steak is scrumptious. I ordered oysters, tuna tartar and filet mignon. The oysters were fresh and sweet. Tuna tartar was delicious and the steak was excellent, the staff were friendly and efficient, the atmosphere was great for conversation. I had a great dinner and a fun time catching up with

Yelp
Years ago before covid, I went to the Capital Grille for the wagyu and wine event. I saw on Instagram that they were having it again, so I immediately made a reservation. When you make the reservation, you have to make sure that you select the experience for the event. It is part of the Garden State Plaza Mall, but the entrance isn't inside the mall, therefore you do not feel like you are at the mall. There is also valet parking available. We arrived a little early because we didn't know how the traffic would be. When we first arrived, my first impression was that the place was so packed. Our table wasn't ready yet. We had a drink at the bar, which was SO crowded. We were able to stand at the end of the bar. Our table was ready a few minutes after our scheduled reservation. The restaurant is a lot bigger than it looks. I thought we would be sitting in the lounge area because of the event, but we were in one of the back rooms that was really nice. The place has a very elegant vibe to it. After we sat, we had some of the bread, and there were so many different options to pick from! We didn't want to over indulge and then be too stuffed for our dinner. We also had an appetizer of fried calamari, which was spicy! I don't think I would get it again, I would try something different. We all ordered the blue cheese and truffle burger. It was great, the serving size was large. It also came with tasty fries that were on the thicker side. The Duckhorn is always great, and one of my favorite wines. We will go back to this event next year. We also would go back when they don't have the event next time we have a special occasion or would like to have a fancy dinner. I look forward to trying one of their steaks. I have been looking for a bra that is comfortable but supportive for a while. I bought one years ago from VS during one of the sales, and haven't been able to find one since. I walked into the store and asked one of the sales associates to help me, and she brought me to this style. I said this is exactly what I have been looking for! It is comfortable to wear under t-shirts or around the house but still supportive. I think the price is reasonable for the quality. I will be purchasing more in the future.

Yelp
We visited Capital Grille for my birthday dinner. I've been to another location before but this was my first time at the Paramus location. I made reservations beforehand and said we were celebrating a birthday. They had confetti on the table and a cute birthday card. It was a really thoughtful touch. I also need to start by saying our waitress was the absolute sweetest. I can't remember her name but I'll update if I do. She made the entire dinner beyond perfect. The bread was amazing as usual. I'm not sure of the exact types but my favorite tasted like cheesy bread. We then ordered drinks. I went for the black tie margarita. It was very well made (very strong... so worth the money). I've had the Bohemian before and it is also really good. We also ordered the passion fruit mojito which was sweeter and delicious. For appetizers we ordered the tuna tartare with avocado, mango, and sriracha. I've had this before and there's a reason I ordered it again. The tuna is fresh and all the ingredients work so well together. We also ordered the lobster and crab cake with lemon basil aioli. The lobster and crab cake was the first appetizer to be finished. It was so good. It wasn't dense like some crab cakes can be. Our entrees came off of the specials menu they tell you verbally. I may be missing some of the details of the dish but I ordered the scallops over lobster risotto. The scallops were prepared ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY. They cut like butter and melted in your mouth. The risotto also had large chunks of lobster in it. I was afraid I'd regret not ordering a steak but this was absolutely not a mistake. I highly recommend. My parents ordered the wagyu steak with lobster tails added on. Again, cooked perfectly. They requested two different levels of doneness and that's what they received. The steak here is always delicious. For the table we got the au gratin potatoes and creamed spinach. The creamed spinach is always a go to. I prefer the mashed potatoes to the au gratin potatoes. For dessert they brought a plate out for free which was very generous. It had their cheesecake and chocolate cake. We thought we were full... but there's always room for dessert!! We also ordered the crème brûlée... because you just need to here. You won't regret it! If you're looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion it's definitely here. No matter the location I haven't had a negative experience and the food is always delicious and well prepared. Edit: Our waitress was Erin and she's the absolute sweetest!!

Yelp
Came to Capital Grille for my birthday and everything was chef's kiss. I had the Roasted Chicken Breast with Mushroom Parmesan Risotto one of the best risottos I've ever had. The chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked. Truffle fries and crab cakes were great too. Told our server Justin to surprise me with a drink, and he delivered with a refreshing pomegranate vodka spritz that I now dream about. Justin was an absolute delight constantly had us laughing. Benny was also amazing super attentive and kind. I said I didn't want dessert, but they brought out a full sampler anyway. The crème brûlée and flourless chocolate cake were out of this world. Can't wait to go back might start celebrating half-birthdays now.

Yelp
One of my favorite steak houses. Delicious food, generous portions & a very sexy, classy ambiance. Not very kid/toddler friendly (I.e no changing tray in restroom) but otherwise a great experience. Had the crab cake, filet mignon, lobster Mac & Brussel sprouts. It didn't disappoint.

Yelp
Crystal was outstanding as well as the cordial and attentive Staff. The food was excellent!

Yelp
We were seated in a room off the main area of the restaurant with only 4 tables. While normally this would be nice, the ambiance of the entire restaurant was missing. It felt old and stuffy a bit. The waiter we had was lovely and super attentive. My husbands drinks were good as well and our steak tartare and the hot pepper calamari were great. However, the main reason you come to a steak house, the steak was off for both of us. I got the filet mignon with the onion and mushroom dish and asked for the steak medium rare. When it got to the table it was rare (which you can see in the photo) and unfortunately had to send it back to have them cook it more, which I never do ever! They did cook it more but definitely missed cooking a small end piece that I had taken a bit out of already. When they recooked it, it was clear they just threw it in a pan as it had the pan crispies on it. The steak was good and tender but for the price not up to par. My husband got the porcini bone in ribeye and it was very disappointing for him. While cooked medium rare and correctly, the steak itself was tough and lacked in the fattiness. I had a bite and it seemed lacking in flavor too I tasted no balsamic and my husband didn't either. It was generally not a good cut of meat and he was so disappointed in it especially for the price. We also got mushrooms and the steamed spinach as sides. Both were average. The steamed spinach was odd. It said it came with garlic confit but it legit just had 3 garlic cloves sprinkled throughout. Unfortunately this was a bummer experience especially for the price. We had a hefty gift card and still wound up spending quite a bit outside of that. For the prices and the quality of the meat we got this place is a no go for us moving forward. Maybe we'll go to eat apps at the bar but I think that will be the extent. There are better steak houses in the area to go to.

Yelp
Capital Grill is our special occasion place which I love everything. The food is always delicious and the service is wonderful.

Yelp
The service, food, and drinks were great. Mashed potatoes were perfect. Love the lobster Mac and cheese and the southwest lobster. Fried calamari with peppers was also great. Loved the salmon. The mango royal drink was a bit too strong for me and I didn't taste any mango flavor in it. I loved the passion fruit drink tho, that's was perfect. This place reminds me of Mastro's Steakhouse.

Cindy R.

Yelp
Everything was reheated for our lunch Truffle fries were disgusting and lukewarm ...the calamari was mediocre, chewy and barely warm Steak was decent but overall eat at Roots in Ridgewood Service was awful We had two people stop by when we got there and then waited 15 minutes to place a drink order

Yelp
The food here was really great!! The service was top notch, and the ambiance was very nice and intimate. I came here for a birthday party and was quite impressed. Give this hidden gem a chance.

Yelp
Celebrated my sisters birthday here and staff was very friendly. We got seated immediately since we made a reservation. I love how they added a special touch for my sisters birthday by sprinkling happy birthday glitter/confetti on the table and they had a birthday card on the table waiting for her. There was slight hiccups with our order but the staff quickly resolved it for us. We ordered fries to come out with our appetizers but they forgot about it even after our entrees came out. They immediately went to the kitchen when we brought this to their attention. Also for my meal, i ordered the chicken and mushroom risotto. I asked for more mushrooms and less chicken but my order ended up missing the risotto. I told our server and he immediately brought out a side of risotto for me. Ambiance is an A+ because I love how the restaurant is lightly dimmed for a romantic and more private dining experience. Food however was not as high of a rating. The sea bass and the chicken dish were both very bland. I added salt and pepper to my chicken and mushroom, but it didn't do the trick. The Parmesan truffle fries were also not flavorful enough. It definitely needed more Parmesan and salt. The onion soup was also a bit disappointing. It tasted like it had a bit too much vinegar. It overpowered the taste of caramelized onion. However, I do have to say that the calamari was very good! It was the most flavorful out of everything we ordered. Loved the pickled peppers tossed in! Highly recommend! I also ordered the passion fruit mojito and it was superb! Very delicious! I asked to make it extra sweet and they added just the right amount of sweetness!

Yelp
I had a great experience at The Capital Grille in Paramus were. The Generous Pour Summer Wine Event is taking place right now which is an amazing deal! The servers were attentive and came by often to refill our wine glasses. Highly recommend you go during this event. Everything was DELICIOUS. We ordered crab cakes, shrimp cocktail, sea bass, porcini rubbed prime rib, Au gratin potatoes, creamed spinach, coconut cream pie, and the cheesecake. There isn't a single complaint on the food. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
We had a private room for a late lunch. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was hot and delicious.

Yelp
The food here is solid. The ambiance is fine. Not too bright, not too dark either- but not necessarily romantic if that's what you're looking for. I was here with a large group and the ambiance was perfect for that. Good solid service. Our waitress was Liz who did a very good job of being thorough, attentive and professional. All of the dishes were very good and tasty. This isn't a crazy menu of different unique dishes, but what's on there are the American usual suspects that deliver. For sides we ordered sautéed mushrooms and Brussels sprouts which for my taste were too overcooked, but everyone else seemed to enjoy them. We were celebrating a few things and they were also very accommodating with special celebrating desserts. That was very nice. Yes I would go back.

Yelp
2/11/23 Flawless Evening! Came here for Pre-Valentine's Day Dinner! A large bar is to the left upon entering. Upper middle class clientele at the bar. The entire restaurant is all is dark rustic wood. Our wonderful server for the evening was Erin. Water and a variety of delicious breads came to the table. We could've made a meal just from the yummy breads! -Cocktails: The drink menu was presented on an IPad. We started out with a Dirty Goose and Capital Cosmopolitan!!!! Oh so good!!! -Entrees: FIlet Mignons, a side of Out of this world delicious South African Lobster Tail and Mashed Potatoes. The food was prepared exacted the way we requested it. We had a '19 Unity Cabernet Sauvignon that really complimented the meal. -Dessert: We shared a delectable Creme Brûlée with berries. During the meal, lovely and upbeat Italian music was playing. Place isn't cheap. Minimum $100 per person. Service was outstanding. You're never rushed. Valet parking is a must on a weekend. Parking lot was Packed!!! The restaurant is the in the Westfield Garden State Plaza Mall.

Yelp
Had a fabulous lunch meeting here and I could tell from my fellow diner's past experiences they had made a raving fan out of her with all the little touches they have showed her over the last few visits. Like personally hand written cards thanking her for her patronage and hosting an event there. For a birthday dinner they set up her table with a hand written card and confetti and helped her feel like a special guest which were all stories she shared with me over lunch. The food was great and we had a very attentive and friendly young lady as our waitress Alix. A past waiter who wrote my fellow diner a card was there and came by to say hi to her his name was Pablo and he was very nice and welcoming. The manager also came over and was very gracious. I had the chicken and Parmesan risotto with a field green salad and Creme brûlée for lunch. It was tasty and will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Ambiance is like old school steakhouse. It's not really my style per se but it's fine. The service was good. Food was also good. I had the lobster bisque soup special which had lots of large lobster chunks in it. For entree I had the salmon. It was good but I wish it would come with a starch of some sort. Bread for table was good with the salted butter. I ate more than 1 otherwise I prob would have left hungry with the portion size. I don't feel Like there are too many menu options. I would have only picked out like 3 different things. Overall it's a nice upscale place. I'd suggest visiting at lunch if you want to save a few bucks.

Yelp
If a chain restaurant gets a good rating from me, it has to offer superior cuisine, a certain amount of atmosphere, and above all, service that treats every patron differently - because we are all different, and have different needs. Capital Grille hits all of these, some better than others, but enough to provide a pleasant and memorable dining experience. I came here for a graduation dinner where our party ranged in age from 5 to the mid-60s. Now, Capital Grille is not a kid's restaurant, and I wouldn't recommend bringing the youngsters here, but due to circumstances beyond our control we had them with us. The staff was quite accommodating of us and managed to configure enough of the selections so the little ones could enjoy a tasty and nutritious meal without getting bored with their food and with no incentive to voice boredom or displeasure with their meals. For us adults, the menu was what we expect at a Capital Grille - which is to say, very high quality meals cooked as we would like and presented tastefully. I usually go for steak here but went instead for lamb chops on this occasion. It's possible to overprepare lamb so that it loses its flavor in a sea of sauces an flavorings, but the chefs here kept all of the ancillary ingredients in just enough of the right proportions that I could really taste the meat without having my taste buds distracted. Nice work! I didn't drink, so no comments on the the alcohol portion of the meal. Service was exceptional, and perhaps even more so that it had to be, for one of our party required some special accessibility, both inside and outside the restaurant. We needn't have worried about that, because the staff figured how to get her in and out of the place with absolutely no disruption or difficulty for her or for other patrons. I've given 4 stars on the basis of this visit, and I might easily go to 5 if my next visit matches my experience this time.

Yelp
I placed my reservation through OpenTable which was fast and easy. When arriving to Capital Grille they will ask for your reservation or phone number to pull up your profile at the hostess desk. Hospitality definitely goes a long way here. First and foremost there is a Valet in front of the restaurant for those dining only. The mall can be highly congested and someone will smash into your car for a parking so valet is such a convenience ....... Capital Grille has an authentic steakhouse feel with rustic dark rich incandescent lighting. We came on a Saturday for lunch Steve was our server he was very nice. My mango margarita was the smoothest most delicious drink I've ever had. The best quality liquor which was tasted in the drink. I really enjoyed your fresh oysters on a half shell, that Mignonette sauce was delectable. My partner had the New England clam chowder, I had the Caesar salad which were both really good. We shared the 14 oz Ribeye perfectly cooked with Mashed potatoes ( Keep in mind it was a dirty mash with lumps and skin which I do not care for but they were tasty. For dessert we had the Cheesecake which was best cheesecake I've ever had. The sauce and the berries truly complement the dish. I will most definitely be back..

Yelp
Amazing experience and highly recommended. We had a larger group of 10 and made advanced reservations for lunch. We were lucky enough to have a private room for our party with dedicated waitstaff. The entire experience was flawless. They took great care of us and sped things up when we had a team member who was in a hurry to get to another appointment. The food was delicious and everyone was happy. If you're looking for a classy meal this is the place to go.

Yelp
Service was quick and efficient. PS Busperson: Don't remove plates until diners are finished Wife had trout. Someone teach the kitchen not to be heavy handed on the salt. That seems to be a trend in Latin kitchens. It's fine on chicken and steak, not on delicate seafood. Halibut was good portion 2 x 5 inches and 1 inch thick. Crab and Shrimp stuffed mushroom was very good. Don't bother with the Jetsetter. Drink Bourbon straight. The mix was too tart

Yelp
This review is a culmination of many visits, going back to literally the month this location opened. For me personally, 3 stars does not mean "A-Ok", it means "Good but not great." I have had 4-5 star nights here and I have also had some 1-2 star nights. I have had great servers and then sometimes, others servers that are substandard, especially at these prices. The steaks are very good, however they cannot hold a candle to the quality of other local steakhouses like RP Prime or Allendale Steakhouse - not even close. In fact - Segovia Steakhouse is better. The pricing at Capital Grill is comparable to a NYC steakhouse. I had the bone in Filet Mignon this past Saturday and it was $85. I have no problem paying NYC prices, but Peter Lugar or Sparks the Capital Grill is not! Appetizers are very good and the sides are as well. Lobster Mac n Cheese is a favorite. Tuna and Steak Tartare great as well. My biggest complaint at this location is their oftentimes inability to serve me my steak at the requested "doneness" or internal temperature. I order my all of my steaks "Cool red center RARE" and often get what is closer to Medium rare or Medium at best, so back they go. This happens way too frequently here. I mean, it happens A LOT. The great servers here, I make a point of getting their business cards and I should be requesting them when making reservations, but I don't. In fact, I should not have to - servers at a high end establishment like this should be highly trained and professional. The guy we had this past Saturday night was slow and uncoordinated and made the cardinal sin of disappearing shortly before our entrees arrived, never checking in with us until all plates were cleaned. Glad we didn't need anything! The lag between the arrival of our appetizers and entrees was way too long and I noticed the table next to us, who arrived way after we did, got all their food before us. So there you have it. I may get vetoed by the family and come back here sometime, but I will start lobbying hard to go somewhere else, as I find myself leaving here too often feeling let down.

Yelp
High priced national chain. I've been to many of them across the country and the upside is they are consistent. Downside is that for $65 my filet should be perfect but many ounces around the edges are typically overdone. According to the waiter "it's not possible to be medium rare all the way through." My Weber and $17 Trader Joe's filet would disagree.

Yelp
Excelente place to have a dinner or for just drinks, this is my 4th time here and always a pleasure. The food is good and the service is great. We are always welcomed and greeted and our service always close for questions or service. The place is very private and the lights dimmed to comfort. The ambiance is upscale and profesional.

Yelp
I'll keep it short and simple. At the prices this place is charging the food should be held to a higher standard. The calamari is over salted to a point you need to keep your water close by. The T-bone steak cost over $126 and wasn't worth half of that. It came out warm and the cut slices were too thick to where it was just so chewy. On top of that the steak wasn't seasoned! The coke is more sweet than any candy I ever had. Again, with these kinds of prices why wouldn't you offer people REAL Coca Cola? This place didn't impress me at all. I will never be going back.

Yelp
I'll start by saying that I've eaten here before three or four times and it has always been pleasant up until tonight. Tonight's special was the lobster bisque and I was eager to try it as a lobster bisque is one of my favorite foods. I also had a lobster tail for dinner and my husband had the Wagyu steak. Before I could even finish my lobster tail, I was starting to feel severe abdominal pain to the point that I was sweating. I quickly ran to the bathroom and thought I was going to faint on the floor. I proceeded to text my husband to quickly pay and get the car so we can run home and possibly go to the hospital when I got home. I vomited three times. I also continued to have severe abdominal pain that literally felt like contractions. Certainly this has to be food poisoning and I believe it's from the lobster bisque. We proceeded to call the restaurant and notify them, and the manager on the phone laughed at my symptoms. Then proceeded to tell me that I did not get sick from their food that I must've been sick earlier. I informed the manager that I am a nurse in the emergency room and I know for a fact, I have food poisoning from their restaurant. It is safe to say I will never return to this establishment and I hope you don't either. Save yourself the stomachache

Yelp
Took my family here cause my brother is leaving for basic training. So I wanted him to have really good steak before he left. Service was amazing, our waitress was attentive and helpful. My mom had the pan seared sea bass, I had the dry aged koni steak, my brother ordered the fillet mignon, and my cousin had the lamb chops. For the table we got Parmesan truffle fries and the soy glazed Brussels. Ambiance had that feeling like you were at a fancy place like a mobster lol. For dessert we had the cheesecake and crème brûlée with coffee for everyone and yea for my mom. Will come back here again

Yelp
The restaurant is located right outside the Garden State Plaza. There is valet and self parking available. We went on a Friday and the place was crowded and the bar area was noisy. We had to wait about 30 min for a table past our reservation time. The staff was friendly and the service was good. The dining areas are separated, so the noise level in each dining area was not bad at all. We ordered the French Onion Soup, which was huge and very cheesy. I had their signature Porcini Rubbed Bone-In Ribeye with 15-Year Aged Balsamic, which was excellent! It was tender and very flavorful! My wife had the Pan-Seared Sea Bass with Miso Butter, which was too mild in flavor. For sides, we had the Lobster Mac and Cheese, the grilled asparagus, and the potatoes au-gratin. All sides were good but not great. The Au-Gratin was especially soupy. For deserts, we had the Chocolate Cake, which was disappointing, and the Creme Brulee, which was nice. Overall, we were happy with our visit and would return.

Yelp
Food was ok, for a $70 worth dish I expected more. We all order meat and none of us (6) were impressed at all. The service was great since the beginning to the end . The place is nice.

Yelp
Order: - French Onion Soup (5/5) - NY Strip (4/5) - French Fries (5/5) - Mashed Potatoes (5/5) - Cosmo (4/5) - Grapefruit Soda (4/5) Pros: - Well seasoned steak - Sides were very tasty - Interesting assortment of bread - Very kind service Cons: - Steaks were not cooked to the correct temperature. I asked for medium and my boyfriend medium rare but we got medium rare and rare, respectively. We ate most of the steak before we noticed so we didn't ask for it to be cooked more - Slow. It took a while between the soup and the steak to come out Overall: A pretty decent steak but a little disappointed that it wasn't cooked to the right temperature

Yelp
Upscale restaurants and pricey but was excellent! Our waiter was Chris. He was great! He made recommendations and was very attentive. We started off with oysters Rockefeller they were the best I ever had!! For dinner I had the Chillian Sea Bass. It's been a long time since I've had it and yes it was delicious! My husband had steak over a salad. It was tender and flavorful. We were too full to have dessert so we took the cheesecake to go and enjoyed it when we got home. Very light and fluffy.
