The Centurion Lounge

This lounge is small and cramped. I get the impression that they built it before lounges really took off. The food service area is small- they were having trouble fitting in everything they wanted to when I went through. The bartenders were friendly and efficient. The tables were crammed together and there weren’t many electrical outlets that I saw. It was nice to get out of the crowds of the airport, as would be any airport lounge.

Have been to several Centurion lounges recently and Philly is simply the best. The food is always fresh, a little different and GOOD - like restaurant-quality which cannot be said for some of the other large metro area lounges. Staff are friendly and clear tables fast. When there’s a long wait it’s actually worth it. Give this whole team a raise, especially the kitchen crew!!!

The service was nice and there’s nothing wrong here, but pretty basic both in terms of drinks and food. Also the internet kept dropping out. So basic food/service and no internet really isn’t a good sell. Compared to Chase lounges Amex (this one and many others) are way, way behind the curve. Really closer to one star when I make that comparison.

2nd time in a row while visiting PHL lounge where numerous people were placed on the waiting list and once entering the lounge, half the lounge has “reserved” signs. Maybe if there weren’t so many reserved seatings more people would be able to take advantage of the lounge prior to boarding! Food is great!

It Was a bit busy today but the atmosphere is always great. The staff is very nice and welcoming. Servers always with a warm smile.

Noah was truly amazing! He was so warm and professional. We were actually in another brands lounge and decided to switch over to the AMEX lounge because of Noah. The service was awesome and the food was great! It was super busy, but the staff worked hard to make us feel welcome.

The front desk people are the nicest ever, they even remembered my name and said goodbye on the way out. The food was fantastic, and it had a lot of gluten free and vegan options. Finally the bar had a crazy good non-alcoholic beer. It's a small lounge, though, do not hesitate to sit in the first spot you find.

We must have gone at a bad time. It was very overcrowded. Tensions were high. People had their stuff in inconvenient places so that Announcements were made to remind people to manage their belongings. They actually had a snitch and an enforcer with a clipboard going around to keep people in line. Ambiance? Terrible, not the least bit relaxing. My best memory is the nice bartender with the Buc-ee's cup.

What do you do when you have a long layover to Paris? You hit up the centurion lounge and chill. We sat in 3 different spots from tables, to smaller tables to the lounge chairs. All were comfy. The drink menu was seasonal and the bourbon drink with cider is a must try. We ate the token chicken and rice dish and had a nice salad. Service was good. The cleaning crew was all over it. Sometimes a little quick as I finished my meal and the plate was removed as I finished chewing. Sometimes this lounge gets filled fast so reserve if possible 10 mins before you get there.

There is a new waitlist system to enter the lounge and it is truly the worst. My husband and I were standing in line to check in with the gentleman in front of the lounge and there was a couple in front of us who was chatting with him for assistance. After their conversation ended, our code for the waitlist expired by just 1 minute and we were told we would have to join the waitlist again and we had to wait another 30 minutes. It's a shame because we were being polite but not interrupting their conversation and we were in line but the code expired. This new system is terrible. AMEX has got to find a better way to do this. Unfortunately the lounge is extremely small so it does reach capacity quickly but AMEX should take note and expand the lounge. There is often 40+ people waiting just downstairs alone. I used to look forward to coming to the airport so I could go to this lounge but now it adds a layer of stress and chaos to my airport experience. The food is always delicious though. I have yet to go another AMEX lounge that has better food than this one.

The service is horrible at the lounge. The associates that work the door act as if it is an exclusive nightclub. Very rude and dismissive. My wife and I followed the instructions and got on the waiting list. Waited 25 minutes and then finally got the opportunity to go to the lounge. Once I went to check in, I was told that I was not able to enter because I was there 3h30m prior to departure and that I had to be within a 3 hr window. She said if we were on a connecting flight, it would be a different story. Well the rest of the story is that I've been at the Philadelphia airport for 24 hours because American Airlines always fails to deliver. I spend a significant amount of money with Amex every year and really understand rules, but 30 minutes???

This review is on behalf of my hubby who was on a call with me the entire time he was there with our beloved support dog Lulu. Lounge food was terrible, even the sugar cookies are sub-par. Not a lot of choices for food. Staff kept on asking our dog to be moved a couple of inches on the floor as if she was a nuisance. Good thing one of the patrons indicated Lulu made them happier than the sub-par staff demeanor and food. The ambiance is a 3, not a lot of accouterments that makes this place as comfortable and well-appointed as it should be.

Food and service are great, however the "chair police" embarrassed me in front of strangers for having my feet crossed on one of the few chairs available that is 2 1/2 feet deep when I am not even 5'3" tall. Comfort/body types vs aesthetics should probably be considered when furnishing a lounge.

Good lounge overall. Has all the things you want from a Centurion lounge. Great at the door service (they knew I went to the LGA lounge on my profile when they swiped my card and asked me how that was lol). Lots of Amex decor throughout. Food was good too. Lots of options. I have a nut allergy so when I told a staff member the head chef came out to explain what I should eat or stay away from which I thought was a great gesture. Decent breakfast food overall and a nice break before a flight back home.

A decent lounge at PHL, minimum options nearby so it's nice that they have this here. The lounge is very small and food is always mediocre, service is great and the drinks are on point. There is always a long wait if you come at peak times so be careful with planning ahead. They have limited food options with underwhelming flavor , I am just glad they have something here for Amex credit card users. There is a small conference room too if things get noisy and you need a quiet spot

This lounge is now my favorite in the network. While also being the smallest by size overall. The lounge manager Mary welcomed me in and checked me in very quickly and explained the lounge. Be aware the lounge is not that big and its very likely depending on when you go that you have to wait. If you don't like to wait there are other lounges to use. The lounge was very clean and I noticed plates being picked up very fast and cups being cleared. The food area was also kept very clean. Tables promptly cleaned as soon as someone got up to leave. The food as usual was pretty good and hot. They kept replenishing it quick whenever it was empty, I watched from my table. I especially liked the rice and chicken, both of which had a Lebanese slant to it. As usual free drinks, just walk to the bar and ask. I was able to fill up my water bottle and get a soda. So with everything that I've said so far, you can tell Mary the manager runs the lounge well, her team were friendly, efficient, and quick. If all the other lounges in the network were run like this, overall would be so much better. So, despite being the smallest lounge I like this one the best. I'm getting close to the 75k annual spend so I can take guests with me. Anyways recommended!

Came at 7:00 pm. The waiting time to eneter is 40 minutes. Useless AME platinum membership. Zero star.

It is a busy lounge. Staff needs to communicate better and kindly to guests. We saw a lot of angry guests because of wait times. We were told thirty minutes and waited over an hour - setting more realistic expectations will help. Check in station is the first impression, and they looked stressed. A couple of the ladies were not happy and sounded irritated. The wait upstairs was poorly managed. It got very crowded and was confusing when you got off the elevator. Guests explained to one another who was waiting and who needed to get in the checkin line. Suggest having an employee downstairs start a line as it was very crowded upstairs with no seats while waiting to enter. I did appreciate how they had an employee take you to seats when it was your turn. It may not be your first choice, but it is a very busy and crowded lounge. I also appreciated the announcements of not putting feet on the furniture - gross!! Food was also decent. The stations were small, but look fresh and appetizing.

This longe gets very busy. They first put you on a list / they text you the initial tex) they give you an estimated time. However, whatever they say // add on 20/30 minutes. The food is ok, not the best centurion for the food aspect. They have no amenities or local flair found in other locations. The vast majority of the limited available seating is either in a walkway or a cafe table top Bar is well stocked. They have a water dispenser next to the waiting area -- but you need to ask for glasses??? It's the smallest centurion longe. Employees need better communication between each other. One employee literally stood holding a iPad the entire time I was in the lounge doing absolutely nothing.

Long waitlist when we arrived on a Tuesday night during our layover at PHL. Didn't appreciate the rude and impatient front desk employees. When we finally received the text that it was our turn, it was maybe 50 minutes later, which gave us maybe 30-40 minutes in the lounge before we had to make the long trek back to our gate. The food was ok, nothing to rave about, just some grilled chicken and potatoes. Since we were short on time, I didn't appreciate that the bartender was slow despite no one in line. Not really recommended, especially if you're not flying out of a nearby gate. They seem to fill up quickly, so it's possible you'll walk over only to find a waitlist. They just don't have enough seating compared to other Centurion Lounges.

Today was awesome. Food was fresh and the place was empty so there was plenty of seating and no wait. That's not always the case. The food has been great every time I've been here. Next to gate A14

It's a nice lounge if and I mean if you can get in. Staff is friendly and accommodating but over the last 6 trips to Philly airport only once was I able to get in because of "overcrowding" and that was after a 45 min wait. Food and bev offering is better than the admirals club (think fresh cookies, locally inspired buffet and nice cocktails), but Amex really needs to expand the facility to sort a better way to grant access -- who is getting to the airport hours before their flight?

These lounges have gone downhill in the past few years. I wasted a 20 minute walk to Terminal A to be #21 on a waiting list. We were texted 45 minutes later telling us space was available. Of course you get in and can't get seats together or near an outlet. This isn't a perk anymore for the $700 annual fee

Questioned intensely about my service dog who is not emotional support, but a certified psychiatrist service dog. My partner and I were asked to leave although their policy states that service dogs are accepted and not needed in a kennel. The employee who called themselves "Kiki" and her name tag "Kristen" was rude and disrespectful. She had no right to ask us to leave per ADA policy. We felt personally attacked and unwelcome (likely as the only gay couple in the lounge as well). We were discriminated against for our disability and need for a service animal and for being gay. I'm so upset after I was very excited to use my lounge access for the first time. What a disappointment.

Loved this lounge! Got here early on a weekday found it pretty packed, maybe explained by business travel. Stepping in it was very calm along the corridor, but then you see the crowd. The ambience was pretty standard centurion lounge, great drinks and snack at the bar with prompt employees helping everyone out. Even though it was packed seating was not a problem surprisingly. The food options were amazing. They had amazing variety both vegetarian and non vegetarian and it was all fresh and delicious. They had yogurt and juices to pick you up after a long red eye and before a connection! Excited to stop by again and enjoy this lounge.

It's a small lounge and it closes at 9:00 pm, but there are some benefits to it as well, compared other centurion lounge this location barely has a wait time every time I go. Also, PHL domestic and International shares the same terminal so it means that you can still use the lounge even if you are flying domestic. The food was decent but the chocolate chip cookies were so good I had 4 which was more than I should have. Bathroom cleanliness needs an improvement though.

Been a platinum card holder for years. Travel for work and pleasure all over. Just last week I was in 3 other lounges why traveling for a week. Unfortunately my recent experiences at some Centurion lounges have made it difficult justifying my membership. In Atalanta there was a staff member that stated, Fox News must be kept on even if it's hard to see cause it's the real news. Then today in Philly, I had a short window of time to stop in the lounge and grab some food and use the restroom. However an employee named Mike would not let me enter, stated he needed the seat number and when I purchased my ticket I did not select a specific seat. He acknowledged a few things in our conversation, first I was an active Platinum card holder and as also on an additional business account. I was also in transit having flown in from another city, and finally I had the full price ticket receipt in email format with my full name, the flight number and date and time all matching my ticket. However the seat was not assigned. Lastly he agreed with me and acknowledged that the lounge was very slow, and knew I only had 30 mins tops. But despite it all, he was unable able to use discretion and understanding to get me into the lounge. The next things he said then became more offensive, saying "I can let you have some water" and that there's are other places for food in the airport as if I was completely unaware of what is in any airport or as if it was my first time flying. He proceeded to explain that I could go have my ticket printed, but I needed to go to the gate to do so, the lounge is in terminal A and my gate was terminal F, is was far. He also acknowledged that mostly likely there would not be an agent at the gate yet either. This was very unfortunate. I was completely understanding about needing to show I had a flight and felt that by showing him my full paid ticket he would understand. Felt like I was meeting him halfway and he was finding reason to not let me in, but why? It was extremely obvious I had a ticket. Even the guests behind me seemed confused at one point why I was getting so much resistance. There is such a thing as unconscious bias, and this felt like that. I hate debating in front of other guests and was obviously getting no where with him cause his mind was made up. You have $700 a year to have a place to quickly stop over on long journeys. This experience felt very unjustified on his part. I still am shocked even thinking about it, why? What was it about me? I was not rude, I never raised me voice. I was polite and respectful and acknowledged him and what he needed but still he said no to me. It just did not add up. Having called Amex right away, I learned after this that you should always have for a manager. The representative on the phone said Mike absolutely could have used his discretion to allow me in and found it unreasonable why he would not. So my take again, call Amex while in front of a difficult greeter or ask to speak with a manager. Or get a Venture C card which I also have, they are starting to open tons of new lounges across the US. Best of luck to all the guests!

The food is great here, comes from the chef at Zahav. Sometimes the lounge fills up and you have to wait to get in but it usually isn't too bad. Service is excellent, very attentive. And while the cookies always look a little burnt, they are always delicious. Similar flavor to Tates.

It's my lucky day. As I am traveling home through KPHL, Philadelphia International Airport, I stopped off at the Amex Centurion Lounge. Though it's the smallest lounge in the network, they're "big on food." And they did not disappoint. The special offering today from Executive Chef Josh Williams is Seared A5 Wagyu Ribeye with white and black truffle and foie gras butter. The pairing is SlyFox Christmas Ale. The bar offers a unique list of cocktails such as their B&B&B. Enjoy!

first of all we had to put our name on the waiting list then wait liter 55 minutes! then go to the queue again and having a manager by the name of Rachel being super rude and condescending to my wife and I because we had our luggage in the corridor without holding the luggage. She was absolutely rude, condescending and angry everyone the worst service I ever experience in the centurion lounge in the last 20 years.

Enjoyed my stop at the Centurion Lounge. The lounge was clean and well maintained. Staff were incredibly friendly. I was there around breakfast time and enjoyed the quiche, green juice, and vegan breakfast meat. There were also pastries, eggs, fruit, yogurt and more. The lounge is unfortunately located in the international terminal. There is a shuttle that leaves every 10-15 minutes. I would give yourself 30 minutes to be safe to get to your terminal.

Amazing food & clean environment! Best place to be in PHL, hands down. Downside is that it can get pretty busy and you might have to go on a waitlist to enter, depending on what time you arrive.

Easy check-in process. Located in terminal A West. Was traveling on a Saturday afternoon, was not too busy by any means. Enough seating for the people in the lounge. Do wish the lounge was bigger, but it was sufficient for not feeling overcrowded. Restrooms were not very big, with only one sink for hand washing. Food (by Mike Solomonov) was quite good and filling. Fresh selections/salad bar available. Desserts were ok. There wasn't a cocktail menu that I could find displayed, that I could find anyway) at the bar, which was interesting, never seen this is other Centurion lounges before. Good experience nonetheless and would return.

Son has food poisoning from chicken served at lounge last night. Son only ate the chicken so we know it must have been the chicken. He is violently ill.

Worthless. Absolutely worthless. Turned away on a "waiting list" on 3 of last 4 attempts to enter the lounge. This is not useful or helpful for a premium airport lounge, especially one associated with a high dollar annual fee. In order to avoid the frustration we no longer even attempt to use this lounge at the PHL airport and instead go straight away to the American Airlines AAdvantage Lounge(s), available to AAdvantage Executive Platinum credit card holders and any AA passenger with business class international travel. This card is available with a considerably less annual fee and also offers much better rewards than AmEx.

I have been a 60 year Amex member and a platinum member for 30 years. You can no longer access the Centurion Lounge at PHL. My last three trips they have instituted a waiting area at bottom of stairs and they take your cell phone and call you 30 minutes later when there is space. Not worth $695 per year that's for sure. Can't wait for the new Chase Sapphire Lounge to open!

Amex centurion lounges are my go to lounge whenever I can find one. They make you feel like a vip and their food and drink offerings are second to none. The check in process here was seamless and the food was amazing. Good offerings at this location!

Terrible service on behalf of Phillipe and staff. I have never been treated more unprofessionally at a Centurion Lounge before. Ambiance was loud and hectic. Food was mediocre and left much to be desired. Hoping this changes in the near future. My fave Lounge is definitely the one in Miami. This one doesn't cut it.

The Amex Centurion Lounge for Philadelphia offers one of the better food options, but definitely one of their smaller lounges that can make things a little cozy. One of the best perks of the American Express Platinum Card is the access to the Centurion Lounges. In general, I have been impressed with the quality of the food and drinks provided. The Philadelphia location is no exception! With food from Michael Solomonov, the James Beard Award winning chef of Philadelphia's Zahav, the food here was probably the most enjoyable. On the menu when I went was a selection of salad items, green beans, and juicy chicken thighs. For dessert, there was a collection of cookies and passion fruit panna cotta which were great! However, because it is smaller, there was definitely issues with getting a comfortable spot especially if you are in a bigger party. Luckily getting in before the crowd, I was able to get a good spot, but saw other people struggle later which was not super pleasant when you just want to relax. The service was overall pretty accommodating and tried to make sure everything was running smoothly. Overall, I would recommend a drop by at least for the food! But do not expect a seat....

I don't write reviews about airport lounges usually as they are a perk, however this may be the worst centurion lounge ever, might as well be a Priority Pass lounge. Lol. First, it's so small and layout is horrible. Good look finding a seat. Second, the staff is miserable. Not friendly at all. The manager runs around and yells at guests for the dumbest things. Third, the food is horrible. Holiday Inn quality. The place needs a complete overhaul. There are times you would rather just pay for some level of decency and this is one of those times

A quiet respite from the airport crowds. It's across from Gate A14. It was less than 15 minutes from terminal D, walking on the moving sidewalks. The food selection is ok. Good quality fresh fruit, not many baked goods. Also eggs, potatoes and turkey bacon. Vegan oatmeal with toppings.

Overall, the food was great as was the concierge and food service. Unfortunately, the bartender came across to me as a bit sexist (in a reverse way). She was judgmental about the fact that i ordered a second cocktail and she sent someone to go behind me to double check and make sure that I didn't have two drinks at the same time. But when my husband (who was sitting & dining with me did the exact same thing), went up for his second drink after finishing his first one it was no problem at all--all smiles, no questioning, and definitely no sending a spy.

Very cramped and overcrowded. The food was unappetizing with a poor selection. The bathrooms were, not very dirty, but not particularly clean. Definitely well below what one should expect in a Platinum lounge.

The three times I've tried to go to this lounge in the past 5 months, there has been at least a 30+ minute wait to get in and it's not worth it. The lounge is small, cramped, and not clean most of the time. This is by far the worst Centurion Lounge I've ever been in. That said, PHL isn't the best airport either.

Truly love going to the Centurion Lounge at Philly airport before my flight. The food and drinks are delicious! I get a mimosa and I am set for the time, and the food is also amazing! I've stayed for both breakfast and lunch. Service is quick and amazing as well. I will say, it has been getting fuller with lots more kids which takes from the experience a little bit, but not much. Definitely recommend.

A nice stop over before heading to the gate. However, lately a long wait. An expensive annual subscription to have to wait 45 minutes. Disheartening, particularly after AMEX raised rates and charges. Food always unique and above average. Service attentive. Other Centurion Lounges get a higher rating however. Needs a redo.....

First, PSA: THEY HAVE OAT MILK LATTE! And it's good! My personal highlight :D Beautiful lounge with some of the most inventive food I've had at any lounge anywhere in the world. They had these fantastic empanada-like pockets filled with wonderful seasonal vegetables and delicious (feta I think?) cheese. So good! They also had small shakshukas (Middle Eastern-style eggs with tomato sauce), regular scrambled eggs, cereals, pastries, etc. Good space and not crowded for our early morning flight. Loved it.

The manager, who called herself, "Kiki" but her name tag says Kristen, was very rude to my partner and I. She walked up to my partner very intensely and asked what task her service dog performed. My partner told her she is a psychiatric service dog who provides comfort and interrupting panic attacks. Kiki responded by saying that this was an emotional support dog and needs to be in a carrier. So my partner explained that the dog is a psychiatric service dog and doesn't need a carrier. Kiki was reading from the ADA website that she could ask what task the dog performed. Which, my partner did, in fact, tell her. But what the website also says is that you can't ask a service dog to leave unless it is being disruptive or not "house trained." The dog was literally laying down and didn't make a noise. She was very rude and she told us to leave. Which did not seem like it was about the dog. And ultimately that she didn't like us or the answer that she received.

This lounge is pretty small with less seating space. However, the food was great and I'm happy we were able to relax a bit before our flight!

Overall evens out to a 3 star. Smaller compared to other lounges including other Cenutrion lounges. 5 stars for some of the employees. Traveling during COVID is always a stressor but I felt much better seeing one employee - there's one older Asian (Korean?) lady who is on top of it! It's not a very big lounge so it's like she notices everything. She was cleaning things thoroughly right away as people moved around and left. And she would indicate to another employee when classes or plates were ready to be taken. She also must have noticed I was traveling alone so when I would get up to get a drink it seemed like she would hang around my spot and keep an eye on my things while I was gone which I definitely appreciated. Once I picked a spot and sat another employee moved the seating closed sign so it was directly next to me, adjusting the space and distancing as people were sitting. The bartender (a younger longer haired brunette guy) I had on the other hand was more of a 1 or 2 star. I'll admit I dress casually when I travel so in a Centurion lounge it could be a deterrent but he was pretty short and abrupt, not friendly. And the drink was pretty bare bones, poured into the glass, not stirred, one olive dropped in. I asked for a bar straw (they only had larger plastic straws) to stir it myself but they didn't have any so i ended up using a knife later. Other Cenutrion lounges (even during COVID) I've been too have had an olive and some citrus on a toothpick and sometimes a celery stalk or spiced rim. Overall a fine space if you can seating to relax a but and grab a bite before your flight.

Food is great. Service is friendly but expect to wait on busy times. AMEX needs to expand.

The smallest lounge I've been to and no hot food when they opened at 530am. They don't start breakfast until 630am. Kinda lame considering anybody flying for business is heading Westbound and trying to catch an early AM flight...

My most frequent thought about Centurion Lounges is "they're so busy, no one goes there anymore." This one is no exception. But first, the good things: food options are much better than the usual PHL fare and better than most Centurion Lounges. I particularly liked the beef tenderloin and the pea quinoa salad, and I don't usually like quinoa! Bartenders and the other service staff are pleasant and I appreciate that the buffet is regularly restocked. (The Centurion in PHX is always out of food.) And now, the not so good: the check in process was frustrating. There was a lot of confusion at the front desk about policies. I observed some lack of courtesy with another family that caused me to pause. And the manager appears to have a permanent scowl on his face. All in all, it's okay and beats the alternative, but I expect more customer service.

They serve warm and cold breakfast (warm breakfast starts after 5am). The food was good. The staff (bussers, if i got that term right) were very attentive, so quick to clear the table and they are friendly too. The place is clean in general. Great experience overall.

This review is based strictly on my first (and very bad) experience I had here. I've been to virtually every other CL across the world, and never been treated so shabbily. Okay, for one thing: it closes at 5pm. Okay, I get it, it's COVID, but somehow most of the other clubs are open much later (CLT, I'm looking at you!!). But I knew that going in. What they *don't* tell you, even if you walk in at say, 4:25PM, is that the bar closes at 4:30 sharp. Not a sign, not the people who check you in, not even the damn bartender you tipped $5 for your first drink. Really, really annoying, when you're looking at a 3 hour layover and were counting on some libation. Get it together. And shoutout to my bartender: if you have another job, don't quit it. Or by all means, finish that degree. I don't see much of a future for you in the bartending game.

I like this lounge but the wait to get in is difficult if you have a tight schedule. I guess it's the usual at all airports now with lounges so should not expect this one to be different even if it's strictly for Platinum cardholders. It's a long bowling alley lounge so it's tight. The seating is plentiful but outlet plugs can be hit or miss for some seats. If not busy, not an issue. The bar is stacked with options and the non alcoholic drinks are plentiful for tea, coffee, flavored waters, etc. They do have a shower if needed and a changing station for baby in bathroom. The hallway is littered with people waiting if they have a que to get in despite staff telling people to please wait downstairs. I feel bad for the staff as some people are downright rude and question the process. We got in about 30 minutes after showing our lounge access code. The sense of entitlement for some of these travelers is just beyond me. Show some grace and all will be well.

One of the major reasons for holding a platinum card is the access to the lounges while traveling. The majority are busy including the one at Philadelphia International. The food is comparable to the majority of the lounges I have visited. The front desk staff was very friendly. As for the bartender, I realize that she's had a long day but you don't have to be noticeably racist and rude. So different from the busier lounge at LGA that we visited earlier in the day. What a shame.
