How Jon Favreau and Roy Choi Brought the ‘Chef’ Truck to Life - Eater Vegas

"Jon Favreau and Roy Choi opened the Chef Truck, offering many dishes from the movie 'Chef' including a vegetable-packed Cubano, grilled cheese, medianoche sandwich, croquettes, spicy watermelon, and chocolate lava cake. The truck is parked just off Park MGM’s casino floor and features unique art pieces designed by Favreau." - Janna Karel

Disappointment is an absolute understatement. Look, Chef is one of my all-time favorite films and Cuabnos are one of my all-time favorite sandwiches. I know not everything in Vegas is going to be great, but considering the names behind this restaurant and the idea for it, it's such a shame of what the place is actually like. Maybe they were better at the beginning or even just before I visited because it seems that they made some major changes just before I stopped by. Just a few days before visiting, I checked the hours which showed they were open everyday for lunch and as early as 9am on weekends. Well I stopped by at 10am Sunday and they were closed, only to find out they changed hours to dinner only wed-sun and closed mon/tues. When I asked the cashier he said they recently laid off half the staff and changed the menu, adding "you know how these companies are". And with his tone, it seems like the Chef Truck is taking a deep dive for rock bottom. The food didn't help either. Starting off with the taquitos. How are these taquitos? The cashier mentioned it was huge but it's just a regular flower tortilla rolled up. It wasn't even fried. The whole thing was still soft and cold. The chicken was bland and there was nothing special about it even though the cashier added that it always sells out first. Now the grilled cheese. It was good, it was cheesy, and the bread was toasted nicely. Granted the menu reads exactly what you get, but with that, you still expect more because of where you get it from. It's nothing you can't make at home. And finally, the cubano. The sandwich for which made Chef Carl Casper who he is in the film. This, this isn't it. While sitting and waiting for the restaurant to open, we saw two workers wheel a cart full of pre-made sandwiches from the hotel's kitchen. Granted there's nothing in the sandwich that would make it soggy or "ruin" the sandwich, but it just feels lazy and unnecessary. They don't even use Cuban bread. The menu just says "pressed buttered roll". Ok then. Something I did not pay attention to at first is the salsa verde. What? Since when does a Cubano have salsa verde? That isn't a Cuban sandwich anymore. The meat was dry and bland, there was barely any ham, and the one slice of cheese was just put on one side of the sandwich. It was a poorly made and poorly tasting Cubano. Such a shame. I absolutely love Roy Choi and Jon Favreau, and it's almost heartbreaking to have this experience.

Google
They recently re-did their menu but we just went for the classic cubano. The sandwich was good with lots of meat, cheese, pickles and mustard but it was quite salty and needed a decent amount of extra mustard to cut the greasy-ness of the meat. Overall, pretty good to grab downstairs and eat in our room there was also a super interesting chef truck tardis on display outside which we had fun looking at while we waited for our food

Visited a few weeks ago. We split the Chubby Chicken as a snacker, and it was good. My complaint is that the night we arrived, they had a menu posted on the wall and on a board out front with al pastor tacos, but they weren't open to serve em up. Then they weren't open the next day. By the time they opened later Wed night, the menu changed, and the tacos were gone off of it. If you know you are completely changing your menu, pull it down! Also, their open hours throughout our time at Park MGM seemed inconsistent.

Sad this place has bad reviews. I got the Chubby Bean Taquitos. They are shorter and fatter than normal taquitos and I was happy to know that because I was hungry! They were SO SO good. It came with 2 filled with yummy gooey cheese and refried beans topped with all the good stuff. The cotija cheese made it! It doesn’t taste like a TexMex type but, has some kind of unique rich flavor. I was beyond happy and beyond full and at that price in Vegas I couldn’t complain!! I probably could have stopped at one but it was so good. As I was eating I was reading on the place and had no clue about Chef the movie but, saw the bad reviews and had to add here. At that point I had eaten almost everything but I took a photo anyways 😂 happy eating. Highly recommended

Google
Food truck come to life inspired by the movie, “ Chef” starring Jon Favreau. Even if you’re not a movie fanatic, this pop up shop inside park MGM is quick eats for those hungry starting inside Park MGM / Nomad. Definitely try the Tostanes / plantains.

Google
I was looking to grab something simple and quick for lunch and found this food truck in the middle of Park MGM. I only tried the burrito but I didn't like it at all. It was pretty bad in my opinion. Nice attention when ordering, but food was definitely not good. It has a small area to seat and have your food there. Clean and quick, but I would recommend looking for any other options.

Google
We first craved for Cubano’s sandwich when we saw The Chef movie. Its looks really good and you may want to try it too. So we finally tried it, so maybe I am expecting a little bit more but I found it too pricey for a sandwich though its huge and can take for 2 person. The plantain chips is also so-so. Overall not a bad one.

Google
Located just put side the casino area in the Park MGM. Had the veggie Cuban sandwich and it was great. Only complaint was that my eggplant was not cooked properly and every bite I had to grab the piece to make sure it did not fall out the sandwich. But, the flavors were there.

Yelp
No clue why yelp has The Chef Truck lower than a 4 star because it was great. My only thought might be people expecting the cubano to be a classic one with meat. It's not and the menu clearly states it's vegetarian. But like the server even confirmed with me it was veggie before paying. Cubano though was GREAT! Like all the flavours of a regular one but vegetarian. Great texture, hot and fresh. BIG BEIGNET was my star though fluffy hot and fresh. Whipped cream was a slay. No notes. Also servers and vibes were good. They DMd me on Instagram after tagging them just to make sure I had a good experience. Also Roy and the restaurants account reposted. Slay.

Yelp
Stopped here for a quick breakfast and was not impressed. I tried to order a Bacon/Egg/Cheese without the bacon, which they said "no modifications". I was surprised they couldn't exclude an ingredient (was not asking for substitutions). Anyway, ordered the breakfast burrito with tofu and it was meh, and I couldn't find any eggs in it. Ate a bit and tossed the rest-not worth the $20. Skip this spot and find something else.
google avatar

Luis G.

Yelp
Had the Cubano & Medianoche sandwich. Tried to get modifications on it but they said it wasn't allowed. Came out relatively fast, smoking hot. Theres enough seating and it's right in the heart of the Park MGM Casino. Was it out of this world? No Would I return? Absolutely I'd put it right on par if something you might eat at an Earl of Sandwich fast casual spot.

Yelp
By far the worst grilled cheese Ive ever had! The grill was definitely not hot enough. The bread was soggy and oily. The texture was all wrong. Greasy in the worst way. Cheese was lack lustre. Needed more flavour. Carl Casper would never have made or served this meal. The tostones had similar issues very greasy but not crispy. Needs to be cooked at higher heat. Were these from frozen?! Hella dry and no salt added. Bland and bad; I know plantains, I was raised on them. Please don't call these things tostones. I literally couldn't finish either and i was hungry AF. Jon Favreau I love your movie, but I hated this food truck.

Yelp
I was super happy to see Austin midnight added to the menu and so sad when I actually got it because it's not what they had during PBR in October 2024. The molten chocolate cake was surprisingly delicious and light not to sweet as you might expect for chocolate. The staff here is always amazing and friendly. There was plenty of open seats this time and we went Friday 6:30pm normally the crowd is wild.
google avatar

Mar C.

Yelp
Honestly liked the food here better than the Eataly food court. The items are pretty affordable for a food place on the strip and they were quick too. While the sandwiches aren't exactly what you see from the movie, I thought they were tasty. We tried a few things and each one were flavorful and filling.
google avatar

Yelp
What would Chef Casper do? I ordered their Chef Truck Cubano, and it was disappointing. It came with tofu, eggplant, portobello mushroom, cheese, pickles, salsa verde, and mustard in a butter roll. The salsa verde, mustard, and pickles were the only flavors in the sandwich, and they weren't enough to save it. The tofu, eggplant, and mushroom added texture without taste. Their mozzarella cheese croquettes were also underwhelming. They came with a green sauce that may have been their salsa verde. The flavor was flat. My Fiancé had their Pork Medianoche, and that was OK, too. It was missing something, though, and we can't figure out what. The service was excellent, which made giving this review more challenging. There was plenty of seating. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy our meal. We love the movie but will pass on the truck.

Yelp
* Vegan review * TLDR: you can get a tofu burrito here, but it's bland. You'll need salt and a boatload of salsa verde on the side. Really friendly, helpful service, and I asked a million questions to see if I could even order here. The food was meh but would have been good if it were salted and I had endless salsa verde to drown it in. I got the breakfast burrito with tofu, which after all my questions was determined to be vegan. Side note: the menu mentions potato, and they no longer put potatoes in the burrito; apparently the potatoes and cheese were combined, so no cheese, no potatoes. So a breakfast burrito without egg & sub tofu is vegan. It has rice, fried tofu, a couple pieces of plantain, a tiny bit of salsa, pickled onions, radish, and lettuce. The burrito had more tofu than expected, so the Protien to rice ratio was nice. What wasn't nice was extremely bland tofu- just plain friend tofu, not even salted. I mistakenly assumed that since they do cater to vegetarians and had a mojo tofu sun option on the menu, that mojo tofu meant it had some kind of seasoning. I did ask for extra salsa on the side, but the tiny container fell and didn't get me past the first few bites. Salsa in the burrito was barely perceptible and didn't help the flavor much. I appreciated that I was even able to get a tofu burrito here after days in the casino eating protien deficient catered food, but my conclusion is that even for the vegetarian items, this place must really lean on dairy for flavor. If you go here, ask for excessive amounts of salsa verde on the side, and grab some salt while you're at it.

Yelp
Seeing the truck was really cool, loved the reference to The Chef. Only item we ordered were the nachos and they were plain since one of the people in our party had an allergy to the marinade that's used for all the meats. They weren't bad, but they weren't amazing, and for the price it was too expensive to ever get again. The cashier was friendly and our food came out quickly, but wouldn't recommend ordering from here. If anything, it makes for great pictures but not satisfying food wise.

Yelp
This is a concept restaurant - looks like a food truck inside the hotel. Very convenient if you are staying at Park MGM or just passing through. The menu has a very Cuban influence. I got the breakfast burrito that had plantains and rice and pork. I got a side of the spicy watermelon which was a huge serving. I feel like the food options are reasonably priced (especially for Vegas)!

Yelp
A food truck in a casino?! Never thought I'd see that! Great idea! There was table seating, air conditioning and all the comforts of a restaurant without it being a formal restaurant. Casual dining indoors. Love the concept - gourmet food but not fancy. This collaboration between Hollywood Director Jon Favreau and Roy Choi was so cool to see in real life!! I've been a fan of Korean Chef Roy Choi and have chased his food trucks (Kogi) before in CA, so to find another one in Vegas was a real treat. This Korean-Mexican fusion menu was so creative by design. Showcased all the Hallmark favorites of any great food trucks - ingredient packed cubanos, signature grilled cheese from the movie, simple yet flavorful rice bowls, small bites and croquettes as well as specialty beverages (I grabbed a watermelon aqua fresca). I had ordered the signature Cubano - The Chef Truck Cubano. Surprisingly vegetarian - which the classic Cubano is normally meat heavy. This Cubano packed a large portobello mushroom, eggplant and grilled tofu with mustard and pickles. It was bursting with flavor and you didn't miss the meat. The tangy salsa Verde was the perfect compliment to the Cubano if you wanted to add more flavor or to dip your chips (fried plantains). Which I totally did. The ham and cheese croquettes were delicious and a filling appetizer with 5 pieces in an order. My kiddo didn't want to share it. (Thankfully she gave me a taste...so good)! And the arroz con pollo was the special rice bowl of the day this visit. Mexican rice, pickled red onions, and really flavorful chicken. Accompanied with that awesome salsa verde on the side. Everything was delicious - such a satisfying meal from a food truck. And now that it's a permanent installation in the Park MGM Casino, you can try it anytime. Opens until late and they even serve breakfast. This is a must see in Vegas. Great food that's not fancy!

Yelp
Love the concept of a food truck snack in the middle of the Park MGM but sadly, the food was mediocre. At an $18 price point, one would expect the Pork Medianoche Sandwich to deliver but it was underwhelming. The bread was just okay - being a carb fanatic and an avid fan of artisan bread, I would think the Cuban bread would be more soft but it just lacked lard. Not sure if they substituted it with French or Italian bread, which didn't seem to be the case, it wasn't great. The pork was dry and it lacked any flavor. As soon as I took a bite, it had a dry taste of pork and that was it. Savory was missing. I wouldn't advise going out of your way to eat here. Rather, watch the movie and get food elsewhere. Luckily I was staying at the hotel and just so happened to try this place. Service was very fast but for the lunch rush, there was no rush so food was made quickly.

Yelp
Stopped by and ordered a breakfast burrito on the way to the pool. The burrito was bigger than I expected and stuffed with yummy goodness. I was only able to eat half. They can get pretty busy, everything is made to order but the wait wasn't long. I'm definitely stopping by on my next trip to Vegas. Much better than the coffee place across the way if you want food. I noticed shots on the menu for $7 - about 1/3 of what they cost at the pool. I made to circle back for a round.

Yelp
Quick spot for a Cubano sandwich and a little different than other options while staying at Park MGM. I was surprised to see this from the movie Chef when walking around. This new food option which I believe is started earlier this year (2024). Ordered: * PORK MEDIANOCHE SANDWICH $17 Roasted mojo pork, ham, cheese pickles, mustard, torta bun Food came out pretty quick and tasted good! A little expensive, but it's Vegas. I was also honored to see Chef Roy Choi and got to say hi and chat it up a little bit.

Yelp
Across from Starbucks on hallway. Near pool entrance and on way to Dolby theater from transport drop off. Friendly quick service, little loud in the surrounding area so little tough to hear. Got mojo chicken and Turkey sandwich Mojo pork rice bowl, mojo pork taco And guava patelito. The chicken Turkey sandwich was the winner of the bunch. The guava pastry was nice. Pork tacos a little coarse, not much refined taste. Sorry didn't get many photos as dang hungry after a show. Would definitely stop back again!

Yelp
We stayed at Park on a recent trip to Vegas and heard there was a new food spot right off the casino floor near the elevators. The chef truck serves up Cuban street food out of a food truck right inside. There is plenty of seating around the corner from where you order but it is pretty basic, think food court style seating. We opted to try the Cuban and an order of fried plaintains. Both were delicious! The Cuban was full of meat and cooked to a perfect melt on the inside and crisp on the outside. The plantains were freshly fried to a perfect crisp and came with a delicious sauce. I only wish there was more sauce, it was that good! The prices were reasonable for a casino stop and serving sizes were generous. Splitting the sand which and chips was the perfect amount for two. They also serve breakfast options that must be good as there was always a line when we walked by. Be sure to check out the miniature truck in front which is an amazing piece of optical illusion art. Overall this is a great add to Park!

Yelp
The Chef Truck exceeded our expectations. I loved the movie on Netflix, so when we passed the food truck at Park MGM we wanted to try it! We weren't sure if it would be a novelty or would be better than expected. We enjoyed this sandwich amongst 4 people and it hit the spot! It's not the best Cuban sandwich, but I can't complain for a quick bite in Vegas.

Yelp
My husband and I came to Park MGM to visit Best Friend and along the walk saw The Chef Truck. We are a huge fan of the movie and the show and so we had to stop and check it out. We decided after we ate dinner we would at least come by for dessert. They have a QR code system that you can scan and order and pay online without having to wait in line. The only downside to this was while other people who ordered at the truck got a pager, we had no clue when our order was going to be ready because they didn't call out names or numbers. So I ended up asking for a pager at the cashier. There is a whole little corner of seating and awnings for the area and it was a vibe. The green and white reminded me of Cafe du Monde in New Orleans. We waited a few minutes and then were paged. We intended on taking it home since we were full, but I also had no idea what it looked like, so we took pictures. before driving home. It was a good thing we did because we were surprised. We thought ordering two orders of beignets would mean having 6-8 mini beignets. Instead, we got two giant, oversized beignets, covered with powdered sugar and with a side of a light mascarpone cheese icing/cream. We also ordered two chocolate croissants which were of typical size and drizzled with white and milk chocolate. They made the drive home (about 20 min) and by then we actually just decided it needed to be eaten while it was still fresh. Dipping the beignet into the cream was amazing. We dusted off both beignets with no problem. It was the closest we had had reminiscent to NOLA since being in Vegas. The chocolate croissants were standard and not necessarily anything particularly noteworthy. We would like to come back again and try the sandwiches and croquettes.
google avatar

Rudy D.

Yelp
First time here. One of my favorite movies. Had to try the sandwich and it didn't disappoint! Also got the ham & cheese croquettes. Amazing! Service was friendly and they do a military discount. Would come back!
google avatar

Jessie P.

Yelp
Stopped in for a midnight snack after walking the Strip. Had the best Beignet of my whole life. Also, the staff was very nice and serve was quick. Will be back for the grilled cheese before we leave.
google avatar

Yelp
Our room wasn't ready yet so we were starving and ate here with our $50 meal voucher since we needed something quick. Basically food is okay but subpar for the price. The pork wasn't too fatty which I appreciated but some pieces were too dry. The plantains were a welcome addition but I could've used a few more of them. The rice is an odd choice as it seemed to be some sort of cheesy rice rather than traditional Cuban/Latin style rice. Interesting concept and okay if you're hungry and have looking for something quick (especially with a voucher) but if you're spending your own money, there are better places (including Eatily in the same hotel) to spend $50 for two entrees and two bottles of water.
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
Didn't get to take a snap of my nachos but they were so good!! Loved the connection to the movie and that this food was brought to life for all of us to enjoy! Price was good and service was exceptional. Viva Las Vegas

Michael H.

Yelp
Made the mistake of ordering a Cubano.... Let's just say, if you ask for the Cubano, you get a vegan option of their signature Cubano sandwich from the Movie. I am not an expert on Vegan food so after one bite it found its way to the trash. Nothing close to a Cubano. I will be back to get their other Cubano which isn't called a Cubano. If you are vegan! Swing by this place and feel normal and order a Cubano and get exactly what you can eat! I am sure it is a hit with vegans. I'm just not quite Vegan yet. Sorry. Just felt it was worth mentioning because.
google avatar

Adam B.

Yelp
This place feels middle of the road, but because all the hype from the movie it's less than that. Doesn't live up to its sells pitch. Went for the Cubano of course, and it wasn't bad, but it's just not a 10. Still good, and not a bad price for "Vegas Prices".
google avatar

James H.

Yelp
If you've seen the Chef show on Netflix then you know about The Chef Truck. Parked inside of the Park MGM Hotel with seating a few steps away. The food was good. The Chef Truck Burrito was overall tasty goodness. The chimichurri was a great addition. The rice was kind of undercooked. But the flavors were there even for the tofu. The Chef truck cubano was another hit. I don't like portobello mushrooms but the flavors on it were great. It is true that they don't have a grill since it would be a serious fire hazard. They have the food heated in the fancy microwaves but still enjoyed the food. Typical food truck style, order/pay at window and pickup food when buzzer goes off.
google avatar

Joe Y.

Yelp
Just arriving from airport, we wanted a quick bite to eat. This is located right outside the elevator bank to go up to rooms in Park MGM so very convenient! We had the Medianoche sandwich and plantain chips and split it. The sandwich was very good but near the ends, lacked filling. Overall it was plenty of food for a quick snack. The plantain chips came with a delicious sauce but really needed a second container of the sauce. Be careful, the Cuban sandwich on the menu appears to be a vegan twist...definitely not a traditional Cuban so read carefully!! Take a look at the mini food truck display! It is trippy!
google avatar

Yelp
Review is for their dessert of Cheesecake Flan only and I kid you not when I say GET IT! =P We were full off eating at Best Friend, but came to see what the Chef Truck has to offer and hubby ordered the Cheesecake Flan for dessert. Located inside the Park MGM, it's a cute set-up with small figurines that look like the Netflix "Chef Show" and the truck just like the movie Chef! The flan was dense but not too sweet, and the cheese was an interesting thing on the side topped with either raw sugar/turbinado sugar/brown sugar and it paired SO WELL with the flan, my lord. I'm drooling just thinking about it! A friend got the pork cubano and said it was good. Parking at ParkMGM is typically $18 flat rate daily. The truck is a little ways inside past the casino area.

Yelp
Food trucks are everywhere nowadays. But in the middle of a hotel?? Only in Vegas. We arrived to Park MGM the night before and were taking some time walking around, acquainting ourselves with the various hotel venues. We were "kinda" hungry and had early dinner reservations because of a show we were seeing that evening so we didn't want a big meal. We stopped and looked at the menu of The Chef Truck and plantain nachos struck me as something neat to try. It was an off time and there was only one person in line ahead of us. We ordered the nachos and added pork. After ordering, we received our food in only a few minutes. There are napkins on the tables - good thing - the nachos were messy. Capital M messy. The plantains were cut lengthwise - it wasn't like scooping the toppings with chips - they really didn't scoop well at all - we used mostly our fingers and a fork to push the toppings on the chips. It worked but I'm glad we had plenty of napkins. The nachos came with cheese sauce - not quite, but almost like the sauce you get at the ballpark, pickled onions - delish but cut a little too big for nachos, sour cream and guac (even though the menu didn't mention guac). We went wrong by ordering the pork. I expected shredded pork but instead it was cut into approximately 1" cubes. The pork had to be eaten with a fork - it just didn't work at all as a topping for nachos. When we got the bowl we thought it was the perfect size for a snack. Turns out, looks are deceiving. We barely finished and were hardly hungry come dinner. I sure would have liked to see how they got the truck into the building. Did they drive it through the lobby? I can't even imagine.

Yelp
DELICIOUS CUBANO!! Tasted as good as the movie made it look! Next time, I'm getting THE grilled cheese and a beignet!
google avatar

Yelp
What a cool concept having a food truck inside a hotel! The line wasn't long when we went for a quick brunch after the pool. Food was good, nothing extraordinary though.
google avatar

Yelp
3.5/5 Ordered the mojo pork rice bowl ($16) to go; was given a buzzer and it was ready within a few minutes. The menu describes it as: Roasted mojo pork, Fried plantains, Salsa Verde, Pickled red onions, radishes and cilantro. The pork was moist, a bit fatty and flavorful, rice was fluffy and cooked well and the salsa verde was a perfect compliment to the dish. Unfortunately, it was missing the plantains, which I was looking forward to tasting...

Yelp
The Chef movies is such a classic and it's dope to see Chef Roy and Jon Favreau bring it to life at Park MGM. First off Chef Roy's Best Friend is one of my wife and I favorites restaurant on all of the Vegas Strip. Now that we finally got to try the chef truck we were very excited and happy after. We walked by earlier in the morning and it was breakfast only so we came back by 12PM for the lunch and the sandwiches! Service was quick, the lines that day were building fast. We ordered a couple things. The MEDIANOCHE sandwich, beignets, spicy watermelon and plantain chips sides. It's cool to see a food truck parked in the hotel and all the decor and merch correlated to the movie and show. As for the food and The MEDIANOCHE sandwich was pretty bomb! Delicious juicy sandwich. The sides were good especially the watermelon. Side note the Cubano is vegetarian only. The best part of the experience though was meeting the legend Chef Roy himself at the restaurant. He's very cool and nice person and had to make sure we told him we enjoyed the food! Thanks Chef Truck! Hope to be back soon!
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
Massive fan of Chef Roy Choi and the movie/show chef and also went to the premiere parties for the chef movie when they served the cubanos from the movie. I've dreamed for awhile to get my hands on another one of those sandwiches and finally got to Vegas to enjoy a cubano. It's an absolute must to enjoy while visiting Vegas at the Park at MGM! Perfectly crispy bread with the right blend of meat and gooey cheese with the mustard and pickle. It was exactly like how I remembered it! Had to try out the guava cheese pastry that was super delicious to top off the meal. A great blend of cheese and guava wrapped in a nice flaky dough. Amazing! The park MGM in my opinion has the best food of all the Vegas hotels and this is another one of the best places to eat at this hotel for a cheaper bite at the hotel.

Yelp
This guy is as rude as can be! His attitude was THE WORST!! His reader for CC was showing zero, so my husband and another customer was trying to let him know that the total showed zero. However he told us we couldn't read. He insulted everyone that came to order. We cancelled our order due to him being rude. DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is so cute. A stationary food truck inside Park MGM. The prices are fairly reasonable as well. We got the cuban sandwich and beignets. The sandwich was so good! Fresh and warm and good size portions. It reminded me of Portos. Beignets are not like the New Orleans one at all. Soggy and not crispy. You can tell it's just bread with sugar on top. I want to try their chocolate cake though. Will return!

Yelp
Was super hyped about trying out The Chef Truck after seeing the movie when it came out, but wasn't what I was expecting it to be. The staff was very helpful with the menu and super kind. I went with the traditional Cuban which was called the medianoche, the sandwiches were premade and they just warmed them up for a minute or two. The sandwich was ok, again not what I was expecting. I also had a side of cheese croquettes, ham and cheese croquettes and plantain chips. My favorite of those three were the plantain chip that came with a sauce, same as the croquettes. The watermelon agua frescas was refreshing but wouldn't go out of my way to come back here.

Yelp
It was awesome to see the chef truck right there live in person. They also had some model dioramas that were mesmerizing to look at all the detail. I was ready to buy a hoodie but only to learn it was a full front zip up - pass. We got the medianoche and the grilled cheese. Both perfection!! The sour dough on the grilled cheese was incredible. The pickles in the medianoche was such a perfect accent. For some reason on the menu they highlight the chef truck Cubano, which is the vegetarian version of the medianoche. I heard a bunch of dudes who didn't read the description order it thinking it was the medianoche and being totally disappointed by all the veggies.

Yelp
I highly recommend the chocolate croissant, it is so good!!! The ham and cheese croquettes were just okay. The place is so cute with the concept of a food truck inside Park MGM. I would come back for the chocolate croissant.

Yelp
3.5 stars but rounding up for good service. Recently stayed at Park MGM and walked by The Chef Truck several times. We didn't have many opportunities to try the food since we had other eateries lined up prior so we opted for a late evening post dinner "snack." Decided on the Burrito ($15) and beignets ($5 for 4 squares). The burrito was filled with chunks of pork, lots of rice, potato, cheese, pickled red onions and salsa all within a flour tortilla. Rice to filling ratio was a bit off as there was an excess of rice. Wish the pork was evenly distributed as well - it was mostly scrunched up towards the two ends of the burrito and not so much in the middle. The beignet was decent - tad bit dense but overall still tasty. Prices are fair considering how pricey food is now on the strip. Worth a try if you're close by but not sure it's something I'd go out of my way for.

Yelp
Came for the Cubano sandwich was not disappointed. Everything was great Thiago fresco made anything. If you're looking for something cheap this isn't it but if you're looking for something very good, you fit the right spot.

Yelp
Located in Park Mgm. I passed this "truck" so many times, you can smell the sandwich so good!! Gotta try this. We ordered pork medianoche sandwich and plantain chips. So yummy. The plantain chip comes with their fresh salsa verde. You should put thar salsa verde on top of the sandwich, amazing! They opened at 11am. They have seating area, so you don't have to stand while eating. The guys were very nice. Food comes out pretty fast. Enjoy!!

Yelp
Came here a second time, this time we tried the mojo pork bowl and the burrito. The mojo pork bowl was good, But the burrito was not good at all, too much rice and not enough meat. Please do not order the burrito, you'll thank me. I met chef Roy when I was there, I wish I would have told him the burrito suck. Next time I'll stick with the medianoche.

Yelp
The Chef Truck hangs out inside of Park MGM which felt like a great moment for a light snack, but I wasn't excited about the food. The ham and cheese croquettes clearly came frozen and weren't cooked long enough as the inside was still cold. I suppose the warm section had some good flavor, but since most was cold, I didn't really have an enjoyable experience.

Yelp
Got the grilled cheese ... and I LOVE grilled cheese. But not here.lacked flavor. The good: hot gooey cheese. But boring bread....the grilled cheese was like something if make at home with some wonder bread & Kroger butter. For the price ... jusy lacking. Also looked at pics of other grilled cheese and they got some amazing focacia looking bread. We got some .99 cent white bread. :/

Yelp
First off, love the movie, so I had to try Chefs Truck as soon as I had a chance. There was no line, so the time perusing the menu, ordering, and receiving my food was less than 10 minutes. I was really hoping I wouldn't like it, and it was just a gimmick because it's pricey for a cubano. Pardon me, Medianoche. I asked if they could make a classic cubano on the butter pressed bread and was told no. Oh well. It was delicious just the way they make it. Fresh meat, melty cheese, those pickles and hint of mustard made it perfect. Also tried the guava cheese hand pie. Pro tip, break that baby in half and let it cool because even though I ate it after my sandwich, the filling burned the crap out of my mouth. Still delicious. I'll definitely be coming back to try more things.

Yelp
Food 'Chef' is one of my absolutely favorite movies of all time, so when I heard about the chef truck, I wanted to go try the food immediately. I got to try the Chef Truck Cubano, Media Noche, the Croquttes, and beignets. Starting off with the cubano, I didn't read the menu ahead of time because I just wanted a cubano, I was unaware it was a 'new take' and that it had no meat, so as I was eating I was just enjoying the sandwich for the good flavor, then after a few bites i realized there was no meat. I was a bit disappointed I couldn't get a normal cubano but this was still pretty good, flavorful, and juicy. The media noche for me was much better and hit the right spots. The croquettes were super good, crunch exterior, soft and flavorful interior. The beignets were a bit disappointing. Beignets are usually light, and airy and these were more like heavy dense donuts. Service/Ambiance You just order off of a counter in a truck so we got the food in a good amount of time and the place was filled with all the motifs from the movie which I loved. There is a good amount of seating for those expecting to dine in so that's good

Yelp
I love the concept of the Chef Truck but feel like my current lunch was a bit of a disappointment. The set-up is really cool. The Chef truck is recreated in the actual casino floor really close to the guest elevators along with a nice little section to eat the food right next door. There are models of the truck as well nearby. I tried the mojo pork bowl and the watermelon agua fresca. Service was friendly; food came out fairly quickly; and condiments/cutlery were all nearby and easy to get to. The mojo pork bowl wasn't bad but think it was missing more staying power and vibrancy. The pork itself was a bit dry. And the best thing on the plate was the pickled onions. The sauce itself was a bit bland. I could have added an egg but not sure that would have helped here. I would have preferred options to spice up the bowl more or add in more flavor. I also don't think there were any fried plantains in my bowl. A comparable rice bowl at the price point is bang bang at the Cosmo which is much more flavorful with the meat marinated really well. The watermelon agua fresca is $9 which I would understand if it was a bit more than just what the name says. But it really is just watermelon agua fresca. Even with inflated Vegas pricing, I was so disappointed. Why not add some special ingredients to it or allow to spike the drink for a bit more? That to me would make more sense. Overall - I wanted to come away from this much more happy as I love the Chef movie and always enjoyed Roy Choi's food. But think at the moment, it's not a winner just yet.

Yelp
How cool was this to see the chef truck! Love the movie, love Roy Choi and the food was good. You cannot substitute anything tho. And the beers off their cart are extra expensive! Go to the store instead! But overall the staff and food were great. Lots of seating by too! If I could have subbed mustard for mayo we would have tried the Cubanos.. I know, we suck and don't understand but our pref... otherwise good food guys!

Yelp
I would give 10 stars if I could Roy Choi has created an identical delicious cultured experience in Las Vegas for food and his staff just knows how to make us feel special. I went to get a chef truck bandanna and these lovely gentlemen gave me a free pastelito for my birthday And just made me feel like a special little boy.. lol. Flavor, ambience, you name it. They have it. Get some Gordon while you are here, but stay for a medianoche or grindz from Best Friend. Los Vegas, homie.
