The Chef's Counter at Four is a fantastic restaurant! They offer a unique dining experience that combines delicious food, great drinks, and a fun atmosphere. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and they do a great job of making you feel welcome and comfortable. The tasting menu is a great way to experience the full range of what the Chef's Counter at Four has to offer. Each course is carefully crafted and beautifully presented, with flavors that are always interesting and unexpected. The wine pairings are also excellent, enhancing the overall dining experience. With enough notice, they can accommodate kosher and vegan options, ensuring that everyone can enjoy this remarkable dining experience. Overall, I highly recommend the Chef's Counter at Four to anyone looking for a unique and delicious dining experience. The food is amazing, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is fun and lively. It's definitely a must-visit spot in Long Island.

The food was exceptional. The flavors were well balanced and everything was delicious. We had the wine pairing and they offered a selection of both classic and unique wines. The atmosphere was also pleasing. My only qualm would be my interaction with the chefs. When I go to these types of restaurants, the chefs are usually more interactive or there's at least one chef that matches what you want socially. I felt dismissed there. I asked about a beautiful presentation and was told not to worry about it because it wasn't supposed to be eaten and that it was dirt. It wasn't dirt. If I didn't want to interact with chefs, I'd save my time and money by eating at a conventional restaurant. Nevertheless, I didn't take off stars because I may be in the minority with my interaction preferences and Jared, our host and sommelier, was excellent. He could read the room that I wanted to interact, he answered my questions, and he match my enthusiasm for the experience. We'll likely return, but I'll manage my expectations when it comes to interacting with the chefs.

A wonderful birthday dinner and so special to sit at Four! This restaurant is an intimate experience into the eyes of the kitchen where they work as a team creating some of the best food! The tasting we had was 17 courses all one bite and left feeling satisfied. Whether you are at 2 Spring or Four Spring you are getting top tier service and flavors. Every dish is curated with attention and detail along with hours of prep from a caring team of individuals.

I would HIGHLY recommend Four Chefs for your wedding (or anything else!) Andy, Marla, and their team were on time and professional. The communicated well throughout the whole wedding process. And the food…omg, I have never received so many compliments! The food exceeded our expectations - so delicious and fresh! Thanks again, Four Chefs!! You are all so amazing!

We had an incredible dinner at Four, to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We were both blown away by the creative menu. The complexity of each course was amazing! The staff was engaging and super attentive! We loved everything about the experience. My wife loved the plates & glasses, they were beautiful and showcased each course. Everything was well orchestrated. Expensive, but well worth the experience! Looking forward to another special occasion!

Google
Over all our experience was great! The staff and service were incredible! The food was outstanding! All this being said I have a few cons! They have 2 specials, caviar and truffles - they did not disclose how much this add on was to the already fixed price of $275 per person! For 2 people it was an additional $500 that we were not expecting! They were not transparent with this pricing and we had to bite the bullet because the meal was over. The wine by the glass was a little expensive as well. I don’t mind paying for a good experience but they were not transparent about these things. It was our fault for not asking though! All this being said it was great, the chefs were great with explaining the dishes and again the staff was very attentive and such but just be weary!

What a gem on Long Island! fantastic food - we went for my birthday and it was izakaya night . The service was spectacular and the food was to die for! Everything served was spectacular!! truly haven’t experienced anything like this on the island!

The kitchen setup wasn’t conducive to the experience of watching the chefs in action. Their backs were turned to us all the time while cooking. The sauce that was used in several dishes overpowered the flavor of the protein. It’s supposed to enhance the flavor, not mask it. Same for the berry sauce added to the foie gras. The quail dish tasted like chicken teriyaki. The porcelet dish tasted like Asian pork. The size of the king crab pieces were smaller than a dime. The add-ons: $250 pp for truffle, $150 pp for caviar. And they weren’t added on to all of the protein dishes. The wine is on the high side. Prices didn’t seem to be posted in the wine list.

Yelp
I'm a Borough Kid following good eats wherever they may be found. Four's Chef Counter wasn't on my list and I hadn't heard of it before this Spring. A friend of mine invited me to join in on a dinner months in advance as it was on her radar and she knew it would be a moderately tough resy, especially considering there were only ten (10) seats per seating. The planets aligned and we were able to get spot that accommodated our group! We did the tasting and there's no way I could do justice to each of the ~14 courses presented to us. I'll just take this space to say that we were all satisfied with the food (that was the first question from all of my friends when they saw the pics on my other social media platforms). The next thing I want to address is the spiciness of some of the dishes. Some reviewers felt that the spices overpowered some of the dishes, but our group felt they were bold and courageous moves. We didn't feel the spices overpowered any of the dishes, even the ones that had a "kick" (peppery taste). We actually told the chefs that we appreciated the fact that they didn't diminish the dishes by making them more bland. Beyond that, the staff was extremely (but not obtrusively) attentive. I felt like POTUS in there (not that I know anything about what it feels like to be POTUS). The host was very knowledgeable on their wine list (which was EXTENSIVE). I'd also like to give a shoutout to Chef Matt who had a subtle but great sense of humor. I asked him where they sourced their literal plates from. He told me that was "Classified G14" to which my crew died laughing because I'm usually the guy saying stuff like that but in an instance of sheer coincidence, I was getting a taste of my own medicine. The exchange was hilarious in the moment. The crew works well as a team. They engaged when they got a chance. Seeing the activity in the open kitchen was great. The food never lacked in flavor. It's expensive (especially when I added the Italian Truffle option and a few bottles of wine) but do yourself a favor and check it out, even if just for a special date night or celebration. You won't be disappointed (even if you're a secret agent)!

Yelp
I recently tried the tasting menu at the restaurant, and while the food was quite tasty, the overall experience didn't quite live up to the expectations. The decor was lovely, and it was nice to see the chefs at work, but aside from the bill at the end, there wasn't much that stood out. Having experienced tasting menus both in the U.S. and abroad, I found this one lacking. In other places, the chefs usually engage with guests, sharing stories about the dishes and where the ingredients come from. Here, the server simply named the dishes as they were brought out, and it was often hard to hear. There was little interaction with the chefs, which took away from the experience. While the food was good, the portions felt quite small for the price we paid. I understand that part of the value comes from the overall experience, but I didn't feel we received that here. If you're looking for a memorable tasting menu that offers good value, you might want to consider other options. That said, the food itself was enjoyable.

Yelp
So I struggle with the star rating on this one. The food- the tastes- were excellent but the experience leaves a whole lot to be desired. We had a party of 10 specifically so we could have the place to ourselves. This was a group of people that all knew each other, know food and appreciate good wine. The seating is not optimal for conversation. There is an L shaped seating table. A U shape would be MUCH more conducive to group seating. There is a way to overcome this however... the host/chef could have the attention of the group and facilitate the conversation. You are not given a menu at the beginning - they tell you you will receive one at the end. We did but by the end you forget some of the tasting notes you had on each dish. As each dish came out, there was little to no explanation. I was asking questions and the chefs were just not engaging. As a matter of fact, my group spoke afterwards about feeling as if the 2 chefs had had an argument before we entered because they appeared annoyed. With each other, with plating, with answering our questions... The host Jared was quite friendly and polite. He served the group well. Wine was requested and dispensed but again, not one explanation of where the wine came from, why it was chosen, etc. Interestingly we asked for a second bottle of a particular wine and he came back and said we'd been served the last of that bottle "but I brought you another Pinot". No reasoning as to why this was a worthy follow up or a similarly tasting wine. Nothing... With each course, we had to ask what it was. And if I asked what a particular garnish was or the preparation I was given a very evasive response. I've been to many Chef's Tasting Tables and this is obviously a comparison. While the bites were great, there was no Chef's table. The chef's barely spoke. The vessels for presentation were interesting although some were obviously chosen for the drama of the vessel not the function of the bite. Some of the standout dishes were: Dry aged beef; Wagyu; Hamachi and the Key Lime Mousse. I don't even like Key Lime Pie yet this bite was epic. Lastly, without the caviar add on, the pricing came to $490. pp including gratuity.

Yelp
We just had an amazing dinner at Four for a date night. Simply blown away by the level of creativity and flavors we feasted on. 2 hours of the tastiest bites, each one more craveable then the last. The A5 Wagyu was stunning, so were the seafood dishes. There's no point in dissecting it dish by dish, simply a must try once in a while for a wonderfully memorable splurge. Hubby also tried one of the hard to find Weller Bourbons and we both opted for the foie supplement and he did the added caviar on his dishes. Special occasion or rare date night. This is the place to keep on the short list. Wonderful staff and Fantastic Chefs.

Yelp
Oyster Bay isn't the place that comes to mind when I think "awesome innovative tasting menu" but life brings unexpected surprises. The wife read about this place and off we went. This place only has 10 seats so make sure you make that reservation early. We were treated to a huge course of innovative bites that spanned the range of world cuisines by the actual chef and his team. Some of my favorites were the spot prawn, the puffed beef tendon and the tart with yellowtail. What made this meal memorable was the coordination and presentation of each dish coupled with the excellent service. They made great recommendations on how to eat the dishes as well as wine recommendations for those interested. I will also say that their dessert offerings were by far the best I've had in a tasting menu - it was essentially 2 courses and everyone looked really satisfied at the end of the meal. The decor and service are impeccable. For the quality and quantity of food, I thought the price was pretty good. I'm told that they will change the menu around every 8-10 weeks so I'm looking forward to coming again to see what else the chef comes up with. A must if you love tasting menus.

Yelp
Expensive but delicious fine dining in a nice setting with good service. Being able to watch and interact with the chefs is nice.

Yelp
After going to 2 spring me and a friend on mine went here to experience the chefs table. At first I was really excited. The ambience pretty ..upon arrival I was asked if I wanted to add on wine pairing, and they also had an additional add on of caviar and truffle. My friend decided to do the winetasting, and we both wanted to add on the caviar and truffle however, we were not given the market price. Throughout the meal, we were very confused as to how many courses there were, and what would come out. The whole experience was very secretive. as the food came out, we didn't know what we were eating until it was right in front of us. Throughout the tasting, my friend, didn't eat at least three or four plates, because she doesn't eat certain items that were given. Maybe if we knew what things were beforehand, she would have told them so she could at least enjoy some food. I also noticed that the wine tasting was about a half an ounce each course. I'm not even sure which items had caviar and truffle, and how much we actually received, but it didn't seem like much. The tasting courses overall were great but nothing to write home about. at the end was severe sticker shock to seatings cost 275 each... the wine tasting was 185 and im not even sure she had a whole glass. ...the caviar was an additional 150 a person and the truffle was an additional 100 a person making the bill $1300 not including tip. We were both shocked by the sticker price.. we both left hungry and aggravated. I would have never thought that the truffle and caviar add on were separate charges but also costing more than the actual seating. I believe three or four dishes out of 12 tiny tastings had either caviar or truffle. I didn't wanna make a scene or get upset to ruin the evening, but I did call and speak to the manager the next day. He told me that they never tell anybody the price of anything because the clientele in that neighborhood get offended if you talk about price. I'm not sure what version of reality they live in. I just felt very tricked nothing was transparent everything was secretive and I will never be going here again or 2 spring as I felt it was very bad buisness .I hope someone reads this review and saves themselves close to $2000 for nothing. they are better chefs tasting like blue hill at Stone barn that are 20+ courses where you actually feel like you've eaten. This place needs to be exposed for their trickery. Save yourself, the money, not worth it at all.

Yelp
Wow! This was fancy My mom took me to the Wednesday Japanese menu. It was one of the best meals I ever had! The raw beef and the hamachi collar were my favorite. The food was almost to pretty to eat but tasted so good . I am really lucky to have eaten here

Yelp
What an incredible night. This intimate dining experience is worth every penny. The food was exceptional and the chefs were amazing. They were informative and conversational. The staff really anticipated our every move and made us overwhelmingly comfortable. It felt like you were eating in a professional chefs home. Excited to go back.

Yelp
Food and service were good. Complete ripoff. 4 ppl with wine paring 600 a person. Very small wine pours . Still thirsty and hungry. Way over priced.

Yelp
A wonderful birthday dinner and so special to sit at Four! This restaurant is an intimate experience into the eyes of the kitchen where they work as a team creating some of the best food! Yelp
Four was truly an amazing experience. Chef Jesse Schenker and his team have taken their knowledge and experience to a different level. There was a purpose for every detail in each dish to make the entire meal flow smoothly. It all just made sense. Tickets are reasonably priced for this upscale experience and we will be back in the near future!

Yelp
This place is amazing. I always recommend the wine pairing. And while you're at it, add the caviar, it pairs well with some of the richer dishes. The chefs are friendly and attentive. Save yourself a trip to the city and run to Oyster Bay!

Yelp
It is THE dining experience on Long Island. Small plate tasting menu. Literally an erotic fantasy for your tongue through each plate presented in front of you.

Yelp
We have been big fans of 2 Spring since it came on the scene years ago. Four raises the bar yet again! The first thing you notice is insane attention to detail. We came during the soft opening but everything was delivered with intention and unpretentiously. The setting is in a private room separate from 2 Spring by a beautiful glass roofed atrium. Super Comfortable counter seats are set around the multi-method cooking area. Every seat has a great view and offers plenty of interaction with Chef Schenker and his staff! We loved the Frette linens, Mark Thomas glasses and perfect lighting. Every detail has been thought of. The setting is unlike any on Long Island, and surpasses that in most fine dining rooms in NYC. You could tell this place was set up to go for Stars. Cheeky art is something 2 Spring has become known for and Four does not disappoint. Make sure you visit the restrooms, they too have been set one notch higher. Now to the meal. Let me start by saying you will not leave stuffed, you will leave perfectly satiated. We have done the epic Blue Hill @ Stone Barn (RIP) and some other tastings (EMP, Gramercy, etc.) I have to commend Four for providing an intimate, unrushed experience without belaboring the point, feel free to make a later reservation you won't be here till 1 am waiting for the 30th course... Each dish was one or two bites, the presentation is impeccable and the flavors exactly as intended. Everything seemed to flow well from amouse to final canapés. Chef was open to questions and conversation in between plating courses. One of the greatest things about dining at 2 Spring has been the ever changing menu with favorites that have staying power. Four will elevate that inventiveness even further. There is a reason people trek up to Oyster Bay to dine here, you are getting more than a meal you are getting a dining experience that is so incredibly hard to deliver these days. I can't wait to see what else Jesse and the team have up there sleeves to bring to Four. Make your reservations now, as I am certain this will become one the hottest tickets in NY dining, don't wait for Pete Wells to tell you what I already know, this is something special and not to be missed!

Carol W.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of participating in a pre opening tasting and was blown away by the food as well as the creativity and execution of every dish. Dinner was approximately 15 small plates, and every dish was elegantly plated on unique serveware . The experience is interactive with the chef and his staff, and is a 10 seat counter format. There is no need to travel to NYC..excellence and sophistication has come to Oyster Bay! This is a not to miss experience if you appreciate outstanding food in an intimate, next level environment. Reservations will be available on Tock 10-1 for November dining.

Yelp
Truly an amazing culinary experience!!! Everything from the food to the decor were so thoughtfully planned out. The chefs and wait staff were top notch.

Yelp
Two Words: World Class. Not good for Long Island. This is one of the best restaurants in the World. A beautiful meal in a beautiful room with spectacular service. Chef Jesse Schenker and his team provide a culinary tour de force.

John K.

Yelp
We attended one of the seatings and only two other people were there. That made us a touch nervous. Two of the three staff were mostly friendly and nice, even if service didn't run very smoothly. The food primarily featured powerful sauces, rendering the finer ingredients somewhat unnecessary. The menu focused on novel combinations, like a dish with lobster and chicken, which didn't quite work. I ultimately ended up taking just a small bite of every plate. The price ($275 per person) is somewhat high, especially for Long Island, but it felt even higher because of the mundanity of the food's taste. It's a common price for a NYC counter tasting menu without the quality and refinements of a NYC restaurant. The experience surprised me because I enjoyed the sister restaurant 2 Spring immensely--the quality of the dishes were markedly better. If you're thinking of trying Four, you might be better served next door at 2 Spring.

Rob K.

Yelp
Four was the FINEST culinary experience I have ever had the privilege of enjoying, believe me, I don't take that assertion lightly! My time at Chef Jesse Schenker's chef table, not only delighted my palate but managed to mesmerize all five senses. With each course surpassing the last in creativity, artistic appeal, and a sublime assault on my taste buds, I couldn't believe i was sitting in Oyster Bay. To comment on each and every course wouldn't make much sense because the menu varies from day to day depending on chefs' whimsical imagination. If I had to pick one favorite, which isn't easy, I would say the foie gras duck fat croissant was rich, decadent and incredibly delicate. I will say the entire staff provided exceptional service. Their sommelier, Sean, provided wonderful suggestions that paired perfectly with our tasting, we ended up drinking 3 bottles of wine and champagne. Without being overly dramatic, please don't walk, run to FOUR, I promise you'll thank me. It is truly an experience of a lifetime!
