A great coffee shop run by kind staff! They have such a wide selection of different chocolate brands that are smaller and more sustainable as well as a large selection of chocolate truffles. A great place to stop by.

I’ve been to right many chocolate shops and this one was just okay. They did have a decent selection. I always look to see if they have Icelandic chocolate bars and this place did. I took my time and selected a few items. I was surprised at my total but good chocolate is a little pricey. I enjoyed the curry coconut truffle and the lavender caramel chocolate. The other ones were kind of blah. The espresso bar was very tasty and the intense 95% dark with ginger was complex and truly unique. Loved it. Haven’t touched the pyramid yet but plan to next weekend. Staff member was friendly.

I love this little gem of a specialty chocolate shop. I visited just before Christmas and they had a full selection of truffles, holiday chocolate gifts, and an amazing array of bars. The staff really know their chocolates. They were helpful as always pointing out and describing options for 80%+ cocoa bars I was trying to find. And in selecting truffles for custom truffle boxes, including local chocolatiers! It is my go to place for special occasion gifts or treating myself to hard to find chocolates.

Small, cozy place loaded with an excellent selection of chocolate with mostly small batch, bean-to-bar producers. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Fantastic chocolate shop with a wide selection of craft chocolate. I went in looking for chocolate made locally in the DC area. The worker quickly pointed me to exactly what I wanted. My wife loved the selection of bars I purchased for her!

This place has changed so much. It’s amazing now full of beautiful local and global Beane to Barr Chocolates. Plus fresh local truffles I highly recommend it.

My boyfriend surprised me with beautifully decorated chocolates from here for my birthday, and they were so amazing that I was compelled to find them on Google to leave them a review!!! He ordered a random assortment and only instructed them to not put caramel in the box. The message was to say, "Happy Birthday, Ladybug" (his pet name for me). They followed his instructions exactly, and in the center of the assortment, was a truffle painted like a ladybug, called a Ladybug Praline!!! Not only that, but my bf is English and I noticed they added a truffle called "London Fog" which tasted like a very mild tea and was absolutely delicious!!!! I just loved that they took the time to be so thoughtful!!! 🥰 And the chocolate itself... I mean we did just come back from Iceland, and WOW!!! I thought I had been spoiled and would not like American chocolates again for a long time, but these chocolates, though they tasted differently, the quality was on par with the best chocolates I've ever had in my life!!! That's including many European chocolates!!! THIS is now my new go-to when I need to give a unique gift... or just want to indulge myself, because WOW!!! This place is amazing!!! LOVE IT!!!!

A fun activity for our group to do together, we booked a chocolate tasting at the Chocolate House. We were guided through the history of the cacoa plant, how it came to be chocolate, and how it is processed. Our group very much enjoyed the tasting and the interaction with the staff, we kept comparing our notes. It was a great experience and highly recommend for something different! We spent a little time after shopping the chocolate in the shop and walked away with some goodies!

Great place! Lots of variety (including some very safe standard choices and others that are interesting and adventurous), high-quality chocolates, and the staff really care about what they're doing. Can't recommend this place enough if you're buying chocolates for yourself or somebody else.

I mean, it's chocolate - what's not to love? While I checked this place out as part of an event, the actual shop is lovely - the pure variety of chocolate is absolutely amazing, to the point where I wanted to buy a little bit of everything. Really, where else are you going to check out stuff like durian chocolate and banana chocolate?

All i can say is wow. This was such fun. Learning the Hershey history and then understanding the process. Amazing for families and chocolate foodies. I did not buy any of the products because it was overwhelming. You can actually make your own reese cup with different fillings and other specialities. So much to do and see here. A couple of hours is required

I have been wanting to visit for a long time and when I heard the news story a couple weeks ago about the unfortunate break in and the plea to place orders to keep business as usual, I knew this had to be the right time and place for my Valentine orders!! They did not disappoint!!! The selections provided in my heart boxes were so picturesque and decadent. My friends and family loved every bite! I will definitely come in person soon to sample even more!

I may have found my new favorite gourmet chocolate shop in DC. I wanted to get my SO some quality chocolates for Valentines Day, which is how I stumbled across the Chocolate House. I ordered the Christopher Elbow Valentine's Day Collection chocolates through their website and selected a local pick-up. The staff is extremely friendly and had no problem with me picking up the item a day late. My SO and I really enjoyed the unique flavors and hope to try more of their original chocolate. Overall, they have a ton of great selection and I highly recommend this spot to all my chocolate lovers!

Very pleased with an online order. I'm not local but wanted to do something small for a friend in the area who was having a stressful week. I placed an online order for 15 truffles with a note that my friend prefers white and milk chocolates. She received a beautiful box, pictured, within the same week, even though it's close to the holidays.m, and said she really enjoyed them.

Have you ever met someone who looks much better in photos than in real life? That sums up my first impression of The Chocolate House. The first few photos on this Yelp page with their white background belie the actual space. The Chocolate House is a really small chocolate boutique that to me feels more gritty than fancy. As a chocolate enthusiast, I really thought the concept of carrying the best chocolates from all over the world to be the best idea ever. I was really excited to be able to purchase my favorite chocolates from Philly, KCMO, LA, etc in one place. But The Chocolate House fell short of my expectations. Yes, it carried many brands from all over, but there was no organization whatsoever. The store also didn't have as many selection as I had imagined based on information on its website. It was out of two chocolate brands I was looking for. On top of that, service was slower than a snail. There was only one staff when I went, and I swear he spent fifteen minutes just tying ribbons for two chocolate boxes. I appreciate the attention to details, but I was pressed on time and wished there were more staff or someone with a quicker hand was there instead. Since you're not buying directly from the chocolatiers, prices here are naturally more expensive. I personally would rather order directly from the chocolatiers next time, but if you're in the area and want to try something new, this may be a place for you.

***500th Review!*** This is by far one of the cutest boutiques I have been to in DC, with a wide variety of locally made products and free chocolate samples all around the store. They also have fantastic truffle making class; the 50% off Yelp coupon makes it really worthwhile. My friend and I signed up together and over the course of 1.5 hours ended up making twenty delicious spicy truffles. In between steps, we chatted with the super friendly employees about tasting chocolate, and browsed in the front of the store. In short, if you are ever in the Adams Morgan neighborhood, I would highly recommend checking this place out!

I went with some friends on a Sunday afternoon. Very cute, but small. If I didn't have my friend who went here before, show me where it was, I wouldn't have found it. Chocolate filled from top to bottom. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and nice. Very knowledgeable about all the chocolates that were there. This is a great place for a cute chocolate gift for that chocolate lover in your life.

What a lovely surprise. I didn't personally go to the store, so I can't really rate the service or ambiance. However, these pretty pieces of chocolates were delicious. I'm so grateful to have received some as a gift. They are well decorated and flavorful. Each piece was unique, light, smooth, creamy, and not too sweet. Definitely recommended.

Over brunch with this morning, I explained to my companions that we simply had to stop into Biagio after our meal. Apparently we were not the only ones with this idea on the eve of Valentine's Day - the store was packed. Still, this didn't stop staff members from spending quality time to help answer questions (mine, of course, revolved around the Recchiuti selection.) The woman who helped me even went in back to give me a catalog so I could be well-informed of the Valentine box's content. After some internal debate I decided to get an eight piece assorted box - peanut butter caramel, raspberry tea, fleur de sel caramel, yuzu, fleur de sel, salted butter caramel, earl grey, strawberry balsamic - from the case. A special touch that delighted me was discovering that each of my selections were handwritten on a legend so when I open it up I'll know exactly what I'm eating! My fabulous friends also surprised me with Michel Cluizel hot chocolate mix in an irresistible milk-churn tin. The only French hot chocolate mix available at Biagio, I'm keen to see how it measures up to recent chocolat chaud samplings in Paris! Absolutely awesome to see this little chocolate store going strong more than two years after I first set foot inside. A definite Dupont Circle gem!

This is a magical land of a chocolate shop and I can't believe it is in DC. What makes it so great. 1. The people who work there are the nicest and most chocolate aware people I have ever met. I'm in chocolate heaven! What an awesome chocolate shop in the Adam's Morgan/DuPont Circle area. A chocolate tasting this past weekend brought me there and I was really impressed with their selection of international gourmet chocolates. They serve everything from 100% dark chocolate (umm, bitterness anyone?!) to goat's milk chocolate with sea salt, drinking chocolate, local chocolate, fair trade, organic, and everything in between. Perfect place to grab a gift for that picky chocolate lover. What really impressed me was the level of customer service. The staff takes chocolate seriously and they know their stuff. Very friendly staff and super helpful. Note: This is a very small shop (with a back room for tastings, etc.); however, they aren't short on selection and charm. Definitely check it out. You will be in chocolate heaven too.

Chocolate is to women what duct tape is to men....it fixes everything. The Chocolate House is less of a house and more of a shrine to all things chocolate whether your fancy is cocoa nibs, chocolate bars, drinking chocolate, confectioneries, or truffles. Here you will not get the best of both worlds, you will get the best of THE world as they scour the globe and hand pick the best chocolates from the top chocolatiers in the region, country, and the world so there is literally a who's who of chocolates that even vary depending on the season. Alex, one of the owners, served as my guide upon stepping into this unassuming little shop in the Dupont Circle neighborhood. After waiting on him help out the lady in front of me hand pick a set of chocolates as gifts for her family, he went out of his way to express his gratitude for my patience by weighing out a little extra chocolate without charge, offering up some samples of various salted caramels to find the perfect match for a boxed set I was assembling, and introducing me to a local artist in residence who has pieces on display in the gallery in the back of the shop, which also functions as a classroom for courses for chocolate tasting/making truffles, which one can sign up for online on their website. Their passion for chocolate is evident due to their efforts to connect consumers with chocolate makers and even the cacao farmers sponsoring events such as the DC Chocolate Festival (this year on April 9th) and never being complacent with their search for the best chocolates. At first I thought Alex was joking but he was probably completely serious when he told me that he would pay me in good chocolate if I had any good leads on other chocolatiers whom they could form future partnerships. A wonderful boutique with decadent bites to please any girl's heart and the candy store of candy stores for any self-proclaimed chocoholic.

Tucked away in a tiny corner in North DuPont, this chocolate shop offers delicious chocolates and is sure to have something for everyone. From assorted truffles from around the country and vegan chocolate bars, to rich chocolates from France and local items from the DMV area, this place offers some amazing variety. Plus, they have a small tasting area for a handful of amazing milk and dark chocolates. If you're walking by or in the are, definitely stop in.

By far best selection of quality craft chocolate in the DMV area. That said, I have to ding it a little for the price markup. A number of the chocolates (especially local brands like Harper Macaw or Potomac Chocolate that are featured in many DC supermarkets) can be found elsewhere for ~25% less.

Great service, great knowledge, and great conversation. Carlton was the man! I had to get my Aunt some chocolates for her retirement and with her being Boujee I had to step my game up from Hersey's Kisses or else I wouldn't be invited over for thanksgiving this year. Anyways Carlton helped me out and arranged a lovely box for the Auntie. Recommended bomb-ass flavors and their origins are all local DMV area chocolates. The chocolate was delicious, but I definitely will be coming back because of the great service and attention to detail by Carlton. Thanks Everyone!

The Chocolate House has some of the best chocolates and truffles in DC. The truffles especially -- from an Arlington-based chocolate place -- are really special. It's pricey, but high quality. It's small, but it packs a punch. Service is thoughtful, kind, and welcoming. Lots of samples. Highly recommend for gifts, special occasions, or anyone looking to invest in better chocolate for themselves : )

The Chocolate House is a chocolate tasting shop where you can go, taste different flavored chocolates and buy the ones you liked. They have a variety of chocolate options.I tried the salted caramel, passion fruit and the orange honey. All were delicious but passion fruit was breathtaking! Normally, I do not like fruits with chocolate however the passion fruit had white chocolate on the outside and passion fruit marmalade on the inside. It was very light and freshening. I highly recommend it! Even if you do not like the ones I have tried, you can always find a chocolate flavor that will match with your taste in this shop! If you love chocolate, this shop will look like heaven to you! Don't miss it!!

I spend a lot of time in DC on business, and I frequently find myself doing Yelp searches for great little places in the area. Most recently, I found that Cocova was less than a mile from my hotel, so I figured I'd walk over (hey, I'll burn off at least one piece of chocolate, right?) and see what they had to offer. Cocova is located below street level - just head down a quick flight of stairs and enter paradise! I was immediately greeted by a friendly employee, and inquired about purchasing a gift box of their handmade chocolates. He showed me the selection and the pricing structure, and I was pleased to find that their chocolates come in at about $2 each. For handmade treats of this quality, I wasn't put off by the price. It's a splurge, but I really shouldn't be able to afford to eat Cocova's treats as often as I'd like! We put together a beautiful box of their tasty treasures, but I must admit that it took some time to make all the selections! I went for the box of 15, and didn't get a duplicate of a single item. All that, and there were still so many more to choose from! They've got a huge variety of interesting flavors: pepper, lavender, whiskey, butterscotch, champagne... even fun things like peanut butter and jelly! I managed to hold off on the first night (meaning I only sampled one treat - PB&J). These are definitely chocolates you'll want to share, and they're sure to please your toughest customer!

I've been coming here for five years now. It used to be called Biagio back in the day. I'd only been living in America a few weeks, and I was wandering around DC one day when I walked by Biagio. One glimpse at the words "fine chocolate" on the sign and I sauntered right in. The then-owner, Biagio, had worked decades as a flight attendant and sampled chocolate from all around the world. He introduced me to some new, wonderful, and inventive flavors. Truffles are $2 a piece, but absolutely worth it -- you only need to enjoy one or two at a time. My favorites are by Christopher Elbow: lavender caramel, bananas foster. I've never found them to be as fresh at other places that carry truffles (such as Dean & Deluca) as they are at Cocova / The Chocolate House. Also, if you ever see the milk chocolate Gavottes or Valrhona crispy chocolate pearls, grab a bag! They're highly addictive and sell out quickly. I've come back over the years to buy presents for friends or family (always well-received), or treat myself to a piece of bananas foster chocolate.

If you're looking for high quality, beautiful chocolates, this truly is as good as it gets. You have to find this place tucked downstairs in dupont but the small space packs a lot of chocolate. Not only do they have truffles,and other chocolates to be boxed, but they have a large assortment of bars, cocoas for baking and even high quality chips. As a baker, if you want to make cookies with some chocolate to impress people, then you really should come here. They also happen to carry my favorite vegan chocolate from Charm School Chocolate which I haven't found in stores yet. I've been around the US and have been in very few chocolate shops that I like this much.

I recently completed The Truffle Making Class as a gift from my best friend for my birthday. In my opinion the class was the perfect length, level of complexity, and diversion on a Sunday afternoon. I have recently gotten into enjoying and trying exotic chocolate bars and always love experience and learning based activities. Naturally, my super thoughtful best friend thought this would be the perfect outing for me to deepen my understanding of my new interest. She was very correct in her thought (Thank you Shraddha!). The class is about 2 hours (ours was 2.5 hours but our group expressed we were in no rush) -- not too long, not too short. There is such clear instruction that while Truffle Making seems intricate and delicate you will succeed even if you are inept at anything culinary. Even if you do not want to make them yourself ever again, you definitely could and you will appreciate chocolate making more. You also get to take a lot of truffles home. A lot. Our group was 5 people so the class was intimate and our instructor Carlton was incredibly knowledgable and encouraging. I took this class solo so I can say that if you love learning and chocolate you will not feel out of place taking this on your own. However, if interested, this class is definitely great as a group / in twos if you'd like it to be friend outing / bonding session, interesting date alternative, or group activity. Highly recommend!

This is such a cute small boutique chocolate shop. I came in to make a box as a gift and you get to hand pick all the pieces, and they have a great display for all their chocolates. They have chocolate from Europe (Swiss, Belgium, etc), local places like Arlington and even chocolate from Kansas City! I picked out an assortment for a box of 10 pieces and it was $25 so it is a little pricey but honestly I think it's worth it. I didn't see much else of the store I was mostly there just to get the box, but they have a lot of things like chocolate bars, hot coco packet boxes, and so much more. I decided to try a piece for myself, i got the Blood orange caramel (from Kansas) and it was actually incredible. It literally melted in my mouth and the orange flavor was quite potent in a good way. I would definitely come back here again to give a nice gift box to someone or even to just treat myself. I find a lack of chocolatiers housing local and specialty chocolates in the city, especially in the dupont area. Glad this one is here I now have a go to! The only drawback is that the store is next to a kitty shop, so it smells like cats inside, but I'm not sure how they could fix that as it's not their fault.

I'm writing this review based on the quality of the chocolate. You should go in knowing that @CocovaDC uses extremely high quality ingredients from all over the world and that you're going to be getting what you're paying for. The only thing that I believe is working against this small, cute chocolate shop is that it is not well advertised and hidden away. I lived about two blocks away from the shop and walked up and down the street it was on for three months and I never even knew it existed until a coworker told me about it. You have to be really conscious of where it is when you're first trying to find it, but after the first time you'll never be able to forget about it. I took my coworker who was trying to find a nice and delicious gift. He made a box of eight and I made my own box of four. According to the saleswoman, the fleur de sol is the bestseller and for good reason because it is absolutely delicious but I was pretty frustrated when she couldn't recommend any others and there were about 20 options. I ended up going with the: 1. Fleur de Sol 2. Pomegranate 3. Butterscotch 4. Malted Milk I didn't have the malted milk but one of my friends did and he said it was to DIE for. Love Cocova and you can get a free class when you check in on Yelp :]

This place is great. I tried their mint chocolate and got a bar. The service was great and the chocolates were even better. Will definitely be back. They have specialty chocolate bars that I have never seen before. I love it. A+

Four and a half stars. Popped down the steps into this hole in the wall for the six-bar Fleurir tasting in the quaint gallery nook in back, replete with lit pedestals and a fold-out table. God bless them for having a water cooler to mellow the palate between nibbles. I kept one ear tuned to the chocolatier's discourse on his art and one eye out for that square that cracked into a generous trapezoid. (Bacon chocolate was less awesome than hoped, but really most of their flavors were lovely.) While intrigued by the displayed goodies, I eventually gravitated back towards the front to explore. The staff was reasonably friendly considering the semi-bustling evening traffic. After skimming the reviews, I was hesitant about the idea of a chocolate shop that specializes in vending other people's work. But what they lack in the my-body-smells-of-molten-chocolate front, they make up for with an abundance of credited options. (And now that I know where Veritas sources their sweets, I'll be back to use that 10% off check-in coupon.) A variety of bars for the amateur confectioner to gleefully trot back to their kitchen, baggies of on-the-go snack clusters, and a dynamic spread of truffles painstakingly labeled behind a glass display case. Pretty and yummy gifts that I'd invest in... if I were at all confident that I wouldn't devour a few on the Metro ride home. The organization is fairly logical, sorting by crafter and product type, plus the clearance shelf tucked into the corner on the right. If my sweet tooth got a boner every time I saw a fleur de sel chocolate here, I may as well take an oath of silence.

Anything less than 5 stars for this cute little shop would truly be a crime. I have never seen such a gorgeous, unique assortment of the 5th basic food group (chocolate, duh) in my LIFE! I adore this shop, it is perfect for any special occasion or just to treat yourself. They have bars, they have powders, they have little morsels; its chocolate in every way imaginable. In a nutshell......Like a mini Willy Wonka Factory with way higher quality ingredients. YUM.

Ventured here for their August chocolate tasting and was surprised by the quality and how personal the shop owner is. Yes, my 3 favorite chocolates are pictured below. They were all different, overly satisfying, and simply mind blowing. What was even better was how knowledgeable and personable the shop owner is. All my questions were answered, I learned how to enjoy more complex chocolate, and learned more about the chocolate process. Not the mention the whole time I was nibbling on various samples. My new go-to chocolate place that treats its customers like the liquid gold it sells. I hope I'll be able to make it on Friday for their last free chocolate tasting.

Biagio's is worth the trip for any true chocolate lover. If you think Hersheys is good chocolate -- don't waste your time at Biagio. But, if your taste runs to Godiva and up -- then bring your tastebuds and your Visa card! The place looks like a high-end jewelry store when you walk in, and the chocolates are basically the best you've ever had. You'd think a high-end boutique like this wouldn' t believe in samples -- but you're wrong. My husband and I stopped by on the 4th of July, and William, one of the proprietors, treated us with incredible service. He explained the different kinds of chocolates, pointed out the samples, and treated us to a complimentary Fig soaked in brandy which was covered in chocolate. Have to say, it was extraordinary. I also bought a Carmel de fleur sel (or something like that) which was just amazing and melted in my mouth. My husband bought a Vosges "Naga" chocolate bar and we bought box of pralines apparently made from one of the rarest kinds of chocolate beans. According to William, the pralines will spoil us for all other chocolates! If you are serious about your chocolate, go out of your way to find this tiny gem.

Simply put, this is a superb chocolate shop. Yes, it is extremely expensive (chocolate bars seem to average $9, although there is obviously a range), but good chocolate at Whole Foods is $6-8/bar and you will receive absolutely no help in choosing one that suits your taste. At the Chocolate House, however, you will find some of the best customer service and knowledgable staff I have ever experienced in ANY shop in DC (whether it be clothing, antiques, books, coffee, whatever)! Special thanks to Antonio, who stayed open past closing to educate me on the best this shop has to offer. He gives spot-on recommendations and knows the brands/flavors inside and out! So skip Whole Foods, support a local Buisness, and be prepare to be wowed. So why did I rate it 4/5 stars? Because it is not wheelchair accessible and I cannot give a buisness my endorsement if it is not open to all. Plus, I wish they sold water/milk! And gluten free brownies :) Treat yo self to the Chocolate Shop!

I was aimlessly walking around Washington DC trying to find what was good to eat. I saw this place on my nearby lists with a check in offer. Too bad they were closed. We headed here the next day during business hours. Warning: the place is a bit underground so you might miss it. Once you find it, it's sooooooooo worth it. It was actually the record breaking hottest day in Washington DC the day we were there. -___- 101 degrees with 60% humidity. Awesome. Luckily this place was on full blast AC (you know...to save the chocolates, not us people) The lady at the counter was sooooo nice and helpful. I forgot her name, but she was so so sweet. She made many recommendations and because of her, I have tried the better, fresher version of a Snickers bar. There are many samples of different chocolates with different levels of cacao percentages and just about everywhere from the world. This hidden gem is so eclectic-ly full of chocolates from countries you wouldn't even imagine producing chocolate bars. There's also many innovative creative flavored truffles in the display case. The pistachio one is the best.

This is a lovely candy shop that has many fine pieces from around the USA and world. They have the best selection of nicely made chocolates I have ever seen, very colorful artistic pieces of chocolate! They also have samples of different styles for you to try, so you can get a taste for what you are buying before hand. The team members are very friendly and knowledgeable in assisting you in your chocolate pursuit. If you are looking for some unique pieces of candy this is the spot for you.

So my girlfriend and I went here for the first time during one of their Saturday afternoon chocolate tastings. That alone is definitely worth the 5 stars! It was a bright sunny afternoon, and although we first walked past the place (because it is located on a below-street level), we were so impressed when we finally walked in. The aroma of chocolate was everywhere and we were greeted with smiling faces and quickly escorted to the back where the chocolate was beautifully displayed for tasting. They looked like little works of art - especially the multicolor chocolates displayed in the glass showcase in the front of the store. By far, my favorites were the dark 65%+ cocoa chocolates. So good! I also tried other varieties - like white chocolate, and chocolate bark, but I do have to say simple is better! My only complaint is that they should have some milk to go with the chocolate tasting! :)

I bought a box of chocolate (10 pc for $23) to take home with me. The place is pretty small, and the chocolate is displayed like jewelry in a jewelry store. The service was good and the chocolate flavors were pretty and unique (e.g. lavender caramel, chipotle, cocojito, fresh mint, mango lassi). They apparently offer classes, but since this was just a short weekend trip, I didn't get a chance to check it out.

The truffle making class was a hit! My friends and I really enjoyed the process and we had very clear instruction. Even though the class is two hours, it wasn't too difficult. They provided a recipe for us to take home, but we didn't need to refer to it at all during class. There were some period of down time (waiting for the ganache to freeze), but we used that time to peruse the shop and buy some chocolate. We all had a great time and really liked the truffles, toppings/spices, and instructor. It was fun to experiment with the different flavors. The only small tip would be to double or triple the ingredients if there are two or three people in a group. Everyone paid the same amount for this class, but when you take the class in teams of two or three, you get half or one-third the amount of truffles in the end. I ended up going home with 4.5 truffles. :( Also, the truffles the store was selling were divine. Highly recommend true lemon, vanilla/hazelnut, and strawberry champagne. I also bought a corn and peanut butter chocolate bar that will change your life!

I went here for a chocolate tasting class with my partner - we learned a lot and had a blast doing it. Marisol was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and made the whole experience worth it. Highly recommended for the class and the chocolate (their truffles are amazing).

Pros Cute little spot under the toe path basement Entrance. Bathroom accessible clean not a mess. Variety of chocolate that melts and lingers in your mouth. Get the burnt white chocolate and the dark chocolate tabs to make hot coco. It's almost a Hazelnut flavor but better. Guy working counter is knowledgeable and patient. Cons I live to far! None Recommend after a nice dinner or gift for someone.

I only came in for hot chocolate on a cold day, but it was very worth it. Probably the best hot chocolate I have ever had. All of the chocolates there were beautifully crafted. I can not wait to go back and taste them! They even offered a new DC brand called Harper Macaw, which is a fine chocolate company dedicated to Brazil's Amazon rain forest protection! Wins all around here.

My girlfriend and I came to DC for her Bday, while walking around we came across The Chocolate House. Even though it was closed for the night, Carlton greeted with with open arms and smiles. We automatically started munching on the samples, any chocolate fan will tell you that each one you try is better than the last. The chocolate house is a must for any chocolate fan or anyone with a sweet tooth! We went back the next day for more!

So expensive...but oh so good. I am a sucker for Biagio's spicy pepper dark chocolate dusted almonds (whatever they're called - $15/bag I believe and oh so good). Perfect for those of you with or without a sweet tooth (my bf doesn't like sweets, and he liked these!) Note: I first encountered Biagio chocolate at a tasting at Schneider's of Capitol Hill (a wine-chocolate pairing session). So ask them for wine suggestions! They also have an extensive chocolate bar selection. If you want to dress it up a little, I recommend going for their truffle selection. They have amazing truffles, drinking chocolates, exotic chocolate bars, etc. However, if you're not a fiend who will down a whole bag of chocolate in one setting, you can definitely find something in your price range to savor. Obviously super busy around V-day and Christmas. The customer service is *excellent* at this place! Plus, they supported Hands on DC last yr, so I will heart them forever!

I can't believe it took so long for me to stumble upon this chocolate oasis. Chocolate House is on 18 and T right next to a cat boarder. It's a small location with a lot of variety and samples. The truffle case is the real attraction though, and the staff member was so helpful and friendly. Also had some great chocolate tea while I browsed. I bought a gift box and he was very helpful as I chose truffles; I ended up getting two to eat while I was in there and his suggestions were delicious. I will certainly be back to grab some gift boxes for myself and I plan to try as many truffles as I can!

Oh lordy, this is a dangerous place to live near. It's like Disneyland for chocolate crazed adults, once inside I lose all capability of logical rational thought. Don't judge, I'm only human. The truffles are so gorgeous, I almost did not want to eat them, but that lasted all of five seconds and then I got busy. Chocolate Orgasm. My favorites so far are the PB&J, Salted Butter Caramel, Fleur de Sel, and the Caramel Fleur de Sel.

When I gave birth to my son, I received many lovely gifts-- flowers, baby clothes, etc. But nothing sweetened my immediate postpartum period like the incredible gift basket that dear friends ordered from The Chocolate House. A thoughtfully curated selection was hand-delivered to my door, and it included some of the tastiest chocolates I've ever had. From the locally made to the globally sourced, milk to darkest dark, silky to nutty, the variety was incredible. So naturally The Chocolate House was top of mind when a chocolate-loving family member's birthday rolled around, and my in-store visit did not disappoint. First of all, SAMPLES GALORE! Of course my gift basket had but a dusting of the many offerings...just. so. much. chocolate. And I think it's worth noting that though this is a boutique shop with some very high end product, it is not inaccessible. There are a variety of price points, and the quality is so high that one needn't spend a fortune to be satisfied. Further, there are lots of different flavors to suit any palate, adventurous to classic. I purchased beautiful truffles, a couple bars, and mentally dogeared a bunch of things for next time. The people assisting me were incredibly personable and helpful-- just a lovely environment. And they do classes! This place is a D.C. gem to be sure-- so glad to have it nearby. Thank you!
