Belgian Chocolate Is Coming Out of Its (Sea)Shell

"Dominique Persoone of The Chocolate Line is certainly the poster boy of this movement. Before finding his true calling in cacao, he worked in the kitchen of a MICHELIN-starred restaurant in Paris. The Chocolate Line offers chocolates of different unconventional flavour combinations." - Vincent Leung

Was recommended this store and I was not disappointed when I entered. The amazing amount of work they do is incredible. They have their own cocoa farm in Mexico, and they make their own chocolate from scratch. The passion that goes into their craft is spectacular. Also it's a plus their flavours are a bit out of the box.

Google
Delicious chocolate. We asked the lady serving us to pick the chocolates she likes most and the result was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend the yuzu mango and the raspberry cheesecake pralines. The chocolates melted in our mouths and each one of them was unique and very tasty. Can't wait to try them again.

Google
The worst experience. The shop was extremely busy, and the staff didn’t have time to answer any of my questions. I spent a lot of money on chocolate, expecting to try and enjoy it, but one of the flavors I specifically asked for—a dark chocolate with almonds—was replaced with a salted chocolate, which I absolutely dislike. It’s not cheap to pay this much only to end up throwing the chocolate away. There is also a butter flavor in your chocolates, which I wasn’t expecting. Overall, I do not recommend this place. There is a wide variety of chocolate, it’s impossible to know the flavors. The employees were very busy, rude, and seemed to have little knowledge about the chocolates themselves.

Google
This was our first visit to Brugge. This particular chocolate shop was recommended by our tour guide ( Tauck). This definitely was not a disappointment The place was crowded, but we were able to purchase some fantastic chocolate. There is a myriad amount of similar stores here. We were fortunate that the owner Dominic was present. He came around from a busy counter to take a photo with us tourist. Highly recommend.

Google
Very mixed feelings. The seller was extremely unfriendly and stingy. Even though I placed a large order, I first asked to try a small piece of yogurt-flavored chocolate, as I wasn’t sure I would like it. He said I had to pay and, after breaking off a tiny piece, told me I owed one euro. A very strange approach toward a customer who is ready to buy — and buy a lot — yet isn’t even allowed to taste before purchasing. As a result, I blindly bought half a kilo of chocolate with hazelnuts. According to my taste buds, I wouldn’t say this chocolate is worth the price. I’ve had better. I was left disappointed by the phrase: «legendary Belgian chocolate».

Google
Our guide suggested this place and we found it nice. They have won the title of the chocolatier of the year; the chocolatier was nice and humble and was coming out from time to time to have photos with his customers. There were machines Grinding Coco beans and making chocolate at the spot. The atmosphere is amazing. We had different chocolates but I found hot chocolate the best.

Nicolas C.

Google
Very creative chocolates that work really well. Flavours I had never seen before like cilantro habanero lime or apple balsamic and caramel. This was a really nice experience and a box of 8 was around 10€ which wasn’t too bad. Only thing I can say though is that most chocolates were liquor chocolates and, it is but a personal opinion, but I am not a big fan of those so I wish they had some of the special flavors without liquor.

Sabri Dönmez

Google
A chocolate lover’s paradise! The hot chocolate is a must-try, and the staff are wonderfully friendly. Great selection too! I will definitely miss this hot chocolate. Even though it’s a bit expensive (€7.5), but every sip worths it.

Yelp
"The Chocolate Line" in Bruges, Belgium is hands down the best chocolate shop we have encountered in our travels through Belgium. After sampling chocolates from about 17 different shops in 4 different cities, we can confidently say that The Chocolate Line stands out as a true gem. We were initially drawn to the shop by its inviting and elegant storefront, and once inside, we were greeted by a tantalizing display of artisanal chocolates. We decided to try three different pieces and were immediately blown away by the quality and complexity of flavors. Each chocolate was a work of art, beautifully crafted and bursting with rich, decadent flavors. In fact, we were so impressed that we couldn't resist going back for a fourth piece. The chocolates at The Chocolate Line are truly exceptional, with a perfect balance of sweetness and depth of flavor. The creativity and attention to detail that goes into each piece is evident, and it's clear that the chocolatiers at The Chocolate Line are truly passionate about their craft. Overall, our experience at The Chocolate Line was nothing short of exceptional. If you find yourself in Bruges, Belgium, do not miss the opportunity to visit this chocolate paradise. Trust us when we say that this is the best chocolate shop in Belgium, and you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Skip the chocolate tour and go here to see people making chocolate, learn a little about the chocolate making process, and buy some sweets. My seven-year-old daughter loved buying the number seven out of chocolate and chocolate lip balm.

Yelp
I never knew one piece of chocolate could be so unique . This place makes chocolate an art with unique combinations and beautiful artistry . You can watch the chocolatier make his creations Helpful staff . We got a bag and sampled a few . Amazing flavors and so smooth . All I can say is yum

Yelp
The Chocolate Line is a good spot to grab chocolates from while in Bruges. We selected a few and enjoyed them at a picnic bench that was close by. If you are looking for gifts to take home, they have good options.

Yelp
The Chocolate Line has been one of the more established chocolatier in Bruges. I first visited Bruges in 2008 and read this is one of the chocolate shops known for experimenting different flavors. Now 16 years later they're still at it. The shop itself has gotten much fancier. I imagine due to over tourism and all the hypes b/c this is actually one of the finer chocolate shops in Bruges vs. many just look fancy but no quality. They're constantly changing flavors. We bought two sets of the 100g I think boxes and filled at least two dozen chocolates. My favorite was the "Deadly Delicious", a dark chocolate shell in the shape of a skull with blueberry and currant filling. I will say most of flavors are spot on and it's fun to try spices and flavors that you normally don't associate with chocolate. However, the the flavored centers are either praline (a bit on the gritty side, i prefer smooth) or liquidity jelly, not as refined as I'd like. the chocolate shell can be more velvety too. I do think this place has become overly commercialized over the years. Nonetheless, it's a fun visit to the shop. I usually don't promote another brand in my reviews. I'm a dark chocolate aficionado and I can't help myself here... for high quality chocolates especially dark chocolates with smooth velvety pralines i recommend Galler Chocolate.

Erich L.

Yelp
Rated the best chocolates in Belgium. They have a variety of chocolate flavors including tobacco. It's easy to spend a lot of money here. With all of the choices for chocolate, this place is a good one.
google avatar

Corey C.

Yelp
Whoever says "meh" to chocolate hasn't been here. With so many fresh praline and plain chocolate options, including beverages and some throw back candy-bar copycat style packaged treats you are sure to find yourself a lil something something. Or, several somethings! Normally I'm all about the plain chocolate options but this place has some unique flavors~ Banana caramel praline? Yes. Coffee praline? You bet. Yuzu (orange) Yuuuup.
google avatar

Dave S.

Yelp
I was ready to dismiss this place due to the decor and large photos of the owners. It seemed like it was trying too hard to be a cool chocolate place which is usually a bad sign for food, and it's in a very touristy area, which means they might do well just having a nice storefront but bad products. However, we had been advised to try this place and I'm glad we gave it a chance. I tried some of the very strange flavor combinations in the pralines and they did not disappoint. The flavors are layered so that multiple waves of flavor hit you as you take a bite and mash the flavors against your tongue. I did not try the bacon flavored ones as I have already tried bacon and chocolate and it's not my thing, but everything else was delicious.

Yelp
This place here is a popular spot. Chocolate, Pralinés and sweets as far as you can see. Went in to buy a good load of different Pralinés. And yes, they do look like pieces of art. Well, they are. Wonderful designs. A real feast for your eyes. There are countless options and countless different fillings. Chocolate, caramel, creamy, fruity etc. We weren't really a fan of the fruity ones (Framboise, Appeltje). So the classic chocolate-filled pralinés (Arthur, Carasel, Creole) were our favourites. Belgium chocolate is famous. World famous. Some say they beat the Swiss chocolate. Well, even though nice looking and tasty, I must say that it's still not a competition for Swiss chocolate so far. Not as creamy, not as milky, not as smooth. But it's a nice shop. A makes very very nice gifts. But to treat ourselves I have to say a one-time visit was enough though.

Yelp
As delicious as they are beautiful, these chocolates are a decadent treat. We sampled a bunch and loved every flavor.

Yelp
Pre-dinner indulgence. We stopped in here yesterday on our way to the city center to purchase some chocolates for souvenirs and for snacking. The atmosphere is definitely more swanky than the other couple shops that we've been to--less refined and more funky. The chocolates match the vibe: we got one that was flaming red lips made with a gin ganache that ended up being surprisingly delicious. We didn't love the yuzu but the skull ones (raspberry, blueberry, hazelnut) where OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD good. There were a couple of white ones that we're forgetting, and our daughter got a teddy bear chocolate lollipop that kept her blissfully silent for a few moments. Overall, not our favorite chocolate place so far, but it is the most interesting one.
google avatar

Debbie G.

Yelp
If I could give this place a 6 star I would. Best chocolates, best service. Every chocolate is a piece of art and tastes heavenly. I purchased from several shops in Brussels, Ghent and Bruges recommended by locals and none of them compare to the Chocolate Line. I wish they had a store in Montreal. Do not hesitate to check this place out. You won't regret it.

Yelp
These are some of the best chocolates in the world! I have had some pretty great chocolates in my lifetime, but none of them compare with the chocolates from The Chocolate Line. Where do I start? The incredible attention to detail is apparent the moment you bite into these chocolates. Only the most highest quality ingredients are used in the chocolates resulting in some of the smoothest tasting chocolate you will ever try. You will find almost any combination of milk, dark, and white chocolate that you can dream of. The fillings range from your typical nuts and caramels and broaden to playful combinations of fruits, spices, and other candy fillings. One of my favorite included one with pop rocks. You could feel the pop rocks crackle on your tongue! My husband isn't much of a fan of sweets, but even he could agree that these chocolates were so special! We are on the last of our chocolates from our last trip to Brugge so we booked another vacation in April so we can stock up on more chocolates from The Chocolate Line!

Yelp
The Chocolate Line was such a cool place to visit. They make really cool chocolates and made a Yuzu chocolate voted best in the world this year. They have also made "official" chocolates for the Rolling Stones. The chocolates are very unique with interesting combinations and presentation. They also had regular chocolates, bars and gifts. Honestly, it was a bit overwhelming for me and I didn't know what to do or where to start. How lucky that Julius was the one to help me/us. He was so patient and offered his suggestions and even when another patron was being impatient and rude, he made sure to make me feel like the top priority. I felt like I was at some high end clothing store and he was my personal shopper. He was great and his suggestions did not disappoint with interesting and unique flavors. My husband is not as adventurous, but definitely tried all suggestions. The Yuzu chocolate was very good and I'm glad we got two! I would come here again! Thanks Julius!

C. S.

Yelp
We visited the Chocolate Line via a food tour with Patrick (with Locals). They were absolutely amazing! Not only is their chocolate the most amazing we've ever had, their chocolate w/milk is the most decadent thing on the planet. We bought enough for the whole family, lol. We'll be back!

Yelp
If your looking for the "winner chocolate shop" in Bruges, Belgium among the over one hundred chocolate shops, look no further! The Chocolate Line is located in the heart of Bruges, Belgium and has over 60 types of chocolate. They start from the coco bean from various parts of the world and this makes the difference! The fun shapes, colors, and most importantly flavor combos made us like this chocolate shop the best! The chocolate would just melt in your mouth! The hazelnut praline and matcha chocolate were unique and you can look online on their website at the various types. You can order online but we noticed it's only certain parts of the year! Do yourself a favor and visit the Chocolate Line if you ever visit Bruges, Belgium or order some treats offline and you will thank me later.

Yelp
What a cute shop! This shop offers so much! You can see the production line for chocolates and check out how chocolates are processed/made. There is a wide range of single origin chocolates to choose from and the service is top notch friendly! It is very busy here but they are also adequately staffed to serve the customers. The window display is absolutely adorable and the decor feels welcoming and homey. I highly recommend this shop! Get some chocolates, too!

Yelp
For my money, the best chocolate shop in Bruges. Any flavor your heart desires, including sake, coca cola, and hemp, as well as your more traditional pralines and ganaches. This shop is especially fun as they have cool displays and you can see them making complex creations in the back. Staff was efficient and used to tourists. I had a few to share on the spot and was a little bit nervous about my take-home "My Way" box as our pieces melting on our fingers... however, my box held up well throughout the rest of my un-climate-controlled travels and an extra week in the fridge at home. Delicious stuff-- try the Miss Piggy, Havana, and Asian Confetti. I would hit up The Chocolate Line for interesting gifts (for yourself or others), Neuhaus or Dumon to try more traditional high-end chocolate, and the touristy street by the Grand Place to grab treats to give away to friends and coworkers.

Stanley S.

Yelp
Best or second best? Recently they won an award as best or innovative chocolate makers and I can see why. We visited here and though I still think Dumon is slightly better, it could be considered a toss-up. All chocolate is made on premises and the flavors are very distinct and at times, very unusual. I find the only issue at the store is the lines. People huddle around the huge assortment at the counter as they pick their flavors, often asking what they are. But that is a store function and nothing to do with the actual product. This visit we only went to Dumon and here since I do not think the others come close (including the venerable Neuhaus which you can get anywhere and has gone big corporation) In a sea of pretenders The Chocolate Line takes risks with their product and it has paid off well for them; not just financially but in quality and recognition of that quality. Atop by and pick out a bunch;just don't dawdle because I am waiting right behind you.

Yelp
This is the kind of chocolate shop you won't see at they airport, so definitely stop and make your pick when you're in either Brugge or Antwerp. (At least when I flew out of BRU I didn't see it). One of the best chocolate shops in Brugge apparently. Tons of different and unique flavors of different ingredients, not just your typical ganache, caramels, or nut fillings, instead they have flavors like matcha, calamari, lemongrass, and berries, with cute colors, shapes and sizes. No matter what you get, they will literally melt in your mouth!
google avatar

Gina W.

Yelp
We popped in at closing time so we may have missed the lines. Put our fate in their expert hands "Choose any eight" see where it lands. Magical chocolate mystery tour some traditional, some obscure. Creamy caramel is familiar while crispy onions could bewilder. Unforgettable, there's no contest, The Chocolate Line does chocolate best.
google avatar

Kathy P.

Yelp
Very cute place! The staffs were very friendly. The chocolate are so cute! They have special chocolate, example, bacon, hot pepper etc! Brought a box back to Canada and everyone enjoyed!
google avatar

Kenny C.

Yelp
This place is a MUST for chocolate lovers. As soon as you walk in, you get a mini exhibit of how they make chocolate (and if you're lucky, there will be someone actually working on something fancy, like rolling chocolate onto a cake). The founder Dominique Persoone also has a very respectable outlook on business. He pays fair wages to the countrymen from where he sources supplies. And the chocolate is made with the best ingredients possible. The store section is a bit daunting. But here's a tip - start in the back where they sell chocolate by the pound, and then make your way up to the pralines and prepackaged chocolates in the middle, and finally end all the way in the front where they have their super wacky pralines with out-there experimental flavors. I believe it was €5 for 3 pralines. The ones I went for: -Italiano - with balsamic, tomato and basil -The Deadly Delicious - shaped like a skull with hazelnut and raspberry jelly -And just a standard dark chocolate one as a control They had some crazier flavors, like a "cannabis" one with hemp, a Cuban one with Havana leaves, and an Asian one. I wish I could've tried them all!
google avatar

Glenn C.

Yelp
Chocolate was very good but i am downgrading a star due to pricing. It was 66 euro per kg double or triple others. It was very good but not worth the high premium. I liked that you could see the chocolate sculpturer.

Brenna H.

Yelp
Best chocolate in bruges!! Staff are so amazing and helpful. They have such an amazing selection and the chocolate is very high quality.
google avatar

Alicia C.

Yelp
Really inventive chocolate shop! Loved all the unique flavors. We did a chocolate tour in Brussels the day prior and had more traditional pralines but this place felt a little more magical, almost a feeling of Willy Wonka where inventing something that is bold yet whimsical is a the goal. It's a little naughty with just a sliver of nice. Really loved the vibe here. Grab a box for the train back to Brussels ;)
google avatar

Michael U.

Yelp
Based out of Bruges with a location now in Antwerp and chocolates offered at elite shops and restaurants throughout Belgium, The Chocolate Line by Dominique Persoone is considered by some to be one of the most innovative Chocolate Shops in all of Europe, a quick look at her collection showing influences coming from East and West with Historical favorites equally well crafted at a price that proves a bargain considering the quality of each tablet, praline and truffle. Smaller than many of the country's elite chocolatiers, the store bordering on 'crowded' with glass cases lining one side, shelves on the other with a workshop behind the counter in back, those entering The Chocolate Line are immediately struck by the sheer variety of options and with several different boxes available the question becomes one of personal preference and just how much each guest chooses to splurge. Open until 18h30 seven days a week, a bit later than Dumon or The Old Chocolate House with a better selection than both, temptation at The Chocolate Line comes in several forms with pralines being the most prevalent, the newest collection taking a look at the flavors of the world with a particular focus on China and India but also with items as unique as Chocolate infused with Tomato and Basil called the "Italien." Offering several unique molds for the confections, some shaped like Buddha, Apples or Corncobs truly ornate, flavors ranging from Dark Ganache to Lychee and Ginger were particularly intriguing, the Saffron Curry as bold as might be expected while Pure Criollo was spicy without being too much so, the best bite of the group coming from the Walnut topped Milk Chocolate with a bittersweet interior, though the white chocolate Nougat was also quite great.
google avatar

Edward J.

Yelp
The chocolate selection is fantastic. The have a variety of chocolate from numerous countries which makes them pretty unique from my experience. The chocolate is a bit expensive but I think you pay for the quality that you receive.
google avatar

Rebecca L.

Yelp
Just off the main square, this is a delicious chocolatier. They have very unique combinations flavors. You can buy the chocolate by piece, so you can literally taste everything they offer. Alternatively, you can also buy their pre-boxed chocolates. Definitely a place to try!
google avatar

Akua A.

Yelp
This place is a gem. Walking in town asking everyone for the best chocolate store in Bruge but there were so many opinions. I arrived here by accident and loved the set up. They had a cute walk in short display of how chocolate is made. At the end of the display you can see a chef making the chocolates. Once on the other side of the store you see a plethora of options. I picked the salted caramel 1 for 0.70 euros and I must say it was splendid. It was very expensive chocolate but it tasted fabulous. It's really good for a taster in Bruge but not a buy a whole bunch for friends and family. Just go to the supermarket for that.
google avatar

Kat C.

Yelp
Really cool experience and lovely shop. My chocolates were super hit or miss though. But, i think that's a thing - Forrest Gump was good for something. Shit is expensive though.
google avatar

Jon S.

Yelp
Best chocolate I've ever had. Exceeded all expectations -- not to mention the amazing service and great prices. Already planning on going back for more tomorrow. And if my family is lucky maybe I'll bring some home for them. Try the Sake, Fresh Mint, Cachasa, & Earl Grey flavors. But you can't go wrong with any.
google avatar

Cathérine D.

Yelp
Of You are Looking for special chocolade, this is the place to BE. You can see the artisanal kitchen trough a glass window when entering the shop. The personal is very well trained and give good suggestions and explanation of what you can buy. Pricy but ohhhh so good.
google avatar

David E.

Yelp
Amazing. The selection. The ingredients. The flavor. There is something for everyone. Tobacco chocolate? Who knew?! This is a must.
google avatar

Sarah T.

Yelp
I am a fan! This chocolate place has so many interesting flavors and they are sooo good. I really like the Asian confetti and also Deathly delicious. But I wish I could try try them all. I really love when creativity meets food and this chocolate place is really packed with creativity.
google avatar

Matt W.

Yelp
"We are artisanal. No chemicals. No gluten free no egg free no nothing. Maybe that's why we are so good." When we tried to understand if any of the chocolate had egg in it due to our sons egg allergy this is what we were told. So, apparently all their chocolate has egg in it. We tried to understand if it had egg INSIDE it or just cross contamination- our son is fine with "same facility". They refused to entertain our questions. Most other places have been much more accommodating to try and understand the allergy issue. So sorry if we have to make sure our son won't die eating your product. I found the two people we spoke to unhelpful and rude.

Yelp
Supposedly by comparing Belgium chocolate versus American chocolate like Hershey's chocolate, the Belgium chocolate has a better Quality = Ingredient + Preparation. Hence shops like The Chocolate Line. Iron Chefs, I mean Chocolate Chefs... today your ingredient is Belgian chocolate presented to you from The Chocolate Line... It's a slightly dim setting in the shop. And part of the counter is shielded by high glass stacked with many pieces of chocolate and in various forms on display. Two things hit you in this small shop. The first is the LINE of people! Any more and one would be out the door waiting. People are blocking the view of the chocolates. If you really want to see and experience, one has to be patient or if pressed for time squeeze in there rudely yet politely. The second thing one notices is the array of all the different chocolates scattered around, not just behind the glass display but on the shelves in the open also. Everything from sampler boxes to molded figures. I'm here because I love chocolate and I heard like all the other tourist and that one local on line that the Chocolate Line is good. Is The Chocolate Line chocolates worth it? By comparison to "Hershey's"-like chocolates? Of course, yes, to chocolate lovers like myself but compared to all the other renown Belgian chocolatiers, you're not going notice much of a difference side by side except a little in the flavored ones like Bacon and Earl Tea. It's about the craft of the quality... So, sure, smooth, no side taste, creamier and richer. Yes.
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
The window was a display of two giant size mice cartoon characters. It instantly captured the hearts of many passing the store. Chocolates with flavors like "Cola" or "Wasabi" or "Sake". I particularly loved Marrakech - white chocolate ganache with fresh mint leaves, Madam Butterfly - white chocolate ganache with Japanese Shiso, Cabernet-Sauvignon - the semi-circular dome an explosion of caramel ganache with and pine nuts praliné, Apero - an asymmetrical cut that resembled a green gem filled with passionfruit and vodka, Framboos - bitter ganache with pure raspberry juice I could distinctively taste it. WOW! It blew me away. I shamelessly bought a box of 9 Lavenders for my personal indulgence. One of three chocolate stores in the Michelin Guide. We saw the kitchen in the new Antwerp store it's a pretty cool kitchen! It's located at the Palace at the Meir - very beautiful store. The Chocolate Line caters to adventurous chocolate lovers who are not afraid to be surprised by chocolates with amazing new flavors combined with aromas of the ingredients and quite interesting shapes as well. In the end it was still a very refined chocolate praline or nougatine. It is a gastronomic chocolate journey, few can do that! Dominique Persoone is quite the celebrity in the pastry world, producing enticing chocolates that keeps you wondering about the flavors. Some of the flavors are unique enough you will have a one of a kind experience. To conclude I bought 1 Kg of chocolates from Chocolate Line - it's uniqueness surpassed other overrated chocolatiers (even though we probably loved them anyway) and it's actually priced reasonably. I wished we had a chocolate line here.
google avatar

Lydia K.

Yelp
What can I say, everything we tried was just so good (omg good!!!) that we regret we did not buy more. The best chocolate we had! I really love the green tea + so many more. Anyway, it is a must try in Burges!
google avatar

Maite H.

Yelp
During our visit to Brugge, we visited several chocolate shops & The Chocolate Line was my fav. The shop itself is very quaint & they have countless types of Belgium chocolates ... & all delish! My fav was their white chocolate & prailines. Great tasting chocolate that is moderately priced & the service was friendly! A 5 Star Experience!
google avatar

Monica Q.

Yelp
This place is so freaking cool. I love chocolate, I love experimentation with food and flavor, and this place takes that to the max. I was pretty thorough and read those all of the flavors before choosing the ones that I wanted. The staff is not too helpful about helping you narrow down choices, but if you're overwhelmed, share what you like and then get some recommendations there. I was willing to buy everything so I got a gift box and then picked some that looked the most interesting (I think that worked). This place is not for the timid so keep your imagination open!
google avatar

Nick S.

Yelp
Alright, I wrote in my original review that they didn't seem to have all the flavors that others had mentioned, so perhaps they rotated them. I WAS WRONG. They just have so many damn chocolates it's impossible to see them all when it's packed inside! A return trip with less crowds bore much sweeter rewards. I literally ordered a DOZEN different chocolates I'd not even noticed my first time around. Here's a quick rundown: Miss Piggy - Great if you love bacon. Atlanta - Tastes EXACTLY like Coke. It's freaky, like Jelly Belly buttered popcorn. Sake - All kinds of amazing. Espelette - Chili peppers. Not spicy at all. Maybe a twinge on your tongue. Green Tokyo - Wasabi! Havana - The only one I didn't care for. Tasted like smoked wood. Provence - Lavender. Like eating tasty flowers. Earl Grey - Perfection. Tea chocolates are my favorite. Bangkok - Lemongrass. Weird, yet kind of refreshing. Good palette cleanser. Madam Butterfly - Japanese Shiso. Just try it. Marrakech - Mint leaves. Perhaps the best of them all. Creole - Delicious, delicious coffee. As if this massive list weren't already proof, it's worth it to just go nuts and try everything. :-)
google avatar

Kevin B.

Yelp
The Chocolate Line is a fancy chocolate shop in historic downtown Bruges. Here you can find Belgian truffles, chocolate bars, and other sweet treats. The wares are mostly intended as gifts, and they're a bit pricey - the options aren't as optimized for immediate consumption. But I was able to buy just two truffles to try myself, and they were quite good. Overall not a must-stop, but if you're in need of chocolate truffles for yourself or for someone else, this is a good option.
google avatar

John G.

Yelp
This is the place to go if you love chocolate! Owned by Dominique Persoone, a master chocolatier, who has a Michelin star to prove it. There is really nothing else like this place in the world, just a magical little chocolate shop that will make you dream of coming back some time.
google avatar

Andrew D.

Yelp
They have really crazy flavors and pieces and stuff - tobacco, tequila, earl grey. I've been here a few times, everything I ever had was great. The chocolates are really cool and are great for gifting. The staff is really nice and engaging.
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Top chocolate spot that I've been to. It isn't cheap, but it is extraordinarily good. Service was good, they also had free samples. Really great.
google avatar

Arthur Z.

Yelp
I had been told by my hotel that it was the most famous chocolate shop in Brugge and the long lines confirmed that. I wanted florentine cookies but they were out, so they said they wold make some for me! A few hours later I came back and I had florentine cookies :). Amazing! My favorite purchase was the Shock-o-latier (sprinkles or hagelslag) Every time I use it on ice cream it reminds me of Brugge!

Yelp
I initially went here because I had read about it being the best chocolate store in Brugge. Upon arriving, I was reassured. Half of the shop is reserved to an open concept chocolate making process showing you all of the machines and steps that are required, and the second half is dedicated to the chocolate shop itself. It is the place where I saw the most beautiful, elegant, exotic flavors and sweets. Definitely worth a look. I spoke to one of the employees that was making chocolate and she said that tours were available if you were part of an organized tour group but it was informative regardless.

Yelp
Belgium is famous for it's chocolate and 'The Chocolate Line' is known as one of the best chocolate shops in Bruges(if not Belgium). It does come at a cost but the quality and combination of flavours are so amazing that I still have given it 5 stars. Every flavour imaginable seems to be represented in some way, wasabi even. They do a variety of spice based chocolates, I particular loved the cinnamon one but they also had lemongrass, chilli all bringing out a complex and fascinating symphony to play on the taste buds. The shop window had a huge chocolate dinosaur this year but I understand the display changes regularly.

Yelp
Bruges has turned into a bit of a tourist trap but this place is a gem. It is the best chocolate store I have ever been to. Affordable and yet delicious. So many things to try. Chocolate overdosed indeed. They even have cuban cigar chocolate. I'm a simpleton so my favorite is hazelnut chocolate packed with whole hazelnuts. I can't seem to find anything like that in the US. Whenever I am in Belgium, I will always make time and go out of my way to come here.
