I came here for dinner with one of my friends and we had a great time. The interior of the restaurant is homey and casual, and there's plenty of seating for parties of different sizes. The service here is pretty quick and they were nice. Their menu is pretty simple, with a variety of Thai rice, noodle, and soup dishes (there were no salads on the menu, unfortunately). Their prices and portions are good! I got their pra ram noodles with chicken while my friend got their crispy pork belly. Both dishes were delicious and very comforting. I've never had pra ram noodles before, and really enjoyed it—it was nutty, flavorful, and came with lots of veggies which I loved. Overall, a good casual spot for Thai food in Portland!

Google
Ummm this place is SO CUTE and so delicious!! We just moved to the neighborhood and are thrilled that they’re just a 10 minute walk down the road. We will definitely be frequenting this place a lot! The atmosphere is cute, chill, and relaxing. The service is A+ and the staff was super accommodating and nice. Vegan friendly too. Definitely recommend!

Google
Amazing! BEST Thai food I've ever had in the US! Crab rangoon were awesome and different. Big portion crispy pork belly pad-kra-pao, very flavorful and just purrrrfect! Service is very good, our server super friendly :) I'll give 10/10 overall! (I wish I live here in Portland!)

Google
My favorite restaurant in Portland. The food is amazing! Their crispy pork belly is top notch! The food is always consistent. The family that owns the restaurant and cooks the food is incredibly kind. You're eating family recipes when you eat here. It feels like you're being welcomed into their home to try their incredible food!

Google
Wow! Ate here on our recent trip to Portland. Despite getting slammed due to a concert and being near closing (didn't quite realize how later it was), the owner went above and beyond to make this a great experience. Literally the best Thai I've had...ever. Everything was delicious, owner was amazing. We'll be back next time we're in town!

Google
Service is amazing. Signah by bottle, thai lemonade sooooooo gooood!!! Crab chowder is rich and fresh, crab rangoons were mind blowing, the drunken noodle to die for 10000/10 Get the papaya salad extra hot if you're brave ;) Cheers.

Google
Off the charts food quality, service, awesome portions, and really nice space. This is my favorite Thai place in town now! I got the gaeng panang salmon, which was a super juicy perfectly cooked salmon fillet surrounded by an awesome red coconut curry with red bell peppers and green peas, served with rice. One order was enough to fill me to the brim even though I was really hungry! I also got to-go the pad see ew and Thai tea ice cream (made by them!) And it was all to die for! Can't wait to try the crab Thai chowder next time. Definitely bringing my crew here (nice place for groups), they serve my favorite cider and have great vegan, gf, meat, and seafood options. Very friendly thai family run business, support them!

Google
Charming spot with warm, welcoming staff. Our experience was mixed, but we appreciated the friendly service and cozy atmosphere. Here's what we tried: Tom Yum: Unfortunately, this tasted more like hot water poured over store-bought paste than a house-made broth. It lacked the depth and complexity you'd expect from this dish. Stir-Fried Cashew Chicken: Not what I used to have back in Thailand. The chicken was heavily breaded and tasted off. We only managed a couple bites. Moo Satay: A definite highlight of the meal. Highly recommend this one. Wings with Spicy Glaze: If you have a serious sweet tooth, these are for you. The glaze leaned far more sugary than spicy, almost candy-like in sweetness - we got 5 wings for the order, managed a couple bites on this one, left the rest.

Yelp
Delicious food and wonderful service. I'm blessed to live so close to such a gem of an establishment!

Yelp
If I was rating this place for food taste alone, I would give it five stars. There is plenty of seating and it was easy to park nearby. It was pretty cold in the restaurant. They have a lot of windows, but maybe need to turn up the heat. I saw some pics of beautiful crab rangoon on yelp with something that looked like curry inside. I ordered the crab rangoon and they were indeed gorgeous. They were plated beautifully, fried to perfection, and delicious! They are definitely not traditional and have a curry aspect to the inside. The sauce is also pretty tasty. While delicious, it occurred to me that 4 of these for $7 seems kind of ridiculous, especially compared to the amount of food you get for the price for samosas or even main entrees. I feel like that should have been $5 or had a few more on the plate. The entrée was the tofu with mixed vegetables. It was a beautiful medley and very plentiful. Some people said the tofu was salty, but I think it was the brown sauce that is salty. I really enjoyed the seasoning level, but I prefer heavy salt. The tofu was fried well and they didn't skimp. $14. When asked for hot sauce I agreed! Out of the two options the "fresh chili" is amazing! Spicy It's worth a try.

Yelp
Was in the mood for Thai food and stumbled upon this restaurant while being in the area. I placed an order for take away of three noodle dishes (Pad Thai Noodle with tofu, Pad Kee Mao with pork and Pad See Ew with pork), Moo Satay, Crispy Pork Belly, Fried Chicken and Sweet Sticky Rice with Coconut. Overall the food was fine. The Moo Satay was smaller than expected and didn't taste like it was grilled. The peanut sauce that came along with it was delicious. The Crispy Pork Belly was crispy, but had an unusual sticky chewy texture. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not. The Sweet Sticky Rice with Coconut was extremely small in portion. The rice was overcooked to where it was mushy and the coconut flakes were burnt. I sadly was disappointed. There were no customers at the time I arrived (on a Friday evening). Street parking only and may be difficult as there are limited spaces.

Yelp
I'm a fan! Cute little family owned restaurant serving up large portions of thai food. The owner was so nice too, service is excellent. The restaurant is spacious. There's retro Disney items from the owner's daughter's childhood throughout the restaurant which is so cute! Ambience - casual. It's set in a house that appears to be converted into a restaurant. It's two stories. Order upstairs and head down to take a seat. It's not a "insta-trending" restaurant so doesn't have the wait of other places (which I love). It's reliable, and the food is delicious. Everything we tried has been excellent.

Yelp
Walked in and was hit like a wall with a VERY strong scent as if they had a diffuser blasting out some smell. I have a very strong sense of smell and this was intense enough to nearly make me turn around and leave. I do not want to smell some awful chemical smell when I'm eating but I was already there so... Staff was delightful and all smiles and service was fast. Got the Tom Yum Koong. The broth was too sweet, it had no kaffir, no galangal, no cilantro and the three sections of tomato in the bowl were as if they took a Roma tomato, just cut it into three pieces and added that to the soup which, to me, is just lazy; soup ingredients should be bite sized! I was also taken aback by how small the portion was. These things are perhaps a little nit-pickety but with all the great Thai options out there, I will not be back.

Yelp
I am going to give The Chomp a 5 star. Their food was amazing, easy comfortable atmosphere and very friendly personnel. As you enter you'll need to go up some steps and order your food. They'll give you a number and will bring your order to you. The place was pretty full. We ordered the Crispy Pork Belly with rice and Crispy Pork Belly with Noodles. On my plate I added an egg on top for $2 bucks. It was amazingly delicious, spiced just right and ample serving for the price of $18 bucks. We also ordered a Crispy Spring Roll appetizer which had good flavor and a dipping sauce. We will definitely come back and try other plates.

Yelp
Came by for some takeout. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food was fresh and pretty good. I like I got to have brown rice without any extra cost, and boy was it really hearty brown rice. I got the tofu wit mixed vegetables. I liked the flavors and mix of veggies but would have liked just a few more veggies. I'd be fine even with just more filler cabbage or something. I will definitely come back to try more things in the future!

Yelp
The service was so so good. Very attentive, very nice and positive. The food was really good. The crab Rangoon plate comes with 4 pieces I believe. The Pad Thai dish ($12 at the time) was very filling and so delish I still had some leftovers I took home. Worth it, will definitely go again. The place felt very nice, cute, clean and cozy. Lots of Garfield memes! Saw a previous review from 6 months ago saying there was a strong chemical smell but I didn't notice any bad/chemical smell at all. Seems like the smell they were talking about was a one time thing or maybe they had just finished cleaning?

Yelp
The Chomp is an absolute hidden gem! So far I've tried the Khao Soi and Gra-Pow Moo Krob, and both dishes were an explosion of delightful flavors. The staff members were incredibly kind and attentive, providing exceptional service. I can't wait to come back to The Chomp again and again.

Yelp
I have been to this place multiple times since they open so I want to share my opinion incase you are hesitant to try this place out. First of all, I'm Thai so I'm excited to find a place that make Thai food like my parents cook for me in Thailand. You really can't go wrong with any dishes here. I tried new items every time I visited them. Fried rice are good. Basil with ground pork excellent, and if you like yellow curry you have to try it here! Besides a delicious food, service here is phenomenal as well! Brooklyn neighbors are so lucky to have this authentic Thai place around.

Yelp
Delicious. Positively yummy. The crispy pork belly with egg noodles is my go to... seems I can't get enough. The restaurant is cute, clean, and the staff is super friendly. A great little place in the Brooklyn neighborhood :)

Yelp
The Pad Thai, Pad see eew and ribs were disappointing. The taste was not too good. I wanted to love the food. Unfortunately I couldn't.

Yelp
As we walked in, a customer walking out told us "this is the hidden gem of Portland, get anything on the menu, you can't go wrong" After trying the Pad Thai, Pad see Ew, moo satay, and Thai tea, we agree, this place knows what they're doing. Portion sizes are slightly smaller than other Thai restaurants but the quality of food and the price makes it worth it!

Ava G.

Yelp
The employees were kind and supportive. The food was delicious, do keep in mind that Thai spices are powerful. Truly a hidden gem of Portland!

Yelp
The Chomp is awesome! A wonderful addition to the Portland dining scene. I loved the veggies with green curry. Excellent pad Thai and wide noodles as well. Salmon curry is amazing. Delicious pineapple fried rice. I recommend all the appetizers, especially the fresh spring rolls and the Thai samosas! Desserts are also super tasty. We love both sticky rice dishes - with mango and coconut. And they make amazing ice cream: coconut, Thai coffee, and Thai iced tea! And the people are super nice and friendly! You feel really welcome.

Tyler T.

Yelp
Best Thai Food Spot in Portland! My favorite is any fried rice and wings The Thai tea ice cream is delicious

Yelp
Wow, incredible quality, authentic Thai food. The owner was incredibly gracious and I am definitely coming back with my wife for more. I ordered the Tom Kah Soup and the donut for lunch! Yum!

Jeff K.

Yelp
The Chomp is a great new restaurant in the Brooklyn neighborhood. The flavors are bright and fresh, the menu includes classic standards along with unique dishes from northeastern Thailand, and the owners are beyond friendly and personable. I particularly enjoyed the Crab Thai Chowder and the Gra Pow was a revelation. I really appreciated that a vegetarian version is available for nearly every dish. I'll definitely be eating here regularly.

Jay C.

Yelp
Got a Pad Thai the peanuts added a perfect blend. Amazing service the owners a real nice guy. Guaranteed coming back, love the downstairs old school diner vibe. 10/10

Philip K.

Yelp
Quick friendly service was a plus, but the food was so so. Hardly any spice in the Pad Ke Mow or soup. Green papaya salad was overwhelmingly sweet.
google avatar

Logan S.

Yelp
This place is fire. Above average Thai food with good depth of flavor at good prices. It's my current go-to. The guys who runs it is friendly and the service is always on point. They're working hard; it's a new restaurant and well worth your patronage.

Yelp
Delicious food and lovely people! The drunken fried rice was very yummy! The vibe is so cool and unique inside the restaurant!

Yelp
Great addition to the Brooklyn neighborhood. Large selection of items and everything we had was delicious. The Crab Rangoon is a stand out. A very different flavor and it's super tasty. Can't wait to try more.

Thomas K.

Yelp
Great variety of Thai food. Service was exceptional and very helpful and pleasant. It was a little cold, and we need to keep extra clothes to stay warm, but didn't really mind

Talia S.

Yelp
Delicious food! We got the Chicken pad see ew and absolutely loved it. High quality ingredients and very well made. Thank you!
google avatar

Jake H.

Yelp
The friendliest place in town with killer flavors. I love the fried pork belly. The orange chicken is on point, as is the pad see ew - it's so fresh!! Be sure to finish with the donuts - they come with a condensed milk dipping sauce.

Yelp
We were planning on going to Botto's but it was packed and the vibes weren't it. Just so happened to find this place next door and I'm really happy we did! Staff was nice, clean and spacious dining area and the food was amazing! Actual spice and flavors. Gra-Pow over Rice & the Pad Thai were so good!

Cari H.

Yelp
Authentic dishes, amazing variety for such a small kitchen-Family chefs. Best Tom gum soup. Vegan, Vegetarian, seafood, noodle and curry dishes. Perfect -sized portions for one, but much better to share several dishes! Family-friendly. Dine-in. Takeout. Great flavors all around and very knowledgeable staff with good suggestions!! Wonderful neighborhood restaurant.
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
The Gra-pow over rice comes with a serrrano chili sauce that has the heat and flavors I desire but rarely find.

Linda P.

Yelp
Red curry was delicious and had some spice which I really enjoyed. Also highly recommend their crispy pork belly. Staff are lovely and really friendly. Overall, a great experience and we'll definitely be back!

John L.

Yelp
Thor (interesting name for a Thai guy) and his wife offer authentic and tasty food at this former breakfast venue. They do a lot of takeout, so the dining floor can appear deserted...don't let that keep you away. Excellent food; reasonable prices; nice variety. Bottom line? All good! Try it.

Nick G.

Yelp
I love this place! The food is so yummy and the owners are so friendly and welcoming. I recommend the cashew chicken and pad kee mao. Everything I have tried is full of flavor and delicious. Don't pass this place by!

Aiesha B.

Yelp
Amazing food, great ambiance and friendly service. This is going to be one of my go to spots.

Tan-bi K.

Yelp
Delicious food, above and beyond service, and a great playlist!! The Thai fried rice with tofu was especially good :)

Tracey H.

Yelp
Not sure how this place has such good reviews - maybe I just got the wrong dish. The Larb Kai Tod salad was half the plate full of food-service-in-a-bag nasty, cold breaded chicken with two slices of cucumber, two tomatoes and some dry romaine. The lime sauce tasted really good, but I paid $12 for some lettuce and chicken that I just couldn't eat. However, we did try the wings and those were stellar, as was the crab soup. Too bad the fried chicken on the salad wasn't the same as the wings. I'm so disappointed. I miss our old favorite Thai street food restaurant and was hoping for better. The people were friendly, but in order to make it in Portland, the food needs to be better. There's much better Thai to be had.
google avatar

Annie W.

Yelp
Loved this place. Was very happy with the dishes we ordered. Their Chicken Pad Thai noodles , cashew chicken & chicken wings were all outstanding. We'll definitely be back to try out their other dishes. Highly recommend this new place in the Brooklyn neighborhood.

Yelp
Amazing authentic Thai food. Lovely family that runs it. And it is vintage Marvel/superhero-themed which makes it even better.

Sarah C.

Yelp
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! The service, people, good food and vibes are perfect at The Chomp!! The coconut ice cream is top notch as a dessert after amazing dishes! SALAD ROLLS ARE ELITE AT THE CHOMP!!! We love the chicken wings, skewers, noodles and papaya salad! We eat at The Chomp multiple times a month and not ashamed of it at all!

Kate B.

Yelp
So glad to have Thai food in the neighborhood! On a +90° day, I couldn't bring myself to cook, so I placed an online order for pick up; Crab Rangoon and See Ew Noodle with chicken. In the notes for the See Ew, I asked if they could make it spicy and said, "like a 7 out of 10," and they nailed it, the exact spice level I was hoping for! The Crab Rangoon had a unique curry flavor and was perfectly cooked. While everything previously listed was enough to earn them 5 stars, the customer service sealed the deal. I arrived 5 minutes before my scheduled pick-up time of 7 pm and was told it would be just a few minutes; absolutely no issue as I'm in no rush. I take a seat, and the guy working there offers me some water while I wait (again, it's +90°). At 7:04, I'm handed my order, and the man gives me a Thai Ice Tea Ice Cream on the house as a 'thank you' for waiting. So kind and so appreciated! I had never had Thai Ice Tea Ice Cream, and man, is it good. It was flavorful and had the perfect level of sweetness. I will definitely be back.

Melissa B.

Yelp
I got the crab fried rice and it was Delicious!!! I'm so excited to have this place in the neighborhood. I will definitely be returning

Julia D.

Yelp
I just had their food last night and it was delicious. I ordered the pad Thai and crispy spring rolls. The portions are big enough for a leftover lunch and the prices are very reasonable. We did takeout and ordering on the app was quick and easy. The restaurant is super cute so I will definitely be back and will dine in next time.

Marj J.

Yelp
Delicious Complex flavors, nice space, gracious staff. Who could ask for more. We really enjoyed our first visit and will definitely return.

Ni W.

Yelp
Extremely cute and cozy place. Prices are pretty decent for Thai cuisine. Tasty food but I would say it was as more so fusion and not authentic Thai.

Hannah C.

Yelp
Very good food. Hit the spot. Great for kids and friendly and helpful staff. It's hard to figure out how to get into but it's worth the work.
