The 16 Best Restaurants In Nantucket 2024

"Smack dab in downtown Nantucket’s historic district, this rowdy piano bar has regular live entertainment and excellent piña coladas. Open for brunch and dinner, you’ll find a well-executed seafood-focused menu with plates that you’ll want to share, like steamed mussels with root vegetable chips, crab cake swimming in beurre blanc, and grilled octopus with zucchini fritters. This is where everyone on the island goes to drink, snack a little, and sing along in a club car from the original Nantucket railroad." - tanya edwards

13 Best Bars on Nantucket | Eater Boston

"This longtime Nantucket institution underwent a complete revamp in 2017 when it reopened under new ownership. Set apart from the retro dining room, the marble-topped bar runs the length of the historic train car that gives the restaurant its name. Like the space, the cocktail menu is funky and playful, with unique takes on classics like the paloma (containing two tequilas and grapefruit three ways), and the Aperol spritz (made with, among other ingredients, pickled kumquats). The famous piano is still there, and as the bar fills up, patrons will inevitably start singing along. Reservations can be made up to two months in advance online or by calling the restaurant directly." - Katie Faust Stryjewski

Google
Easily the best meal of our honeymoon. We stopped here for late lunch one afternoon and had one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I dream about their mussels and bread. The service was impeccable and our waiter made our dining experience even better, he even made us complimentary cocktails as we don’t drink and it just made the day. The atmosphere is great, a little hint of vintage 1920s cocktail art deco vibe. You must eat here. It’s fabulous.

Google
So glad to be back at Club Car this summer! The vibe is always great, but I’m especially happy to see Andre back at the door — he’s the best. Keeps things smooth and welcoming. And huge shoutout to Mikey behind the bar; always friendly, fast, and mixing great drinks. Can’t wait for more nights here this season!

Google
Had an awesome night at The Club Car! So happy to see Andre back at the door—he always brings the best vibe. Great energy all around. Definitely looking forward to coming back later this summer.

Google
This was a really fun place! We only got drinks but they have a whole separate section for food. The drink was really yummy and it was fairly priced.

Google
So much fun being at club car! So nice to see Andre’s back because he’s my favorite bouncer on island — keeps the good vibes going and is so welcoming. Club car also has the best bartenders, they were so accommodating when I asked for mocktails & Mikey made me one of the best mocktails ever!!! Definitely recommend checking out Club Car

Google
What an absolute disappointment. Half empty restaurant, and the service and food was awful. The soup starter and bread was very good. But the filet, which I heard was a standout, came out twice overcooked and with a crust that tasted like burnt char. Our waitress failed to notify a manager, leading me to have to go up to the host stand to ask about where the recooked meal was, as my wife was almost done with hers. The waitress failed to come back and refill waters or apologize for the kitchen’s mistake. The manager comped the one bad steak, but frankly, should have comped the meal. It was anything but a good experience. They did offer dessert, which we declined. We ate at a host of tremendous restaurants during our week on the island, and this was the only bad one.

Google
Club car is an experience that everyone should have when visiting Nantucket. Its a Restaurant with a train cabin car attached to it , set up as a Bar . The Bar is very popular at night for late night cocktails and live music , although its Raucous and hard to get near the musician but the sing along is fun . The food we ordered was ok . The Scallops were the best meal of 6 that we ordered. The Waitress was just amazing , very pleasant , informative and helpful.

Sue Zibelli

Google
An excellent choice when on Nantucket. Right in the heart of town. A simple menu that has something for everyone. The lobster-corn chowder was excellent, as was the halibut.

Yelp
I've been wanting to go to club car for quite some time went on island. That finally happened this September! I know that club car is under new ownership and I thought it was outstanding! We had great service in the bar area and in the dining! I definitely think you need to add this to your Nantucket dining list on island. If you want to get a seat at the bar, and you have a group you may need to go pretty early, before five. So you can sit together. Reservations can also be made on Resy for the dining area Highly recommend and will be back!

Yelp
For the cost, the food was so so. Also, I asked for a WhistlePig 10year. Distinctive rye whisky. It was not what was brought to me. I said as much to our server and she said I was wrong. Not liking that at all.

Yelp
An institution in Nantucket - I bet this place has been there for 50+ years. It features prominently in all of Elon Hilderbrand books too - so fun to try. I like the railway car bar - but boy oh boy - get ready to SPEND $$'s 3 drinks here was $75 including tip.

Yelp
Food was great, ambulance was amazing. We appreciated the wait staff and everyone was so great

Yelp
Cute spot that we swung for a beverage! Located conveniently in the Main Street area on the main drag. Employees were welcoming and efficient. They do have food, however we already had plans to have lunch somewhere else. We could t pass up checking out this cute pace though! Enjoy!

Seth R.

Yelp
The ambience is amazing. The food is so so you're not going there for the food. The service is pretty bad but when the piano is playing, it's a great vibe

Yelp
Very mature restaurant for the older folks on Nantucket who want to imbibe and have a few standards for dinner. It's essentially a reconverted club car located in the middle of the city. It's been around forever. Kids are strongly discouraged. 20 years ago we showed up with our 9 and 16 year olds who insisted on pasta with butter. They charged us $70 for the pasta. I don't blame the owner. They cater to the older set and now that I am in that demographic it feels great. The swordfish and steak are especially good.

Katherine S.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible experience. Can't even speak to the quality of the food because we had to leave shortly after we were seated. A staff member came running towards our table and yanked a fork out of my toddlers hand because it gently scraped the table. When we explained that we were offended by her behavior, she doubled down and said she was protecting the restaurant property instead of apologizing. We felt uncomfortable dining there and politely left in the quest for a more kid friendly establishment. After we left there was a nice local woman outside who noticed we were visibly upset and reported similar experiences with the staff after the management changed. Later ran into another group who were seated near us and they were also appalled by the way we were treated.

Jessica H.

Yelp
the change over is horrible. The food is terrible, the halibut with risotto was tasteless with no seasoning or salt or pepper. The salads were overly dense and overpriced. everything was overpriced and we were very disappointed. the music choices were horrible to go with the gross over priced food. The burger was mediocre. I no longer recommend the club car in nantucket since the redesign and redecoration. The bar extension moved the the dining room is horrible. it used to be such an institution in nantucket and it was so disappointing. i do not recommend to anyone there are so many other great restaurants with great food on the isalnd

Yelp
We stopped in for drinks and managed to snag a small cocktail table in the bar area without a reservation, which seems like a feat in Nantucket during season. Our cocktails were delicious, our server was friendly, and decor was lovely. Although we didn't dine here, the menu looked great. I'd love to try it if we someday return here.

Yelp
So happy we visited this adorable renovated ACK classic bar and restaurant. Incredible service, great drinks and food. We loved the mushroom shawarma - so flavorful and vegetarian friendly. The warm stuffed dates are also to die for.
google avatar

Yelp
Over priced, loud obnoxious music. My 26.00 soup was cold twice. One scallop!!! Save your money
google avatar

Madeline C.

Yelp
the only thing i would come back for is the octopus appetizer. every component of the dish seemed perfected. the potatoes were well chopped in roasted pieces and the octopus was slightly saltier for my taste but cooked perfectly. the sauce underneath tasted almost pickly. everything was just good but i didn't like the lamb dish but my mom and sister did. the cabbage and lamb tasted like nothing the scallop dish was pretty balanced but not showstopping. scallops buttery: lemony and the grilled tomatoes were abundant. good green beans pair nicely with the scallops will say they gave more scallops than i expected. the halibut was dry but my sister didn't think it was. i wish they said to cut the top fried part because my mom didn't realize till half way thru the meal that it was to go over the whole dish. the risotto had good flavor but again the dish as a whole didn't seem like something i would get again. we finished the meal off with the lemon and strawberry cake. it was a tad on the dry side but the flavor of both lemon and strawberry was great and balanced each other/ not overpowering

Yelp
We went for brunch and enjoyed the cocktails! The BLT was delicious. Fries were delicious. The duck confit salad and the burger was also enjoyed by others in my party.

B C.

Yelp
Stopped in here while waiting for our ferry ride. Nice restaurant, friendly staff, but a very limited lunch menu. We both had the lobster roll that came with fries. For $103 (included tip), I expected more. They only had the cold lobster roll. For $38/roll it was a very small portion of not a lot of chopped lobster with celery and mayo. Fries were good though...crispy. And iced tea tasted like instant. Wouldn't go back.

Yelp
It is hard to say what was worse, the food, the service, or the price, as all was horrible. The host and our server were ambivalent at best, but seemed more annoyed than anything. The food was tasteless, cold, and uninspired. Then we got the bill- oh my! We certainly will not be eating or drinking here again! You

Yelp
I was on my way to see a friend and sachayed by this little pub. I dropped in to get directions and fell victim to its unique charms.

Yelp
If you want amazing service and food go here. Michael is sooooo nice and is overly generous. We had a horrible start to our last night in ACK and when we showed up he gave us a MEMORABLE night. Very grateful.
google avatar

Mike W.

Yelp
I stopped in with the family for brunch having never heard of Club Car. My wife said before we ordered that we should have just found a cheap place to get a burger. I told her I know it is expensive but we are already seated so let's just enjoy a nice meal. When the meal was finished all five of us were very pleased we didn't go for the cheap burger! It was well worth the money! The egg sandwich was everything I could have wanted. We will definitely go back again
google avatar

Lindsay D.

Yelp
Wish I could've taken a picture but, I ate it so fast! Grilled oysters were delicious! Caesar salad very good, clam chowder a little bacon forward but good and the fries are amazing! Must try if you're ever on the island.

T S.

Yelp
Had Thursday night drinks and light dinner in the bar. Food was good, though the crab cakes were very creamy. Burrata was quite large. Noise level in the bar is unbearable after very few minutes; friends have said it is similarly loud in the dining area. The acoustics of the old rail car bar area are awful, so skip this place if you wish to hear your companion[s] or the bartender. Also, $24 for a standard cocktail is uncalled for - even on pricey Nantucket.
google avatar

Sam L.

Yelp
Probably the best overall restaurant we went to while in Nantucket!! Very cool atmosphere and decor here - especially with the club car bar attached! Staff were attentive and friendly as well! Only bad thing about it was that they ran out of black truffle for the truffle pasta dish! Was nice of them to give a discount though not sure if worth only $6. Regardless, still tasted very much like black truffle as it was mixed in the pasta sauce itself - might have actually been overwhelming with extra truffle on top. I highly recommend getting that for your entree! Clams were really good appetizer as well! Definitely come here!
google avatar

Epicureo P.

Yelp
Spectacular, the chef cooks with love! Food is intriguing and surprisingly curated with unexpected details.
google avatar

Yelp
Burrata and corn salad will change your life. How can something be seemingly simple and yet have so much flavor and depth. We'll that can be said for all the dishes here. Every single plate was delicious! Our waitstaff was also wonderful!
google avatar

Jay O.

Yelp
Way overpriced. 50. For a pasta dish. No bread. 5.00 for toast though. Poor wait service. Limited menu. Snotty management. Avoid!
google avatar

Yelp
Didn't come here to eat, we went to the bar area in August and it was a small but nice atmosphere. But the service from the blonde woman bartender was AWFUL it completely ruined our experience. She was the rudest person I have ever met. When we ordered drinks she looked at us like we were insane and shouldn't be ordering or something. She was almost yelling at us. When you're trying to have a fun time with friends, this horrible attitude really ruins things.

Yelp
This is the new version of Club Car....no lobster rolls here......vegetables and fish are the stars here. The chef is so creative. We stayed a week on Nantucket and ate here 3 nights. We could not get enough. I am still dreaming about the food. The crostini w/ sardines and jamon Iberico.....the beet, carrot salad w/ dukkah and labneh....the roasted cod....all delicious and memorable. Another night we had lamb skewers w/ chimichurri and pea pesto crostini w/ walnuts. Great cocktails and Yeva and Teddy were fabulous hosts. and if you still want a nice piano bar with a fun crowd, you can have that to! Such a special place.
google avatar

Yelp
I love this place! Food, drinks, staff - everything is amazing!! By far one of my favorite restaurants on the island.

Sal N.

Yelp
Having arrived in Nantucket for a long weekend my party and I stopped at the Clubcar for a bite at the bar and a drink. the time was approx 5.30pm. the resturant was starting to fill up but the bar crowd was half full. Upon arrival we pitched up at the bar only to ignored by the wait staff consisting of 2 make bartenders and female bus person. there was much conversation occurring between the staff and various customers who appeared to have been around sone time.. while I waited to order I observed at least 3 shots of alcohol being consumed by the stay in a 15 minute period. when I finally did order the staff was rude, curt and dismissive. When I paid the bill I left no tip and then was aggressively question by on of the bar tenders as to why. when I explained why he told me he was happy my party was leaving and don't come back. Atrocious behavior and that bartender will get his wish. we will not return. Drunk staff is not a good look for any establishment.
google avatar

Yelp
Popped in for a pre-dinner drink and ended up having the skillet shrimp app and a couple of drinks. The skillet shrimp was amazing! The drinks were strong but tasty. Our waitress, Kim, was great too! She made sure we were taken care of. Thanks Kim! Highly recommend stopping in.

Ryan P.

Yelp
Was having a nice romantic night with the wife, went to club car and bouncer picked a fight with me because he thought he saw me vaping inside, which was false. Hostess accused my wife of being underage, woman checked her ID and said "idk if this is real or not but I don't care". Very unprofessional. One bouncer was cool, other was completely disrespectful. Kept telling me to shut the f up. Had fun at first but angry bouncer ruined experience.

Sandy K.

Yelp
We had a great time here. Delicious food and drinks. Service was a bit slow but definitely will give it another chance.
google avatar

Nancy G.

Yelp
We had dinner here tonight. Two of us had the black truffle tagliatelle which was so lemony is was difficult to enjoy. The pasta was very thick, very little fresh shaved truffles and not what we expected at all. My husband had the duck which was better. Definitely not the experience we had anticipated.
google avatar

Lucy D.

Yelp
Tough critic here and must be honest about my experience and preferences for ACK dining. I'll start with the food which was very good- my complaint on the food was the amount of salt used to prepare. If you are on a low salt diet, be forewarned. Drinks were okay, wine list was good and service was average. This is a true tastings experience, don't come hungry unless you want to drop 100 bucks per person on small plates. The noise and music were not indicative of any ACK dining experience I've had to date. Very loud hip music and the crowd was just as loud. The interesting thing is that the restaurant was only half full. The atmosphere is my primary reason for dropping to three stars. I felt like I was back in my midtown manhattan territory which is not relaxing in my humble opinion. Not on my list of return spots and really can't recommend to my friends on the island.
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
Atmosphere was fantastic as was the service!!! We did not stay to eat dinner but I am sure that would have also been fantastic!

Sandra S.

Yelp
Good food. Nice menu options. Great ambiance, but a little pricey. The waitstaff was pretty good, but failed to provide an answer to a question that we had about the menu... she was going to check with the chef and never gave us a response. We let it go and went with the offerings, as they were.

Yelp
The Good: :: did you love that show "wings" as much as i did? i doubt that. the show features a bar called the club car, so naturally i HAD to come here. :: the bar is cute. it's an old train club car and it's a tiny but awesome bar to grab a drink :: there's seating at the bar and by the car windows :: drinks were reasonably priced :: great place to grab a drink by yourself and just chill out The Bad: :: did i mention it's tiny? definitely not good for large crowds. this is where you want to go when you are with 1, MAYBE 2, other people. tops. :: only 1 bathroom per sex. the bathrooms are tiny, too The Ugly: :: none Would I go back? Yes! Most definitely. I love how it's a tiny little bar and hello, it's a club car! And hello, it's from "Wings"!!! Maybe I'll run into Joe, Helen, Brian, or Antonio next time...? This place is IN.
google avatar

Sarah P.

Yelp
This place is not worth the hype at all. They were out of everything we ordered and then when we got the food we did order it wasn't any good.

Lana J.

Yelp
This was our favorite meal in Nantucket. The service was superb, the atmosphere and decor were fabulous, and the food was delicious! Pricey, but worth it. It was nice that we could walk right into the piano bar and enjoy the rest of our night after dinner.
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
When my wife and I find a sitter and have a night out to catch up during out busy lives, we choose the The Club Car. And we always choose "For the Adventurous..." and let Mayumi (executive chef) and her team to choose what we will be eating that night. That's a lot of trust right there, but it doesn't matter when every single item on the menu is so good and so healthy. Be adventurous, and choose this for your dinner. We always sit in the cool little bar area called the jungle, best date night spot ever! Atmosphere, customer service, and food are all 5 stars.
google avatar

Jeff F.

Yelp
One of the best meals I had on Nantucket this past week. Here's what made the shortlist: - Tomato/artichoke arancini - Jamon Toast - really good, but at $12 for a slice of bread even by Nantucket standards, a bit high - Whole Fish - excellent - Smashed Gigante Beans - surprisingly amazing - Olives Only average item was the Lamb Pincho
google avatar

Riley S.

Yelp
We had the chance to enjoy brunch here last summer and it was fantastic - the eggs, China seed pudding and coffee were very memorable. We recently visited for dinner and it was equally impressive- the highlight was the mushroom toast which literally melts in your mouth. The tomato, peach, straciatella dish was exceptional as well. The interior is beautifully decorated and makes for a romantic, fun dinner- we will certainly be back
google avatar

Nick A.

Yelp
The new revamped club car serves the best food on Nantucket right now. We went twice last week. I know you old school islanders miss the dark bar and lobster roll. Time to move on. The food now is so much better and worth every cent. Eat there and you'll understand.

Kate T.

Yelp
Delicious meal in the courtyard last night! Excellent service from Michael who made sure we were all well cared for and made thoughtful suggestions about the menu and wine list! We loved the Brussels Sprouts and Truffle Pappardelle as well as the corn salad. With piano man playing inside, and the off key singing of bar goers, it was dinner and a show!
google avatar

Timothy J.

Yelp
Best restaurant in town! Friendly, professional, and informative staff! They really strive for customer's satisfaction. How? They check up on you not only to see if you need anything else but they keep the timing right when food should come out. Food is all fresh and sourced locally. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Some favorites are ... -MUSHROOM TOAST - each bite has a burst of flavor with huge chunks of mushroom, they do not skimp out! - SEARED REDFISH - FIRE - Roasted Cauliflower - Flames - Roasted Half Chicken - Juicy - Shrimp al la plancha - Poppin' - Duck Confit Salad - Bangin' - Skirt Steak - to die for - Roasted Broccolini - on point I might as well list the whole menu... always look forward to coming here. I am never afraid to binge eat because the food is so healthy. Bloating never happens after an hour as I digest.

Yelp
What a cool spot! Half dark and interesting caboose, half bright and airy restaurant, one hundred percent cool restaurant and bar. The caboose was one of the places where you look at the backbar and just have a good feeling - and the Montenegro spritz didn't disappoint! I also had a great cranberry cocktail and an island-exclusive Cisco ipa. For brunch, a hearty shakshouka and coffee served in the most ridiculously cute china teacup I've ever seen. It was a little cliquey, but otherwise a great spot to enjoy my afternoon listening to the wild rain pounding the windows and cobbled streets.

Yelp
Our party called a few days ahead of time to make a reservation for cocktails ONLY, clearly stated, and also said that later in the night was fine with us. We were told 9:00 was good. We showed up five minutes early; our table wasn't ready, but that's fine. We check in a few more times; we were finally seated at 9:17, and only after my 60 year old husband accompanied the young lady of our party who had made the reservation and who was asking about our status. After seating us, we were then informed that the restaurant policy was that reservations were only for dinner guests on Friday nights in August, not cocktail seatings; we really should order food, but they would make an exception for us. REALLY?!? If that's the restaurant policy, then that needs to be clearly communicated to ALL of the staff so that we can make APPROPRIATE reservations! And aren't cocktails where the real profit is anyway? Yeesh! What's more, when we actually did order some food after all, they were out of one of the items! Maybe because it was already so late in the evening! So, two stars because the food we did receive and the cocktails were really very good and our actual server was fine, but the management attitude needs some serious adjustment. We tried to do the right thing, but......

Yelp
Club car (a Nantucket staple) was historically more traditional cuisine and a bit higher end. I was surprised to see that it is now a more casual California / Mexican restaurant. After some more research, it seems this transition happened a few years ago. I'm betting a lot of the appeal here is the late night bar scene (which isn't happening this year because of covid). Dinner was good-margaritas were excellent, guacamole was super fresh and flavorful. Quesadillas also good (not as good as Millie's though). It was all just a bit odd. The menu is super small (only 2 quesadilla types, 2 entrees, and maybe 3 taco types.) seemingly no desert menu at all (they just brought us the bill unprompted as we were finishing our mains. Was surprised, for example that there was no steak quesadilla, shrimp quesadilla, or lobster quesadilla options on the menu. Club cars menu is seriously around 1/5th the size of Millie's. Setting is great, especially if you can sit outside or in the old rail car itself. Service was friendly and attentive, which is a rarity for the island.

Yelp
I loved the salad we ordered with beets and carrots!! The dates and almond butter were also delicious but a bit too sweet for my tastes.
