Will Frosé Take Over Lowcountry Beaches This Summer? - Eater Carolinas

"The Co-Op on Sullivan’s Island released a CBD-infused frosé and a frozen rosé in a portable container. The cafe offers the Frosé to go pouch, a convenient way to enjoy the beverage. Despite the alcohol ban on the beach, the frozen nature of the beverage allows it to be sold as food, exploiting a loophole in Charleston's regulations." - Erin Perkins

Google
First visit to the Island COOP. Love the vibes, the simple yet refined basic sandwiches and spreads. Had the Sausage Egg on Kaiser + Healthy Mediterranean Egg on Humus. Both were really really good. 👍

Google
Awesome place to eat and grab frosé! The prickly pear frosé was fantastic! Also ate the Cubano sandwich and highly recommend. Atmosphere is off the charts and extremely friendly service.

Google
The Hungry Detective and Special Agent Deirdre AKA: The Queen Bee Keeper of Sullivans Island had the best SUP, bike ride and home grown sandwiches and Frose at the Co-Op on Sullivan’s!!! Atmosphere: I love pink and so does the owner obviously with awesome “Don’t be an asshole” T-shirts and of course there is some pink ones… Food: Next level sandwiches and outside the box drinks…pickle beer traveler for the beach is a must!!! VERDICT: Guilty as charged for having the right vibe and food to back it up!!! This place rocks and is so unique…”Shake it off and check it out before a day at the beach or in the morning for an awesome cup of joe☕️☕️☕️

Google
The Co-Op is a quick little stop-in sandwich shop and a great feature of Sullivan’s Island. I think I ordered a California Turkey and I really enjoyed it! The sauce on the sandwich was especially delicious. There are a couple of indoor tables to eat at and the service is pretty quick. The only downside was that I couldn’t find a lot of convenient parking.

Google
First visit to The Co-Op. it just so happened to be the day for the Polar Plunge so it was busy. I found a seat while my husband ordered two coffees, a salad with just about everything you can imagine & a sandwich with salmon, we requested a bagel instead of the Kaiser roll. We were starving & devoured it all! No complaints. Tasty food, nice people & atmosphere. Enjoy! Josephine Local Guide

Google
First visit. For breakfast sandwich and coffee. I wasn’t vowed but I have heard great things about this place so I will be back again to try more things. I had the avocado toast and it was just ok.

Google
Jess and all supporting staff are amazing. Customer service is excellent and if a mistake is (rarely) made they go above and beyond to fix it! I’ve never had a less than 5 star experience here, and same thing goes for the food and drinks. Me and my mom love to come here at the start of a beach day to make sure we start it off on a good note 🩷🦩

Google
Co-op is an institution in chuck. Been going for years, always dependable, delicious, and on demand. Not exactly the best of the best food, or best of the best ambiance, etc - but Co-Op is in a fantastic location and just always delivers. For that “X” factor it gets a bonus point for 5 out of 5. The california turkey with the sprouts, avo, bacon, etc - chefs kiss. The eggs sandwiches good, everything is good! If you are on Sullivan’s - beach or not - worth going time and time again. And of course…try the froze’

Yelp
Who doesn't love an amazing sandwich with a side of Frosé? Always my favorite for breakfast avocado toast, ask them to add bacon. Or the Master's Egg Salad Sandwich and for Frosé I always get the special flavor of the day!
google avatar

Tammy E.

Yelp
Different breakfast sandwiches to choose from. They were having an issue with regular coffee . ( Yikes we need our cup of Joe ) Order at counter no table service . Taylor Swift playing over the speakers ... yes at 9:00 am she was belting out Karma!!! Windows and doors open so that salt air flows right in.
google avatar

Yelp
The co-op is an upbeat deli with a convenient location perfect for Sullivan's Island beach goers. We thought that it took an excessively long time to prepare a simple chicken salad sandwich and Greek salad with chicken only to find out that the chicken was deli chicken. Sad to say, I had a salad similar at Publix last week, so the salad was a bit of a let down. The chicken salad sandwich was hearty with a strong dill taste. The packaging of both items we ordered was sturdy. The food traveled well for the beach. They offered samples of their frose which was fun.
google avatar

Sam H.

Yelp
The perfect snack for the beach. Got two sandwiches and a cold brew coffee - all of which did not disappoint. Toppings on the sandwiches were a perfect touch. Well priced. Will be back.

Yelp
So So good. Staff were very friendly. Food was so good and quick. Decor was so fun and frose seemed to be a big hit!

Yelp
This place had me at Frosé but the food, merch and service is 5 star review worthy! If I'm honest there were so many cute items available that our quick stop turned into a full on experience. Not only was my blood orange frosé excellent it paired perfectly with the Caprese sandwich I decided to order last minute and I'm so thankful I did because that sourdough bread was magic. Take it from a San Francisco girl who knows her sourdough do not pass up on the opportunity to try it. My only regret was not buying the stickers I saw after I checked out

Yelp
I am not typically a huge fan of pink... but this place is so cute and pink I had to go inside. Parked outside are pink branded vespas (maybe) and golf carts. You can get boozy flavored frozes (insert accent) or frozen flavored lemonades. There is a grab and go fridge section or you can order off the menu. Ordered the California Turkey, a frozen lemonade + headed to the beach to enjoy the day. Deliciously fresh + refreshing. The Frozen Strawberry lemonade stayed frozen for over an hour, I was pretty surprised. The Sammie was fantastic + I am a sucker for sprouts on a sandwhich. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
The food was delicious!! I will be thinking about this sandwich for months to come. However, the service left some to be desired. The servers were not very friendly, and acted very unkind to my friends and I. Me and a friend got our sandwiches on gluten-free bread and a couple of my other friends did not and they would not label which one was mine nor would they tell us. So we had to look and find out for ourselves and mark them ourselves in the restaurant. luckily I am not celiac so this did not cause a big problem. However, this could cause a big problem for someone in the future.

Yelp
My sis and I needed a cooldown after the beach plus been meaning to venture out to try the famous frozen rosé treat! They offer some lunch options as well but we were in the mood to try the frosé. The lines were long, but moved swiftly, plus our order came out fast due to just being the drinks. I was impressed how strong they were! I've had frozen boozy drinks before that didn't do much for me but these had me feeling as fine as wine afterwards hehe love the pinkness of Co-Op, huge fan of all things girly!

Yelp
I got the California turkey sandwich. It was excellent. I love that it has sprouts on it. The bacon was crispy and delicious. The service was fast and it's a cute little place close to the beach with a relaxed feel. We got out food to go and it was all packed up cute. I also tried the frose. It was good but I wasn't overly blown away by it.
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
The co-op is a delightful, laid-back eatery featuring multiple frose flavors and filling sandwiches. You can even got plastic bottles to take with you! I opted for a frose flight and thoroughly enjoyed the sampling. Great spot to pop over to from the nearby beach!
google avatar

Jason J.

Yelp
We stopped in for a quick bite and we split a turkey avocado with bacon sandwich. The sandwich and service were all good.
google avatar

Lurine J.

Yelp
Very cute place to eat the young ladies behind the counter were happy to answer any questions. They did a great job keeping all the patrons moving in the line. My hubby and I landed on the chicken avocado club sandwich. It was really good. We were able to split a sandwich and still we're both satisfied as the sandwich was large, and the portions of poultry on the sandwich were very generous. This place is cute and right on the beach strip would highly recommend. We also enjoyed some of the chips they had mustard, barbecue flavor was something different that neither one of us had ever had, but will definitely be looking for again.

Yelp
Fun flights of Frosé! Great sandwiches and wraps. The perfect mid day spot for lunch!
google avatar

Felicity S.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to get sandwiches and the California Turkey is my go to! Being from Southern California, I can vouch this tastes like home. Great place to grab a quick bite and hangout down at the beach. Parking is always difficult so I suggest ordering ahead of time or be prepared to drive around for a bit. Of course the Froze is a must try!
google avatar

Maria-Elena T.

Yelp
Split the California Turkey with a friend. The turkey was not evenly spread out on mine but was on my friend's. Bacon not crispy enough. Loved the Bloody Mary potato chips. The prickly pear froze as awesome. Service good. Would come back here again.
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
NOTE there is a free coffee with Yelp Check in. We came here for a quick-ish lunch. You order at the counter and they call your name. We got a couple of sandwiches to split and a froze flight to try - then we ordered the ones we liked best (Key lime froze for me). I split the California turkey sandwich - no sprouts. Is everyone aware that sprouts are a huge e-coli problem? - I NEVER touch 'em: read more on that here: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/sprouts-e-coli-risk_b_875103 Another gal got the Italian sandwich - I tried it - but preferred mine. Lots of Instagrammable moments here - a grassy neon wall, a pink Jeep and pink scooter parked outside for photos. The star of the show though - was these Bloody Mary flavored potato chips. we looked for them in grocery stores - but never found them.

Yelp
We just moved to the area and this spot came highly recommended by locals. Such a fun vibe with good energy. There was a little line but it moved quickly. I got the Frosé flight and chose the OG Strawberry, Prickly Pear, Peach, and Blackberry. The Blackberry was my fave! The food was amazing. My husband and I split the Cubano sandwich and the Greek salad- both were delicious. Can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
I can be a sandwich snob, but the sandwiches at The Co-Op were great. I got The Italian and my wife got the Caprese. We were both happy with them. The Italian had pretty high quality meats, and it was grilled panini-style on a mild but delicious sourdough. The meat/cheese/bread ratio was right, and the portion wasn't quite overwhelming but was easily enough for a satisfying meal. The Italian is $10. One could hope to find the rare place with a better deal, but that's a very acceptable price for a solid sandwich on good bread with plenty of quality meat. They market themselves on their Frosé. They have plain Frosé and Frosés with a variety of flavor syrups incorporated. I tried the piña colada variety, and it was worth ordering. The vibe inside is casual, a bit irreverent, and fun. There's a frose selfie wall. There are a few fun wall murals, including a large one (unfortunately not pictured) that's an intricate play on the movie Mean Girls. Their location is also walkable to/from the beach, which could be a big plus if that's why you're in the area. For a beach town sandwich and frose, I solidly recommend The Co-Op.
google avatar

Sally J.

Yelp
Soooo damn good. Hit the spot. I'll def be thinking about this sandwich a lot until I can come get it again. It kinda sucks it's so good because now I feel like I have no inclination to stray away to any other menu items. Great vibe too
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in yesterday on a whim after seeing people post about The Co-Op on TikTok. Super glad we did. Cheapest meal we've eaten in CHS all week and also one of the yummier breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. I'd drive back from downtown just for another frosé. We ate the sandwiches up so quick we didn't get a photo.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been visiting the Co-Op's multiple locations in the Charleston area for a few years now. They continue to deliver on quality at every turn. Yes, they are sometimes quite busy and the wait is a little longer, but that just speaks to their popularity. It makes me happy to see them succeed and know that they will continue to be a fixture in the community. I love this local spot and look forward to my next visit. Delicious!
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
Loved Co-Op!! Known for their frosé, this place is super cute and trendy! The place looked recently opened so there were still boxes out but there were still plenty of spots open, inside and outside, to eat and enjoy drinking. There was even a live band playing. First, the staff was super friendly and fun to chat with. It was super nice of them to allow us to eat our take out food while we drank our frosé (originally planned on eating at the beach but it was super windy that day). The frosé flight, which was $8, included four flavors that you could choose. Although there were only four flavors to choose from, you can still double up on your favorite flavor. They added some funny looking gummy on top of some of the cups, which added a funny touch to our experience here! Grab a flight or a bottle before hitting the beach!

Morgan O.

Yelp
ordered in advanced and got there and my food wasn't ready because they didn't have what I ordered available anymore. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and it came with none of the other ingredients on it I did not get a refund if my order that I paid for to get back the difference. it wasn't busy but no one was attended to. The tap coffee was out of coffee. Overall this was ridiculous. None of the employees knew how to work the store or even speak to people. The person in the front taking to go orders was speaking to herself.
google avatar

Brandon P.

Yelp
Came in just for some of the frose after dinner (didn't try the other meal items). The atmosphere is great! Bright colors and full of fun with the pink, wall paintings and frose wall. We had the frose sampler which was delicious, I enjoyed the dragon fruit and grapefruit frose more than I expected. Service and the employees were great as well. A surprisingly fun post dinner stop!
google avatar

Kaitlyn C.

Yelp
Such a cute spot to stop by after a long day at the beach. The froze flight is $12 and drip coffee is $1!! The mimosa and classic (strawberry) were the best flavors in the flight then cucumber watermelon and chipotle pineapple that had a little bite at the end. They were more tart than sweet, which is what I prefer, so this place was perfect to end the day!
google avatar

Alli G.

Yelp
We heard about this place through word of mouth and through articles we read. It was good. We got the strawberry Frosé. It was okay. I was expecting more of a strawberry taste, but it was more flat. This was my first time and the worker said it was the original flavor. What was really good was the Veggie sandwich. We got it to go and ate it on the beach. It was yummy. Whole wheat bread, cucumbers, bean sprouts, onion with a creamy spread that was perfect! It probably had more ingredients but I don't know what they were. I had half and my daughter had the other half. It was filling and the perfect amount!

Jennifer E.

Yelp
We did the frose flight and it was super yummy! It was so cute and the service was amazing! Maddy was super sweet! I would definitely go back again and again!
google avatar

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
We had a couple of ok sandwiches - a chicken salad on toasted wheat and a cowboy chicken sandwich, 2 bags of Low Country chips and 2 iced teas (not bottled- simple home-brewed) and the total was over $36. At a casual walk-up counter for small, basic sandwiches, that's high. The sandwiches were fine but nothing to write home about and I think we may have been been overcharged... at any rate, there is also a cup that encourages tips by saying "don't be an asshole..." I enjoy tipping but that's a serious turnoff- particularly when I'm not being served. I put a few dollars in the obnoxious jar but I'm pretty sure Reddit readers would quickly determine in an AITA post exactly who the AH is and nope- it's not the customer. Will skip this spot in the future.
google avatar

Ella M.

Yelp
Cute spot with different flavored frozé drinks. Didn't have food there but it's a very cute summer spot. Beautiful pink Moke and a pink Vespa parked right outside! Who doesn't love pink everything!
google avatar

Kelli R.

Yelp
This is the best local and vacation spot. The food and drinks are amazing! It is an island staple that I wish I had in my home town. Don't miss stopping here on your way to the beach!
google avatar

Haley S.

Yelp
In terms of flavor, these frosés are amazing. I tried both the grapefruit and the strawberry. I was bummed that they only offered 16oz drinks in these to go plastic bottles. I much prefer to drink from a nice glass. Just cheapened the experience, and it melted so fast that the icy part separated from the rosé/flavors quickly. I felt like I had to drink it fast or I'd be drinking syrup. Next time I would bring my own little yeti wine glass to pour it in and keep it from melting! I will go back. I want to try their food. I love that they are open for breakfast. And I have to have their chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches. They were out last time, so they must be good!
google avatar

Jeff W.

Yelp
Stay away from the breakfast burrito man that was disappointing and terrible. Head over to vintage coffee instead in Mt. P. Yes it's a more expensive burrito over there but it's a quality burrito. This one almost seemed like it was slapped together by a really young kid. Very small burrito with barely anything to it on the inside and almost felt like it was a panini as in the burrito was pressed down on a machine.
google avatar

Alexa W.

Yelp
Awesome sandwich & Frosé concept, but super long line on a Saturday. Also great coffee!
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
This place is soooo amazing! Everything is pink and themed (great photo ops) they even have a golf cart out front which is adorable. The froze is also such a great deal. They're pretty strong (which I love) and 1 will get you buzzing haha. It's a great place to meet up with people or to grab a bite before or after the beach!
google avatar

Erika W.

Yelp
I've been following The Co-Op's Instagram for a long time now (it's priceless...go follow), but just recently made my first visit. My youngest and I stopped in on a Monday morning around 11:30 am. There were a couple of people ahead of us but we were greeted as soon as we walked in and my order was taken not long after that. I already knew what I wanted to try but they have a giant menu up on the wall. I got the California Turkey to go. It was so good. I'm drooling right now thinking about it lol must go back soon. Also if you can't find parking there is a public lot behind the building. Just turn left on the street right before the building and it's straight ahead.

Austin H.

Yelp
Don't waste your time. Look at this "frose." They handed it to me 90% melted. More like cold rose. Slow service too. Not worth a visit.
google avatar

Shirley H.

Yelp
My cousins and I LOVED this sandwich cafe. Pink-themed and filled with Britney posters, it had the best decor and friendly employees. I ordered the California turkey, which came with this amazing garlic-y mayo sauce. The bread was perfectly toasted, and the sandwich itself was stuffed full. It was so good I ended up picking up the caprese sandwich before my flight! Definitely stop by if you're ever on Sullivan's Island.
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
Before I jump into the food and frose, I want to mention the branding and experience of the location. Fantastic and World Class branding and keeping everything on theme! Now, all of that would mean nothing if the food and drink didn't live up to the same experience. I am super pleased to say that it does!!!! I had the Cubano and my girlfriend California Turkey. Both were incredible. What a wonderful experience to go with our great time at the beach! A day of lifetime memories.

K C.

Yelp
The staff wears t-shirts that say Don't be an a$$hole. But guess what? They were the a$$holes. After waiting over 30 minutes for 2 sandwiches, without a word from the staff, we politely inquired about how much longer it might be as there was no one waiting. The answer we received (without eye contact) was 15 minutes (so over 45 min for 2 Turkey sandwiches and no one waiting). And then when we finally got the sandwiches, the staff handed them to us and said "squeaky wheel". So no information was shared about the wait and we were met with rudeness when we inquired about our order. And. The sandwhich? Over priced and nothing to write home about. Convenience? Not worth the rudeness nor the wait. Maybe let people know what the wait is when they order so an informed decision can be made. And follow the suggestion on your T-shirt. "Don't be an A$$hole"!!

Yelp
So anyone that follows them on social media knows this place is killing their updates. Well I'm happy to report that they are also killing the Frosé game as well! We went during the week and got the OG, Pomegranate, and the Cherry Vanilla Coke. The tried and true OG was delicious and was like sunshine on my tongue. Pomegranate was like the nectar of the gods and made me want to wrestle a lion. Lastly, my personal favorite was the Cherry Vanilla Coke. You know how refreshing that first beer is after you've been outside doing yard work all day? Well take that times 3,000! You get the best of everything with that one. Sweetness coming from the Rosé but not overly sweet mixed together with the best coke flavor out there was like a pre COVID pool party in my mouth. So if you're a fan of their post then you'll definitely be a fan of their Frosé. So run, walk, roll, or stumble and check this place out today!
google avatar

Alana D.

Yelp
Such a fun restaurant with the best froze! I loved my froze flight and really enjoyed their sandwiches! This is the perfect place to grab a refreshing drink for the beach or to celebrate a girls trip/bachelorette party

Brittany T.

Yelp
Expensive & crowded BUT all worth it. Recommended mobile ordering to avoid the lines at both locations but especially for Sullivans. The masters egg salad sandwich is delicious but their Turkey sandy is hands down the BEST. OG strawberry frose is on point for hot days and wish I had gotten the bigger size.
google avatar

Yelp
LOVE CO-OP!! Perfect place to stop before heading over to the beach and to cool down with a refreshing frozen rosé. Co-op is mostly to-go and causal outdoor dining setting. They have a menu of select sandwiches and they are always PACKED! Coming from South Florida, I have tried my fair share of Cubano sandwiches and I can say co-op has one of my favorites, even though the bread is more artisan. The owner is always around to check in on customers and service is usually quick. Also check out their Instagram, it's very entertaining.
google avatar

Glenn S.

Yelp
Great breakfast sandwich, vintage beach vibe and Frose!! Highly recommended if you're in Sullivan's Island area.
google avatar

Daniel J.

Yelp
-$1 coffee -Amazing Animal Style Burgers on Tuesdays -Incredible frose $18 wine bottle full -Italian Sandwich is One of the best deli sandwiches I've ever had. (Comes in a to go container perfect for taking to the beach.) -Worlds Most Authentic & Hilarious Instagram

Laurel S.

Yelp
Fun, electric place! Yummy frose especially on a hot day at the beach! We always come when we're in town. We wish we had one in Birmingham!
google avatar

Alexandra W.

Yelp
What can I say that hasn't already been said!? The Co-Op is a fabulous, must-visit pre-or-post-beach stop. A solid menu selection of sandwiches and salads and tons of yummy frose options, this spot is wonderful!
google avatar

Holden M.

Yelp
I would definitely recommend this spot on Sullivan's. I grew up on Sullivan's and it's nice to have a casual in-and-out spot that harkens back to the islands glory (quieter) days. Pretty sure it's the only deli on the island. Great to grab a drink and snack for the beach, not to mention a Frosé! Wine snoods might not care for the sweet Frosé but it's cold, delicious, and perfect in a hot sunny day. They're also strong- so watch out! If you order a flight, you might just find gummy dicks as a garnish. Offended? W/e it's the truth.

Thomas B.

Yelp
Cool breakfast lunch joint. Good sandwiches. Chill vibe. Saw a few celebrities. Fitting for Sully's Island.
