Kamu at The Coach & Horses Leyton - Review - Leyton - London - The Infatuation

"Seeing as London is the kind of place where you can lose a pair of sunglasses and not notice for 14 consecutive slate-gray days, it’s hard to appreciate just how many great sun-trap beer gardens there are in Leyton. But we have a particular soft spot for the one at The Coach & Horses, a classic, Chesterfield-lounging boozer that also happens to be home to some decent Sri Lankan dishes, courtesy of kitchen residency Kamu. Inside, gents who are six-decades-deep into their friendships grab a pint at the bar and locals park themselves in front of one of the massive screens while mainlining chips. But slip through the back door and you’ll find fairy lights, hideaway booths, heaters, a covered section with screens, and most importantly, long benches where you and five friends can dip paratha in dhall in the sunshine. Save it for a day when those sunglasses are finally required and stick to the fried paratha-packed kottu for a satisfying meal that’ll encourage those pints to keep on flowing. Food Rundown Paratha Flaky and soft. That’s how we like our lovers and our paratha, and this version delivers. It tears at the slightest tug. photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley Mix (Chicken & Lamb) Kottu The bar staff will ask you if you want this medley of cheese and paratha pieces kind-of spicy or spicy, and we’d lean towards the latter to balance out all of the heavy breaded goodness. Had a lovely afternoon at the coach and horses. Despite being a match day (oops!) the bar emptied quickly and me and my friend had a lovely relaxing few hours catching up. Booking recommended and the food was lovely. We had the chicken 65, lamb kottu, chicken Ceylon and chilli paneer. We had the Ceylon spicy and kottu medium but would have gone spicy for both so just a recommendation if you also like your food on the hotter side but it was lovely. Staff really friendly and attentive. They let us move to a larger table when a friend joined and were really friendly. Will be back to try the deviled chicken and maybe even some pub classics!

Lovely dog friendly pub in the heart of leyton E10. Great location, good food, relaxing ambience. And the Yorkshire were bang on

This is our local pub for the last 3 years and we enjoy gojng there to watch sports, have a drink , etc. The food started to be a disappointment though, Sunday roast is ok, not bad , the curry we didn’t try recently but the burgers are not really good or properly made. I believe some improvements could be helpful regarding the kitchen, maybe different chefs, refursbishment etc. The chips that come as a side dish are fried in not the best oil, and as a suggestion you could bring the food experience at a higher level, would really benefit the place. I am sure people would enjoy more of a gourmet experience, like a proper burger with the option of sweet potato chips, rosemary chips or something a bit more exquisite. Staff is friendly , we enjoy the vibe of the place but please.. less food options on the menu with more professional chefs, maybe os a good idea.

I don’t go to pubs often for food but this one has certainly changed my mind. Very surprised by the the quality of the food. We had the lamb curry, mix kottu and chicken satay it all was tasty and very homely/authentic tasting. And the next time we went on a Sunday to try the Sunday roast and the lamprias. They were both 10/10. Would recommend if you're looking for authentic food that feels like it’s been prepared perfectly!!!!

Google
Best pub in Leyton by far! Rly cute atmosphere very chill when it’s not a match day and a lush beer garden. Also not a stretch to say the best roast in all of east London, great value and perfectly cooked. Super friendly staff and all!

Don't let the ticket holders on matchday rule fool you, this is an exceptional craft beer pub too! A great pub for watching the football, catching up after an Orient match, or having a delicious pint of something new. Staff are friendly and know their stuff.

Went there before a Leyton Orient match. Had three pints of well kept real ale. Service was quick and efficient despite it being very busy. I didn't eat there as all the tables in the dining area were reserved.

Love going there to watch sports, especially boxing. Great vibes, a spacious beer garden, and a lovely food selection, from classic bar snacks to Sri Lankan dishes. They also often have live music nights, which adds to the atmosphere.

Yelp
I popped into here Friday night after work to get the wild mushroom lasagna for takeaway (brought my own Tupperware as they only have foil). The place was buzzy but not too busy; it has a good pub vibe. Staff were friendly. It took a while for the lasagna to come out. I also got the charred broccoli with chili and lemon as a side and that came in foil. Decided to take advantage of the 2 for 1 happy hour deal whilst waiting: £6.50 for two rose fizzes was a steal! I ate at home. The lasagna was fantastic! Each bite was bursting with moreish flavour and rich cheesiness. The portion size was not too big to feel gluttonous. I ate it all! My only complaint is the broccoli portion size was WAY too small for the £3.5 price tag. It was tasty but super dinky.

Yelp
Went here last week for the Blues Jam. By a bit after 8pm, the place had a good amount of people, which I found surprising, since England was playing Spain in football in just a few. There is a good selection of beers on tap as well as wines and mixed drinks. I was set with my Worthington's Cream Ale for the night. After chatting with friends and meeting new people, we headed in for the music. A couple very solid bands. Since it was a jam session, my mates were trying to push me to get up there and play a bit. Oh darn, no bass or amps for me to play here. Too bad. ;) Even though Leyton in general is a bit of a trek from Central London, it was a good night all around and I enjoyed myself here. The staff is friendly, speedy and the drinks are cheap!

Yelp
Friendly Irish pub in the heart of Leyton, East London, The Coach and Horses offer two large pool tables, darts board and large screen tv showing premiership football. The atmosphere in the pub is generally relaxed and beer and sprits are very reasonably priced but beware on Saturdays when the place packs out with Leyton Orient footy fans.

Yelp
Old school. Really old school. Big space with traditional bad furniture. Cheap beer. Tv. Pool table. Friendly staff. Local punters. It's a boozer.... Nothing more nothing less but there aren't many left so enjoy before it's flats or full of hipsters.
