The Best Southern and Soul Food Restaurants in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"The Vegas location of the Los Angeles brunch staple is helmed by Jermelle Henderson of Taco Mell and Chef Grubby of Bleu Kitchen. It’s open most days from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for platters of French toast in six different varieties. Get slices coated in Fruity Pebbles and drizzled with cream cheese frosting; topped with peaches, strawberries, and caramel; or reimagined completely with banana cream pudding. Catfish po’ boys are also excellent — French rolls filled with two catfish filets, American cheese, spinach with pico de gallo, and homemade jalapeño aioli sauce." - Janna Karel

Amazing food, reasonably priced & huge prions! Just go... trust you'll love everything on the menu!

Even though the place was severely understaffed. One waiter, one waitress, & one chef took control with giving the best services to 25 guests, including two huge tables (group of 8 & a group of 10). Go and support them!

The Court Cafe used to be a nice place for breakfast. Now the cafe doesn't open until 11:00, then you can order a bland steak. 🙄

Google
Yeah, I just ordered some food in there. I ordered a burger medium. It's a hockey buck that thinks burnt. The mushrooms are burnt. I understand there's probably no male or mustard because it's supposed to have barbecue sauce which I'm glad I didn't want. While you're getting some Manella, but the hamburger was burned. It was probably a frozen Patty and do didn't know how to cook it. Cause he burned it.I would eat there again if I had you.I sure hope if they're gonna open a new restaurant in a hotel in all that that

They have the BEST deep fried mushrooms!! Great food and great customer service!!

My husband use to be a regular here for the prime rib special. Of course this was over 7 years ago. Today he took me here for the first time as I’m not from Las Vegas. Upon arrival, we were informed the prime rib special wasn’t a thing there anymore. Okay, fair enough. We both opted to try something else from the menu. My husband ordered the chicken Parmesan and I ordered the meatloaf and mashed potatoes with brown gravy and broccoli. The food arrived pretty quickly as there was only one other dining couple in there besides my husband and myself. The meatloaf and gravy with potatoes is one of the most horrible things I’ve ever tried. After 3 bites I couldn’t even stomach to eat anymore. It had such strong chemical taste to it and I lost my appetite quick. I tried my husbands chicken Parmesan and it was so bland. Just no flavor. After spending $43 on food that was a waste we will NOT be back. Our server however was great! Martin I believe was his name!

Large party of 6, individual meals came out 10 minutes apart and the last meal was charged to us but they never cooked it. The food was delicious but the coordination of it all was very disappointing

The one in Cali was AMAZING every-time we’ve visited. However we went to the one in Vegas & was very disappointed. The service was horrible even though they weren’t crowded so they should’ve been able to service the amount of customers there effectively. I ordered peach cobbler waffles & the shrimp & grits. They literally NEVER brought the shrimp & grits out. The waffles came but they neglected to provide silverware or even syrup. The waitress never came back to check on us for a good 20 minutes. Since they just recently opened this location, I supposed they have time for improvement. I really hope they make some adjustments to adhere to the hype of the location in Cali. Overall the atmosphere/customer service needs improvement.

Yelp
GET THE SWEET POTATO WAFFLE!!!! Omg the food is soooooooo good! We came on Mother's Day so we knew it would be a bit busy but the wait wasn't that bad & totally worth it. They don't serve any alcohol or pop but that was fine with me. The catfish was crispy and fried to perfection. That sweet potato waffle though has me in a choke hold, it was so good. I would definitely recommend this place

Yelp
Say goodbye to Blueberry Hill. This is the spot. A relaxing environment, the music was great a mix of oldies and R&B. Service was excellent, waitress was high energy in explaining the menu, good suggestions. The food arrived in a timely manner and it was good. All plates were clean. I had catfish and sweet potatoe waffles... Wish I had known about this place before going back my regular breakfast when visiting Las Vegas.

Yelp
First off, came here on accident, but what a treat! The service was wonderful. Our server Amanda was the very best! Chef James came out to check on us. He is the very best! Everything was so good!!! WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE.

Yelp
Rate customer service? Good food prices or reasonable and a great value. I will go back here again. Oh and by the way the drinks were good too

Harvey M.

Yelp
Excellent chef that works both chefs. The a.m chef even came out and introduced himself, and his food is well above average for a small local casino. It is actually a 5-star food taste.

Yelp
What a find in Jokers Wild Casino! This diner was great. Super friendly staff, clean and great food. In fact this place has the BEST Ruben sandwich we've ever had. Great value too, our whole meal was $30 for two people.

Yelp
I hadn't been here in a while, and wanted to grab some lunch from here just to sit down. This burger is still great. The food here is good.

Linda L.

Yelp
The Court Cafe was great. Went to lunch with my girlfriend and we had burgers and cheesecake. The burgers were big and juicy. The cheesecake was great. The server was great. The place is very clean. The employees were very attentive. I will be going there again.

Yelp
Times have kept us coming back to our favorite local casino cafe. The menu has been trimmed a bit, but still many of our favorite survived. One noticeable deletion is/was the prime beef. Prices are up, but that is to be expected. SERVICE is still Stellar. We hope the soup/salad bar may once again open, but probably not. The one thing we really miss is the two-for-one meal rewards. But all the caisno chains are tight with rewards - profits first.

Rebekah C.

Yelp
If I could leave no stars I would. Went here today because my husband was hoping the prime rib special still existed. It doesn't. So we decided to try the meatloaf and mashed potatoes, and the chicken parm. Stay away is all I can suggest. The meatloaf and potatoes had a very strange chemical taste to it. The chicken parm was so flavorless. Overall spent $43 here and WILL NOT go back. The few bites I did try made me sick to my stomach and lose my appetite

Yelp
Is the Jokers Wild old, dark, and tired? Yes. However, The Court Cafe inside, albeit dated, has decent food for the price. Nothing extra special there, but a decent offering of basic restaurant staple menu items. I had the fried chicken sandwich. Nice brioche bun. Plenty of toppings. However, it was just a basic frozen fried chicken patty. The fries, however, were great! Broccoli Cheddar soup was okay but kind of gloopy. Overall, an okay sit down restaurant in an area of Henderson lacking in sit down restaurants.

Yelp
Keep in mind, I only eat here once in awhile, cuz the food is very cheap, and taste ok. The wait staff from about 11am on, are pretty nice. Before that time, get ready to deal with Dawn of The Living Dead. They're like pissed off zombies.. Which sucks cuz this place's best deal, is their "before 11am, $2.49 breakfast." I've had everything from their Eggs Benedict to their salad bar. Their salad bar is very basic. Cheap square croutons, fake Baco Bits, half-wilted(so take your time picking out the good lettuce, and leave the crap to another patron, haha) lettuce, and OK dressings. I get it. They can't have fresh stuff at this price. Back to the Eggs Benedict. Everything on the Benny was cheap. The English muffin WASN'T TOASTED! Never seen that before. The hash browns were WAY too crispy.. Like eating unflavored Pop Rocks.. The Hollandaise sauce was just ok.. All in all, if you're very hungry and either cheap or on a budget, stop on in.. Then again, Sunset Station is close by, and their $7-8 buffet is way better!

Yelp
Lived in Henderson for years, never been in the Jokers Wild casino off of Warm Springs and Boulder Highway. Girlfriend and I had an hour to kill, and wanted some breakfast so decided to give Court Cafe a chance. Older casino, a little smoky and an older crowd. Faint smell of smoke in the cafe. But the food was priced affordable and not bad tasting. Friendly and quick service. Looks and feels like a local's place.

Yelp
Mediocre service and food for dinner on Nov 1. The hot turkey and roast beef sandwiches are made with low-medium quality deli meat. The ice tea is fountain, poor taste. The waitress did not check back after delivering meals. Over $30. Casino is dingy. Dining area was brighter and clean. There are much better places to spend $30 for a quick bite to eat. Maybe a cheap breakfast special (didn't see 1) would be worth a shot. Vegetable was birds eye frozen mixed (think cardboard).

Yelp
We barely made the 11AM cutoff for the breakfast special of 2 eggs, toast, bacon and hash browns. My wife's $2.14 coffee exceeded the $1.89 cost of the special. Service was very good as was the toast which arrived at our table both crispy and hot. The breakfast proved to be an outright bargain with my only quibble being the bacon could have been crispier. ($7.70, 3 Forks)

Yelp
I didn't have high hopes for dinner here. I was pleasantly surprised with the prime rib dinner and the service. Service was excellent and prime rib was delish. The salad and veggies were a bit sad but overall a decent dinner for a fair price. So, here I am about a year later. How different my review is today. Super sad and fatty piece of prime rib, The piece I received was 3/4 fat to 1/4 meat. The mashed potatoes were worse than terrible. Something was bad in them (maybe milk?). Our waitress tonight was Rosemary and when she finally decided to check back on us, she didn't really care that my meal was bad. She offered no apology and only said maybe the milk was bad in the potatoes. No adjustment on my bill, no offer for a different item... literally not one thing. This is now a sad sad cafe, a relic of something that once was so much better.

Yelp
So I came here with my boyfriend and son. Our waiters were nice but I'm not just rating them.y boyfriend ordered the country fried steak with biscuit and gravy and my son ordered his kids pancakes with bacon which you can't go wrong with something so simple. But I ordered the egg Benedict with a side of French toast. As soon as our food got out I was really disappointed I wish I could of took a picture but I had to tell them bring it back it was just a English muffin with small piece of ham poached egg and that's it no hollandaise sauce which is the whole meaning of it. I obviously ordered something else but I was starving by the Time I got my food my kid was done eating. I over heard the server say there's new people in the kitchen and they don't know what there doing. I'm like no wonder paid my tab and left.

Yelp
The food is good but I didn't even get to eat it this time. I had visitors in town at my home and thought I'd step out and get everyone omelets (the chili cheese is good there). After waiting a standard amount of time for someone to help me I was told that they do not do to go orders before 11am on the weekends. That seems like a ridiculous policy in a city that's always on the move. The staff is friendly, the food is above average, but this policy stinks.

Yelp
This little cafe is a Hidden Gem. It is much better than any of the other Casino cafes that I have ever tried as a matter of fact it has a much better quality food than chain restaurants in this town. I opted for the Blue Plate special for Sunday night which was turkey mashed potatoes stuffing and a little side of cranberry $8.99. They also have an actual salad bar you can add for $2.50 if you having an entree it also includes soup I received three large slices of white meat real potatoes served up on the side delicious turkey gravy. Cocktails were only 350 for Smirnoff vodka soda. My companion had spaghetti and meatballs with a rich media tomato sauce delicious meatballs served over angel hair something like 6 bucks all in all the service was really prompt courteous and friendly. I would like to see more people go here but I kind of want to keep it to myself.

Yelp
Came here with a group and they put us in the meeting room area. It was a bit run down, but a decent area overall. It was also close to the bar and restrooms, which was nice. I ordered the prime rib, as did another person in our party. He ordered his medium rare to rare, and I ordered mine medium to medium rare. The plates looks exactly the same. The meat was good though, served with horseradish and very flavorless jus. I had to add quite a bit of salt to it. Mashed potatoes and gravy were okay, and the veg of the day was corn. It wasn't fresh and was kind of soggy. The prime rib dinner was only $12.99 though, so I wasn't expecting it to be perfect, especially for a little diner. I mostly wish my meat had been just a little bit more cooked. The prime rib dinner comes with unlimited soup and salad bar. I really enjoyed the Zuppa Toscana. It had nice flavor and the potatoes and kale in it were fresh. The salad was salad, but the beets really threw me off. They weren't pickled (which I was expecting) and were truly terrible. The potato salad was pretty good. My daughter ordered a chicken sandwich and said it was really yummy. Our service was great as well. For the price, I'd go again, but maybe try something else next time.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast! Service is down home & friendly! Craps are super cheap, too. Get there early!

Yelp
Breakfast is done perfect .and served hot. Everyone is very nice there.we have been coming here for a few years and had many things on the menus, never had a bad dinner. Everyone is friendly and the service is great.

Yelp
Food is nothing to right home about: standard, cheap casino breakfast, if a little below standard. The staff and ambiance are very pleasant: greeting almost everyone like an old friend when they come in.

Yelp
After 10pm menu was fair priced. $5 steak and eggs, $5.45 1/2 lb. Burger. Only 1 waitress made service a little slow, but OK.

Yelp
I came to try something new and this tiny cafe inside Jokers wild casino seem to be a new option near my job, however i was disappointed from the moment i walked inn, poor costumer service, crowded (11 am) and somehow rude costumer service, lack of communication and Long Wait for food.i got to see other costumers which seem to be regulars here and got a whole different type of service(seniors most of them) cashier was also host and just told me to go seat, waiter took about 5muns to come by.at the end i got my food and it was ok. I hope they can give a lil more attention to the costumers!

Erick G.

Yelp
This place served me a chopped up hamburger patty when I ordered a Philly Cheessteak sandwich. The waiters argued with me that it was steak. I had to tell the manager (waiters summoned her-not me ). It looks like and tastes like a cheap chopped up burger. NOT a "thinly sliced steak" as the menu described. I told them to charge me for a salad that I ate and I wanted to leave. The manager did so. WTheF is wrong with the cook trying to pass off cheap hamburger as steak. IF it had been a Sirloin burger I would have ate it and left a bad review. As it was the Sandwich was disgusting and I did not eat it. The Cook really needs to be disciplined, retrained or transfered to housekeeping

Yelp
I have tried to like this place as it is close to home -- love the waitress and the staff, but when it comes to the food, it is not good, the plates look terrible. You order the fish and chips dinner and it comes in a plastic tray --- and it was terrible, fish had no taste and the breading greasy. Such a shame, with a little bit of effort, this place could be the star of Henderson, however I think you get better eats at the soup kitchen!!!!!! I really can't believe they pass health inspections with their salad bar -- lettuce old and brown, the onions look like they have been their for some time and when they bring new they just dump it on the old -- sorry for such a bad review, but it is time you wake up!
