The Crab Shack

The Crab Shack is highly reviewed for their atmosphere and good seafood and it was exactly what we hoped for. The 2 person platter was piled high and way too much food for the 2 of us, which was unexpected in the best way. The presentation, service, and atmosphere were out of this world. We loved the set up and getting to sit outside on the deck with heaters even in February. We are used to Louisiana boils where everything is super seasoned. This wasn't quite there on seasoning but it was really good and let you taste the flavors of the seafood. The deviled crabs were really good and the baby gators outside and decorations were very fun! Our waitress was excellent too.

Super fun vibe! Loved the kitties and Macaws! ❤️ Was hoping for a larger menu selection (hubby doesn't like seafood). He ordered the brisket sandwich, but it was a little fatty. Good flavor though! Loved the fun decor and activities for kids. We were there over the New Year holiday. Only saw a few small gaters.

Servers were fantastic, attentive but not over the top. The atmosphere was welcoming, unique, laid back, nothing fancy here and that’s what I loved. Nope for the food, I was not impressed. The slaw tasted like vinegar. I couldn’t stand the BBQ sauce, a little something added to a lot of mustard. I guess the pork was okay if you like it with no sauce. The outside is like nothing I’ve ever seen, very beachy, cluttered but it works. The alligator lagoon was interesting. The outside is worth the trip even if you don’t eat.

Our server was not very friendly but literally everyone else here was from hosts to the gift shop. The dessert and pork was good. Shrimp and deviled crab was good not great. But what was most enjoyable was the ambiance on the patio and the gator exhibit and aviary. The patio outdoor seating was amazing! Definitely coming back!

Absolutely our favorite restaurant on Tybee Island! The atmosphere is incredible—nothing beats sitting outside right by the water and soaking in the view. The food is always delicious, fresh, and served surprisingly fast. One of the most fun parts of visiting is feeding the onsite alligators, which has become a little tradition for us. It’s such a unique experience and adds to the charm of the place. We look forward to every visit!

Great experience with gator feeding and bird shack, dining outside by the water was amazing! The seafood was pricey but huge portions, very quick service. BBQ platter was massive, nice touch with trash cans in center of table.

The perfect vacation spot! Madison W was our server and she was amazing ! She was patient with all our questions and fun to talk to. The food was hot and delivered super fast. We had the snow country boil and it was perfect to share with devil crab appetizer and key lime pie! Delicious. !!

This place is the ONE of a kind. Food is incredible, atmosphere is wonderful! Its fun, its delicious, what more could you want. 100% deserves the amazing reviews. EDIT: The CATmosphere, yay! I believe his name was Jr, your elder blue with no tail. He Reminded me of my blue who passed away last year. The aviary as well, we got Gilbert to dance to Thriller! and Cece loved waiving her wing to say Hello. This place is absolutely one of my top 10's in the country!

Tony and I went to our favorite restaurant on Tybee Island "The Crab Shack". We discovered this restaurant back in 2014 with Noël Teel while in Savannah & Tybee Island area. We just love the Jumble "where's waldo" chaos in the decorating of this waterfront restaurant located off Rt 80 in a residential section We ordered a Low Country Snow Crab Boil with Extra Corn. He loves the Snow Crab but I have to break it out for him! They didn't have PBR so he went with Budweiser and I drank water w lemon & lime. Definitely had a great time! Definitely love the place and will go back again! Highly recommend to everyone!

This place gets crowded so plan early to visit, the close at 9 pm during week day. We ordered Captain n Crab Sampler, Low Country, Kids Cheese pizza and Kosher Dog and corn with IPA Tropicalia & Mojito. The Crab sampler and Low Country were big portions. The taste for these items were OK but not out of the world taste. The atmosphere here was amazing, we liked to seat outside to view the open water view near the floating boat. The drinks selections are not much and overrated for the price. We would recommend if you are visiting for the first time. I would not visit for my next trip.

If the overall vibes didn't bring you here, the food will! The goal was crab legs and we found this place. You pull in and it looks like a beach shack, tons of parking. They have alligators on site which is fun to walk around and look at before/after you eat. It also sits on the water so we got a table next to it so we can have a good view during lunch. The crab legs and mussels were perfectly cooked. Delicious, butter to dip in, the whole shebang. Messy, flavorful, and juicy, exactly what you want if you're looking to break open some shells. Best part is they have a garbage right in the middle of the table to throw scraps in, and they have a sink to wash up in the dining room rather than getting the bathroom all greasy! 10/10 for planning that one! The service was good, we got sat right away and she got us everything we needed. I would recommend and would come back!

Delicious food with Friendly southern hospitality. Great setting at night with the lights on the water. This Florida Realtor loved the crab! Make sure you check out all the gators :)

I loved this place. As someone who was born and raised in south Florida, this felt exactly like going to Robbie's in the keys. The food, gift shop, outside and vibes felt exactly the same. It made me super happy and felt like I was at home. If you don't wanna eat I'd recommend at-least coming for the vibes alone. Grab a drink and see the water and walk around. The staff were also so sweet. While in the gift shop the one woman picked up the kittens and introduced me to each of them. So cute!!

The food was good & service was friendly when our Trolly Tour stopped here on the way to Tybee Island. The gators weren't active because its November, but you can still see them. The birds have their own room in the gift shop, which is just a basic gift shop. There are several places to pose for photos with your group & they decorated for Christmas. The service was friendly. I loved the strawberry daquri. The seafood boil can be bought for 1, 2 or 3 people. We got a boil for 2 and 3 people ate it for an hour and there was still a lot leftover. The hotdog is good. The mashed potatoes were really flavorful, herbs and garlic in them. Cleanup is easy, you have a trashcan under your platform on the table for platters. The bathrooms could be better. Cats wander around too.

The crab shack was one of our favorite spots to eat on our vacation to Savannah. We shared the captains sampler platter for 1 because we had just eaten a late lunch but honestly I think that would have been enough even if we hadn't. There was plenty of snow crab, shrimp, mussels, sausage, and potato, and one small corn. We learned how to eat crawfish here lol. We had leftovers we had to ditch sadly. Love the layout having the garbage can in the middle of the table to discard all the scraps and the cocktail sauce on the table in ketchup bottles. We also tried the crab dip which was delicious. Service was great and the ambiance was stunning with tons of seating outside and twinkly lights all around. We will definitely come back if we are ever back in Savannah for more crab!

We got the captain sampler plate for 4. It had crab legs, mussels, crawfish, shrimp, potato's, corn and sausage. The service was pretty quick and our server kept bringing us drink refills. The seafood was pretty good but the crawfish was okay. It was not very fresh. All the other seafood was good and well seasoned. Also wish the corn was a little more seasoned. The indoor dining area was definitely hot and felt congested. I preferred the outdoor seating. I also wish they had more drink options like Dr Pepper. I got a lemonade and it was out of syrup cause it only taste like lemon water. Overall, a good place to go before or after tybee.

I really enjoyed this spot, I was craving seafood and saw all the signs to go. It's on the water, has decent views & a nice ambiance. The oysters were surprisingly big & tasty. The Low country boil was seasoned and they gave a lot of shrimp. Julie was very attentive and have great service. They have a Gator area where you can feed or just look at the gators it's a pretty cool spot.

We spent over 2 hours here! We especially loved the lady at the gift shop. She smiled a lot and was so friendly. We got a few items since she was so cheerful. Feeding the gators were fun. $5 for 4 piecs of gator good, which we got two bags. Put it on a end of a fishing line, drop it down with the pole, then the gators eats the piece of food in the water. Snow cone was $2 each, very reasonable. Food was very fresh and delicious. I was impressed. The snow crab was very fresh. Mussels, shrimps, crawfish, sausages and potatoes were seasoned well, not too salty. Will come again!

Was dying for some seafood while on Tybee island, and had seen some good reviews for this place online. The good: - The seafood was fresh with lots of Old Bay :) - Very cool baby alligator haven (you can buy alligator food for a few dollars to feed them), and a bird house for animal lovers. - lots of seating, no need for a reservation - attentive service, waitress checked on us several times despite it being a busy lunch rush The less good: - we ate outside, and by nature of being close to the water there were a lot of small bugs flying around the food - a bit expensive for the very casual experience (though the seafood was good) Overall, good seafood on Tybee Island. This is a very casual joint, though the prices don't necessarily reflect that.

Back again! This time with family. Wanted them to experience the amazing low country boil in such a unique dining area with a water view. If you are seeking an authentic southern seafood experience, this is it! The parking & exterior appearance will make you call your choice into question. Just wait! The inside is like dining on a deck in a treehouse. It's tiki summer fun charm, and the food and service are outstanding! Great for kids too! Theres an alligator sanctuary where you can feed them, exotic bird area, arcade and gift shop. Multiple bar areas, huge dining area. This is mostly open air with very little cover from the elements, so i am not sure what they do if it's raining or bad weather. No reservations. Good for groups. If theres a wait, WAIT! Once again great food and very friendly and attentive service. Cant wait to come back on next visit to Tybee.

The vibes at this place is just what you expect when you're on vacation. Our waitress was attentive and the food came out really fast even though we came on a tour bus with 24 other people! I deducted some points because as I understand this is a seafood spot, that there isn't a lot of options for the non seafood eaters. I had a BBQ Pork Sandwich and it was ok. I had a cocktail and it was good. It's a typical tourist trap in the way of that there is an area for alligators and you can buy overpriced dog food to feed them. There was a couple other things to do but we didn't look. Parking: On site parking.

This place screamed coastal South. It served its purpose with the alligators and the gift shop - a true tourist trap with lots of stuff to do. We went for lunch. It was fine, but I learned I'm not a crawfish lover. The shrimp also could have been cleaned a little bit better. I was not a fan of the butter either. How does one mess up melted butter? I don't know, it just was odd. I did enjoy my crab cake. That was the best part of the meal and worth it. Service was fine. Nothing of note. I don't think I'd return but I can see why people go here. It just didn't do it for me.

Ambiance is the winner of the required statements on here- the other two are food and service- our server was great and the food was decent but again the standout is the view and the character of the place. An original to say the least. If passing by the area at least stop for a cold drink. The low country boil was good- shrimp was sweet and tasty, the potatoes were soft and flavorful, the sausage could have been given more love and the corn could have been served warmer.

It's legendary for a reason! Perfect laid back feeling to spend some time! Very family friendly. We went for lunch before driving home on a week day but I'm sure it is banging on the weekends! We had a platter for 3, could have fed at least 2 more! Platter had crab legs, shrink, mussels, crawfish, potatoes and sausage.

Such a great place to go. You sit outside and overlook the ocean. It's absolutely beautiful. The food and service is Excellent!! I mean they give you a lot of food!! We had six people and our waitress was absolutely awesome! Didn't have to ask for anything!! Seafood was yummy

Great Low Country Stop. Big place and very busy but they handle it well. Stop in for lunch or dinner.

The restaurant is a little cheesy, but the food and service are great! You can sit inside or outside. They do serve cocktails. Super casual atmosphere. After dinner you can entertain the kids by letting them feed the alligators! They have came poles to attach the food to and it is kind of fun. No kids with us but we fed the alligators!! There is a small gift shop and a room with live parrots. Even if you do not partake of the extra curricular , the food is great. The service was attentive and friendly! Looking for somewhere with good food that you can run in with your beach clothes on - you have found it!!

This place is an experience! Tons of seating indoors and outdoors. Outdoors is under massive trees with potential views of the water. Lots of character in decor from when you enter the parking lot. Drive slow, there are kitties. We got the 2 lb snow grab-- it was 5 clusters + potatoes, corn, sausage and side order of Mac n cheese. Toss your trash in hole in middle of table. Feed the gators for $5/snack bag. There's a gift shop and a bird haven. Slots too if you're into that

We dined outside under a full moon over the water under ancient oaks it was simply a gorgeous evening. The food was excellent we had boiled peel and eat shrimp with deviled crabs which was excellent you definitely need to try their sauce. Perfect service all together an excellent experience even for a Saturday evening and it was busy. Leaving we watched the pet gators.

Been a few years since being to Tybee as well as Crab Shack. Time has kind of stood still as Tybee is pretty much the same & Crab Shack still has a relaxing vibe with adult beverages, burgers, fries and tasty seafood. I always get the Low Country Boil which includes a cluster of snow crab, shrimp, mussels, crawfish, sausage, corn & potatoes. For lunch my wife and I split the serving for one which is plenty of food. Our server was spot on and friendly as she checked on us every 5 minutes or so to make sure all was going well. It was fun to come back as well as see the gators they have on site for patrons to view. If in Savannah, take the trip out US 80 as you'll have a good time!

This is probably my 3rd Yelp review of this restaurant. It's my absolute favorite seafood- EVER! Service and food is amazing! Love the atmosphere and the gators!

I saw that The Crab Shack had mixed reviews, but decided to try it anyways and it was a fun experience! The restaurant had alligators and games, perfect for all ages! My friend and I sat outside. It was a nice day, but a little windy and there was a time or two I wished we picked the indoor seating. But plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor. We had the low country boil and it was really good! Loved getting fresh seafood! It was also nice to take our time to enjoy our food. And we had the sweetest waitress! Definitely a fun place to go at least once!

Pros: we ordered the captain what his name for 3 - $110 before taxes is enough food to feed a small army I feel like. Literally I feel like I'll have seafood omelettes until Sunday with the amount we had leftover. We asked to not be inside after being placed in the video game room that we didn't know existed and the staff responded quickly and kindly moving us outside. Amy was a winner! Once outside the food came out quickly. We were a little disappointed there was only one thing of butter for us to all share, but wasn't too big a deal. Cons: styrofoam cups and plates when you're paying steakhouse money seemed strange. Our new waiter checked on us one time after we received our food. Could be I didn't have proper expectations - but $160 for 3 people and styrofoam plates just seemed weird.

What a fun family experience- we were seated right away and the kids were plenty entertained by all the wildlife around them. Don't mind the roaming cats and birds flying overhead. The food was mediocre and the kids pizza was pretty scary, but when else are you able to feed alligators after your meal?

On a sister trip to Savannah and we wanted to go have seafood on Tybee Island and we sure picked a winner! We ate outside and it was just the perfect setting and atmosphere to make us feel "beachy". We ordered the Shrimp Boil for 4 and it was a huge tray of shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes. So delicious and we ate and ate but there was still so much left, we took half of it with us! I think the Shrimp Boil for 1 would have been plenty for all four of us! The service here is friendly just like we have noticed here in Savannah. Southern hospitality is real!

Amazing! Was chowing down some soup, alone and pregnant. Not sure if this is a normal occurence, but I am certainly not upset, but some desperate and single drunk guys noticed me and asked if they could buy me a drink. I immediately let them know my situation, I'm pregnant and taken, but if he wanted to practice his flirting skills or something, I could scooch over so they could have a seat. The guy was blown away by my generous offer. His friend ordered us $200 worth of seafood and we had a MF feast. Best $10 I ever spent in my life. The bartender was a literal peach as well!

What a hidden gem!! I stumbled upon this place on accident and I think it was easily one of the best things about my trip to Savannah If you're having trouble figuring out what's going on here, I gotchu, here is the low down; - yes, there is an alligator pit + yes you can Feed them - yes, they have a bird sanctuary, no you cannot hold or touch the birds. A lot of them are mean they are rescue birds but the lady that runs the sanctuary is super knowledgeable and great to ask questions to - yes, the boil is worth it. I got to try a large spread of seafood for quite an affordable price -yes, so are the pina coladas - yes, it's kid friendly, they have lots of entertainment options - pro tip cover everything that you can at the table. There are gnats like crazy. I originally got sat towards the back of the restaurant and asked if I could move closer to the water. They gladly moved me closer with no fuss, and I got a beautiful view of the water while I ate.

Fun family stop. Various entertaining signage to read. Our waiter was super attentive. Nice sitting outside by the water. Food was tasty. Nachos, shrimp salad sandwiches, drinks all tasty. Nachos had lots of pulled pork...mmmmm. Loved the tables with all you need on a little upper level with a trash can below for easy tossing.

Loved the decor! Nice little touristy place on tybee I got to take some of my friend from Albuquerque! The food is solid and the drinks are great! I spilled mine and the waitress got me a new one! Excellent service and friendly staff! Also got my friends a Savannah trash can! Love that they got to try some Savannah delicacies!

Wonderful service! Waitress was the best! We enjoyed talking to her. Food was great! Our waitress helped us by suggesting what her favorite dishes were. The hush puppies are even delicious. We stopped by after a day at the beach!

Wow! Even though we arrived during a downpour, our party of 7 was seated within 40 minutes. We totally munched on the Captain's Sampler and still had some left. Our server was very busy but took care of us with patience & style. Very nicely done!! 5 stars.

CRAB SHACK I would rate this place was 100/10 . This place is huge! It's like your on a small island & they have a gator pond where you can see the gators. Indoor and outdoor seating . Gotta give credit where due. It's a "tourist trap" that delivers good food, decent prices, good drinks and service....so, 5 stars. We had done a similar meal (low country boil) earlier in our trip and this one did a MUCH better job-- better crab, solid shrimp, better on every measure. Service was solid. The place is BIG with many different areas; we were in an area with lots of kiddie arcade games-- I imagine they did that since we had a 2-year old with us, and he spent a lot of time riding the motorcycles and playing with the arcade games (he's too young to realize you can put money in them and get more!). He also enjoyed the gator pond. I give a lot of 4 stars but I'm going up on this one simply because you go expecting mediocrity, since it's such a tourist place and all, but you get a good solid seafood meal with good drinks and conveniences.

As a local we really love the crab shack although tourist also love the crab shack the location and food is great The low country boil is a favorite but the shrimp and crab dip is my overall fave item on the menu great atmosphere and a fun time for kids

The Crab Shack is a staple on Tybee Island. The food and the service were both good. The Shack Crab Stew was super tasty! For what it is - it's kitschy and fun for a dinner. We went late and the sunset was beautiful from our table.

Food came out extremely fast! We love the ambiance and seeing the gators, birds, and cats. We got the low country boil for 4 people (big thanks to the server for recommending we size down). We had more than enough left to take home. Everything was perfectly seasoned, fresh, and hot. We love the Crab Shack!!!

Over priced if you ask me. Some of the items are priced way too high and some are priced just about right.

Overall the food was pretty good and came out quickly and at a timely manner. It wasn't as seasoned as I would prefer but it still tasted great. My table had Kya as our server and she did so good, our cups were never empty the entire time of us being there!

Good place for fresh seafood, good cocktails, and a few extras worth checking out. Had lunch here with a tour group for Tybee Island. I ordered the Seafood Platter for one, which included potatoes, sausage, corn cob, mussels, shrimp, and crab legs. It was very good, and I would order it again. I also ordered a Flanigan Flamingo cocktail, which was delicious and refreshing. I sat at the bar which had a casual vibe amd enjoyed looking at the decor around the patio that surrounded the bar. After lunch, I visited the gift shop, the area where they keep a few exotic birds as pets, and the alligator lagoon. Yes, an alligator lagoon with at least 10 alligators! You can feed them or just watch them swim and hang out. It was a fun stop on our tour!

This is a great seafood place ! They have alot of Options for the seafood platters to order for 1 person or for more- the sizing for one is perfect !! They have a decent outside area and the inside is quite large as well. The low country boil was so good! However when we paid (3 separate checks, one of us was paying with a visa gift card, the waitress sakinah, said she was only going to charge X amount because they take 18%. When we asked her what it was about and that they owed more money she just said "I don't know". So my friend had to pay more on another card cause she had already run the card without asking if she could continue. It's a nice spot and I would go Again but wouldn't be first on my list.

This place was great. The food and alligators are so worth it. We had a group of 8 and got right in. We all tried something different. I had the crab legs and shrimp the crab legs were so easy to crack and eat and very tasty. The shrimp were very good also everything was seasoned very well. The corn was really good, potatoes good but not as good as the corn. Crab dip was very good and a big portion. We also had the crab cake and it was really good. Make sure you feed the alligators that was very cool, use the poles too. The only thing I could complain about was our waitress did forget about us for a bit and we had to get the bartender to find her but she was very apologetic and admitted to just getting busy and forgetting us so it wasn't a big deal, the place is quite huge so I can see how that could happen.

while seeing the Fort Polanski on Tybee Island, we got hungry and looked at yelp as to where to go, and the yelp said the crab shack. when we went down the little side road to the crab shack, we were kind of worried. When we pulled up in front of the crab shack, we were kind of worried. But let me tell you, the seafood was fresh and amazing. The staff was great. Very quick. And we had a great time looking at the alligators in their pond.

As much as we love to travel, certain challenges are always involved. One of them is just how do you wrap up a cherished trip when you really aren't ready to go home yet? Well for this wonderful exploration of parts of Georgia, we decided that a fitting farewell should involve a "Low Country Boil." Apparently this is properly pronounced, "Loh Cuntrah Boll" and it deserves your priority attention if you ever have the opportunity to experience one! We chose "The Crab Shack" on Tybee Island and what a unique destination it turned out to be. This mostly outdoor restaurant is situated so close to Chimney Creek that you can't help but scan your surroundings for wildlife. As it turns out, that instinct isn't misguided as there is an alligator lagoon located on the property. If a "feast" is what we were hoping for it became immediately clear that we weren't going to rise from our table disappointed. Although Dana and I placed different orders, our immediate reaction was the same, "Who is gonna help us eat all of this food?" I found myself plowing through the crab legs, muscles, and shrimp of my seafood platter, but avoiding the corn, sausage, and little red critters for different reasons. I figured the corn was more of a garnish than anything (I was wrong, it was incredibly sweet), I couldn't understand why sausage was invited to this party (I found out it was invited because of how well it paired with the shrimp in particular), and with the little red critters I was just stalling while I kept a careful eye on them to check for movement. When I could delay the inevitable no longer, I called our server over and said, "I have 3 questions. What are these little guys? Am I supposed to eat them? If so, how???" ‍ She patiently reassured me that the little red critters are "crayfish" (but called and pronounced "crawfish") and then demonstrated how to prepare them for consumption (the faint of heart should be grateful that I'm gonna spare you that part). While bibs were not offered to us, you may want to request one as my shirt bore the weight of the remnants of the meal that would be traveling home with me. And that's...Henry's Take. #lowcountryboil
